9. Choosing provisions for your charter, including food and beverages

As part of your Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) package, the dedicated chef and crew on board will cater to all your culinary needs. From delightful alfresco dinners and delectable desserts to refreshing tropical cocktails, your chef will customize each day’s menu to suit your specific tastes and dietary restrictions.

Whether you desire an elegant five-course meal or a charming beach picnic during sunset, your chef and crew are committed to crafting a memorable gastronomic journey for you. Should you prefer dining ashore, your charter broker stands ready to recommend and make reservations at top-tier restaurants throughout your charter.

Before embarking on your charter, you can furnish us with a list of preferred food and beverages, enabling your crew to stock up on your favorite drinks and dishes to have readily available during your voyage. This list should also encompass any dietary needs or allergies to facilitate necessary accommodations by your chef.

10. Observing etiquette norms during a charter

Whether embarking on your maiden voyage or as a seasoned charter guest, there exist unspoken guidelines and anticipated behaviors when engaging a yacht charter, encompassing interactions with the Captain and crew, as well as conduct while aboard the vessel.

• Footwear: Typically, shoes designed for onshore use should not be worn on the yacht. Guests can choose to wear soft deck shoes or go barefoot according to personal preference, reserving their regular footwear for excursions off the boat to explore the surrounding coastlines. • Luggage: It is advisable, whenever possible, to pack belongings in soft luggage bags as these are easier for the crew to manage and stow without occupying excessive space. On certain yachts, storage areas might be restricted, making flexible soft bags a more practical choice over large, rigid suitcases.

• Smoking: As a safety precaution, smoking is generally prohibited inside yachts during charters. However, many vessels permit smoking on deck. To avoid any misunderstandings, it is advisable to confirm the smoking policies with your broker in advance of the charter.

• Gratuity: While customary, determining the crew’s gratuity is at your discretion. A typical suggestion is to tip approximately 10-20% of the charter fee, to be divided evenly among the Captain and crew. However, it is important to note that the anticipated gratuity amount could vary depending on the charter location. Ultimately, the decision on how much gratuity to leave the crew hinges on your personal judgment and overall satisfaction with the experience.

11. Overview of the yacht chartering process

After initiating your inquiry and contacting us to discuss your preferences and requirements, the chartering process gains momentum. We will search our database for yachts that align with your needs and are available for your desired charter dates. You then choose which yacht you wish to charter.

Upon your selection, we will communicate with the yacht owner regarding availability, pricing, and the terms and conditions of the charter. Once both parties agree on all aspects, including the final price, a contract will be issued for your signature, confirming the reservation of the yacht for your vacation. Typically, a 50% deposit of the charter fee is required via wire transfer or credit card upon signing the Charter Agreement. The remaining 50%, along with the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), any applicable taxes, delivery fees, and security deposit, are usually due one month before the charter commences.

Following the completion of contracts and payment of deposits, we will manage concierge arrangements such as creating a detailed itinerary and addressing your food and beverage preferences. Subsequently, you prepare for your trip and eagerly anticipate boarding the yacht to meet your Captain and crew.

For a seamless luxury experience, we can arrange private travel to and from the yacht. Private aviation offers enhanced comfort, privacy, and time efficiency, bypassing the usual hassles associated with commercial airlines. We can provide a private aviation charter service, assisting you in securing a private jet charter for your travel needs as well as a private luxury transfer from and to the airport. Porto Cervo – Giornata conclusiva eccellente per la 34^ Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup e il primo Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship, manifestazione organizzata dallo YCCS con il supporto del Title sponsor Rolex – con il quale ricorrono quest’anno i 40 anni di partnership – e la collaborazione dell’International Maxi Association (IMA). Grazie a un vento di Maestrale tra i 16 e i 24 nodi che ha permesso alla flotta di svolgere una regata costiera in condizioni perfette, quelle per le quali il campo di regata di Porto Cervo è riconosciuto a livello internazionale. Presenti allo YCCS anche Quanhai Li, presidente di World Sailing, la Federazione mondiale della vela, e Francesco Ettorre, presidente della FIV, la Federazione Italiana Vela.

Il primo Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship è stato vinto da Leopard 3 di Joost Schuijff con Ed Baird – vincitore della 32^ America’s Cup come timoniere di Alinghi – nel ruolo di tattico.

Gli altri vincitori di categoria della 34^ Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup sono stati: Proteus di George Sakellaris in Maxi 2, il J Class Svea tra i Supermaxi, Oscar 3 di Aldo Parisotto in Maxi 3, H2O di Riccardo de Michele in Maxi 4 e Gaetana di Riccardo Pavoncelli nella classe Multiscafi.

