Live entertainment, picture perfect location, fantastic service and a quality feed, the Boat Club takes the best elements of the Bayside and mixes them together in one place. The staff make eating so easy. Helpful and friendly plus they accommodate minor changes to the menu. The live entertainment on the weekend draws a crowd, albeit a slightly older one than I'm used to. It is still a fun night out though. This is a favourite coffee spot for my Dad and I. We often go down for a coffee and a cake and sit upstairs in the outdoor seating area. It is so peaceful watching the boats from the marina come in and out on a weekend.

As a member of this club I have never been treated like a no body or as a member went for tea old menu poor lighting bad service if eney lake of saying where to go or how things work as a disabled person it lacks the needs of use over all for a new restaurant experience poor

For a club near Manly, this gets my thumbs up. It's a little daggy yes, but it's in... 1) A fantastic location overlooking the Bay 2) A fantastic location overlooking the Bay 3) A fantastic location overlooking the Bay My friend had her wedding reception here just recently and they have great little function rooms here as well, with outdoor areas for guests to mingle before they are seated. The upstairs bar area is quite hard to get to if you have a pram or wheelchair, but if you don't, it's great. It's indoor/outdoor and overlooks the bay. Who doesn't like having a drink overlooking the sunset over the bay! The prices are very reasonable and the food is very good. What else could you ask for? A great place to take the family, look at some spectacular boats and see the sunset over a beautiful body of water with a drink in your hand.

The five stars are because I've been to the trailer boat club for lots of events and had a great time every time. A netball function and a wedding in the downstairs Stradbroke room, Cup Day luncheon, a la carte dining on the lovely deck for lunch and dinner and most recently a woop up farewell party for good friends leaving the bayside. The food is good, although prices are up since the club's refurbishment a couple of years ago, but not too bad and the staff are still as friendly as they were when it was a little more hokey and less pokie, and cosier, but it's still my favourite club to visit in the bayside.

Once upon a time there was a lovely place overlooking the water where you could purchase a reasonable breakfast on Sundays. Sure, the eggs were often dried up but the rest of the breakfast was enjoyable enough. Not now... All gone! We traveled 60 Klm for breakfast here but they'd stopped it! OK so we (my family and I) settled for breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Then we strolled around the area looking at boats and more boats... we toyed briefly with the idea of lunch on the pier but decided against it due to high wind. We strolled through the Sunday market wasting time until 11:30am. Uh Huh! The club opened for lunch. Far from the delightful pictures on their website and our expectation of lovely fresh food. The food we were served was clearly left over from an earlier cooking. The serious problem with disappointment at a restaurant is that by the time you get up and walk out, you don't feel like trying any other eateries in the area. I am seriously sick and tired of paying restaurants in clubs for warmed over food. Just being cheap is no excuse for re-heating yesterday's roast meat. Why they can't cook it on the day its served instead of serve up something cooked (maybe) days earlier and re-heated is beyond my comprehension. Here's my tip... Never, ever order roast meat from a club. Unless you are prepared to take pot luck it was cooked on the day it is served. Totally destroyed my memories of what was once a reasonable place to have breakfast.

Yes the view is great - but don't bother going there for a meal. It is over priced and the quality is hit and miss. Had a very disappointing meal there last week. Asked for the rice side to be swapped for some salad and they refused. They charged $7 for a salad with the meal and didn't discount for the rice they didn't serve. The chicken was supposed to be served with a tomato salsa - it just some chopped tomato with nothing else added.

Photo of Peter B.

This is a great little club located in a superb location on the waterfront at Manly. The meals are fair value and about what you'd expect in a Member's Club environment. Its not fine dining, nor is it Cafe style. If you're looking for a nice comfortable experience with fair priced meals and booze in a magic location overlooking the bay at Manly then this is the pick. There are other classy restaurants close by at twice the price, but if you are budget conscious and not planning on dropping to your knees to propose then this is your place.

Here Are The New Developments Coming To Manly

The future looks bright for Manly, with four developments currently underway that will help boost tourism in the bayside suburb. Here are the new residential developments as well as long-standing community landmarks with major upgrades underway, set to transform Manly in the near future.

