SuperYachts.com - The Top Five Fastest Yachts in the World

We took a look at the top five fastest superyachts and luxury yachts on the water today. Ranging from speeds of 62 Knots up to a whopping 70 Knots, these breakneck builds are sure to satisfy the cravings of the most insatiable of adrenaline junkies...

1. World Is Not Enough - Millennium Superyachts - 70 Knots The fastest yacht in the world reaches a record-breaking top speed of around 70 knots. The Milennium 140  World Is Not Enough  has retained the title of the world’s fastest yacht since she was delivered in 2004 to her owner and one of the most public superyacht owners in the world, John Staluppi. Incredibly for a superyacht of this size,  World Is Not Enough  is a fully fledged and superyacht at 42.4m, complete with advanced audio-visual systems and accommodation for 10 guests in 5 luxurious cabins.

The superyacht achieves its racing speeds by virtue of an all-aluminium build, V-shaped hull, and two 18VP185 Paxman Diesel engines providing 5300 hp each combined with twin Lycoming TF40 turbine jet engines able to generate a total power of 20.000 HP. The resulting effect is an extremely streamlined, exhilarating and comfortable feel as the yacht cuts through the water, offering minimal noise levels and vibration as she does.

November 2018

(Post from Mulder Design) On November 19 M/Y “Spectre” was delivered to her owners. It was a beautiful ceremony in Livorno at the Benetti shipyard.

We are proud to have participated in the creation of this spectacular 69 meter (227 ft) long motoryacht, which is the ninth project of the Staluppi’s with Mulder Design. Spectre, with her 5 decks and impressive volume of 1430 GT, is the result of close cooperation between builder Benetti and their interior design team, Giorgio Cassetta for exterior styling, Mulder Design’s naval architecture and the inspiring involvement of the owners. Her High Speed Cruising Hull will not only be approximately 30% faster than “normal” displacement yachts with similar power, but will also reduce fuel consumption at long range speed. The ground breaking use of Ride Control, which is a combination of roll reduction and pitch reduction, will greatly improve comfort when cruising at 20 knots.

Super Yacht Times:

Insight: John Staluppi, superyachts, and Spectre

John Staluppi is the epitome of the American Dream: a straight talking Italian-American, a proud New Yorker and dedicated philanthropist, coming from nothing and building his own multi-million dollar business in the automotive industry from the ground up. Growing up in the Golden Age of the American automobile industry, his first job was as a petrol station mechanic, but it wasn’t long before he leapfrogged the ranks to business owner. His success grew exponentially over the following years after convincing the then-unheard of Japanese brand Honda that he was the right guy to appoint as the official dealer of Honda vehicles in the States and the rest, as they say, is history.

john staluppi

Staluppi’s success with cars stems from a fervent work ethic, but is also steeped in passion: passion for excitement, for speed and for the ultimate in big boy’s toys. His successes allowed him the financial freedom to explore this side of his character, which naturally lead to the purchase of his very first superyacht in 1985, the 36 metre Denison built For your Eyes Only. This was the first in what would become a very long line of Staluppi-owned vessels. To this date, Staluppi has owned 17 vessels, 12 of which he has commissioned himself.

Superyachts seem like a natural fit for Staluppi, and he touched on big - top secret - plans for the expansion of his empire further into the maritime industry in the near future during our interview. “We will own a shipyard soon, only big boats,” Staluppi exclusively tells us. “We’ll build 50+ metres. I’m going to make a series of boats, it will be like a production series but semi-custom, and it will probably be in Europe.”

Putting the creation of his very own brand of superyachts aside, the defining characteristics of Staluppi’s fleet are founded in two elements: speed and, rather unusually, James Bond (the majority of Staluppi’s vessels are named after Bond films). The first translates well into the other. Bond epitomises luxury, refinement, excitement. He is a character that is dangerous, glamorous, attractive and who lives quite comfortably on the edge of what is deemed possible… quite like Staluppi’s yachts. Staluppi confirms this association, saying,“I enjoy the build. I always want to create something different and something special. James Bond is exciting, everything he does is exciting, and everything we do is exciting.”

With such an extensive fleet and only a limited number of films to choose from, sooner rather than later, Staluppi is going to run out of names for his boats… but not, at least, for the next two years, which is conveniently when his next superyacht project currently under construction with Benetti is scheduled for completion: Spectre.

