Explore the GLS SERIES

Cruisers Yachts’ GLS line is at the very forefront of design and performance in the mid-sized, luxury yacht market. The bowriders — which range from 34 to 50 feet — are both fast and agile, but also have an incredible amount of interior volume. The blend of these seemingly at odds traits is directly owed to Cruisers Yachts’ talented workforce, which has the ability to draw from years of experience to handcraft world-class vessels.

The GLS series propulsion ranges from stern drive to triple 600 HP outboard engines hitting top ends well above a sizzling 50 mph. The boats also have beach doors — foldout sections of their gunnels that vastly increase the size of their swim platforms and the connection to the water. This feature greatly enhances a boat’s capabilities as an entertainment platform. GLS models also offer a level of fit and finish that is not seen anywhere else in this size and class of boat.

From the tight joinery in the accommodations level woodwork to the intricate stitching on the upholstery in the bow lounge, the craftsmanship one finds aboard a Cruisers Yachts GLS cannot be beat.

Cruisers Yachts 34 GLS running at sea

The newest in Cruisers Yachts’ fleet of GLS boats, a group of boats that ranges up to 42 feet in length, the 34 GLS shines as an example of a design informed by the desires of those boaters who seek to impress and entertain their guests while retaining the ability to enjoy weekends aboard with a smaller group in high style and plush comfort.

Of course, any boat’s ability to fulfill its promise starts with its ride and performance. The 34 GLS utilizes Mercury outboard power to deliver brisk speeds, shallow-draft capability for visiting beaches and coves, and quiet, vibration-free operation. The exclusive JPO joystick greatly enhances maneuverability—and lowers the stress level of the helmsperson—while docking or in other tight spots, giving the captain confident control. Just twist or push the joystick in the direction you need the boat to go, and it goes there.

The topside layout serves as a blueprint for a boat built to host a party. There are easy and natural pedestrian traffic routes for milling and mingling guests. And the ambience is fresh and modern thanks to aesthetic cues such as the angular edges of the helm, lounges and other items. Specifics include an innovative aft cockpit with two designer-style convertible lounges, the one to starboard larger than the one to port. The backrests of these can be arrayed to face forward or aft, and the larger one becomes a sun lounge. The broad swim platform provides unfettered water access and easy boarding dockside, and expands socializing space. In the bow, find additional elegant seating. Sit around the table, or fill the center and create another big sun lounge.

Belowdecks, find a well-lit and stylish space with a private aft stateroom (you’ll claim this space), and a forward dinette that converts into a spacious berth. The lower galley boasts a refrigerator, microwave and TV. The 34 GLS’s head rivals that of larger cruising boats with its vessel sink, residential-style commode, standing shower and designer fixtures.

Tackling moscow by train and boat.

Our first full day in Moscow started fairly late since we were still catching up on sleep.  Around 1, we finally were able to get our act together and get out the door.

We stopped by a cafe to get some breakfast and headed over to the Red Square.  Since the festival is going on, we had to go through metal detectors.  Once we cleared security, we reached the State Historical Museum which provided an entrance to the Red Square.

We walked the length of the Red Square, passing by the Kazan cathedral.

Under normal conditions, the Red Square is a large walking area with the State Historical Museum on one end and St. Basil's on the other end.  On the sides is the Kremlin wall on one side and then the GUM shopping mall and the Kazan cathedral on the other side.  Presently, the walking area has been considerably narrowed and the fesitval grounds occupying a large space between the Kremlin and the mall.

We even asked a stranger to take our picture!

After walking around the Red Square, we had to leave to meet up with our Metro Tour.

Moscow has famously pretty metro stations so metro tours are quite popular.  We booked a relatively inexpensive tour through a tour group which met outside of the Red Square.

On our way, we passed by the Kremlin gardens and the tomb to the unknown soldier and the eternal flame.

We soon met up with our group which, fortunately, was only 5 people.  Our guide told us that we were going to visit 8 stations during the 1.5 hour tour.

