Turkey Marina costs - a simple price list for my boat

Vics recent thread about port fees in Greece has prompted me to start putting together a simple list of marina costs for Turkey, Cyprus and Greece. This was in order to weigh up our winter berthing options and I thought it might be of interest to others. We recently completed the EMYR and in doing so called into quite a few of the Turkish Aegean coast marinas and also Karpaz Gate in N.Cyprus collecting 13m in-the-water berthing quotes as we went along. As we left from Leros Ive also included their price. It shows an interesting range of prices with the brand new marina at Oren being the most expensive. (We had the distinction of being the first boat to "officially" berth in Oren Marina but at those prices I suspect we wont be going back. Kumkuyu, our last Turkish marina didnt make our shortlist. Its probably very cheap but ..... Marina 12 months Didim € 5,678.00 Oren € 5,678.00 Kas € 4,383.00 Finike € 2,074.00 (240 days) Kemer € 3,332.00 Karpaz Gate (N.Cyprus) € 1,755.00 * Agmar (Leros, Greece) € 2,950.00 ** I also have some quotes for just overwinter but Ive put up just the annual contract costs as they are all pretty much pro-rata. Karpaz Gate is our favourite and a great price but at the corner of N.Cyprus its in the wrong location for us this year. All prices in Euros Prices are for a 13.1m x 4.1m yacht * 3 month frozen contract. Can leave for up to 3 months eg summer cruise and time will be added onto end of contract ** Storage on land with 2 lift in/out and pressure wash. 30 Days at Lakki marina

You don't mention whether your preference is to winter aboard, Affinite. But if it is, I can tell you that Kas marina is a graveyard whilst Finike is excellent. There's clearly more to this than price.

Not sure if it helps, but for us at Marmaris Yacht Marina our 12.2 Meters with the CA discount of 5% for a 6 month contract is EUR 1609 all up (including tax). There are a few of us wintering over here this year, but not as many as in years past apparently. Cheers, PT

Really useful information. But I am surprised by your figure for Oren. I berthed there for the whole of July 2018 and although I didn't keep a record, remember thinking that the monthly rate was so low that it would be well worth moving from Greece. The Oren marina was new and good, with most services available on site. But it is situated in a rather remote village. Turkey's strict pump-out rules made being a liveaboard awkward, as the marina did not have a pump-out facility. However there was an almost direct bus service to the international Millas-Mugla airport, very convenient for a home visit. P.S. Thank you, Affinite below, for pointing out that this is a zombie thread of his, and no longer so useful.

Boat: 2018 Robertson and Caine, Leopard 40	your in ? Think again! As someone who's sailed over 22,000 nautical miles across 35 countries, let me tell you, times have changed. Although was once a go-to spot for sailors, the cost of has skyrocketed, causing even Turkish sailors to elsewhere. In winter 2023 I stayed at Didim Marina, which was one of the only options with semi-affordable prices, but even that was a mistake. While the cost of living may be cheaper in Turkey, anything related to the industry will cost you a fortune. In Didim, I paid a whopping 6,000 for 6 months in winter 2022 for my 40-foot , and the following year, they quoted me a staggering 8,000! In comparison, I only paid 2,200 in in 2021 and will be paying 2,500 in in 2023, in the . And don't even get me started on the quality of labor at the shipyard - I had to redo every job done by one of their provider, who come highly recommended, called Modern . Even a simple job as antifouling painting wasn't done right! And cost an arm and a leg. For example, even a basic bottle of 80W90 GL5 from an unknown Turkish brand costed me 130 for just 5 liters, while branded of the same quantity costs a mere 35 in , just 23 nautical miles away! In short, save yourself the trouble and expense by avoiding Turkey. Trust me, there are better places to spend your winter, and Didim isn't much to write home about anyway. Don't get me wrong, Turkey is a beautiful country. And people are amazingly generous. Turkey is a land of wonder and magic. We covered by car more than 1,500 miles of magnificent landscapes and dazzling vistas. From the shores of the touristy coast, to the heart of Anatolia, a fascinating region located in the central part of Turkey. A vast plateau that boasts a stunning landscape of rolling hills, mountains, and vast plains. From the "Turkish Riviera" to the soaring heights of hot air balloons over Capadochia, we conquered it all! But leaving your boat in Turkey for the winter economically doesn't make sense anymore. Pity, because the country is beautiful and people are amazing.

We met a guy with a 55 ft. cat, who was charged $1500 per in , Australia--ten to 15 yrs. ago. 	a lot of the cost benefit for travelers over the last year. Our costs in USD were easily up 50%. Still reasonable but no longer . I'm sure a lot of it is folks just desperately trying to adapt while putting on the table. Hopefully, with elections coming up, they can return to a sane economic policy and things can sort themselves out but it's likely a year or two for that to mostly settle out.

. We spent 9 years doing just that. It is not unusual for winter storms to damage boats kept in marinas, but we never had a scratch.

It is an option worth considering for the many advantages, not just because it is less expensive.

I even weathered TS Gonzalo in the a few years back, and lived to tell the tale. So I completely agree with you that with the right preparation and gear, you can tackle the nastiest of winter storms.

Marinas are dangerous, and I avoid them like the plague.

I met other sailors like you who spent the winter at anchor in the Med. Is it doable? Absolutely. Is it enjoyable? Well, that depends on your definition of fun!

I have to admit, the coldest winter of my life was spent in the water in a marina in Sicily. Brrrr! No way am I doing that again. But hats off to you, matey!

You've got all my admiration for braving the winter at anchor. Hope we can meet somewhere in so that I can hear your wintering stories in front of a couple of cold beers!

If you just want to get a general idea about the marina prices in Turkey:

For a 45 feet ( 13 metres) sailing yacht the price is around 7000 Euros per year. For a 2 months period it will be around 2500 Euros. If you choose annual mooring nearly all marinas apply some campaigns like 1 month free or maybe other free services.

In Turkey you cannot buy a berth you can just rent it from the marina. In some countries like Crotia you can buy and even rent it.

The biggest marina chains in Turkey is Setur Marinas and D-Marin. Also Camper and Nicholson marina exits in Izmir. Generally marinas are full in summer season but you can find some docking and mooring areas without giving basic services like electricity and water, around the Eagean Sea. Also they don2t offer security. Foreign flags cannot moor in fisher’s marinas which offer better prices. They are only for Turkish Flag yachts but most of them don’t give security services.

Two concrete-block breakwaters enclose a total area of nearly one hectare providing easily accessible berthing of yachts up to 40 meters L.O.A. The marina features a floating concrete docking system where yachts are tied stern to. Berths are spacious enough to allow berth holders to sail their boats whenever they wish. The piers are made of Swedish patented floating concrete pontoons, firmly anchored to concrete blocks for safe mooring. The marina provides all-weather protection for over 750 yachts.

Netsel Marina is one of the best serving marinas in whole Mediterranean coats. There is a fuel bunkering station on the outer quay and also in addition to a 20 ton slip hoist, there is a 120 ton travel lift for larger and heavier boats. All forms of maintenance, painting, engine, power and electronics can be found in the marina. Netsel Marina is also very popular with its huge shopping centre. You may see yacht equipment shops, brand clothing shops, markets, souvenir shops, luxury restaurants and bars in the area.

Albatros Marina

Albatros Marina is located on the east of the cove along the way to the Yalanci Strait and after passing the Gunluk Park. Marina mostly serves for the charter firms and has small capacity of 60 boats.

Marina has a careenage capacity of 240 yachts & boats on land. Facilities are; restaurant & bar and a small market.