Per sfruttare al meglio la giornata il Comitato di Regata ha anticipato alle ore 10.00 CEST la partenza, avvenuta puntualmente come da programma con circa 16-18 nodi di Maestrale. Per le classi Maxi 1 e 2 è stato scelto un percorso di circa 43 miglia che ha portato le due flotte dapprima a sud, per girare le isole di Mortorio e Soffi, da qui risalire di bolina ed entrare nel canale di La Maddalena attraverso il Passo delle Bisce, circumnavigare La Maddalena e Caprera in senso orario e rientrare al lasco a Porto Cervo dopo aver lasciato a dritta l’Isola dei Monaci e a sinistra la Secca di Tre Monti.

Tutte le altre classi sono state impegnate in un percorso di circa 31 miglia: dopo aver lasciato a sinistra l’isola dei Monaci, le barche si sono dirette con una velocissima bolina larga verso la Secca di Tre Monti e da qui hanno circumnavigato in senso orario le isole di La Maddalena e Caprera per rientrare al lasco a Porto Cervo. 

Il vincitore del campionato mondiale, il 100 piedi Leopard 3, si è imposto grazie alla vittoria nella prova odierna dopo i due quarti posti nelle prove a bastone, con totale complessivo di 9 punti. Completano il podio Django HF con 12 e il WallyCento V con 14 punti. A dimostrazione della grande competitività nella classe Maxi 1, anche Deep Blue e Bullitt chiudono la serie con 14 punti, ma con risultati parziali inferiori.

Situazione analoga tra i Maxi 2 e i Supermaxi: nella prima Proteus ha chiuso a pari punti (8) con il secondo classificato, Jolt. A fare la differenza è stata la proprio la vittoria odierna di Proteus. Terzo posto per Northstar of London. Tra i Supermaxi il J Class Svea, vincendo la prova conclusiva di oggi, si è imposto su Moat, vincitore della prima regata costiera. Terzo posto per l’altro J Class, Velsheda.

Tra i Maxi 3 netta affermazione di Oscar 3 di Aldo Parisotto, seguito da Spirit of Lorina, vincitore di giornata, e Grande Orazio, rispettivamente secondo e terzo ma a pari punti. Allo stesso modo in classe Maxi 4, dietro al vincitore H2O si trovano a pari punti il secondo, Wallyño e il terzo, Shirlaf.

Il 66 piedi Gaetana si è imposto con due primi tra i Multiscafi, lasciando ad Allegra il secondo posto e ad Highland Fling XVIII il terzo.

Sono stati particolarmente spettacolari a vedersi i duelli diretti lungo tutto il percorso tra barche con prestazioni simili, come i quattro Maxi 2, i multiscafi Allegra e Highland Fling XVIII, i J Class Svea e Velsheda, i 100 piedi Galateia e SHK Scallywag, Oscar 3 e Grande Orazio in classe Maxi 3 e, tra i 60, piedi Wallyño, del presidente IMA Benoît de Froidmont, e Manticore.

Oggi hanno regatato a bordo di tre maxi di altrettanti soci dello YCCS i tre giovani atleti del programma sportivo Young Azzurra: Maddalena Spanu (campionessa mondiale in carica di Wingfoil, Federico Pilloni (campione mondiale giovanile di iQFOiL) e Cesare Barabino, atleta ILCA 7. Per tutti è stata un’esperienza nuova e formativa.

Andrea Recordati, Commodoro dello YCCS, ha dichiarato: “Questa 34^ edizione della Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup è stata sicuramente complessa per via delle condizioni meteo che non ci hanno consentito di regatare quanto avremmo desiderato, ma va riconosciuto al Comitato di Regata e a tutta l’organizzazione dello Yacht Club Costa Smeralda di aver fatto del loro meglio. Però credo che la giornata odierna, in condizioni tipiche della Costa Smeralda con vento sostenuto e costante su un percorso costiero che ci ha visto navigare nello scenario unico dell’Arcipelago di La Maddalena, abbia dato grandi soddisfazioni e sia stata per tutti una bella regata. Congratulazioni ai vincitori delle rispettive classi e un ringraziamento a nome dello YCCS a tutti i partecipanti dell’evento che hanno contribuito a renderlo, come sempre, unico. Ancora, ringrazio per il fondamentale supporto e per la sua presenza a Porto Cervo il presidente di World Sailing, Quanhai Li, oltre al nostro partner Rolex, con il quale celebriamo i quarant’anni di partnership”.

La cerimonia di premiazione in piazza Azzurra, come di consueto sempre molto partecipata, ha visto l’assegnazione dei segnatempo Rolex agli armatori degli yacht primi classificati oltre ai due trofei perpetui in memoria del Commodoro Alberini, assegnato ad Adrian Keller di Allegra e il Paolo Massarini ORC Challenge Trophy, riservato al Supermaxi vincitore di classe, Svea. Riccardo de Michele, armatore di H2O, è stato anche premiato in quanto socio YCCS con la migliore posizione in classifica.

Nel corso della 34^ Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup sono state utilizzate per le partenze e le prove a bastone le boe elettriche collegate a un GPS che non necessitano di venire ancorate, preservando così l’integrità del fondale marino.