Spectre yacht john staluppi

Measuring 69 metres - for now - Spectre is set to be a little bit different from the rest, with a substantially decreased focus on speed, and instead a new emphasis on the luxurious side of the superyacht lifestyle. Being built with Benetti - the third yacht that Staluppi has brought to the Italian shipyard’s door - and designed in close cooperation between Staluppi and his wife, the Mulder Design team of Holland and the in-house team at Benetti comprised of interior architect Domenico Gavagnin with exterior design from Giorgio Maria Cassetta Design, she is set to be the best of the bunch - and with yachts like the 61 metre Benetti built Diamonds are Forever, the 40.3 metre Heesen Octopussy and the 49.6 metre Christensen Casino Royale, that’s quite a statement.

diamonds are forever john staluppi

Explaining this departure from his norm, he says, “We want a lot of luxury, but we want it to be special. We want the boat to be exciting. At the same time I wanted the boat to have a little speed, so we decided to make it 21-22 knots. I got in touch with Frank Mulder and Bas, and asked them if they would like to join me on the project… They came over, we spent a lot of time [discussing the new project].

“Bas and Frank took the project, they took it to Benetti, and said, ‘Now we’re going to build Spectre.’ The boat simply started out as a 63 metre, then it went to 64 metres, then it went to 68 metres, and today we might be 69 metres, we’re not sure. The boat is going to be luxurious, a very beamy boat, and beautiful. I think that between everyone with our input, this will be one of the most exciting boats out there. We’re very critical as to what we want. I get involved with everything; we even picked out the doorknobs and the lights.”

Regardless of Spectre being the most spectacular of all Staluppi’s vessels, this - perhaps unsurprisingly - doesn’t mean that this one is for keeps. Staluppi builds yachts to sell: he is an astute businessman, a quality ingrained in everything he does. “We’re going to keep it until a certain time, until I get tired of it,” he comments in regards to Spectre. “We build a boat for sale and for charter, it’s part of my business. But I would like to travel in that boat and take it around, they will use it in the shows… I believe that this boat is going to be special.”

spectre yacht john staluppi yachts

With a departure from speed, a distinct shift to luxury, the aim to build the best boat to have graced Staluppi’s ownership, and the fact that, at least for the moment, there are no more Bond names to proudly bestow upon a new vessel, will Spectre mark the end of a 30+ year of boat building for Staluppi? The answer, in a word, is a resounding no. “I might decide to go faster again. We’re talking about build a 65-66 metre, something that will do about 32-33 knots. I might want to do 35 knots, I might want to cruise at 32 knots, because nobody has done that yet. That might be the next project I’m going to do.”

Just like the cars he adores and the boats he builds, John Staluppi is a walking, talking embodiment of the ‘American dream’. Starting out as a petrol station mechanic in Brooklyn, Staluppi built a billion dollar business of car dealerships, before turning his hand to creating some of the most iconic superyachts ever built.

Taste for speed

octopussy

When he finally took the step, Staluppi’s first boat was a 13m Ocean sport fishing boat, even though he didn’t much like fishing.

‘I liked the speed of it,’ he explains. ‘This fishing boat was the only thing at that time that did 30 knots.’

Staluppi raced dragsters in his teens, winning a Grand Nationals in Tennessee, and there’s a strong connection with speed right through his career – including an epic rivalry with John Rossatti, his business partner in the mall that houses Cars of Dreams. They’ve raced almost anything that goes fast: Porches, Corvettes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, cigarette boats…

The powerboat racing came to a fairly swift end after a couple of high-speed crashes. The first was a flip in California and the aftermath more unnerving still.

‘We were floating around out there in the middle of the ocean for about 20 minutes, and all I could think about was the shark coming to bite my leg,’ he recalls. ‘The couple of guys that were with me, one was bleeding and the other hurt his back.’

Staluppi’s lifeguard training came in very useful until the coastguard appeared. He built a new race boat and this one caught fire on Lake Pontchartrain, near New Orleans. Staluppi found himself back in the water thinking, ‘“You know what? Two times is a warning, three times you’re out.” There wasn’t going to be a third time.’

He had an 18m Viking by this stage, but after doing 80 knots in a racing powerboat, it felt a little tame, and he’d always wanted something better.

