74m luxury superyacht spotted cruising into Poole Harbour

A SUPERYACHT to rival the condor was spotted stopping off in Poole this weekend.

At 242ft, the luxury vessel made waves as it entered Poole Harbour on Saturday, August 17.

Residents reported seeing some staff accompanying the boat on electric foil boards.

M&EM is a bespoke superyacht built in the Netherlands, passed on to its current owners in 2022.

The limited edition design features customisation to suit the owner's requirements, including increased capacity for a helicopter and a different configuration for her stern area.

Although her interior layout remains unknown, it is confirmed that she includes a dedicated owner's deck with a forward-facing cabin and an on-deck Jacuzzi. Additionally, the main deck aft features a swimming pool.

She delivers impressive ocean-going performance, with a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12.5 knots. Additionally, she complies with IMO's latest Tier III regulations, featuring clean emissions power and propulsion systems.

Poole Harbour becomes superyacht haven

Off charter super yachts with only crew on board are considered commercial vessels and are arriving in Poole. The charter market has dried up and many vessels need somewhere safe to berth until the market returns. The vessels coming in have been at sea for a couple of weeks, only stopping to refuel. 

Currently, Poole is hosting an 83m Super Yacht on Town Quay, with four more vessels due to arrive at the port in the coming weeks.

Poole Harbour Commissioners are maintaining their statutory open port policy by allowing these vessels to arrive at the Port of Poole, and by providing them with lay-by provisions during the Covid-19 crisis.

The health and welfare of their workforce, port visitors and their families is a top priority for PHC, and they continue to work closely with Public Health England (PHE) and Port Health to ensure that they continue to follow the most up-to-date rules and guidance from the UK Government.

“By law, the captain of a visiting ship must submit a Maritime Declaration of Health (MDH) if a crew member, or guest on board is showing any signs of illness,” says  Captain Brian Murphy, Harbour Master, Poole Harbour Commissioners. “Like many other ports across the country during this national pandemic, we are insisting that all vessels submit an MDH for every arrival, including nil returns. Procedures are in place to deal with all scenarios including self-isolation of crew for a minimum of 14 days

“We are adhering to strict rules and guidelines. The MDH ensures that all crew members are fit and healthy before entering the harbour. Once here they will remain on board to protect the local community as well as themselves. They should have plenty of supplies on board, if not they will be provided by their normal specialist suppliers, therefore will have no impact on the availability of goods in the local area.”

Poole Quay Boat Haven 

Poole Quay Boat Haven can accommodate vessels of 85m LOA with a 15.7ft (4.8m) draft.  63amp 3 phase, 63amp single phase and 125amp 3 phase shore power is available.

Port of Poole Marina 

The Port of Poole Marina also accommodates visiting yachts of up to 210m LOA during the summer season (subject to availability), with easy access to the open sea and stunning views over Brownsea Island.

Poole Quay Boat Haven can accommodate vessels of up to 60 metres. We recommend that visitors book in advance in order to guarantee a berth. As well as being perfectly positioned on the quayside with a stunning view of Brownsea Island, the lively cafés, bars and restaurants are close by. The only difficult choice you have to make is where to watch the sun go down! The main summer season at the Boat Haven runs from 1st April until the end of October, and winter berthing packages are available.

The Port of Poole Marina, which opened in June 2011, can berth up to 75 boats on an annual basis, and can accommodate visitors of up to 70 metres in length by prior arrangement.

British Superyacht to speak at the Poole Harbour Superyacht Forum

British Superyacht CEO, Richard Selby has been invited to join the speaker list at the inaugural Poole Harbour Superyacht Forum which is being hosted by Poole Harbour Commissioners who are responsible for the Port of Poole and its harbour.

The forum will also be addressed by the Chief Executive of Poole Harbour Commissioners, Capt Brian Murphy and the keynote speaker Andrea Frabetti, CEO of Sunseeker International, a superyacht builder based in Poole.

At the time of writing, the event was already sold out with over 100 delegates registered. Poole in Dorset is seen as one of the 'superyacht industry hubs' along the south coast of England and is a key contributor to the continued growth of the sector.

Half Day Boat Hire in Poole, Dorset

Starting from Poole Quay Boat Haven. Cruise out through the beautiful Poole Harbour past Sandbanks - the South’s millionaires row. On leaving the harbour we will take an exhilarating cruise passing sandbanks beach then on to Bournemouth pier. We will then head towards old Harry rocks taking in the start of the Jurassic coast finally anchoring up in Studland Bay for a bite of lunch and a quick swim.

Half Day Boat Hire for the Jurassic Coastline.

Cruise out through Poole Harbour then passing Brownsea Island and Sandbanks. We then head on to Old Harry Rocks the start of the world heritage site of the Jurassic coast and then on to Ballard Down. We then head around to Durlston Head to Dancing Ledge via Tilly Whim Caves and Anvil Point lighthouse then onto Chapman’s Pool where we can weigh anchor for a bite of lunch and then a fast cruise back to Poole harbour.

Full Day Boat Hire for the Jurassic Coastline.

As above but continue to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door via Chapmans Pool and Kimmeridge Bay then onto Weymouth the home of the Olympic sailing venue we can then tie up in Weymouth and have lunch ashore in one of the many bars or restaurants or grab fish and chips on-board and take in the sites and sounds of this busy quay then return to Poole.

Full Day Boat Hire for the Isle of Wight.

We start from Poole Quay Boat Haven. Cruise out through the beautiful Poole Harbour past Brownsea Island and Sandbanks the South’s millionaires’ row on leaving the harbour we will take a cruise passing sandbanks beach with its award winning blue flags.

Cruise over to the Isle of Wight, stop off in Yarmouth and have lunch in one of the many bars and restaurants or drop anchor in Alum Bay and lunch on-board.