The Manly Hotel

moreton bay trailer yacht club

The Endeavour Group, the company that owns BWS, ALH Hotels, Dan Murphy’s and more, has taken over the hotel in October 2021 and signed a 50-year lease to manage the venue. Endeavour Group revealed its plans to expand its hotel operations following its split from Woolworths.

Established in 1955, The Manly Hotel has changed hands for the first time this year, after the original owners, the McDonald family, announced that they will no longer renew the lease to the hotel.

It will undergo extensive renovations and upgrades, though there is no exact date yet as to when the works would begin. Endeavour Group has big plans for the iconic hotel and sees it as a jewel in their extensive hotel holding.

Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club

moreton bay trailer yacht club

Known as one of the most popular venues in the bayside, Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club is currently in its biggest facelift yet in its 56-year history. Major upgrades include an extension of the clubhouse and adding a deck overlooking the harbour. Award-winning construction team Ashley Cooper Construction was tasked to do the refurbishment for the club.

The revamp was needed to cater for the club’s significant growth and development over the past two years. Now, the club’s membership has reached more than 11,000. As the venue itself expands, the club is also planning to double its staff.

191 Stratton

moreton bay trailer yacht club

DeMartini Fletcher’s residential development at 191 Stratton Tce, Manly is a four-storey residential complex with 42-units and retail space. Amenities include a resort-style pool, BBQ area and wellness gym. A rooftop recreation deck boasting stunning bay views is also available for all residents.

Works have been delayed following issues with some locals, but the developer agreed to tweak certain elements of the designs and lower down the number of units and retail space. The construction of 191 Stratton is now in full swing as construction officially started in July 2021.

The Village Manly

A project of The Village Retirement Group and Anglicare Southern Queensland, The Village Manly is a 100-unit luxury retirement village in two four-storey and two six-storey buildings.

Located next to the Edwin Marsden Tooth Memorial Home (Lota House), The Village Manly will be done in two stages. Stage 1 will be for the 46 apartments (23 apartments for each building) and Stage 2 for the communal facilities for residents.

Brisbane City Council initially rejected the project in late 2019 but the Planning and Environment Court overturned the decision after the developers made a few changes in their proposal and reduced the number of units.

Works on Stage 1 of The Village Manly is set to be complete between September 2022 and March 2023.

New Look For Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club As Major Renovations Finally Begin

After more than two years of planning, the major renovation and expansion of the bar and restaurant facility at the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club in Manly have finally started.

Read: Endeavour Group Takes Over The Manly Hotel

It’s the biggest makeover yet for the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club, which has been around for nearly six decades. The last redevelopment happened in 2005 when the clubhouse was extended and a deck overlooking the harbour was added. The latest plan is a much-needed upgrade as the club’s membership continues to grow, having over 11,000 members to date.

moreton bay trailer yacht club

Construction on the project was delayed after it was originally scheduled to begin in March 2021. In addition to funds coming from MBTBC, the project is being funded by the $1 million grant from State Member for Lytton (ALP) Joan Pease, as part of her commitment to back bayside clubs.

moreton bay trailer yacht club

Award-winning construction team Ashley Cooper Construction was tasked to do the refurbishment for the club. There are big plans for the club once the major renovation is complete, including hiring more workers to double their current staff number.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with such a time-honoured Brisbane venue, in undertaking the most significant refurbishment of the Club in 56 years which includes a complete refurbishment, constructing a spectacular new facade and implementing a significant building extension,” said Ashley Cooper Construction.

The club will remain open throughout the construction, which is estimated to last for 24 weeks. The management also advised visitors regarding the temporary entrance as the club undergoes renovations. You can visit MBTBC’s website for more details and further announcements regarding the construction.

Manly: Visitor’s Guide

Manly: Visitor’s Guide

Many years ago, I wandered into the small harbour-side village of Manly near Brisbane and fell in love. It has just about everything a boatie could desire: numerous boating clubs and marinas, a bustling but laid-back café and shopping precinct, and protected sailing with plenty of places to explore on Moreton Bay.

Today, I call the area home and my early impressions of Manly have been cemented. In fact, one year on from settling here, I realise I have only just scratched the surface.

Manly is only 19km from Brisbane, so it is only a short train or bus ride into the city, if you want to go exploring.

