Its offerings of 700 vessels from 16 to 165 feet includes many global debuts, from sailing vessels to motoryachts, to multihulls and a dozen other boat types. The show has about 4 miles of dock space.

While Cannes doesn’t have the superyacht glitz of the Monaco Yacht Show, its fleet continues to grow each year, both by units and hull lengths. Its two locations, Vieux Port and Port Canto, have very different fleets. Located in the heart of the city along the famed Croisette, Vieux Port is one of the oldest ports on the Côte d’Azur and home to the largest motoryachts and superyachts at the show. This year will also see Port Canto, the smaller exhibition area usually reserved for sailing yachts, dedicate space to motorboats with lengths of 43 feet and under.

Headliners this year will include the 148-foot Tankoa Go , the 114-foot compact explorer Fox from Pendennis, Otam’s 90-foot Sexy Me , and two new models from Azimut’s Seadeck Series of low emission yachts, the Seadeck 6 and 7.

Here are 12 must-see boats at this year’s show.

Pendennis ‘Fox’

The recently delivered, 114-foot Fox is an explorer yacht named after Falmouth-born, 19th-century scientist Robert Were Fox the Younger, who invented the compass that guided the first expedition to the South Pole. Built by Pendennis shipyard in Falmouth, U.K., the yacht marries a muscular, military-style exterior with bright and modern beach-house interiors. It sleeps 10 guests in five suites, including a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck.

Columbus Atlantique 43 ‘Frette’

The second hull in Columbus Yachts’s 141-foot Atlantique 43 series, Frette features Frette Bespoke linens—the Italian luxury brand the yacht is named after. The exterior and interior are designed by Hot Lab, with naval architecture by Hydro Tec. The yacht is defined by its large outdoor areas. A highlight is the 16-square-foot pool at the stern positioned about two feet above the waterline. Guest accommodations on Frette ‘s lower deck include five double cabins, three twins, and two VIPs that can convert into one large VIP suite.

OTAM ‘Sexy Me’

Otam’s new flagship yacht, the Otam 90 GTS Sexy Me , will make its world debut at Cannes following successful sea trials where the 92-footer hit blistering speeds of 45 knots—three knots faster than its contracted top speed. The power comes from a pair of 2,600 hp MTU engines and Arneson surface-drive propellers. Fittingly, the yacht’s helm console is inspired by racing cars with a carbon-fiber structure that resembles the protective “halo” system used by Formula 1 cars. The air intakes on the front of the yacht and “snorkel” on the hardtop purposely resemble the hood and roof scoops on luxury supercars.

60 Sunreef Power Eco

The 60 Sunreef Power Eco is the smallest model in its solar catamaran range. Launched under the Sunreef Yachts Eco flag, the 60-footer relies on engineered solar panels developed in-house by the Polish builder. The photovoltaic technology uses efficient, shock-resistant, flexible, and ultra-thin solar panels integrated in the yacht’s composite structure, including the hull, mast, superstructure, bow terrace, and bimini roof. Key features include a customizable semi-open salon, a large bow terrace and flybridge with a spa pool, a bar, a dining area, and sunpads. It may be 60 feet long, but its interior volume equals a yacht 20 feet longer.

Azimut Seadeck 6

The 58-foot Seadeck 6 is the debut model from Azimut’s Seadeck Series of low emission yachts. According to Azimut, owners can save as reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by as much as 40 percent. The savings come from a lightened carbon-fiber superstructure, a hybrid propulsion system and an optimized hull that is wider at the stern and streamlined at the bow. According Azimut, the hull shape allows the yacht to plane sooner, reducing drag at lower speeds. Azimut’s 72-foot sistership Seadeck 7 will also be at Cannes, where it will make its world debut.

Custom Line ‘Sodan’

Ferretti’s 126-foot Sodan , the eighth hull in the popular Custom Line 120 series, will be shown at Cannes this year by Burgess Yachts. Its raised pilothouse is a key feature of Francesco Paszkowski Design’s sporty exterior. The studio is also responsible for the interior, which has a functional layout and large social areas. Five well-appointed guest cabins include a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck with a private owner’s lounge.

