Luxury Yacht Rental in Kuwait
Luxury yacht charter guide to kuwait.
Spectacularly sandwiched in-between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Kuwait is often overlooked when sailing the warm waters of the Arabian Gulf. This oil rich little gem serves up a striking skyline, glorious mosques with sky puncturing minarets, desert safaris, charming marinas, and some of the most mesmerizing flavors in the Middle East. The beaches of Kuwait are simply stunning – clear, calm and with iridescent shades of white and blue. Being only a pint-sized country with plenty of coastline makes it an excellent charter destination and its tax-free status secures it as one of the best shopping stops when sailing from port to port.
Reasons to Charter a Yacht in Kuwait
Amazing attractions.
Kuwait’s skyline staggers under the weight of so many amazing attractions. The Kuwait Towers with its triple slender columns is one of the best spots for cloud perching views right across the city. The 19th Century Seif Palace stands in direct juxtaposition to the modern towers, boasting a gold-plated rooftop and beautiful blue tiles. The Grand Mosque is another must, with its 144 windows, soaring teak doors, and gold central dome that leaves an everlasting impression.
Mouthwatering Morsels
A bustling port filled to the brim with no less than 70 percent of its population being expats, Kuwait is nothing short of a cultural crossroads. With so many people from across the globe, this means that the foodie scene is simply dazzling. Each corner of the far-flung world is represented in taste, but the Persian style food is the one to truly grab the imagination by both hands. Saffron bright rice and chicken dishes are the local delicacy, warm flatbreads are used to mop up spicy hummus, and fresh seafood straight from the warm Arabian waters sizzle in style.
Sublime Shopping
Golden Souks and designer shopping malls pave the way to a spenders paradise in Kuwait. Hit up The Avenues to pick up gorgeous garments from top-tier brands, dine at award-winning restaurants, and be dazzled by the glittering jewels adorning the windows. For a more traditional take on splurging, the 200-year-old Souq-Al-Mubarakiya is where to load up on silk carpets, antiques, Persian style perfumes and Kuwait jewelry.
Where to Visit in Kuwait
Kuwait city.
Authentically Arab and with scores of personality, Kuwait City takes up a big chunk of this small country. A vibrant and beautiful city, Kuwait City is surprisingly modern. The city is filled with art galleries, museums, magical mosques, and memorials. This is where you will find all the finest cultural sites in Kuwait, not to mention some of the best restaurants for dining with abandon and glorious spas for perfect pampering.
Failaka Island
The tiny island of Failaka is a must for charter guests looking to island hop in the fourth wealthiest country in the world. Sitting 20km away from Kuwait City, the island started life way back in the 3rd Millennium BC when it was occupied by the Dilmun civilization. Afterwards, it passed many hands including belonging to the Babylonians. It also comes soaked in Greek history, awash with Byzantine ruins, and brimming with the remains of Christina settlements. Along with darting around to find out all about the island's history, there is plenty of scope for watersports, swimming, fishing, and basking in all the pleasures of island life.
Kazmah Desert
From the sparkling waters of the Arabian Gulf to the gold and red desert dunes, for such a small country, Kuwait has plenty of different landscapes on offer. The Kazmah Desert Cliffs bring the most sublime sunset colors to the table and are also a great spot for rallying around on 4X4’s and learning to sandboard. Powder soft beneath the board, the sport is exhilarating. Even if you don’t want to fly down the slopes, heading deep into the desert for stargazing and to feel the expanse of the dunes is an absolute must.
When to Charter a Yacht in Kuwait
Like many Middle Eastern desert and gulf destinations, the best time to charter a yacht to Kuwait is the shoulder seasons. Spring and Autumn keep things temperate so that the summer heat doesn’t scorch. Winters can be unpredictable and while not heavy, can be crisp and cold or gray and drizzly. Between March and May and between September and October are the best times to set sail.