The Village

Manly Village is the hub of the action, with a plethora of cafes, restaurants, a hotel, bakery, chemist, and IGA supermarket. There is even a heated public swimming pool.

The farmer’s markets every second Saturday, and weekly craft markets every Sunday on the esplanade are a major drawcard. But there is a busy list of other kinds of attractions, including outdoor movies.

The Aboriginal Mipirimm people were the original inhabitants of Manly. The European settlement started in the 1860s. The area became a popular seaside location by the early 1900s.

For the boaties, Manly is the place to find a number of boating businesses that can address various needs.

Boaties are well catered for by long-time institution Muir Marine, which carries 10,000 product lines, and anything from a boat hook to a new anchor.

Yacht brokers Mike Davidson and Geoff Marsh, from Oceana Yacht Brokers and The Yacht Brokerage, respectively, are always happy to have a chat about all-things boating. Their window displays are truly the stuff of dreams.

The friendly staff at the Wynnum Manly tourist information centre on the William Gun Jetty near the pool can also answer questions and supply you with an armful of brochures.

manly shopping boat gold coast

Where to stay

Adjacent to the village fronting the Royal Esplanade, you will find more than 1,500 marina berths in four marinas.

Most visitors opt to berth in a marina. There is no close-at-hand all-weather anchorage the locals recommend, apart from Waterloo Bay off Wellington Point just outside the harbour, which is only comfortable in winds under 25 knots.

The Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club (MBTBC) is right across from Manly Village, and next to the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club (WMYC), the East Coast Marina, and the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS). Just around the corner to the north up the Brisbane River is the Rivergate Marina and Shipyard.

The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) welcomes all varieties of boat owners. It is a mecca for competitive sailing, with the social Wednesday Afternoon Go Sailing (WAGS) race on Wednesdays, and the more serious point-score-type racing on Saturdays and Sundays. The Squadron has a very active sail-training program, which has proven successful at the international level. Five of the eleven sailors who represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Olympics hailed from this club.

The Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club (MBTBC) and Wynnum Manly Yacht Club (WMYC) also welcome boaties of every variety, and both have restaurants and bars (although the yacht club’s clubhouse is only open part-time, so check before visiting).

Despite their multi-million-dollar water views, the food and drink prices at the clubs are competitive, with some enticing specials. My favourites include the two-for-one meal option at the Squadron Harbour View Restaurant at RQYS on Thursday nights, and the $12.90 steak lunch at MBTBC, Mondays to Saturdays.

The East Coast Marina is a commercial marina and does not have a clubhouse. It has a café and excellent liveaboard facilities, plus a multi-million-dollar dry-stack development.

The clubs have their own boat ramps, but use of these is normally restricted to members. However, there is an excellent multi-lane public boat ramp on the north side of the MBTBC. If you want to leave your trailerable on the hardstand overnight, you can leave it in the car park here. But if you prefer a secure hardstand, the RQYS has limited hardstand trailerable spaces available for short-term visitors, as does the East Coast Marina.

All marinas have travel-lifts and hardstand areas where you can slip your boat to have work done, with mechanics and shipwrights and other essential trades on tap. The clubs also have visitor’s wharves where you can stop for a quick meal or drink – but make sure to call first. If you need a marina berth, you have to book well in advance because demand for casual berths is high.

manly sailing boat gold coast

Exploring on water

Deciding where to go will be difficult because you are truly spoiled for choice.

On the eastern side of Moreton Bay protecting the bay from the open ocean, you have Moreton Island to the north and North Stradbroke Island to the south. Moreton Island has the famous Tangalooma wrecks, while North Stradbroke has the popular anchorage of Deanbilla Bay, and the Dunwich Little Ship Club.

Offshore from Manly, you will find the islands that locals love for a quick getaway – Green, St Helena and Peel Islands.

Green Island is the closest, so it is the most popular. It has a sandy beach and reasonable anchorage on the western side, so it is protected from easterlies and north-easterlies. It is a great spot to escape the madding crowds, and enjoy a sundowner looking back on the city lights.

