With exterior design by Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD) and built by Icon Yachts , LOON 221 impresses at every level. In impeccable condition, her refit extension in 2014 added 16 feet (5 meters) expanding her aft deck spaces and including the addition of an infinity swimming pool. LOON 221 offers exceptional accommodation for her 12 overnight guests and is ideal for a family charter or a mixed group of friends. The spectacular owner’s suite is spread across two decks and has a private staircase that leads to the upper level study/lounge. The study/lounge can either be closed off as part of the master suite or accessible for all the guests. With full blackout blinds this area is also used as a cinema room. There is direct access both port and starboard sides to the fore-deck. Her VIP stateroom is found on the upper deck forward of the study. The yacht also benefits from a nearby single cabin (perfect for extra staff), while her four further guest staterooms are on the lower deck. One of LOON 221’s best features is her beach club. Opportunities to enjoy this space are maximized with comfortable sun loungers, a bar and seating area, a dedicated gym and a sauna room. The beach club will host hours of fun throughout the day and can even be a tranquil spot on board to take in the beauty of the cruising grounds. Guests can choose from a variety of versatile exterior spaces. LOON 221 offers two al fresco dining areas for 12 guests on her main and upper deck. In 2022, all of LOON 221’s exterior furnishings were replaced and are ready to be enjoyed by her next charter guests. Her minimalist, inviting interior is filled with light throughout. LOON 221 was designed to allow guests to socialize and relax together, as well as maximize the connection to the outdoors. Her dining room opens directly onto the main deck and allows seamless movement between the two areas, with a similar set up on her upper deck. As a result of her experienced captain and crew, LOON 221 benefits from a hugely successful charter program, with an award-winning crew dedicated to delivering a fun, active charter vacation for all guests on board. LOON 221 stands out for her incredible selection of water toys and on board activities – from inflatables to jet skis to SCUBA diving. LOON 221 is built for world cruising in utmost comfort. LOON Yacht Charter

LOON currently registered in the Netherlands is actively available for charter in several cruising destinations.

The luxury motor yacht LOON was built by Icon Yachts and delivered to her owner in 2010, she later underwent a refit in 2020.

The exterior of LOON is designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon.

The 221ft / 67.5m LOON has been constructed with a steel hull and is powered by 2 x MTU (2,480HP) with a cruising speed of 13 knots.

Charter guest accommodation

LOON has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 14 charter guests in 7 suites.

The guest cabins comprise a primary suite with a king size bed and en-suite bathroom facilities, 3 cabins with a twin bed and en-suite bathroom facilities and 3 cabins with a queen size bed and en-suite bathroom facilities.

Paul Clarke

Growing up in Australia and Bermuda Paul spent most of his youth on the water sailing competitively taking part in some of the biggest sailing regattas in the world. In 2002 Paul joined the yachting industry as a Bosun on a 50m Perini Navi sailing yacht and decided yachting is where he wanted to be. Working hard over the next few years Paul got his first captains’ position in 2007 and has been the captain on many different yachts from the 130’ Westport Redemption to the 155’ Perini Navi sailing yacht Helios. When Paul isn’t at work he is still out on the water Spearfishing.

Tyler Viljioen

Tyler was born in East London, South Africa. Growing up on the east coast of Africa is where his passion for the ocean was formed. Any chance he gets he is on a board whether it be surfing, skurfing or wakeboarding. He Started yachting fresh out of high school on some great yachts that travelled extensively. He got his OOW (officer of watch) certificate after his first yacht and over the years he continued to upgrade his qualifications to Chief Mate. At the young age of 26 he was already a chief mate on a well know 60m charter vessel. Tyler started out on the very first Loon as the Bosun for 2 years and has now come back as our chief officer. Knowing the program really well you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable holiday.

Ross Clarke

Ross grew up in England, in a small town called Leighton buzzard. He soon realized once he had finished his studies in mechanical engineering that there were better places in the world suited for him, and it was then when he became a dive instructor in the south pacific. From there he grew a love for boats and the ocean. Since then he has traveled to many different places around the world on yachts including the south pacific, Mediterranean, Africa and the USA. Ross has recently been in school completing his Y1 engineering, which is a great accomplishment.

Henro De Vos

Hendrick (Roo), is from a small beach town on the East coast… East coast of South Africa that is! He grew up in the Bluff, South Africa where he developed his love of the sea and all things encompassing. Roo is a really keen body boarder who also loves to scuba dive, free dive, spear fish and anything that can take him on an adventure. Roo has recently completed his OOW (Officer of Watch) and is eager to keep growing with the industry and one day captain his own vessel. His greatest hobby is Scuba diving and loves to take guests to experience it with him.