‘When you’re out there and riding around and see all these big boats go by, you always think, “Someday I want to have a big yacht.”’ And so the 36m, Denison-built, For Your Eyes Only was born. ‘I really wanted to have something different. I wanted to build the first boat over 100 feet (30.5 metres) that would go over 30 knots.’ The Bond movie-inspired name came because the concept seemed to match the ‘crazy gadgets, planes, boats and high-speed cars’, of the films.

Many will testify to Staluppi’s hands-on style when he builds a boat, and his attention to the detail of the engineering was evident right from the beginning. He realised that putting Detroit engines in For Your Eyes Only was a mistake.

‘Everyone was talking about water-jets and how much more efficient they would be when partnered up with MTUs.’ Staluppi did the research. ‘We pulled the engines out before the boat was finished and went to MTUs and water-jets. And I was the first one to bring MTUs and water-jets into the US in a motor yacht configuration.’

For Staluppi, 30 knots was never going to be enough. With the King of Spain and the Aga Khan looking to go faster, Staluppi wanted to do 50 knots in a much bigger boat – originally planned at 39m. He had already bought a power plant of three MTUs at 3,500hp each, before he even had a shipyard, but it wasn’t easy to find an engineer or a yard that thought it was enough power.

Staluppi kept looking and found fellow believers in designer Frank Mulder and entrepreneur turned shipbuilder Frans Heesen.

Fastest boat in the world

moonraker

Staluppi outlines the deal he cut with Heesen: ‘The boat has to do over 50 knots. If it does under 50 knots I don’t have to take the boat. If the boat does 51 knots or more, for every knot over 51 knots we would pay a $200,000 bonus.’

Heesen took on the challenge, building Octopussy in the Netherlands for a 1988 launch. Everyone worked hard at hitting the speed; Jeanette Staluppi’s first question when researching possible soft goods was, ‘How much does it weigh?’

When Octopussy was launched for sea trials, the coastguard cleared a runway.

‘I bought a radar gun, and we were on the boat for the first sea trial,’ says Staluppi. ‘Everybody was nervous because Frans Heesen could see his whole shipyard go out of business. He would own this boat if it didn’t do the speed. The boat does 50.5 knots, it was the first run. He was so happy.’

Staluppi still wasn’t done. ‘I said to Heesen, “Listen you could make this bonus. I would like you to cut the back corners, the chines off.” I felt the boat was running bow-down, so when the bow [went] down, there would be more drag.

‘Frans Heesen says, “No, no, no, I’m not going to do that.” I said, “Frans, you could make $200,000.” So he made me agree that if the boat went slower, I owned the boat. I said, “OK” and he cut the back of the boat off and we made 53 knots.

‘He was so happy because he got a $400,000 bonus. I was happy because now I owned the fastest yacht in the world.’

And that was something he liked a lot.

‘There’s only one fastest yacht in the world. When we pulled in there (to ports) everybody said, “That’s Octopussy.”’

The Staluppis cruised the Atlantic in her for a year and a half before selling – the competition was heating up again. ‘We got wind HH the Aga Khan was building a boat that was supposed to do 65 knots, and naturally I wanted to go faster. We built Moonraker. They [HH the Aga Khan and his boat] did 57-point-something knots and we built Moonraker and with that boat did 61 knots.’

Moonraker was launched in 1992, and the record was his again. But the Mulder-designed, Norship-built 36m Moonraker was a different boat for another reason. After Octopussy, Staluppi transitioned from building boats for a hobby into a more commercial outlook.

‘I decided to get into the boat building business, because we were familiar with it on the high-speed end, and I was selling the boats and making good money.’

It was 1998 when he formally started Millennium Super Yachts, and by 2012 John Staluppi had lifted his total to 18 boats. Nevertheless, he has a clear favourite, the aptly named The World Is Not Enough.

‘I wanted to build one more yacht which would set the standard, and make the (speed record) bar very high, very hard to achieve for someone.’

Record breaker

world is not enough

The World Is Not Enough was another collaboration with Frank Mulder, again built in the Netherlands, this time in a shipyard Staluppi had bought into – it has the Millennium Super Yachts label.