St Helena, to the north of Green Island, boasts the ruins of a historic convict settlement. A commercial company conducts guided tours on Wednesdays and Sundays, and you can join for just $30 if you are visiting in your own boat. You will feel like you have met the convicts who were incarcerated here by the end of the tour because all the guides dress in character and play their parts with glee. The main anchorage at St Helena Island is next to the jetty at the southwestern corner of the island, so it is protected from easterlies. The toilet block is only open when tours are on.

Peel Island is a short motor to the south of Green Island, towards Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island. Peel was a leper colony and some ruins remain today (although long-time locals tell me there is no public access because they contain asbestos). The main anchorage is Horseshoe Bay on the southern side, so it is protected from north-westerlies. Peel Island boasts a lovely sandy beach and has a national parks pit toilet. If the wind turns, Lazarette Gutter on the north side of the island is comfortable in southeasterly through southwesterly winds. Take care navigating around the island because of numerous coral outcrops, and a wreck off the south side.

While you are at Peel Island, nip across to the Little Ship Club, located on the waterfront of the One Mile anchorage in Dunwich on North Stradbroke. You can pull up to the sandy beach or the back of their jetty. This Club really pumps on the weekend, but with a laid-back kind of island vibe you will find hard to tear yourself away from.

Both the RQYS and MBTBC have moorings at some of the islands in the bay, but these are normally restricted to members.

And last, but by no means least, the Brisbane River just north of Manly makes a great day trip when it is windy out in the bay. You can find limited anchoring room upriver, or leave your boat at the Rivergate Marina and Shipyard not far from the river’s mouth, and catch a ferry to get around. Mud Island just outside (north of St Helena Island) has a reasonable anchorage on the northwest side, protected from south-easterlies.

Safety-wise, there are a few things to be aware of. While Moreton Bay is protected, it is quite shallow. A sharp chop up to two metres can develop when the wind picks up, so it is wise to avoid strong winds against the tide. Also note that the Port of Brisbane to the north of Manly is a major port, with very busy shipping traffic. It is advised to stay out of the shipping channels as much as you can and keep a keen eye out. Needless to say, you should always remember to log on with the Coast Guard before heading out.

Exploring Manly is a great adventure for any boatie (and non-boatie too!). A visit here will leave you with many exciting stories and experiences – from the cityscape views to the laid-back island adventures.

History of Tyumen

Foundation of tyumen.

In the 13th-16th centuries, on the banks of the Tyumenka River, there was the capital of the Tyumen Khanate - Chingi-Tura. The construction of the Russian fortified settlement of Tyumen began near the remains of Chingi-Tura in the summer of 1586, during the conquest of Siberia by the Russians.

In the Russian chronicles of the 16th century, the Tyumen Khanate was called “Great Tyumen”. “Tumen” (“tyumyan”) in Turkic languages means “lower reaches of the river”, “lowland”. The same word also means a military unit 10 thousand people strong.

Tyumen was founded as an outpost for the conquest and development of Siberia and the Far East on the old caravan road from Central Asia to the Volga region. Waterways connected Tyumen with the lands of the Far North and East. The original population of Tyumen, as a frontier town, consisted of boyars (Russian nobility), streltsy (Russian firearm infantry), and Cossacks. In 1616, the Trinity Monastery was founded in Tyumen by the monk Nifont.

In the first years after its foundation, Tyumen was subjected to attacks by Tatars and Kalmyks. Over time, with the disappearance of the military threat, crafts became the primary occupation of the townspeople (blacksmithing, bell-making, soap-making, and tanning).

More Historical Facts…

Tyumen in the 17th-19th centuries

One century after its foundation, about 2 thousand people lived in Tyumen. In 1695, a fire broke out, as a result of which the wooden town burned down. After that, stone construction began in Tyumen. Of the stone structures of that time, the complex of buildings of the Trinity Monastery has been preserved.

At the beginning of the 18th century, Tyumen was a major transit point for trade; trade routes from China and all of Siberia to the center of Russia passed through the town. Tyumen was famous for the production of furniture and other wood products. In 1763, 6,593 people lived here, of whom 317 were artisans.

In the 19th century, simultaneously with the decline of Tobolsk, rapid growth began in Tyumen. In 1836, the first steamer in Siberia was launched in Tyumen. It became one of the largest river shipbuilding bases in the Russian Empire. In 1885, the Yekaterinburg-Tyumen railway was put into operation. At the end of the century, the cargo turnover of the Tyumen port reached 230 thousand tons per year, and the port itself was called “the gateway to Siberia”.