Blair Van Breda

Blair, like many of the crew, comes from the coastal town of Durban, South Africa. From a young age he had a passion for photography and videography as you will see him never without a camera in hand. In his free time he is on the water kitesurfing and fishing at any opportunity. Fun fact, Blair holds the record for the highest kite boarding jump on board out of the crew.

Tristan Welby-Cooke

Tristan is a young gun who grew up in Cape Town and has a huge love for the ocean, which is what got him into yachting as it was his opportunity to be in the water as a profession. He is an avid surfer and hopes to one day travel around to the best surfing destinations in the world. He also enjoys being in the outdoors surrounded by his closest friends, which you’ll probably see are the deck crew on board as they’re thick as thieves.

Dean Harriso

Dean grew up on the Sunshine Coast in a small coastal town called Noosa, Australia, where he worked as a chef from the age of 15 years old. Dean has been a chef for 17 years and cooking on yachts the past 13 years. Starting onboard dive boats on the Great Barrier Reef where he acquired his Dive Master. Influenced by Asian cuisines including Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese but also loves to cook what’s called modern Australian. In his spare time, he free dives the deepest oceans and snowboards the highest mountains, while also travelling to places that intrigue his taste buds.

Alex is no stranger when it comes to being surrounded by beautiful food and creating lasting memoires. At the age of 12 her grandmother gave her a personalized cookbook that she has kept over the years adding her own special recipes to it. Her grandfather and father owned their own butchery where she used to work as a young girl and it was then she developed her passion for food. Alex constantly keeps us nourished as her approach to cooking is healthy, holistic, fun and vibrant and you can definitely taste it.

Maxine Robert

Maxine was born and raised in Durban, South Africa. She has always had a love for the ocean – a true water baby. From morning dips in the ocean, and fun water activities. From a young age she has always had a passion for traveling. After getting her degree in Psychology and Business, she decided to get into yachting. It has been 10 years & she still loves every aspect of it. She has always had a love for yoga which led her to get her teacher training and is now a qualified yoga teacher. With Max’s bubbly personality you are bound to have a wonderful time onboard Motor Yacht Loon.

Fiona Lewis

Fiona was born and raised in York, England where she completed her Sport and Exercise Science degree. One of her personal training clients suggested she work as a stew/PT on yachts. Being someone who loves to travel she thought why not. This led her to join yachting and the rest is history. She has now been in yachting for 7 years travelling all over the world on the high seas including remote places such as Patagonia, Antarctica and Ushuaia. From the mountain slopes to the ocean, she loves an outdoor activity. You’re always sure to see Fi smiling and making sure you have an optimal experience onboard Loon.

Marguerite Snyman

Marguerite grew up on the sunny South coast of South Africa. After completing her honors degree in Advertising, she traded in her books for flip flops and traveled and taught English in Vietnam. After that she worked in a design and social media company in the beautiful beach town called Ballito along the east coast of South Africa. Being an adventurer, she just couldn’t stay settled and left her job to join the yachting industry. Loon is her first yacht, and she is now fully immersed and loving every aspect of it. Marguerite loves wellness, people, food, nature and is always smiling.

Paige Gafney

Paige is an adventurous, independent and dedicated individual. She is new to the yachting industry but is very motivated to learn new skills and push herself to do her best in anything she sets out to achieve. Paige loves being around new people and has a love for travel. In her previous career of Fashion it allowed her to learn time management, creativity and multi-tasking.

Klara Holubova

Klara is from the Czech Republic. She is a very cheerful, friendly, optimistic, energetic person who loves to learn new things. She is new to yachting and Loon is her very first boat. Klara worked as a Massage practitioner in a 5-star spa on the west coast of Canada for 2 years before joining us. She specializes in Signature Massages, Organic Facials and Massages with Hot Stones.

LOON 221 yacht's interior styling is done by Redman Whiteley Dixon, with the interior design being a work of the renowned Studio Linse. The decor is timeless, elegant and neutral. A sumptuous salon lounge on the main deck offers plush seating, set in a social atmosphere surrounding a large coffee table and the latest in entertainment; further aft is the formal dining easily accompanying up to 10 guests. She boasts panoramic windows which provide great natural light and stunning views from the salon and dining area. Soft lighting and bespoke finishes create a sophisticated feel, perfect for every occasion. On the main deck forward is the master stateroom, boasting a full beam layout, king-size bed, easy access to the upper observation lounge and study and a large ensuite with a luxurious custom tub. The master cabin benefits from spectacular views, excellent storage and exterior access on both port and starboard, leading to the upper foredeck, featuring seating and sun pads.

Her upper deck comprises a sky lounge, complete with sofas, a beautiful leather ottoman and full entertainment systems. The VIP guest cabin is located on the upper deck forward of the sky lounge to starboard and features a generous shower room. On the lower deck are two double cabins, as well as two twin cabins, all ensuite. ICON has a fabulous beach club thanks to the extension she received; it includes a gym, hammam, sauna, wet bar, lounge, bathroom with shower, dive centre, exterior sunloungers on the teak beach and direct access to the four lower deck cabins.

