Lil Yachty Responds to Funkmaster Flex's "Wack Rappers" List in New Freestyle

Lil boat has something to prove..

New York City radio personality Funkmaster Flex has built a reputation throughout his career for not only breaking new acts, but also never withholding opinions on rappers he deems as “wack.” So last week, it wasn’t a surprise when the DJ took to Diddy’s Instagram page to call out several artists in the comment section that he felt were “wack rappers.” The original post saw the rap mogul expressing concern over the current state of hip-hop saying, “I don’t want the culture to get diluted. Artists have to be special, you have to be unique. Don’t just be a part of the noise. Be great.”

So in support of Diddy’s sentiments, the 49-year-old DJ began firing away in the comment section, creating an impromptu “wack rappers” list that included G-Eazy, Nicki Minaj, Lil Pump and once again, Lil Yachty . Of course, the Sailing Team captain and Hot 97 radio personality have had their share of “run-ins and bump-ins on the internet,” according to Flex, but it now appears they’ve set aside their differences after a show of bravery from the Lil Boat 2 rapper who demanded to get on Hot 97 airwaves to prove he can rap. Lil Yachty delivered his "Go Krazy, Go Stupid Freestyle" on Saturday, just hours after teasing the release on Twitter.

"Go Krazy, Go Stupid" arrives as Yachty prepares to release the third installment of his Lil Boat series. The Atlanta rapper announced the project over a month ago, and shared a little taste of what he has in store.

The first Lil Boat mixtape was released in 2016, and the follow-up arrived 15 months ago. Yachty's last full-length project was 2018's  Nuthin’ 2 Prove , which featured Cardi B, Offset, Juice WRLD, Lil Baby, Trippie Redd, Gunna, and more.

Lil Yachty  has shared a new music video for his latest single “A Cold Sunday.”

The Aris Tatalovich–produced tune received video direction from AMD Visuals, showing Yachty in a minimalistic scene. The “Poland” artist wears ripped blue shorts, furry boots, a long sleeve white tee, bandana and shades.

The 26-year-old floats over a soulful beat effortlessly, as an unnamed sample loops in the background.

He raps: “It’s a cold Sunday to complain/ I hold it in until it rain/ I fought demons after fame/ I spent millions on terrain/ I treat my bitch just like Diana/ Pretty princess , hold the Fanta / 2003 Dolce & Gabbana.”

“She a city girl, I’m the real reason that she act up / She talk back, I make her pack up, send her home on Spirit,” he raps.

Lil Yachty Slammed For Song Referencing Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

“A Cold Sunday” follows Lil Yachty’s collab with rapper DontKallMeLuxxy last month, where the Brooklyn rapper references Megan Thee Stallion . On the track “Sydney” — which samples Beanie Siegel‘s “Feel It In The Air” — DontKallMeLuxxy raps: “He gon’ think you a trick ’til you treat her/ That ni**a always there better watch where you step, get treated like Megan Thee Stallion.”

While the lyrics aren’t Yachty’s, this is the second time he’s appeared on a song with a line taking a shot at Meg (no pun intended).

Lil Yachty Drops By For His "On The Radar Freestyle"

Lil Yachty 's run in 2023 has been one of the most fun and incredible moments in hip-hop. It is really hard to picture anyone else who is over him right now. The consistency, but also the quality of the output the Georgia artist has been giving us cannot be ignored. One of the most shining examples was his recent surprise track with J. Cole . "The Secret Recipe" sees Yachty rapping like his life depends on it with Cole coming in the second to deliver another great verse.

What also has to be said about Yachty has been his willingness to try new beats and instrumentals. The aforementioned track featured an Alchemist -like production. His genre-straddling record Let's Start Here. featured many different genres. Again, on top of that, his performances have been animated, and colorful. Also, when he is rapping, he is going all out. That is the case here with his "On The Radar Freestyle."