By the beginning of the 20th century, the number of residents of Tyumen reached 30 thousand and exceeded the population of Tobolsk. In Tyumen, there were 117 factories, including 3 shipyards, 2 steam mills, 70 tanneries, and other enterprises. In 1913, the Tyumen-Omsk railway connected the city with the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Tyumen in the 20th century and beyond

From 1923 to 1934, Tyumen was the center of the Tyumen District within Ural Oblast. On January 17, 1934, this huge region was divided into three oblasts - Sverdlovsk Oblast with the center in Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg), Chelyabinsk Oblast with the center in Chelyabinsk, and Ob-Irtysh Oblast with the center in Tyumen. From December 7, 1935 to August 14, 1944, Tyumen was part of Omsk Oblast. In 1939, the population of Tyumen was 79,205 people.

During the Second World War, the industrial potential of Tyumen increased significantly due to the enterprises evacuated from the European part of the USSR. In total, 22 evacuated enterprises were operating in the city, producing armored boats, mortars, motorcycles, electrical equipment for tanks, shells, mines, short fur coats, felt boots, and food. About 20 thousand residents of Tyumen fought at the front.

On August 14, 1944, Tyumen Oblast was formed - the largest region in the country in terms of area. The distance from the southernmost point of the region to the northernmost point was 2,100 km, and from west to east - 1,400 km. Tyumen became the administrative center of this new region.

In the 1960s, large deposits of oil and natural gas were discovered in the north of the Tyumen region, which became a new page in the history of Tyumen. In 1966, the construction of the Tyumen - Tobolsk - Surgut - Nizhnevartovsk railway began. A lot of enterprises of the city began to work for the oil and natural gas extraction industry.

Tyumen became the starting point and transshipment point for the delivery of goods to the North. New specialized enterprises, design institutes, and higher educational institutions were opened in the city. From 1959 to 1979, the population of Tyumen doubled - from 150 to 359 thousand people.

Tyumen Oblast became the country’s main oil and natural gas energy base. By the end of the 1980s, about 400 million tons of oil and 574 billion cubic meters of natural gas were annually produced here. In 1989, the population of Tyumen was 476,869 people.

In the 2010s, Tyumen was significantly transformed: new micro-districts, roads, bridges were built, streets were expanded. In 2015, the 700 thousandth inhabitant of the city was born. In 2020, the population of Tyumen exceeded 800 thousand people. In today’s Russia Tyumen is one of the fastest growing cities.

Tyumen - Features

Tyumen is located in the south of Western Siberia, in the Asian part of Russia, on both banks of the Tura, the left tributary of the Tobol River. Tyumen is a large industrial city, the oil and natural gas capital of Russia, as the administrative center of the largest oil and natural gas producing region. The City Day of Tyumen is celebrated on the last Saturday of July.

The climate in Tyumen is transitional from moderately continental to sharply continental. The average temperature in January is minus 15 degrees Celsius, in July - plus 18.8 degrees Celsius. The warm period lasts only 3-4 months here. The longest seasons are autumn and spring. The weather in the city can change quickly, in the morning it is sunny and warm, and in the evening it is snowy and frosty.

Today’s coat of arms of Tyumen is generally very similar to the historical coat of arms approved in 1785. The image of a wooden river boat, according to the historical description, means that “from this town begins sailing along the rivers of all Siberia.”

The Trans-Siberian Railway “Moscow - Vladivostok” passes through Tyumen. At present, it is the only transcontinental railway that completely passes through the territory of Russia. It is adjoined by the Tyumen - Novy Urengoy railway line, which serves the transportation of the northern regions. The main feature of the Tyumen transport hub is that it is the only point of connection to the all-Russian transport network of the main transport communications of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The main air gateway to Tyumen is the international airport “Roshchino” named after D. I. Mendeleev. Located about 13 km west of Tyumen, this airport offers regular flights to such cities as Kaliningrad, Krasnodar, Moscow, Nizhnevartovsk, Novy Urengoy, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Salekhard, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Surgut, Ufa, Khanty-Mansiysk, and a number of others.