On deck guests will find there are plenty of areas to relax, entertain and be social, no matter the occasion. Her expansive teak beach and beach club, based on the lower deck, features an extended swim area, sun loungers, lounge, hammam, sauna, wet bar, and shower, it is the ideal area for incredible fun during the day, enjoying the multitude of water toys. On the main deck, aft of the salon is large exterior aft deck, which features an alfresco dining area, sun pads, and large swimming pool. The upper deck has ample outside seating and a further alfresco dining table. Her top deck boasts additional sun pads, seating, and deluxe Jacuzzi tub.

The owner’s suite has a private flight of stairs with direct access to an owner’s salon, which can be kept private or opened up to guests. The architecture of the outside areas of the yacht helps give the exterior its “definitive proportions.” Dramatically staged overhangs with raked superstructure were carefully balanced in profile against the interior volumes, giving the yacht huge amounts of living area for its size. The interior styling features modern furnishing in soft tones for the relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

Thanks to the advanced technology used in the construction of the yacht, she can provide smooth cruising experience in any conditions, while stabilizers reduce roll motion and for ultimate comfort.

Superyacht LOON 221 is the first Icon Yachts vessel ever launched by the shipyard. She boasts a very graceful steel hull built with an aluminium superstructure. Her beam measures 11.40 meters and her draft is of 3.50 meters. She reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots, thanks to her twin MTU engines. A cruising speed is 12 knots with an impressive range of 6,000 nautical miles. The capacity of her fuel tanks is of 160,000 litres.

The 221.5-foot (67.5m) motor yacht ICON lives up to her name in every sense. She represents everything a truly spectacular superyacht should offer. Built in 2010 by Icon Yachts in the Netherlands, she has a beam of 37.5-feet (11.4m) and a draft of 12.6-feet (3.8m). Her stylish and tasteful interior was created by Studio Linse. Calming cream furnishings meet sumptuous dark leathers for a sophisticated effect, and large windows ensure plenty of natural daylight flows throughout the yacht. Every detail has been thought through and she has been lovingly updated by her owner and crew to ensure she remains a luxurious and popular charter choice. 

In the winter, ICON turns to the Caribbean where she can be seen in the British and US Virgin Islands, Cuba and the Leeward and Winward Islands. She also offers Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. In the summer she introduces her guests to the very finest attractions of Croatia, Italy, Sicily and Montenegro. One of ICON’s most popular features is her beach club. This is an enticing space with a lounge area, television, sun loungers, bar, gym and sauna – everything guests need to relax in the sun. The yacht also offers a massage room, Jacuzzi on the bridge deck, a sea-water swimming pool and an impressive array of water toys and watersports equipment.

ICON’s friendly crew of 18 experts are on hand to ensure first-class service and gourmet meals whenever desired. The yacht sleeps 12 guests in up to seven staterooms. The private guest accommodation includes an owner’s stateroom that can be accessed via the main-deck lobby or from a lounge/study on the upper deck. The latter can be entirely dedicated to the owner or can be made available to all guests. On the upper deck there is a double en-suite stateroom and a staff cabin, if required. On the lower deck are four staterooms that can be adapted in flexible arrangements to suit each charter party.

Delivered by Icon Yachts in 2010, the 68m (221ft) superyacht ICON has recently been sold and renamed LOON . Built for ocean-going cruising, the luxury motor yacht  is offering once-in-a-lifetime charter vacations in the  Mediterranean this summer.

Sporting an attractive exterior designed by RWD and naval architecture from Jouke van der Baan, the yacht is home to an abundance of spacious social areas that are perfect for relaxing, socializing and entertaining. 

Characterized by her clean exterior lines and anthracite-gray paintwork, the 1,295 GT yacht LOON offers accommodation for 12 guests across 7 well-appointed cabins. 

Key features onboard the impressive four-deck superyacht include her aft deck infinity swimming pool, her whirlpool on the bridge deck, a fully-equipped gym, a massage room, and sauna.

Motor yacht LOON is also renowned for its exceptional watersports program so guests can look forward to thrilling activities such as kitesurfing, wakeboarding, e-foiling and diving activities during their vacation.

In terms of performance, motor yacht LOON is equipped with twin MTU engines, comfortably cruising at 13 knots and reaching a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles.

What Can an 8-day Charter in the Caribbean onboard Motor Yacht Loon Offer?

The Caribbean yacht charter season is in full swing, and Motor Yacht Loon has been busy welcoming various guests onboard, especially in the BVIs. This Caribbean island chain is the perfect superyacht charter location to enjoy onboard Yacht Loon. Captain Paul and the crew have already taken guests to lots of their favourite destinations and ensured an experience of a lifetime with the best-curated itineraries here. From action-packed, family-friendly charters to relaxing couple trips, adventures vary depending on the group. Think snorkelling hidden caves, tours of private islands, epic beach setups, various watersports, and so much more!