‘That boat was set to do 70 knots, but we could never get it to steer over 66 knots – as soon as it got to 65, 66 knots, it would either spin out to the right or the left. It was a massive spin-out, like being in a WaveRunner. We never ran that boat over 90 per cent power.’

Imagine what it’s like to wipe out in a 42m superyacht at just short of 70 knots. Staluppi admits it was ‘Very scary’. But even short of maximum power, The World Is Not Enough is a very impressive motor yacht.

‘Sport-fishing boats had started doing 42 knots, 44 knots, and some of the smaller boats did 50 miles an hour… We would go by those boats, I would have a cocktail in my hand, a nice martini and give the people a “how you doing?” Nobody could believe it.’

Staluppi believes that, pound for pound, it’s still the fastest boat out there.

It was Staluppi’s last really quick boat; since then, Millennium Super Yachts has changed direction.

‘We decided to build yachts for luxury, and the new boats we’re building for charter more than for resale. I see a nice business in the charter market.’

diamonds are forever

Since The World Is Not Enough there has been Casino Royale, a 49m Christensen, and Quantum of Solace, a 52m Benetti. The newest boat is another Benetti, the widely profiled 61m Diamonds Are Forever.

‘We’re intending to charter that boat three to four months a year. My ultimate goal, depending on the way the economy goes, is to have two or three of these boats for charter.’

The new business occupies a lot of Staluppi’s attention: ‘You have to be hands-on to make it work properly.’

He has two partners to help him run Atlantic Auto Group, which occupies about 50 per cent of his time, with the boats taking up the rest of a 14-hour day, six day a week routine. He also believes the marine industry has plenty it could learn from the car retail trade.

‘The boating business needs to learn how to handle customers like we do in the car business – more customer-friendly building of yachts would make a big change, and I see some of the brokers starting to use car dealer techniques.’

It’s not just the sales and customer relations that make a Staluppi boat special, though: the engineering that supported his early career is still very much his thing.

‘What we bring to a shipyard, no other owner can bring,’ he asserts.

Written by Maria Korotaeva

There have been numerous James Bond-related superyachts cruising throughout the Mediterranean and the Caribbean for the last four decades, and in most cases the names can be attributed to a single owner: John Staluppi . Rising from rags to riches during the golden age of the Automobile, the New York millionaire is the fulfilment of the American dream.

Yacht Skyfall by Trinity – Forward Profile

Starting out as a mechanic, his father quickly recognised his talent with automobiles and took out a loan on the house for his son to own a Sunco station. From there, John Staluppi gained enough success and experience to take a chance on the unknown Japanese brand Honda. Within ten years he had 20 dealerships and had expanded from motorcycles to cars.

His love of all things fast was not limited to wheels and in the mid-80s Staluppi owned his first superyacht. The high-speed nature of his vessel was reminiscent of the unusual gadgets and high-octane vehicles of the James Bond films, leading to the beginning of a naming convention that would last through the decades.

Spectre – 2018

Due to launch before summer 2018, 69m/226ft motor yacht SPECTRE is the latest hull from renowned Italian shipyard Benetti . Mulder Design reprises its role as naval architects for John Staluppi, while the interiors will be completed by  Giorgio M. Cassetta .

With a top speed of 21 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots, she may not be as fast as her predecessors but she has four decks dedicated purely to guest enjoyment and an extensive range of 6,500 nautical miles.

Diamonds Are Forever – 2011

Staluppi also had a 51m/167ft Benetti named motor yacht QUANTUM OF SOLACE (now known as ELYSIUM) , followed by 61m/200ft superyacht DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. British designer Evan K. Marshall styled her interiors with art deco accents, plenty of mirrors and captivating details such as the onyx floor and hand-beaten glass inlay.

The lavish amenities include a spa massage room, a beauty salon, a sauna and spa pool, a helipad and two Master suites. The accommodation has six cabins to sleep up to 12 guests and her skilled crew of 15 will keep events running smoothly.

Skyfall – 2010

Built by Trinity Yachts , 58m/190ft luxury yacht SKYFALL (ex.MI SUEÑO) is another from Staluppi’s collection available on the charter market and she offers guests timeless interiors for a relaxing and elegant holiday shared with family and friends.

Her large outdoor deck spaces are ideal for lounging in the warm breezes and the sundeck in particular offers a lounge, a deck area and hoop for basketball, a sundeck pool and a separate Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar.