Tankoa Yachts ‘Go’

Tankoa is launching Go at Cannes, the first of its T450 series. The 148-footer may be the largest new yacht at the show, but it’s the first vessel under 164 feet built by the Italian yard. Go , with its steel hull and aluminum superstructure, was developed in partnership with Cassetta Yacht Design & Architecture. It’s built for an American client who increased the gross tonnage from 430GT to 450GT to allow for greater interior volume, including a large owner’s suite forward on the main deck and five lower deck guest cabins. The beach club at the stern has opening sides when at anchor and a pool. “ Go is a great addition to the Tankoa core fleet. It is an incredibly flexible platform on which we can create semi-custom yachts, offering big volumes without compromising on the sleek and elegant lines,” said Claudio Corvino, Tankoa’s sales and business development danager for the Americas and Asia-Pacific.

WiderCat ‘Acali’

Wider Centro Stile and Luca Dini Design penned the first hull in the WiderCat 92 serie s . Acali is a roomy catamaran, featuring the builder’s serial hybrid-propulsion system. The main deck is dedicated to the owner’s suite, with a private foredeck lounge that occupies almost half of the interior space on that level. Two VIP cabins and two twin guest cabins are located on the lower deck. The tender garage has a dropdown transom hatch that turns into a swim platform when lowered. On the upper deck is an additional forward cockpit, sky lounge, and helm station.

Omikron OT-60

The OT-60 is the debut model for Omikron Yachts, a new subsidiary brand owned by Greek shipbuilder Olympic Marine. The Cannes Yachting Festival marks the world premiere of the series, which has six hulls that have been completed or are in build. The interior and exterior configurations are designed by Lorenzo Argento, with naval architecture by Juan Kouyoumdjian. The interiors are styled by Ciarmoli Queda Studio, featuring natural materials, neutral colors, and tactile finishes.

Silent 62 Tri-Deck

Optimized for outdoor living and warm climate sailing, Silent Yacht’s 62 3-Deck , full-electric catamaran promises quiet, emissions-free cruising. Powered by the builder’s signature solar technology, the 62-footer has transoceanic range when cruising at eight knots. A signature design is the large flybridge entertaining space, with dining and lounging areas. It’s matched with a bright main deck salon with large windows, an open galley, and a dining area. The customizable third deck is available in three versions: an open sky lounge, a closed sky lounge, or an owner’s suite.

Sirena 48 Hybrid

This Sirena 48 is the Turkish builder’s first hybrid offering of its series. It’s powered by a serial hybrid powertrain driven by twin 213kW electric motors. When cruising at 14 knots in electric mode, it has a range of 30 nautical miles. Other changes to the regular Sirena 48 include a sleek coupe-style coach roof with glass and solar panels for a sportier look. Replacing the previous open-air flybridge, it allows natural light into the main salon while reducing weight to improve the yacht’s performance and range in pure-electric mode.

Riviera to showcase at 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival

Riviera will showcase the adventurous 465 and 505 SUVs and the sophisticated 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 10 to 15.

R iviera Australia owner Rodney Longhurst said Riviera and its European dealer representatives are delighted to display these yachts from the collection of over 20 magnificent models from 39 to 78 feet, where more than 6000 yachts launched by Riviera all share a 44-year history of evolution.

Mr Longhurst said: “We are immensely proud that Riviera has developed a respected and growing reputation as the boater’s boat in Europe since our first yacht was delivered to the region in 1985.