Honestly, a lot of the stations blended in to me so I won't be able to give you a detailed description of all of them.  However, I did learn that there are 222 metro stations and the trains come every 2-3 minutes reliably.  For that reason, Moscow > DC.

One of the first metro stations we visited had bronze statues all over of various depictions.  Many of the statues had superstitions tied to them.  For example, for a statue of the dog, it's held that if you rub the nose of the dog, you'll have good luck.  Consequently, most of the statue is tarnished - except for the nose.  I joked to Tomas that they probably rotate the "good luck" portion of the statue to ensure the entire statue gets polished.

However, I do remember some of the stations.

Novoslobodskaya is a station adorned with stained glass on the walls.

cruiser yachts 34 gls

There was also Belarusskaya, which paid tribute to Belarus.

Another station which name I cannot remember but had pretty mosaics in the ceilings.

cruiser yachts 34 gls

My favorite station was Komsomolskaya.  It's the busiest station and a hub for other connecting trains.  It was built during Statlin times and he wanted the station to embody beauty to set a good first impression to Russia.

I'd seen pictures of it beforehand since it's the most famous but it's so much more impressive in person.

Look at these ceilings!

cruiser yachts 34 gls

Overall it was a very interesting tour.  Not sure of any other city which could offer a metro tour.  DC certainly can't...

After the tour, we headed back of the hotel to rest for a bit.  We had purchased tickets to a tour hour boat down the Moscow river.  The tickets were good for any time on any day and the boats left every 20min.  We decided to knock the tour out that day and headed over to the pier.

We arrived at the pier and saw a boat by the company we had purchased from boarding.  We approached and they shook their head and said it wasn't the right boat.

So we waited for another boat.

Another boat came along by the same company we had purchased from so weapproached them.  Again - we were told it wasn't the right boat and the boat we were looking for was coming.

A third boat came along which was NOT by the company we had purchased from.  By this point, it had been longer than 20min waiting and I was starting to suspect that the correct boat was actually one of the ones which turned us away.   We approached the 3rd boat to ask if they knew which boat we should be on.  However, when we approached,  they waved us aboard without scanning our tickets.

So, we boarded the 3rd boat....which was definitely not ours.

We settled into an upper deck, open air table to take in the views.

We passed by pretty buildings.

After about hour on the cruise, Tomas remarked that it had been about an hour so we should be turning around soon.  I reminded him that we actually had no idea how long this cruise was or where we would be dropped off.  Since we were on the wrong boat.

Fortunately, it did turn around and took us back to the pier.

For dinner, we decided to go to this burger place, Black Star Burger, which our guide told us about.  Tomas really liked his - I thought mine was OK.  It was a decent size patty with a mountain of Cole slaw on top.  We've realized that apparently Russians dislike getting their hands dirty while eating so some restaurants will give out gloves to use.  This particular restaurant gave out black gloves.

Tomas modeling our dinner.

Since little mum has been asking about pictures which show my feet, I assume she wanted to see my new shoes.  I recently bought Allbirds which are suppose to be super comfortable walking shoes which you wear without socks and can be washed.  I didn't wear them too extensively beforehand, so that was probably my first error.  I also didn't bring another pair of good walking shoes,  which was likely my second error.  The Allbirds were great the first two days without socks.  Midway through the third day, my right foot was quite unhappy. Left foot was a trooper. So, now I have a bandaid on the heel of my right foot and wear socks.

Saksharta Diwas Essay in Hindi

Saksharta Diwas Par Nibandh For School & College Students

Saksharta Diwas Short Essay in Hindi |

Paragraph on Literacy in Hindi!

  • Essay on Illiteracy in India

Students are often asked to write an essay on Illiteracy in India in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Illiteracy in India

Introduction.

Illiteracy is a major issue in India, affecting the nation’s development. It refers to the inability to read or write.

Illiteracy is primarily due to poverty, lack of educational facilities, and gender inequality. Many children can’t attend school due to economic hardship.

Illiteracy leads to unemployment and poverty, creating a vicious cycle. It also hampers social and economic growth.

