A unique scow bow makes the Revolution 29 spacious and fast We are going to have some fun this month—there is an interesting trio of boats to review. I don't know if you have been following the MiniTransat class ocean racers but you should.

The Revolution 29 comes standard with a 18hp engine with 30hp option, a 100L diesel tank and a 90L water tank, with space for a supplementary water tank if needed. It has two cabins, being the frontal one open to the saloon with the possibility of being closed and a huge space for storage, on the back of the boat and a bit everywhere.

The Rêvolution 29 is a moderate weight sailboat which is a very high performer. It is stable / stiff and has a low righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a fast cruiser. The fuel capacity is originally small. There is a very short water supply range.

The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Rêvolution 29 is about 173 kg/cm, alternatively 971 lbs/inch. Meaning: if you load 173 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 971 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Looking at two boats a French mag compared the Revolution 29 against, we see that the Django 980 is longer, a ton lighter and carries a much bigger rig than the Revolution, so it must surely be faster overall. The RM 970 is significantly lighter than the Revolution and therefore probably faster although it has a smaller rig.