“Visitors to our display will be able to experience the supreme luxury, meticulous craftsmanship and ease of boating that has earned Riviera international regard. The 465 and 505 SUVs share a heritage that combines the spirited blue-water performance of the Riviera Sports Motor Yacht collection with the single-level entertaining ease of the Riviera Sport Yachts. Both models share design features of an expansive cockpit ideal for water-sports and entertaining, a semi-enclosed alfresco deck that is the yacht’s social centre and a foredeck perfectly suited for relaxed Mediterranean days at anchor. The alfresco deck on both yachts leads seamlessly to a light-filled saloon featuring a gourmet galley aft, the helm immediately forward with lounge and dining opposite.

The starboard stateroom features twin single berths.

Power is provided by twin Volvo Penta D8-IPS800s delivering 441kW (600hp) each.

Riviera 505 SUV – on display

The Riviera 505 SUV offers owners an accommodation deck that includes a full-beam master suite amidships with walk-in robe and chaise lounge, a VIP guest stateroom forward and a twin-berth guest cabin to starboard.

Power is provided by twin Volvo Penta D11-IPS950s delivering 533kW (725hp) each.

Riviera 4600 Sport Yacht – on display

The outstanding 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition offers a superb entertainer’s aft deck that features a wrap-around lounge, folding table and barbecue centre that really is a grand extension of the saloon living and entertaining space. The 4600 offers a choice of two or three staterooms with two bathrooms on the accommodation deck. The master suite is full-beam and features picturesque hull windows and a chaise lounge.

Kevin Costner et Horizon : des films 5, 6, 7 et 8 pour la star de Yellowstone ?

Kevin Costner a présenté à Cannes 2024 "Horizon", premier volet d'une épopée western en quatre films. Mais cette saga sur la naissance de l'ouest pourrait finalement aller bien au-delà...

"J'ai tourné trois jours du troisième film, et j'ai tout mis en pause pour venir à Cannes" , expliquait Kevin Costner en conférence de presse cannoise il y a quelques jours. "C'était très important pour moi de me rendre dans un endroit [comme Cannes] où les films sont accueillis avec ouverture. Dès que je repars, je reprends le tournage aussi longtemps que mon budget me le permettra..."

Un projet qui remonte à 1988

L'acteur-réalisateur-scénariste-producteur mène le projet artistique le plus ambitieux de sa carrière avec l'épopée western Horizon . Une histoire qu'il porte depuis 1988 (avant Danse avec les loups , donc) et qui a évolué d'une approche minimaliste autour de deux personnages à une vaste fresque dans l'ouest américain, alors que plusieurs destins se croisent autour d'une ville naissante baptisée Horizon.

En 2003, alors qu'il venait de réaliser son troisième long métrage Open Range , le projet Horizon avait failli aboutir avec Disney, comme l'expliquent nos confrères de GQ . 5 petits millions de dollars de budget feront capoter le projet, Kevin Costner refusant de compromettre sa vision. Il faudra attendre à nouveaux onze ans pour que l'idée soit relancée, avec Kevin Costner et le scénariste Jon Baird à la plume. Et surtout, Kevin Costner à la production, puisqu'il a injecté à date près de 38 millions de son argent personnel dans le financement.

Le résultat ? Une épopée inédite de quatre longs métrages, croisement inédit entre le grand écran et la série télévisée premium. "Cette histoire n'est pas terminée après le premier film" , nous explique Kevin Costner quand nous le rencontrons à Cannes en marge de la présentation du long métrage hors compétition. "Ce n'est pas un braquage de banque. Ce n'est pas une intrigue cadrée. C'est un voyage. Et j'espère qu'il sera intéressant. J'espère que vous aurez l'impression de voir de vraies personnes prendre de vraies décisions dans un pays qui était ouvert, alors qu'il n'y avait rien" .

"Kevin était tellement clair sur la façon dont il voulait que ce film soit présenté" , ajoute sa comédienne Isabelle Fuhrman , qui incarne une pionnière embarquée dans un convoi de colons vers Horizon. "Il voulait faire quelque chose de différent avec ce genre de western, il voulait vraiment faire quelque chose de très grand, de très vaste et de très épique, mais aussi qui vous rapproche vraiment de ce que ces gens vivaient pendant qu'ils colonisaient l'Ouest" .