Accommodation provides for 12 guests over 6 cabins, which includes a full-beam Master suite on the main deck forward.

Casino Royale – 2008

After attempting to reach 70 knots, Christensen -built superyacht CASINO ROYALE was a clear-cut departure from speed and a move towards luxury, capable of a leisurely cruising speed of 13 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.

Currently available on the charter market, she features interiors from Carol Williamson which were last refitted in 2015. The exceptional interior and exterior living spaces are matched by an equally stellar crew of 9, and the guest accommodation sleeps 12 guests over 6 cabins, one of which being a full-beam Master suite with a spa pool and multi-jet shower.

World Is Not Enough – 2004

In 1998 Staluppi began building his own shipbuilding company called Millennium Super Yachts, which later formed part of Neptunus-Millennium in the Netherlands .

john staluppi millennium yachts

World is Not Enough

To this day, Staluppi maintains that 42m/138ft superyacht THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH is his favourite:

‘That boat was set to do 70 knots, but we could never get it to steer over 66 knots,’ Staluppi reminisces. ‘As soon as it got to 65, 66 knots, it would either spin out to the right or the left. It was a massive spin-out, like being on a WaveRunner. We never ran that boat over 90 per cent power.’

Despite never reaching the desired 70 knots, Staluppi had plenty of fun outracing the other luxury yachts:

‘Sport-fishing boats had started doing 42 knots, 44 knots, and some of the smaller boats did 50 miles an hour… We would go by those boats, I would have a cocktail in my hand, a nice martini and give the people a “how you doing?” Nobody could believe it.’

Moonraker – 1992

It was only a year and a half after OCTOPUSSY was launched that Staluppi set his sights on an even faster yacht and commissioned Frank Mulder and Norship to make his dream into reality. Superyacht MOONRAKER reached 61 knots, which beat his closest competition, HH the Aga Khan, by 4 knots.

john staluppi millennium yachts

Built from a GRP hull and superstructure, she has a draft under 2m/7ft and a beam of 7m/24ft. The interiors were completed by Terence Disdale and feature elegant staircases, nautical murals and an abundance of outdoor space, including a sundeck fitted with a wet bar and Jacuzzi.

36m/118ft MOONRAKER also represented a shift in tone for John Staluppi; whereas before he was commissioning motor yachts for his passion for speed and high-end travel, he was now also considering the commercial side of superyachts, especially after OCTOPUSSY sold so well.

Octopussy – 1988

In the 1980s, Frans Heesen was still establishing his shipyard’s reputation on the global stage when he was approached by John Staluppi to build the fastest yacht in the world. Together with Frank Mulder, they created 54m/178ft superyacht OCTOPUSSY, the yacht that would make or break Heesen ‘s name.

john staluppi millennium yachts

As part of the build contract, Staluppi could choose not to take OCTOPUSSY should she do fewer than 50 knots at top speed. When the time for her sea trials came she proved she was capable of 50.5 knots, but Staluppi believed she could go even faster and promised Frans Heesen an additional $200,000 for every knot over 51 knots she could achieve. By removing the chines and reducing the drag, OCTOPUSSY reached 53 knots and Heesen became $400,000 richer.

OCTOPUSSY has since been available on the charter market and boasts a full-beam Master suite, an aft formal dining area that can be opened up to the main deck aft to create a lavish alfresco eating area, and a sundeck Jacuzzi with plenty of sunpads. Her accommodation sleeps up to 12 guests over 5 cabins and has a crew of 7. Although a refit and hull extension means that she is no longer capable of 53 knots, she will still take her guests through the Mediterranean in haste and style.

For Your Eyes Only – 1985

The first yacht owned by Staluppi, luxury yacht FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was a 36m/118ft hull built by Denison in 1985 and has since been known as DYNAMO V, LAKEWOOD LADY, I DON’T RECALL and most recently WANDERLUST.

‘I really wanted to have something different,’ says Staluppi. ‘I wanted to build the first boat over 100 feet (30.5 metres) that would go over 30 knots.’