Oil and natural gas of the Tyumen region contributed to the rapid growth of scientific organizations in the city. In total, several dozen research and design institutes are located here. Fundamental science is represented by the Institute of the Earth’s Cryosphere and the Institute for the Problems of the Development of the North. Applied science is focused on the needs of the oil and natural gas industry. Thousands of students study in 15 higher education institutions.

The beautiful wooden architecture of Tyumen should be noted separately. The unique carved decoration of the Tyumen buildings of the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries uses the traditions of Russian decorative art, folk motives, as well as creatively reworked artistic techniques of the Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, and partly Art Nouveau. Often, styles are combined, complemented by local motifs, forming a unique look of wooden architecture, characteristic only of Tyumen.

There are 17 federal cultural heritage sites in Tyumen. Among the specially protected natural areas in the city are the Botanical collection of the biological faculty of Tyumen State University (3 hectares), as well as the regional natural monuments Forest Park named after Yu.A. Gagarin (105 hectares) and the Zatyumensky Forest Park (77 hectares). In the vicinity of Tyumen there are about five hot (37-50 degrees Celsius) geothermal springs.

Interesting facts from the history of Tyumen during World War II

During the war, the body of V. I. Lenin was evacuated from Moscow to Tyumen; the functions of the mausoleum were temporarily performed by the building of the current Tyumen State Agricultural Academy.

In 1942, a single copy of a winged tank was built in Tyumen. Developed by aircraft designer Antonov from 1941 to 1943, it was a T-60 tank loaded on a glider (“Wings of a Tank”).

In February 1944, for two weeks, the Tyumen militia were catching cats in the city to send them to the Hermitage (Leningrad), where during the blockade numerous rodents bred, posing a threat to works of art. 238 cats were sent to the northern capital of Russia and gave rise to a new population of Leningrad cats.

Main Attractions of Tyumen

Embankment of the Tura River - one of the main walking areas of Tyumen. It is especially pleasant to walk here in the summer heat. The length of the embankment is 4 km. It runs along the right bank of the Tura River in the central part of the city. The four levels of the embankment have a total height of 24 meters. City holidays, festivals, concerts, etc. are held here.

At night, the Tyumen embankment looks especially beautiful, thanks to the illumination of the Lovers’ Bridge (a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge, where newlyweds come after the solemn registration of marriage). There are cafes and restaurants within walking distance from the embankment. The Tura River is navigable, so you can look at the Tyumen embankment from the water during a boat trip.

Tsvetnoy Boulevard - a pedestrian street 800 meters long, passing through the center of Tyumen between Ordzhonikidze and Pervomayskaya streets. It is a very popular place for recreation and walking among locals and tourists. In summer, city celebrations, concerts, and festivals take place here, in winter they organize an ice town with slides, ice sculptures, and bright lighting. Along the street there are cafes, shopping centers, a movie theater, a sports complex, and a circus. On one of the squares there is the fountain “Four Seasons” with a picturesque stained glass dome.

There are a lot of sculptures on the boulevard, the characters most beloved by the locals - clowns Nikulin, Karandash, and Oleg Popov - can be found near the Tyumen circus. The name “Tsvetnoy” was coined by analogy with Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow, because a circus is also located on it. In the amusement park, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Tyumen from the Ferris wheel.

Siberian Cats Square - a unique place of its kind, often included in the lists of the most original sights of Tyumen. In 2008, on this then unnamed alley, 12 cast-iron gilded figures of cats were installed, sitting in different poses on stone pedestals.

This was done in memory of the fact that during the Second World War, after the blockade of Leningrad was broken, about 5 thousand cats were sent to the city from different places of the country to catch numerous rats. By that time, there were no cats in Leningrad, they were all eaten. 238 cats were taken from Tyumen to the northern capital specifically to protect the priceless storage facilities of the Hermitage and other Leningrad palaces and museums. Pervomayskaya Street, 11.

Tyumen Regional Museum of Fine Arts - one of the best art museums beyond the Urals. The exposition includes a unique collection of Russian portrait painting of the 18th - early 20th centuries, paintings created by Western European artists of the 17th-19th centuries, as well as art works by Soviet and contemporary artists and sculptors. Decorative and applied art is represented by porcelain from the Imperial Factory, a collection of Tobolsk carved bones, clay toys, and much more. Sovetskaya Street, 63.

