Buying a Yacht with FYI

Identifying the right yacht

Once in contact with FYI we’ll identify the boat that is best suited for your needs. There are innumerable options available and we will find the yacht you’ve always been dreaming of no matter where you or the vessel may be.

Making an offer & sealing the deal together

Once you’ve found the right yacht it will be time to present an offer to your broker who will then prepare a sales agreement laying out the timing of the Survey, Sea Trial, Acceptance & Closing. With your offer, it is customary to deposit 10% of the offered purchase price into escrow. Your broker will now present the offer to the seller who will either accept, reject or make a counter offer.

Yachts are intricate sea going machines. Upon a fully accepted offer, your boat broker will assist you in scheduling the surveys, out of water inspection and sea trial. It is important to conduct a survey to determine the condition of the vessel and any potential work needed and also obtain the cost of repairs if needed.

After a Survey and Sea Trial it is now time to submit a written Acceptance of Vessel. The Acceptance could include any deficiencies that may be found and allows arrangements to be made pertaining to possible repairs to be completed by the seller as an agreement to move to closing.

Closing & Delivery

When is the first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump?

Just under three weeks after she formally accepts the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago for president of the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris will be facing off against former President Donald Trump in Philadelphia.

The Harris-Walz campaign said in a statement Thursday that Trump's campaign accepted a proposal for three debates , two between Harris and Trump and one between their running mates, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

When and where is the first Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate?

The debate is scheduled for 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Philadelphia , hosted by ABC News.

How to watch the Sept. 10 presidential debate

The debate will air on ABC and stream on ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu, ABC announced Friday .

Who are the moderators of the Sept. 10 presidential debate?

"World News Tonight" anchor and managing editor David Muir and ABC News Live "Prime" anchor Linsey Davis will moderate, according to ABC.

The primetime pre-debate special, "Race for the White House," will be anchored by Martha Raddatz, Jonathan Karl, Mary Bruce and Rachel Scott, and will begin at 8 p.m. EDT, the network announced.

Will Robert F. Kennedy be at the ABC presidential debate?

Unlikely. According to ABC News' rules , candidates must receive at least 15% support in four separate national polls of registered or likely voters in order to participate in the debate. Third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy has been polling roughly half that percentage.

Kennedy also failed to qualify for the first debate, hosted by CNN.

When is the vice-presidential debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance?

Walz and Vance have agreed to a debate on Oct. 1, to be moderated by CBS News.

Vance has also agreed to a CNN debate on Sept,. 18, but Walz has yet to confirm.

When is the second Harris-Trump debate?

The date of the second debate has not yet been decided. Trump's campaign has suggested Sept. 4 and Sept. 25, with details to be worked out with the Harris campaign.

Did Harris back out of the FOX debate with Trump?

There never was one.

While Harris has consistently stuck to the previously agreed upon Sept. 10 date, Trump has resisted it.

On July 25, Trump's campaign communications director Steven Cheung said it was premature to schedule a debate with Harris until it was clear she would be the Democratic Party's nominee.

On Aug. 2 Trump posted on his Truth Social site that he had agreed to debate her in Pennsylvania on Sept. 4, hosted by FOX News with "a full arena audience." The ABC debate was canceled, he said, because it had been scheduled with Biden before he dropped out of the race and because Trump was suing ABC and one of its hosts, George Stephanopoulos.

Harris' campaign declined in a statement, saying Trump was "running scared" and she would stick to the plan and be in Philadelphia on Sept. 10 to speak to a prime-time audience whether the former president was there or not.

In a follow-up post, Trump said "I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all."

For weeks, both candidates accused each other of cowardice before finally settling on a date: Sept. 10 on ABC, as originally planned.

Another sales-tax holiday kicks off Saturday across Florida

Hurricane season during tax-free holiday.

Central Florida residents are encouraged to prepare now ahead of what could be a busy hurricane season.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A sales-tax "holiday" will start Saturday that can help Floridians prepare for storms as the state moves into the peak of hurricane season, while another set of tax breaks is on the horizon for people buying tools and other work gear.

The holiday periods, which will allow people to avoid paying sales taxes on purchases, are part of a tax package (HB 7073) that lawmakers and Gov. Ron DeSantis approved this year.