Breaking news, all about the $40m bayesian yacht that capsized, leaving 6 dead and 1 still missing.
The massive superyacht Bayesian that sank off the coast of Italy on Monday won numerous awards for its sleek interior design — and was sold to its original owner for nearly $40 million.
The luxury sailing ship was carrying 22 people when it capsized and sank during a fierce storm early Monday.
The bodies of five of six missing passengers, including British tech tycoon Mike Lynch , 69, have been recovered. His daughter, 18-year-old Hannah, is the only one of six known killed in the tragedy yet to be found, a source close to the rescue operation told Reuters.
The ship’s chef, Recaldo Thomas, has also been confirmed dead.
Divers continued searching the wreckage of the 184-foot-long, British-flagged vessel, previously called Salute, on Wednesday after discovering four of the bodies.
When it was built in 2008, the Bayesian had the tallest aluminum mast in the world, standing at 237 feet, earning it the award for best exterior styling at the World Superyacht Awards in 2009, the Telegraph reported.
The sprawling superyacht’s interior, decorated with sleek, minimalist furnishings created by Remi Tessier, has also won numerous awards.
The ship, which accommodated 12 guests, had a master bedroom and three double and two twin bedrooms.
It also featured beige sofas, dark wood furnishings, and a teak deck equipped with a large canvas awning to keep guests cool, according to the outlet.
Some of the ship’s styling, including thin brown pillars and miniature terra cotta sculptures, was inspired by Japanese culture.
What to know after a tornado sank the yacht Bayesian off the coast of Sicily:
- A superyacht capsized off the coast of Sicily after a tornado hit the area early Monday, killing seven passengers.
- British tech tycoon Mike Lynch was identified as one of the bodies pulled from the wreckage. His teenage daughter, Hannah, was the final one to be recovered.
- Lynch — known as “Britain’s Bill Gates” — had invited guests from Clifford Chance, a legal firm that represented him, and Invoke Capital, his own company, on the voyage, according to the Telegraph .
- Security camera footage shot from 650 feet from where the Bayesian sank Monday shows it disappearing.
- A rare and unexpected “black swan” weather event may have led to the Bayesian’s speedy demise , maritime experts say.
The extravagant ship won best interior at the International Superyacht Society Awards in 2008 and was also voted one of the best large sailing yachts at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards, according to the outlet.
The yacht’s original owner, John Groenewoud, a Dutch real estate developer, reportedly bought the ship for £30 million ($39 million) when it was built. In 2014, he sold the ship with an asking price of £27 million ($35 million).

The Bayesian is currently owned by Revtom, a company that listed Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, as its legal owner.
It was named after the Bayesian statistical model that helps financial investors calculate risk — the subject of Lynch’s PhD that later helped him build his empire.
The vessel, operated by yachting company Camper & Nicholsons, had twin 965hp MTU engines, which gave it a range of 3,600 nautical miles at 13 to 15 knots (14 to 17 mph).
RSB Rigging carried out rig service works on the ship with Astilleros de Mallorca, a shipyard facility in Palma, in November 2016.
The Bayesian returned in September 2020 for scheduled service works, including having its mast removed and reinstalled.
Steve Branagh, managing director of RSB Rigging, told the Telegraph: “At this time, our deepest sympathies go out to the friends and families of all those affected by this dreadful tragedy.”

Firstly, we were overcharged, and when we asked for the refund they keep postponing saying "inshalla tomorrow." It has been over a week now and they have not refunded us. Secondly, on our way back from Failaka, we had booked the 11 PM ferry with two cars. As we arrived at 10:20 PM, they were not letting anymore cars in because the car area was already full. It seems like they let in extra people in, while those who specifically booked this time slot were unable to go back to Kuwait with their cars. It was EXTREMELY inconvenient for us to just leave the cars behind in Failaka, and go back to the Ikarus the next day to pick it up. Horrible experience, will never use Ikarus or recommend them to anyone. I will make sure to share this experience with my 20K followers to ensure no one travels with them. 13 people found this review helpful 👍
- 1/5 faisal j. 5 years ago on Google • 7 reviews I will give 0 stars for service and coordination. First time i came and bought the tickets and when we went down to the boat area, it just sailed away. There is simply no coordination between the boat and sales agent when they could have coordinated and informed us the arrangements. We are very unhappy but decided to come again because there are no refunds given. According to their procedures, when 10 people are on the boat, they will sail. The second time we came, we had already more than 10 people on the boat and still they waited for more to come. We already had waited more than an hour on the boat at the time. The boat sailed after 1 hour 20 minutes of waiting. A total waste of time!! There are no communications whatsoever between the crew n passengers. Absolutely horrible service and I will not recommend to anyone else. 9 people found this review helpful 👍

- 1/5 Anthony Y. 3 years ago on Google • 75 reviews Unreliable service, over priced. The company doesn't have a proper dock on the island so the slightest bit of wind they will cancel their trips for the rest of the day. You will be stranded possibly for days if you planned for a weekend trip. Staff will not inform you of changes in the schedule it's your responsibility to find out if thier schedule has changed. 7 people found this review helpful 👍
- 3/5 Samuel W. 4 years ago on Google • 75 reviews Ikarus provide transport services to failaka island. No information available anywhere. So we walked in and ask. The ferry schedule depart around 10am and coming back from the island at 7pm.(as of 26th Dec 2019) ferry running is subjected to tide (as they said). Best to book the ticket only on the day itself, ask if the ferry is running, as there will be no refund is ticket is purchased in advance and the ferry is not running on the day itself.(as what we had been advised) 6 people found this review helpful 👍
- 1/5 Wheyay W. 1 year ago on Google • 8 reviews Very bad service, which i dont recommend anyone to use Ikarus, i have booked for 25 ppl and took the boat to filaka, which was all perfect. However, on the way back, they told us your boat is full take the other one which was also full. Then they wanted to separate our group so half can take 1 boat and the other half take the second boat. Of course, we declined, as we leave the same way we came. They started screaming and told us that if you dont want 2 go into the other boat, we would just leave. We stayed standing for around 20 mins fighting. Then one guy came and checked the boat that we were supposed to take and noticed half the ppl are in it should go to the other boat. They also declined to go there. After all the arguments between everyone, we got in the boat and there are no seats available for everyone, so thanks Ikarus for the worst experience and no saftey as ppl setting avove each other and standing on a speed boat. 5 people found this review helpful 👍