Horizon 2, 3, 4... 5, 6, 7, 8 ?

"Avec le premier film, il met en place les trois prochains chapitres" , complète Luke Wilson , également colon dans cette aventure. "Ce que j'aime et admire chez Kevin, c'est qu'il prend son temps pour raconter l'histoire et pour mettre en place chaque histoire. Vous vous demandez si elles vont toutes se croiser... et nous ne le savons toujours pas parce que nous n'avons pas encore lu le troisième scénario ! J'espère que tout le monde se retrouvera à la fin..."

"Ces personnes commencent à peine leur voyage, qui est difficile, et elles ne font qu'apprendre", souligne Kevin Costner . "Certains habitants de l'Ouest ont eu de la chance. D'autres n'ont pas eu de chance. La violence est passée à côté de quelqu'un, et la violence en a touché d'autres. Au hasard. On ne sait donc pas qui va s'en sortir dans l'histoire..."

Dans cette incertitude propre à l'ouest sauvage, promesse d'opportunités mais aussi de dangers, même les comédiens ne connaissent pas le destin de leur personnage. "On entendait dire que les gens avaient lu le troisième film et on se demandait comment c'était" , s'amuse Luke Wilson . "Est-ce que je reviens dans le troisième ? Est-ce que je suis en vie ? Mais c'est ainsi qu'Horizon est pensé. On le découvre au fur et à mesure" .

Une découverte qui pourrait se prolonger au-delà de quatre films selon Sienna Miller , qui fait partie des quelques personnes à avoir eu accès aux quatre scénarios. Au point de penser initialement qu'Horizon relevait justement de la série. "Je pense que vous commencerez vraiment à comprendre le monde qui se construit et se crée" , nous explique t-elle. "D'un campement de tentes en terre battue, on passera à un village, puis à une ville. Kevin a dit qu'il avait en tête un cinq, un six, un sept, un huit ! Cela pourrait donc durer encore et encore" .

"J'ai besoin de quelqu'un qui veut aller vers l'ouest"

Horizon est-il le Avatar de Kevin Costner et les plaines du far-west son Pandora ? En attendant de se projeter plus loin, la star a profité de son voyage à Cannes pour poursuivre sa recherche de financements. "J'ai fait le tour de tous les yachts du port" , s'amusait-il en conférence de presse. "Je vais les faire quoi qu'il arrive, mais ils ne sont pas encore financés. (...) J'ai besoin de quelqu'un qui soit impulsif, émotif, qui a de l'argent et qui veut aller vers l'ouest" .

Avis aux financiers donc. L'accueil réservé à Horizon à Cannes pourrait les convaincre. Tout comme les larmes sincères de Kevin Costner submergé par l'émotion devant la standing ovation du Grand Théâtre Lumière à l'issue de la projection. Assurément l'un des très beaux moments de ce 77e Festival de Cannes.

"Horizon : une saga américaine Chapitre 1" sortira le 3 juillet en France, "Horizon : une saga américaine Chapitre 2" est attendu le 11 septembre dans nos cinémas.

As you’d expect from a place that immediately conjures up images of glitz and glamour, Cannes spoils its visitors with a dazzling array of nightspots.

During the Cannes Film Festival exclusivity revs up several gears as Hollywood's elite flocks into town. Here’s a guide on where to go to rub shoulders with the rich and the famous, from swish nightclubs to sophisticated cocktail lounges.

On any given night, the crowd at La Baoli on Port Pierre Canto will include the likes of Monegasque royalty, yacht-hopping billionaires and Hollywood A-listers. So when the Cannes Film Festival rolls around each year, there is no hotter place to party than at this in-demand nightclub.

Temple-like doors open onto an Asian-inspired lounge. This begins the night as a place to dine on modern Mediterranean fare and sushi rolls while cocktails and champagne can be enjoyed on rooftop terrace Cloud Nine or on the open-air veranda, with tiki lamps, palm trees and white canopies.