While all itineraries are tailor-made to your specific preferences, this 8-day example itinerary enjoyed by a recent family can give you a taste of what a charter in the Caribbean could entail. Each itinerary for Motor Yacht Loon ensures flexibility dependent on the range of activities available in the destinations, changeable tropical weather and your desires. Captain Paul is adaptable to all changes due to his wealth of experience and knowledge of the Caribbean cruising areas and knows the best spots to take you for the most memorable superyacht charter.

DAY 1 – Welcome Onboard

The ideal embarkation point for any BVI superyacht charter is St Thomas in the USVI. While you get comfortable onboard, Yacht Loon will be anchored in Magens Bay before cruising onto the BVIs for the week to begin. The crew will ensure you have everything ready to set you up for the most memorable week. An evening of tropical cocktails and delicious food awaits you, dining alfresco coupled with tasty cuisine, friendly service and that balmy Caribbean breeze.

DAY 2 – Play in Loon’s Favourite Anchorages

Anchored in Norman Island is one of Captain Paul’s favourite spots; he ties Yacht Loon to the rocks to ensure the best guest experience. From here, the secluded anchorage means the crew can set up various watersports, including the enormous FunAir inflatable setup that has become one of the things Loon is known for in the superyacht world. With children on board, there is always fun to be found within Loon’s huge toy box; the water guns always provide endless entertainment for them and the crew! To check out our full toy collection, click here . If guests want to venture ashore, there are endless opportunities for hiking throughout the BVIs. If the weather isn’t on your side, sometimes a refreshing downpour is welcomed on a sweaty hike – but if not, the crew are always on hand to switch up activities.

DAY 3 – Take Fun-filled Excursions

While the weather cannot be guaranteed each day, the crew will always have a whole host of exciting excursions on offer. Spending a day anchored near Buck Island can include a visit to spend time with some playful animals. You can visit the island’s ranch, home to zebras, miniature ponies and tortoises. After a session of feeding and petting the animals, there is an additional chance for some horse riding. From here and back onboard, Loon can head to Peter Island, where the guests can enjoy the X Craft , whether it be a gentle snorkelling safari or the more adrenaline-inducing tubing. To refuel after a fun day, the chefs prepare what each group needs. Head to the aft deck for a family-friendly pizza night, or opt for more romantic and formal fine dining; the choice is yours!

DAY 4 – Get a Dose of Nature

Next in the BVI island chain to visit is Guana Island. Spending the day here, you will have the opportunity for a fantastic hike with 360-panoramic views across the islands and the bays. Captain Paul can guide you while sharing his experienced insights into the islands and pointing out the best views. If hiking isn’t for you, the crew can set you up for the best beach day with all the amenities and fun from Loon’s toybox. Staying onboard, why not spend the day relaxing by Loon’s pool with a good book and cocktail by your side? Be sure to always keep your eye out for those resident BVI dolphins and turtles circling the yacht.

DAY 5 – Enjoy Calm Waters

Captain Paul always finds the best anchorages for the conditions; itineraries will be adapted to ensure guests have the most comfortable time. North Sound is one of our favourites – a natural hurricane hole with calm waters. This beautiful bay is also the perfect location for some kite surfing. After a day playing with the Cabrinha kites, head to the Bitter End Yacht Club for a refreshing sundowner. The crew onboard Yacht Loon always goes above and beyond to ensure guests have the best time – how about some evening entertainment, such as an intriguing onboard magic show?

DAY 6 – Swim in Hidden Caves

It would be a shame to be on a Caribbean charter without heading to the world-famous natural phenomenon of The Baths, located at the southern tip of Virgin Gorda. This world heritage area is excellent for swimming amongst the boulders. Spend the time here following Captain Paul, searching out the hidden caves, rock pools and grottos. If you loved getting under the water, be sure to take advantage of the ScubaPro gear onboard for a dive searching out some of the BVIs best shipwrecks. The Caribbean is an ideal location to enjoy fresh fish, and you won’t be disappointed onboard Yacht Loon; local fishermen regularly visit the chefs to present their catches of the day. Swimming The Baths builds the perfect appetite for fresh barbecued Mahi for lunch.

DAY 7 – Take Private Island Tours

Continuing the BVI cruising itinerary, you can head to the private Necker Island. Sir Richard Branson is regularly there to greet guests, and a private island tour can be arranged for guests to be driven around in convertible golf carts. You will spot a wide range of wildlife here, such as lemurs, giant tortoises, and native flamingos. After the tour, you can head back to Loon or extend the day out and visit the small island of Saba Rock.

DAY 8 – Enjoy Last-Minute Fun