Lo YCCS sarà impegnato già da lunedì prossimo, 16 settembre, con la 22^ Rolex Swan Cup.

Prendono il via domani le regate della Rolex Swan Cup, evento biennale giunto alla 22/a edizione, organizzato dallo Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.     Sono 101 le barche del cantiere finlandese registrate per questa edizione. La Rolex Swan Cup è una regata dalla doppia anima, quella racing, con la gamma ClubSwan One Design e quella più orientata alle lunghe navigazioni, con i modelli heritage fino ai più moderni blue water cruiser e maxi.     Si va dal 36 piedi tedesco Isabella al 65 piedi olandese King's Legend, che giunse secondo alla Whitbread Round the World Race del 1977-78, al moderno Swan 98 Drifter Cube di 30 metri, lo yacht più grande presente a Porto Cervo. Altrettanto differenti sono gli approcci alla Rolex Swan Cup da parte degli armatori: sulle banchine di Porto Cervo si incrociano tra loro gli equipaggi familiari o di amici con i grandi nomi internazionali della vela, da Vasco Vascotto a Paul Cayard, per citarne solo due. Se gli equipaggi arrivano a Porto Cervo da tutto il mondo, la maggior parte delle barche proviene dall'Europa, ma va sottolineata la presenza di concorrenti asiatici, americani, australiani e anche dal continente africano: due armatori giapponesi (ClubSwan 28 Swing e Swan 68 Defiance), due dall'Australia (S&S 65 Eve e Swan 53 Bedouin), uno dagli USA (ClubSwan 28 Play Bigger), uno dall'Argentina (Swan 45 mod. From Now On), uno dall'India (Swan 58 Aquarius) cui si aggiunge l'armatrice egiziana del ClubSwan 36 Lady Ghada.

Maxi yacht rolex cup: trionfo di leopard 3 nel primo maxi 1 world championship.

Vento tra i 16 e i 24 nodi, sole e tanto entusiasmo. La trentaquattresima Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup e il primo Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship , manifestazione organizzata dallo Yacht Club Costa Smeralda con il supporto del Title sponsor Rolex – con il quale ricorrono quest’anno i 40 anni di partnership – si è conclusa con successo nelle acque di Porto Cervo. Il primo Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship è stato vinto da Leopard 3 di Joost Schuijff con Ed Baird – vincitore della trentaduesima America’s Cup come timoniere di Alinghi – nel ruolo di tattico. Gli altri vincitori di categoria della 34ª Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup sono stati: Proteus di George Sakellaris in Maxi 2, il J Class Svea tra i Supermaxi, Oscar 3 di Aldo Parisotto in Maxi 3, H2O di Riccardo de Michele in Maxi 4 e Gaetana di Riccardo Pavoncelli nella classe Multiscafi.

Maxi yacht Rolex Cup 2024, al via a Porto Cervo la regata che tocca Maddalena e Caprera

La regata costiera di circa 27 miglia ha portato a circumnavigare in senso orario le isole di La Maddalena e Caprera per fare rientro a Porto Cervo

Dopo giorni di rinvii a causa del maestrale, la flotta impegnata nella 34° Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup a Porto Cervo ha finalmente beneficiato di condizioni meteo perfette: vento da ovest tra 10 e 16 nodi, cielo limpido e sole per l’avvio delle regate. Due i campi di regata posizionati dallo Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, uno per la regata costiera di circa 27 miglia, che ha portato a circumnavigare in senso orario le isole di La Maddalena e Caprera per fare rientro a Porto Cervo, e l’altro per le prove a bastone che hanno impegnato i 10 yacht del primo Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship e i 4 yacht della classe Maxi 2, barche appartenute alla classe Maxi72 che regatano con il compenso IRC al di fuori dell’originaria regola di classe. 

I premiati  

Sullo stesso campo hanno regatato anche i Maxi 2, che hanno svolto 3 prove: con un primo, un terzo e un secondo posto conduce la classifica provvisoria Jolt (ex Cannonball) del socio YCCS Peter Harrison con il neozelandese Hamish Pepper alla tattica. Seguono appaiati, a un solo punto di distacco dal primo, Northstar of London di Peter Dubens, socio YCCS, e Proteus di George e Christina Sakellaris. La classe Supermaxi ha visto prevalere sia in tempo reale che compensato Moat del socio YCCS Juan Ball con Guillermo Parada alla tattica. Seguono i due J Class, Svea e Velsheda, rispettivamente secondo e terzo al calcolo dei tempi compensati, protagonisti di un duello a distanza ravvicinata lungo tutto il percorso della regata costiera. Tra i nove yacht della classe Maxi 3 ha prevalso Oscar 3 di Aldo Parisotto, seguito da Rose e Grande Orazio del socio YCCS Massimiliano Florio. I dieci Maxi 4 hanno visto imporsi Fra Diavolo di Vincenzo Addessi su Wallyño, del presidente IMA Benoît de Froidmont e H2O del socio YCCS Riccardo de Michele.