Built with an aluminium hull and superstructure, M/Y FOR YOUR EYES ONLY has an impressively shallow draft of 1.4m/4.5ft, making her perfect for approaching close to beaches and entering sheltered bays and coves. Her accommodation sleeps 8 over 1 Master cabin, 1 VIP stateroom, 1 twin cabins and a further cabin that sleeps three. The crew accommodation is designed for up to 4. Coupled with her impressive cruising speed of 23 knots and a top speed of 30 knots, she has stood the test of time.

The high-speed nature of his luxury yacht was reminiscent of the unusual gadgets and high-octane vehicles of the James Bond films, leading to the beginning of a naming convention that would last through the decades.

Millennium 75 Express

  • By Jay Coyle
  • Updated: October 4, 2007

A sea trial with John Staluppi is hard to forget. My first was aboard the 60-knot, 115-foot, gas turbine/diesel-powered Moonraker in 1992. Breaking the sound barrier is no longer Staluppi’s sole focus, but creating high-quality, high-tech yachts remains his passion. He formed Golden Yachts with fellow yachtsman John Rosatti to develop the Millennium Series and called on Dutch naval architect Frank Mulder, long a key element of Staluppi’s successful formula, to design the series of yachts ranging from 75 to 151 feet. The first, the Millennium 75 Express, has an aggressive profile that more than suggests her performance capabilities-Staluppi’s unmistakable contribution to the 75’s design.

To her designer’s credit, the 75’s performance was achieved without compromise to creature comforts. Her afterdeck has a curved seating area, a wet bar and a built-in electric grill. Gates to port and starboard allow access to the water sports platform. Wide side decks and a sturdy rail lead to the foredeck sunpad and ground tackle system with electric windlass and chain rode. A curved, stainless-steel framed glass bulkhead has sliding doors that automatically lock in place in a seaway. The upper saloon has a seating group, entertainment center and full-service bar. The helm is laid out with power-assisted hydraulic steering, single lever DDC/MTU electronic controls and adjustable pilot and co-pilot seating. An L-shape settee and table provide guests a comfortable nest near the helmsman. When weather permits, glass panels in the overhead can be retracted with the push of a button to allow natural ventilation. Electrically actuated vents in the house face provide additional ventilation.

A 19-foot, 6-inch beam and relatively high sheer create a generous envelope for the 75’s interior. The lower saloon has a large, curved seating area, a table and an entertainment center. The open galley has a service counter that seats four. There is a guest stateroom forward with an island berth and private head. A second guest stateroom, adjacent to the saloon, has upper and lower berths and a private head with second-door access for use as a day head. A passageway leads aft from the saloon to a full-beam master stateroom with a settee, a desk, an entertainment center and a private head with whirlpool bath. Crew’s quarters for one and the machinery space are accessible from the transom platform.

Evan Marshall designed the 75’s interior, which is arranged more thoughtfully than any I have seen on this type of boat. The blend of natural lighting, cream-colored lacquered surfaces, granite counters and burl wood accents surmounts the cave-like feel some express designs suffer. First-class joiner detail and finishing complement Marshall’s work.

Millennium yachts are built to Golden Yachts’ specifications by a number of shipyards around the world. Golden Yachts supervises construction and commissions, and services the vessels at its 15-acre waterfront facility just north of the Port of Palm Beach. The 75 is built at the Neptunus yard in Holland. Female tooling was created for the project, and the hull and superstructure are a blend of multidirectional fiberglass reinforcements and marine-grade polyester resins. The bottom is a solid fiberglass laminate. Closed-cell foam coring is used to stiffen the topsides and superstructure. A network of fiberglass stringers and transverse frames, together with cored bulkheads, provides support. Core materials also were used in the construction of non-structural interior partitions and joinery.

A thorough weight estimate was completed prior to the 75’s construction, then compared with actual weights at various stages. Taking this approach with a new design keeps surprises to a minimum. The weight savings achieved by careful structural design and the use of core materials was balanced against the investment made in the 75’s lavish interior décor. As a result, her displacement of 45 tons fully loaded, while not ultra light, is quite respectable.

Standard equipment includes a bow thruster, chilled-water air conditioning and a 25kW generator fitted with a sound shield. Mechanical installations appear well executed, and machinery and components are accessible. By positioning the 75’s machinery space abaft the owner and guest accommodations and forward of the crew’s quarters, Mulder optimized the position of the engines in regard to performance. This, coupled with shallow propeller pockets in the hull, made it possible to use a conventional drive line and maintain appropriate tip clearance for the five-blade Teignbridge propellers. As a result, the 75’s draft of less than 5 feet makes her an ideal choice for wandering the Bahamas.