Government initiatives, NGOs, and society can play a crucial role in eradicating illiteracy. Education must be accessible and affordable to all.

250 Words Essay on Illiteracy in India

India, despite its significant advancements in various sectors, continues to grapple with the issue of illiteracy. A sizable portion of the population lacks basic reading and writing skills, which poses a significant barrier to the nation’s socio-economic development.

The Extent of Illiteracy

According to the 2011 census, India’s literacy rate was 74.04%, leaving approximately a quarter of the population illiterate. This figure, however, masks disparities across regions, genders, and social groups. Rural areas, women, and marginalized communities are disproportionately affected, reflecting deep-rooted social inequalities.

Underlying Causes

The causes of illiteracy in India are multifaceted. Poverty plays a significant role, forcing children into labor at a young age and denying them educational opportunities. Additionally, inadequate school infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, contributes to high dropout rates. Furthermore, societal norms and gender biases often restrict girls’ access to education.

The Impact of Illiteracy

Illiteracy hampers individuals’ potential and restricts their access to opportunities. It perpetuates poverty and social inequality, hindering India’s progress towards its development goals. Illiterate individuals are more likely to suffer from poor health, low income, and social exclusion.

Addressing illiteracy requires a comprehensive approach that encompasses improving school infrastructure, promoting gender equality, and alleviating poverty. Only by ensuring that every citizen is literate can India fully harness its human potential and achieve sustainable development. The fight against illiteracy is not just about teaching people to read and write; it’s about creating a more equitable society where everyone has the chance to thrive.

500 Words Essay on Illiteracy in India

Introduction: the landscape of illiteracy in india, the root causes of illiteracy.

The roots of illiteracy in India can be traced back to numerous factors. Socioeconomic disparities, gender inequality, and inadequate infrastructure are among the primary contributors. Poverty often forces children out of school and into labor, thus perpetuating the cycle of illiteracy. Similarly, gender discrimination often leads to the denial of education for girls, contributing to the high rate of female illiteracy.

The lack of quality educational infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, is another significant factor. Many schools lack basic facilities, qualified teachers, and teaching materials, leading to high dropout rates and poor learning outcomes.

The Consequences of Illiteracy

At the societal level, high illiteracy rates impede economic growth and social development. It restricts the country’s human capital and hampers innovation and productivity. Moreover, illiteracy exacerbates social issues such as population growth and health problems, as illiterate individuals often lack awareness about family planning and healthcare practices.

Strategies to Combat Illiteracy

Addressing illiteracy requires multifaceted strategies. Firstly, improving access to quality education is crucial. This involves enhancing the school infrastructure, training teachers, and ensuring availability of teaching materials.

Thirdly, adult education programs need to be strengthened to provide literacy skills to those who missed out on formal education. These programs should be flexible, relevant, and linked to livelihood opportunities to ensure their effectiveness.

Conclusion: The Way Forward

The issue of illiteracy in India is complex and deeply entrenched. However, with concerted efforts from the government, civil society, and individuals, it can be overcome. The key lies in understanding that literacy is not just about reading and writing, but about empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills to improve their lives and contribute to society. As Nelson Mandela rightly said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

This article evaluates the progress in literacy among the Indian states, from an age-cohort perspective. It argues that age-cohort analysis offers a robust understanding of the dynamics of literacy progress. The article clearly brings out the fact that, despite the accomplishment of universal elementary education, achieving the goal of full literacy is quite difficult, owing to the existence of an out-of-school-age illiterate population. Thus, the study suggests provision of an effective adult-literacy programme along with universal elementary education in order to realize the goal of full literacy. Further, it argues that comparisons based on the average literacy rate have led to a computation of a “literacy deprivation index” adjusted with age structure—and that such adjustment leads us to view the literacy gap across all the states as wider, given that it assumes lower values. This minimal standardization, along with the age structure of the population, offers a valid comparison of this commonly used indicator. Its prospect of progress, too, is largely dependent upon the emerging age structure of the population as a result of the unfolding demographic transition.