But by midnight, the venue gives way to full-blown festivities. A club of La Baoli’s calibre unsurprisingly attracts a roll call of big name DJs, who get the international jet set up on the dance floor with hip hop and electronic beats. Looking for some exclusivity? Book ahead and bag a spot in the VIP room. 

Ultra-luxe Gotha Club exploded onto the scene in 2011. Capable of hosting up to 2,500 revellers, it’s one of the biggest nightspots on the French Riviera and attracts the brightest stars in town during the fortnight-long film festival as well as throughout its glittering summertime season. 

A private lounge bar and several VIP booths are arranged on different levels around a colossal dance floor while the crowd spills out onto an al fresco terrace. As for the décor, white chandeliers, tufted banquette seating and magnums of champagne scream Cote d’Azur glamour.

Located on Cap de la Croisette, Gotha Club is in a prime position to welcome the world’s elite as well as renowned music acts. Past artists who have performed here include Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and P Diddy and Wiz Khalifa, David Guetta and Lil Wayne are just some of the names that have appeared on the bill.

Le Bar L’Amiral

Sleek and slick, Le Bar L’Amiral ranks among the best piano bars in France . No less could be expected from a watering hole belonging to La Croisette’s swanky five-star Hotel Martinez and the celebrities who come here for a drink during the film festival are sure to agree.

With Art Deco styling, photographs of movie stars lining the walls and bow-tied bar men, the venue oozes old-fashioned glamour. The live piano music playing most nights only enhances the ambience, with singing taking place out on the terrace during the summer months.

Come here to escape the more raucous nightlife of the Riviera and sit back and relax over a martini or whisky, joining a long line of famous faces who have frequented the bar over the decades.   

A late-night piano bar, La Chunga is in the midst of a renaissance. Taken over by new management in 2013, the Cannes institution is currently reliving its glory days of the 60s and 70s from its central spot in the city.

Small, intimate and smothered in sophistication, the venue seduces with its soft lighting and cosy armchairs. An original Mediterranean menu ensures nobody goes hungry here before 11pm, then live entertainment revs up the party atmosphere with festivities in full swing until five in the morning.  

Movie stars from the festival have been known to pack into La Chunga post-midnight, sampling signature whisky sours at the bar, keeping under cover at a dark corner table or throwing shapes on the dance floor.

Despite only launching in 2015, Chrystie has already made a name for itself among the well-heeled. Fusing cutting-edge cuisine, inventive cocktails and an ultra-glam party scene, it’s the ultimate bar-lounge concept for festival-goers looking for an upscale night out which ticks all the boxes.

Bite-sized culinary delights concocted by Lawrence Beaumont are served on huge sharing platters while cutting-edge cocktails are expertly shaken at the central bar. Then, as midnight approaches, the venue transforms into a vibrant showcase of live music and cabaret performances.

Enchanting all who enter is the innovative décor which provides a masterpiece in modern Art Deco style. A bar topped in gleaming black marble sits beneath a cherry blossom light feature, emitting a rosy glow reflected in the artwork and exposed brick walls, and a gold DJ booth peruses the scene.  

Nikki Beach Cannes

Nikki Beach has held court at the Cannes Film Festival since 2003, hosting premiere parties, industry events, charity galas, celebratory lunches and press junkets. Located just steps away from the glittering Boulevard de la Croisette, the pop-up never fails to draw in the major players of Hollywood.

Among the A-listers spotted at Nikki Beach Cannes over the years are Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Chris Pine and Robert de Niro. And when it’s not hosting a celebrity-packed bash, it’s open daily for lunch until late, serving up signature Nikki Beach dishes, cocktails and fresh DJ beats.

The pop-up is also adorned in the beach club brand’s trademark décor. Expect whitewashed wood, natural materials and plush oversized day beds for an ultra-luxe take on barefoot beach chic.