Mulder has a record of achieving performance targets in his designs. This is more a matter of sound engineering than luck. The 75’s hull form was tank-tested at speeds up to 53 knots and is balanced for her mission. She has relatively fine forward sections for the control of head seas at speed and flatter, more efficient after sections to maximize lift and speed potential. Standard power is a pair of 1,350 hp Detroit Diesel/MTU 12V 2000s. Golden Yachts’ performance data indicates a top speed of 36 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots. The company predicts a range of 900 nautical miles at 12 knots. The 75’s 2,128 gallons of fuel is carried in two aluminum wing tanks that feed an integral day tank.

The 75 Express is offered as a turnkey yacht with everything from interior décor accessories to docklines and a boarding ladder. The standard electronics package includes a 72-mile Furuno radar, a Northstar 961 GPS/plotter and a Robertson autopilot. Considering this, her price of $2,695,000 is quite competitive. Golden Yachts offers a variety of interior décor options. A flying bridge adds $200,000 to the base price.

If you enjoy going places in a hurry and arriving in style, the Millennium 75 Express is worth considering. She has the feel of a custom yacht, and with the limited production Golden Yachts expects (three boats a year), chances are she will remain a unique, distinctive ride as the market for her type continues to expand.

John Staluppi Yachts

Born in 1947 in Brooklyn, native New Yorker, John Staluppi started his life from humble beginnings. His father, Francis, was a hard working electrician who worked two jobs to make ends meet and his mother Millie was a homemaker. It was the 1950's - the golden years of the American automobile. There would never be another era like it and John Staluppi was fortunate enough to have witnessed the innovation, imagination, and vision in the automotive industry. Even though his father encouraged him to become an electrician, John was already bitten by the car bug. His father did, however, teach John the value of quality, hard work, family and friends. John went for the American dream and had the courage to do what he really loved – to be a part of the automotive industry in America.

He was rebellious and had a run in with the law in his youth, but was able to move forward towards his dream. First, he started out as a 16 year old mechanic. John was motivated and talented and soon became an expert in cars. It was at this time that his dad recognized John's exceptional drive and decided to help. His father took out a loan so his son could run a Sunoco station. John Staluppi is incredibly grateful to his father for his support and guidance during that time. Through creative marketing, John was able to make this and other gas stations a success. With these successes and practical experiences, he was able to take a risk on a venture called Honda - an unknown name at the time. John Staluppi was, however, able to see it's potential. Within a decade of hard work, he owned close to 20 dealerships and the Honda name took off in the United States. His commitment to Honda during this time, made him an integral part of shaping the automotive industry. The next venture for John Staluppi was Hyundai, another solid success. The Hyundai investment showcased his business philosophy - to stay with quality franchises, focus on a particular market and try to get the best people. Through all successes, John Staluppi always made sure he put people first. In fact, John is proud that there is a sign in all his dealerships that reads "Every visitor to our dealership is an honored guest in our home, every day, every time, without fail, no exceptions". This statement represents his commitment to his customers over the years.

John Staluppi also expanded his interest into the yachting industry, since he had always enjoyed boating and sportfishing in the 70's and 80's on Long Island. John Staluppi had the motivation and character to succeed at anything he put his mind to. So he created the highly successful - Millennium Super Yachts , a line of custom yachts that is unsurpassed in creativity, beauty and speed. John Staluppi has also created a Classic Car Museum in Florida called " Cars of Dreams " where he regularly hosts local charity events.

John Staluppi 's successes were never just for him. He vowed that if ever really made it - he would help those less fortunate. He grew up with an intimate knowledge of people who have a tough life - and now he feels an obligation to help needy people have an easier life in some way. The list of charities and fundraisers that John is involved with is extensive -from Hospice, National Kidney Registry, to Make a Wish Foundation - John Staluppi says that each charity event keeps him down to earth. When a child hugs him for granting his wish (Make a Wish Foundation) or when he can provide state of the art wheelchairs for spinal cord injury victims (Darrell Gwynn Foundation) - John Staluppi says “ I hope this is my legacy.”