Why isnt it allowed? Its your mess up !! 3- After a longggggg fight, we were given extra coupons for some day activities on the island we were going to, only to find that the main staff didnt communicate the same to the island staff, and having to wait around and witness their fight with each other at literally every station of the day activity Worse day trip of my life !! And eventually, the isalnd they took us to was not even worth the visit, it is not taken care of at all and not serviced properly. 1 person found this review helpful 👍

During my visit to Kuwait, I was planning to go to Failka Island, then I won in their competition on Instagram, but with their long procedure. Delay in response, and ignoring my calls and messages I couldn't even book a trip with another company because they were procrastinating while responding me. My visit come to an end and I didn't visit Failka Island.
Did Bayesian superyacht’s 237ft mast cause it to sink?
B ayesian’s 237ft metal mast may have played a part in the sinking of the superyacht off the coast of Sicily , experts have suggested.
The yacht, named after the mathematical theory Mike Lynch used to make his millions in the tech industry, foundered in the small hours of Monday morning.
Key among potential reasons for the loss of the vessel will be its most striking feature – the aluminium mast.
Four British personnel from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch are on their way to Palermo to carry out a preliminary assessment.
There are also theories that hot overnight temperatures of 27C (80C) could have prompted passengers to leave portholes and windows open – hastening the sinking when the high winds hit.
Launched in 2008 by Perini Navi, Bayesian is one of the 50 largest sailing yachts in the world and her mammoth mast supported a total sail area of almost 32,000 sq ft.
Bayesian had the tallest aluminium mast in the world when it first took to the seas under her former name Salute. The record was overtaken last year when Jeff Bezos, the Amazon billionaire launched his yacht, Koru.
Koru’s masts stretch to 278ft tall according to Boat International magazine.
Tom Sharpe, a former Royal Navy commander and warship captain, said initial reports from survivors and witnesses suggested “that the weather was sufficiently violent to cause her to capsize at anchor”.
Weather reports from Palermo airport, 12 miles west of the yacht, suggest that at about 4am, winds switched from a gentle south-westerly breeze to gusts of 40mph, with temperatures dropping.
Local newspapers have described the weather as a tornado and a waterspout, which is a tornado above water.
The pressure of high winds on the mast could have helped tip the boat over in rough seas, experts have suggested.
Mr Sharpe said capsizing seemed “unlikely” to him given the Bayesian’s size “and that boats like that are designed to survive poor weather – unless something failed at the same time like a valve that let water in and made the whole boat unstable”.
He said it was more likely that the Bayesian had “dragged anchor”. Anchors are designed to lodge on rocks on the seabed, but if the seabed is too soft, or weather is so bad that the anchor is dislodged, then a boat can drag its anchor and drift.
If a boat drifts into an obstruction such as a rock or another boat, this can damage the boat by tearing a hole in its side leading to sinking, Mr Sharpe suggested.
The sea bed off Porticello, the Silician harbour nearest to where Bayesian was moored for the night, consists of a mixture of rocky and muddy areas, according to nautical charts reviewed by The Telegraph.
This means the yacht could have dragged anchor if it had been lowered into a soft, muddy patch of seabed.
A captain of another boat anchored nearby said his vessel was hit by abnormally strong winds on Monday morning.
Karsten Borner said the Sir Robert BP was battered by strong gusts in the early hours of the morning but he managed to stabilise the vessel while anchored by using the engine.
He said as they were doing this, they noticed the Bayesian nearby and manoeuvred to avoid hitting it.
“We managed to keep the ship in position, and after the storm was over, we noticed that the ship behind us was gone,” said Capt Borner.
Mr Sharpe said: “From a seamanship point of view, the other boat (Sir Robert BP) coming up on her main engines and using those to keep position around [her own] anchor is what you should do. Yacht anchors are often not that robust and that is the best way to avoid putting too much strain on it and/or dragging.”
An alternative theory is that the weight of the mast led the Bayesian to capsize.
A yacht industry source told The Times that the vessel sank after the weight of her mast took the hull beyond its “down-flooding angle” – the point at which a boat cannot right itself after swinging at a steep angle – meaning water rushed over the sides into the interior.
“The wind toppled the mast, which fell over the side, causing the boat to heel over and take on water, capsize and sink very quickly,” the source said.
This can occur whether the mast snapped off or not.
Sam Jefferson, editor of Sailing Today, told The Telegraph: “She has a very tall, aluminium mast – I believe it is the second tallest aluminium mast in the world – and that would not have helped.
“Many yachts with big masts have carbon masts instead of aluminium as these save on weight and improve stability and performance.
“Stability was obviously the problem in the extremely strong winds she was experiencing and I’d assume the boat was pinned on its side and could not right before it filled up with water.”
Another superyacht expert who asked not to be named told The Telegraph that the mast could have pulled the Bayesian over into capsizing, although he expressed some scepticism, saying sailing yachts are designed to prevent that from happening.
He said the anchor-dragging theory was also a plausible explanation for why the Bayesian sank.
Typically, crews try to anchor in safe spots that are sheltered away from the wind, they said.
The Bayesian was moored just off Porticello, a few miles east of Palermo. Prevailing winds from the north-east may have robbed the vessel of the shelter offered by the Sicilian coast, which lay to the west.
Dr Lynch was reportedly aboard the vessel. His wife, Angela Bacares, is among those rescued but six others, including four Britons, are still missing.
One person, reportedly the yacht’s chef, died in the incident and his body was recovered by rescuers.
The Bayesian’s last refit was in 2020.
The vessel was listed for rent for up to €195,000 (£166,000) a week, according to online charter websites.
The interior featured six cabins – one master, three doubles and two twin rooms – for up to a dozen guests, with the crew occupying separate quarters.
Fitted out in a Japanese style, the interior was styled by the Remi Tessler design house.
Under her former name Salute, the yacht won the Best Exterior prize at the World Superyacht Awards in 2009, and the Best Interior at the International Superyacht Society Awards in 2008.
A coastguard statement issued on Monday morning said the missing passengers were of “British, American and Canadian nationality”.
Camper & Nicholsons, managers of the Bayesian, confirmed the vessel sank at about 4.30am following “severe weather”.
The Italian Coast Guard is leading search and rescue operations, and said on Monday it had safely recovered 15 individuals.