Illiteracy is a serious social issue of the present era especially in the developing countries like Pakistan. Illiteracy is a social evil. It has very harmful effects on society. An illiterate person is unaware of the causes of his/her creation, does not know anything about his/her rights and duties. He does not understand law of the country and cannot make material progress in the world with the force of education and knowledge. He is unable to get good job in any public or govt. sector. Illiteracy is the "inability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying context (UNESCO). In 1930 the U.S. Bureau of the Census defined as illiterate any person over ten years of age who was unable to read and write in any language. By the next census (1940), the concept of "functional" illiteracy was adopted. Any person with less than five years of schooling was considered functionally illiterate, or unable to engage in social activities in which literacy is assumed. The present study was conducted to investigate various causes of illiteracy in rural areas of Tehsil Phalia, District Mandi Bahauddin Punjab Pakistan. The sample of 120 respondents was selected by using simple random sampling. The data were collected by interview schedule and it was analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study investigated that there were many causes of illiteracy. Poverty, parental illiteracy, lack of educational facilities, social and cultural disputes, unemployment, behavior of teacher and lack of children interest were the main causes of illiteracy. The finding of study depicted that 60% people were illiterate due to poverty. Illiteracy is not only a social evil but also causes many other social evils. It has very harmful effects on society. Both NGOs and Government should play their vital role for reduction of illiteracy.

Instruction isn't an extravagance yet a right. Be that as it may, poor framework, absence of offices, and the expanding expense of instruction are the principle reasons why lack of education is across the board in India. No legitimate motivations for training, non-authorization of discipline for nonappearance in this way, are different reasons why instruction isn't favored in our nation.

Introduction

  • The Population Commission of United Nations considers the ability, to both read and write a simple message with understanding in any language, a sufficient basis for classifying a person as Literate
  • It was decided at the 1991 Census that all Children in the age group 0-6, would be treated as illiterate by definition and the population aged seven years and above only would be classified as literate or illiterate
  • It should be noted clearly that, it is not necessary that to be treated as literate, a person should have received any formal education or acquired any minimum educational standard
  • Crude Literacy rate = ((No of literate persons)/Total population)*100
  • Effective literacy rate = ((Number of Literate persons aged 7 and above)/Population aged 7 and above)*100
  • Here, Effective literacy rate and literacy rate will be used interchangeably

Literacy rate-Trends

  • The corresponding figures for male and female are 82.14% and 65.46% respectively
  • Overall improvement – 9.21%
  • Improvement of literacy rate in male – 6.88%
  • Improvement of literacy rate in female – 11.79%
  • Literacy rate in urban areas was higher 87.7% than rural areas with 73.5%, according to 2011 Census

Literates and Illiterates by Gender

  • One of the interesting feature of Census 2011 is that out of total literates added during the decade, females out number males
  • The decadal(from 2001-2011) increase in number of literates among males is 31.98%; while the corresponding increase in case of females is of 49.1%
  • The above two changes are a clear indication of the fact that gender gap in literacy is shrinking in the country
  • Bihar(73.39%) state has recorded the lowest male literacy rate
  • Rajasthan(52.66%) state has recorded the lowest female literacy rate

Regional Variations in Literacy Rates

  • Kerala ranks first in the country with a literacy rate of 93.91%, closely followed by Lakshadweep (92.28%) and Mizoram(91.58%)
  • Bihar with a literacy rate of 63.82% ranks last in the country, preceded by Arunachal Pradesh (66.95%) and Rajasthan(67.06%)
  • The gap in literacy rates of males and females is lowest in Meghalaya (3.1 percentage points) and less than 5 percentage points in the States of Kerala and Mizoram and between 5 to 10 percentage points in A&N Island, Chandigarh, Goa, Lakshadweep Nagaland, Punjab and Tripura
  • The gap in literacy rates of males and females is highest in the State of Rajasthan (27.1 percentage points) and much more in the States of Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh

Measures taken in India towards increasing Literacy rate

  • Education of Minorities: Article 30 of the Indian Constitution gives all minorities the right to establish and administer institutions of their own choice
  • Free and Compulsory Education: The Constitution of India (u/a 41, 45 and 46 of the Directive Principles of State Policy) instructs the state to ensure that all citizens receive free education
  • The program was launched in 2001, and it aims to universalise education and improves its quality by time-bound implementation strategy and context-specific planning. It includes children from all social classes
  • This plan was launched in 1995 to provide mid-day meals to children studying in primary class. The main objective of creating this scheme was to eliminate classroom hunger of children and to increase attendance and enrolment of children at schools
  • The Right to Education (RTE) Act was enacted in 2009, and this Act made education for every child between 6 and 14 years a fundamental right
  • The National Education Policy  2020, aims to achieve 100% youth and adult literacy.

Efforts needed to take India’s Literacy rate to greater heights

  • We should focus on revamping curriculum and pedagogy to bring modern and innovative elements within it and making it a lot more rigorous.
  • Create a national discourse and imperative around the importance of good quality school leadership. This will help in improving and maintaining school quality , nurturing a learning culture within schools, maintaining teacher motivation, ensuring respect for and involvement of all stakeholders
  • Work on expanding the idea of good education. There is need to extend it beyond rote learning of concepts. It should largely focus on cognitive development to a belief that values the uniqueness of a child and the celebration of different definitions of ‘intelligence’.
  • Extend the scope. With the Right to Education (RTE) Act now making primary education compulsory, there is need look at extending its scope to include pre-primary education (which is not there in all states).

Essay on illiteracy in india (416 words).

literacy rate in hindi essay

ADVERTISEMENTS:

Essay on Illiteracy in India!

While India is still struggling to eradicate illiteracy, it is heartening to note that our literacy rate has gone up from 25 per cent in 1951 to 64.8 per cent in 2001. It is true that this percentage includes everyone who knows how to read and write a few alphabets, and may not be considered a true indicator of education; however, the rise in the percentage is quite noticeable.

It indicates how much still remains to be done to achieve 100 per cent literacy. It also shows the magnitude of demand that is likely to be made on the education system for higher learning. Infrastructure will have to be expanded to accommodate the burgeoning number of students seeking admission to secondary, higher secondary, and tertiary education.

The classrooms, teachers, libraries and laboratory facilities, hostels, and playfields needed for the rising number of student clientele will have to be provided. Already we know that the existing system is unable to meet the rising demand.

As a consequence, many surrogate institutions have sprung up outside of the education system to train aspiring students. Coaching centre’s, tuition classes, ‘institutes’ and ‘universities’ have been set up in the private sector, not all of which are of acceptable standards. Such institutions have commercialized education and put it beyond the reach of the poor and the deprived.

A continuing worry is the lower rate of literacy among women. Sixty per cent of the non-literates in India are women, although the female literacy rate has gone up from 9 per cent in the 1950s to 54 per cent in 2001. But the gender gap in literacy is enormous; the difference between the male and female literacy rate is 22 percentage points – that is, there are more male literates than female.

Some states and some areas within the states have shown higher rates of illiteracy among women, and efforts are afoot to improve the situation through the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan of the government of India. As is expected, the literacy rate in the urban areas is higher than in the rural. Table 1 illustrates this.

Literacy Rate in India : Rural-Urban and male-female

It is clear that change has occurred in the literacy profile on both variables, namely gender and settlement, and the change is for the better. Because of the changes in literacy, one can expect changes in other aspects of the life of the people in terms of job opportunities, marriage, and mobility. It might also bring about changes in interpersonal and inter-group relations.

literacy rate in hindi essay

There is an old saying that India is a new country but an ancient civilization, and this civilization has seen tremendous changes throughout its history.

From being an education hub of the world in ancient times to becoming the IT hub of the world today, the Indian landscape has come a long way. Taking 15 th August 1947 as our frame of reference, we find that there are several fields like Science and Technology, economy, and human development where India has shown remarkable progress. However, some fields like health and education still seem to be taken care of. Let us look at these aspects of Indian development individually.