Museum of Local Lore “The City Duma” - a museum located in the very center of the city, not far from the embankment and the Lovers’ Bridge, in a building that is an architectural monument (the first civil stone building in Tyumen, built in 1828-1834). Previously, the City Duma and the Tyumen archive were located here. Today, here you can see ethnographic, archaeological, natural science collections, as well as objects of handicrafts and decorative and applied arts. Lenina Street, 2.

Holy Trinity Monastery - a majestic religious monument with gilded domes and laconic white facades located on the bank of the Tura River, an architectural monument of federal significance. This is one of the oldest monasteries in Siberia, founded in 1616.

Today, it is one of the most famous and popular architectural religious complexes throughout Siberia. It is advisable for tourists to dress according to the weather, comfortable and not provocative, in accordance with the rules of the Russian Orthodox Church (women must have a skirt, as well as a scarf covering their heads). Kommunisticheskaya Street, 10.

Church of the Exaltation of the Cross (1774-1791) - one of the most famous architectural landmarks of Tyumen, built in the Baroque style. Lunacharsky Street, 1.

Church of the Savior (1796-1819) - one of the oldest and most expressive churches in Tyumen, an architectural monument of federal significance. This building combines in its architecture the Siberian Baroque of the late 18th century and the Russian style of the early 20th century. Chelyuskintsev Street, 44.

Znamensky Cathedral (1786-1801) - the main church in Tyumen built in the Siberian Baroque style. This majestic, snow-white building with an abundance of blue and gilded details looks incredibly sophisticated. Semakova Street, 13.

Gilevskaya Grove - a picturesque forest park with almost 80 hectares of dense forest, a river, and a lake, one of the most favorite places for recreation and walks in Tyumen. On the territory there are scooter and bicycle rental, asphalt paths for jogging and cycling, gazebos for picnic and barbecue, etc. Gilevskaya Roshcha, 1

Hot springs “Verkhniy Bor” - a recreation center located about 15 km from Tyumen. Here you can swim in pools both in summer and in winter, when it is minus 30 degrees Celsius outside. The water temperature reaches plus 40 degrees Celsius. Bathing in healing hot waters has a positive effect on human health. A visit to “Verkhny Bor” is recommended for people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

Monument to Grigory Rasputin - an art object located in the heart of Tyumen, in Aptekarskiy Garden, near the city Perinatal Center. Grigory Rasputin (1869-1916) is a highly controversial personality in Russian history known for his friendship with the family of the last Russian emperor Nicholas II. They believed that he had the talents of perspicacity and healing. This gave Rasputin the opportunity to exert a great influence on the administration of the Russian Empire in the last years of its existence.

This monument was erected here for a reason. In the summer of 1914, Rasputin was taken to a hospital located near the garden with a knife wound to the abdominal cavity. He was brought from afar, from his native village of Pokrovskoye. Later, for some time, Rasputin worked here as a medical orderly.

The sculpture is a full-length image of Rasputin - a tall man with a thick beard. He is dressed in the so-called “Siberian coat” - a traditional Russian caftan. The left hand rests on a Viennese chair - an exact copy of the original chair from the Rasputin Museum located in the village of Pokrovskoye. There are city legends about this monument. It is said that men, by sitting down on this chair, can be cured of their illnesses, as well as get a career progression. Daudel’naya Street, 7.

Grigory Rasputin Museum . This museum is located in the village of Pokrovskoye (Sovetskaya Street, 79), about 80 km from Tyumen, if you drive in the direction of Tobolsk. A lot of secrets, mysteries, and hoaxes are associated with the name of Rasputin. Therefore, visiting this museum will be interesting for those who are interested in Russian history.

The museum was created thanks to the enthusiasm of fellow villagers of Rasputin in 1990. They collected things and documents related to his personality and family. It was the first private museum in the USSR. The building of the museum is not much different from the rest of the village houses on this street, but this is not the original house in which the Rasputin family lived, but a reconstructed one. The original one was demolished in 1980. Every Saturday and Sunday, at 11:00 am, a two-hour excursion is held.