The first holiday period, which will begin Saturday and continue through Sept. 6, is designed to save money for people as they buy storm-related items ranging from packages of batteries and pet supplies to portable radios and generators. The state also held a similar tax holiday around the June 1 start of the six-month hurricane season.

Also, the state will hold what has been dubbed the "tool time" tax holiday from Sept. 1 through Sept. 7 to provide tax breaks on tools and work gear such as gloves, boots and ladders.

Hurricane seasons historically pick up in mid-August with the climatological peak around Sept. 10. Meteorological experts have forecast an above-average hurricane season this year, which could mean more than 20 named storms before the end of November.

So far, the season has produced five named storms, including Hurricane Debby, which made landfall near Steinhatchee on Aug. 5 as a Category 1 storm before dumping heavy rain across North Florida and parts of Georgia and the Carolinas.

Florida Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie this week advised people not to be fooled by the current calm in the Atlantic and to use the tax holiday that starts Saturday to "go out and restock or stock for disaster items."

"We're entering the peak weeks of hurricane season," Guthrie said Wednesday while in Sarasota. "They're upon us. Tropical cyclones may develop over the next four to six or even eight weeks."

The private meteorology company AccuWeather on Thursday predicted six to 10 named storms in September, citing factors such as water temperatures that remain near or at record highs across much of the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Warm water helps fuel hurricanes.

"There’s a possibility that we could see multiple tropical storms and hurricanes in the Atlantic basin on the same day, similar to the frequency of storms that we’ve seen during other supercharged hurricane seasons like 2020," Alex DaSilva, AccuWeather lead hurricane expert, said in a prepared statement.

The tax holiday starting Saturday and the similar period around the start of hurricane season are projected to trim $80.2 million from state and local tax revenues. This year’s overall tax-cut package carries an estimated $439.6 million price tag.

Among other things, shoppers will not have to pay sales taxes on reusable ice packs that cost $20 or less; portable radios, fuel tanks and packages of batteries that cost $50 or less; coolers that cost $60 or less; tarps that cost $100 or less; and portable generators that cost $3,000 or less.

Also, tax exemptions apply to such things as wet dog or cat food that costs $10 or less; cat litter that costs $25 or less; pet beds that cost $40 or less; and over-the-counter pet medications, pet carriers and bags of dry dog or cat food that costs $100 or less.

During the "tool time" period in early September, sales-tax exemptions will be provided on work gloves that cost $25 or less and such things as hand tools, safety glasses, protective coveralls, shovels and rakes that cost $50 or less.

As other examples, tax exemptions will apply to hard hats that cost $100 or less; work boots that cost $175 or less; ladders that cost $250 or less; and power tools and vehicle tool boxes that cost $300 or less.

The tool time tax breaks are projected to save shoppers $19.8 million.

The Buccaneers begin the year at No. 6 in the Top 25 Florida high school football preseason rankings , but Clearwater Central Catholic won 21-14 when these two teams met in the season opener a year ago.

Berkeley Prep Buccaneers

The Buccaneers were the Cinderella of last year's Class 2M state championship, upsetting Miami Norland to win their first FHSAA football state title in program history.

Don't be surprised if they run it back in 2024.

They are once again loaded with talent under head coach Dominik Ciao and eager to win him another state crown.

With 5-star prospect and Notre Dame commit Dallas Golden and underrated running back Joseph Troupe (Temple commit) leading the way, they have a serious chance of making it two in a row.

Clearwater Central Catholic Crusaders

The Crusaders were unbeatable through their first 12 games last season, but none of that mattered when they ran into Chaminade-Madonna in the Class 1M state championship, where the Lions cruised to a 56-0 victory to claim their third straight FHSAA state title and their sixth in the last seven years.

That was Clearwater Central Catholic's second straight year losing to Chaminade-Madonna in the Class 1M state title game, but the Crusaders may have a shot at a different outcome now that they have been assigned to Class 1A for the next two years.

They are on the bubble of the Florida Power 25 to begin this season, but that could change quickly if the Crusaders pull off the upset against Berkely Prep on Friday.