The Landscape of Science and Technology

When the Britishers left India, they left behind a broken, needy, underdeveloped, and economically unstable country. After independence, India prioritized scientific research in its first five-year plan. It paved the way for prestigious scientific institutes like IITs and IISC. After just three years of independence, the Indian Institute of Technology has established in 1950. These institutions promoted research in India with the aid of foreign institutions. From launching its first satellite Aryabhatta in 1975 to being the first country to reach the orbit of Mars, India has taken confident strides in the field of space research technology, thanks to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). We can proudly state that India is standing at par with countries like USA and China, same goes with the field of biotechnology also where India is producing vaccines for the entire world. The success of UPI is also a case study for the world with 9.36 billion transactions worth Rs. 10.2 trillion in Q1 of 2022 only.

Economic Landscape

India faced several issues following its independence, including illiteracy, corruption, poverty, gender discrimination, untouchability, regionalism, and communalism. Numerous issues have acted as major roadblocks to India's economic development. When India declared its independence in 1947, its GDP was mere 2.7 lakh crore accounting for 3% of the world GDP. In 1965, the Green Revolution was started in India by M. S. Swaminathan, the father of the Green Revolution. During the Green Revolution, there was a significant increase in the crop area planted with high-yielding wheat and rice types. From 1978–1979, the Green Revolution led to a record grain output of 131 million tonnes. India was then recognized as one of the top agricultural producers in the world. With the construction of linked facilities like factories and hydroelectric power plants, a large number of jobs for industrial workers were also generated in addition to agricultural workers.

Today India is the 5 th largest economy in the world with 147 lakh crore GDP, accounting for 8% of global GDP. In recent years, India has seen a whopping rise of 15,400% in the number of startups, which rose from 471 in 2016 to 72,993 as of June 2022. This phenomenal rise in startups has also produced millions of new jobs in the country.

Infrastructure

The India of today is different from India at the time of freedom. In the 75 years of independence, Indian Infrastructure has improved drastically. The overall length of the Indian road network has grown from 0.399 million km in 1951 to 4.70 million km as of 2015, which makes it the third largest roadway network in the world. Additionally, India's national highway system now spans 1, 37, 625 kilometres in 2021, up from 24,000 km (1947–1969).

After over 70 years of independence, India has risen to become Asia's third-largest electricity generator. It increased its ability to produce energy from 1,362 MW in 1947 to 3, 95, 600 MW. In India, the total amount of power produced increased from 301 billion units in 1992–1993 to 400990.23 MW in 2022. The Indian government has succeeded in lighting up all 18,452 villages by April 28, 2018, as opposed to just 3061 in 1950, when it comes to rural electrification.

The Landscape of Human Development

In 1947 India had a population of 340 million with a literacy rate of just 12%, today it has a population of nearly 1.4 billion and a literacy rate of 74.04%. The average life expectancy has also risen from 32 years to 70 years in 2022.

The Landscape of Education and Health

In 1947, India had a population of 340 million with a literacy rate of just 12%, today it has a population of nearly 1.4 billion and a literacy rate of 74.04%. The average life expectancy has also risen from 32 years to 70 years in 2022. Though India has shown remarkable progress In terms of literacy rate, the quality of higher education is still a cause of major concern. There is not a single Indian University or Institute in the top 100 QS World University Ranking. With the largest youth population in the world, India can achieve wonders if its youth get equipped with proper skills and education. The health, sector is also worrisome. The doctor-to-patient ratio is merely 0.7 doctors per 1000 people as compared to the WHO average of 2.5 doctors per 1000 people. A recent study shows that 65% of medical expenses in India are paid out of pocket by patients and the reason is that they are left with no alternative but to access private healthcare because of poor facilities in public hospitals.

The Political Landscape

Jawaharlal Nehru was appointed as India's first prime minister in 1947, following the end of British rule. He promoted a socialist-economic system for India, including five-year plans and the nationalization of large sectors of the economy like mining, steel, aviation, and other heavy industries. Village common areas were taken, and a massive public works and industrialization drive led to the building of important dams, roads, irrigation canals, thermal and hydroelectric power plants, and many other things. India's population surpassed 500 million in the early 1970s, but the “Green Revolution” significantly increased agricultural productivity, which helped to end the country's long-standing food problem.

From 1991 to 1996, India's economy grew quickly as a result of the policies implemented by the late Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao and his Finance Minister at the time, Dr Manmohan Singh. Poverty had decreased to about 22%, while unemployment has been continuously reducing. Growth in the gross domestic product exceeded 7%.

India's first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, held office from 1966 until 1977 for three consecutive terms before serving a fourth term (1980–84). India elected Pratibha Patil as its first female president in 2007.

India's economy has expanded significantly in the twenty-first century. Under the Prime ministership of Narendra Modi (BJP), many significant changes have taken place like the scraping of Section 370, strengthening the Defence systems, creating a startup-friendly environment and much more. To expand infrastructure and manufacturing, the Modi administration launched several programs and campaigns, including “Make in India”, “Digital India”, and the “Swachh Bharat project.”

The Legal Landscape

Before independence, the Privy Council was the highest appellate authority in India. This Council was abolished as the first action following independence. The abolition of the Privy Council Jurisdiction Act was passed by the Indian Constituent Assembly in 1949 to eliminate the Privy Council's authority over appeals from India and to make provisions for outstanding appeals. It was B. R. Ambedkar's sharp legal intellect to draft a constitution for the newly sovereign country. In all executive, legislative, and judicial matters in the nation, the Constitution of India serves as the supreme law. The Indian legal system has developed into a key component of the largest democracy in the world and a pivotal front in the fight to protect constitutional rights for all citizens. Since it was first adopted in 1950, the Indian Constitution has had 105 modifications as of October 2021. The Indian Constitution is divided into 22 parts with 395 articles. Later, through various changes, further articles were added and amendments were made. According to the online repository maintained by the Legislative Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice of India as of July 2022, there are around 839 Central laws. The Indian legal system has a promising and forward-thinking future, and in the twenty-first century, young, first-generation lawyers are entering the field after graduating from the best law schools.

The Landscape of the Defence Sector

The Indian military ranked 4 of 142 out of the countries considered for the annual GFP review. From being defeated by the Chinese army in 1962 to becoming one of the largest defence systems in the world, India has surely learnt from its past errors. One of the reasons the Indian defence system has been able to attain its present reputation is the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) which was established in 1958. Since its founding, it has created many significant programs and critical technologies, including missile systems, small and big armaments, artillery systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, tanks, and armoured vehicles. India began working on nuclear energy in the late 1950s and had indigenous nuclear power stations by the 1970s. India had also begun developing nuclear weapons and producing fissile material concurrently, which allowed for the purportedly harmless nuclear explosion in Pokhran in 1971. The Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP), under the direction of APJ Abdul Kalam and with the support of the Ordnance Factories, was established in 1983. In 1989, the longer-range Agni was independently designed and tested. Later, India and Russia collaborated to design and produce the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile. India currently leads several other nations in the production of defences. India is one of about a dozen nations that have built and produced their fighter jets, helicopters, submarines, missiles, and aircraft carriers.

Analyzing the different landscapes of India we find that we have come a long way in our journey but still, there is a lot to be done if we want to make India a ‘super power’. A lot will depend on our people’s willingness to change, ensuring the equal participation of women in the workforce, including marginalized communities in our economic growth, and last but not least is having a liberal and progressive and unbiased mindset.

As we are celebrating “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the completion of 75 years of independence can be taken as a new opportunity to build an India of our aspirations and make positive contributions to the changing landscape of India.

Essay on Financial Literacy in Hindi (1)

(Essay on Financial Literacy in Hindi)

This Blog Includes:

Essay on Financial Literacy in Hindi

Essay on Financial Literacy in Hindi

Essay on Financial Literacy in Hindi