A Boston Duck Tours boat rescued a child and an adult from the Charles River, according to the Cambridge Fire Department on Monday.
The two were near the area of 40 Land Blvd., in a harbor area across from the Boston Museum of Science, according to a post from the fire department’s X account with a map.
Cambridge emergency service, Cambridge police and Massachusetts State Police were also on scene, fire officials wrote.
It was unclear what condition the two people were in, though fire officials said first responders were evaluating them.
MassLive has reached out to the Cambridge Fire Department for more information.

Boston duck boat captains rescue toddler and father from Charles River
- The Associated Press
Captains of a Boston “duck boat” rescued a father and son from the Charles River after the toddler tumbled into the water followed by his father on Monday, officials said.
The Boston Duck Tours boat, which take tourists both on water and on land, was participating in quarterly safety drills when it retrieved the pair from the water. The boy was taken to a hospital as a precaution Monday morning, the Cambridge Fire Department said.
“This is crazy. This is happening while we’re doing training," Michael Rosario, one of the captains, recounted to reporters. “Now we’re doing real-life rescue.”
The boy, who’s under 2, got past safety railing and fell into the river behind the Royal Sonesta, a riverfront hotel in Cambridge, according to Massachusetts State Police. His father quickly jumped in after him.
Photos showed both of them in the water with the father clinging to a rock face with one arm while holding his son with the other.
Rosario and co-captain Kevin O’Neil tossed out a safety ring, maneuvered close to them and dropped a ladder. Once both were safely aboard, they motored to the dock in Cambridge where they were met by first responders.
“We were happy to be in the right place at the right time,” said Tom Vigna, director of marketing for Boston Duck Tours.

Who is Mike Lynch? UK entrepreneur among those missing after superyacht sinks off Sicily
Mike lynch, a 59-year-old british technology entrepreneur, was among the six missing passengers who were aboard the bayesian, a yacht that sank in sicily, italy..
Six people remain missing after a luxury superyacht sank off the coast of Palermo in Sicily, Italy on Monday, including British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch.
Lynch, 59, was aboard the Bayesian, an 184-foot-long British-registered sailboat that sank into the water right before sunrise. While six individuals are missing — including American, British and Canadian nationals — one person has been confirmed deceased from the sinking that capsized the yacht's 22 passengers, Italy's coast guard said in a statement.
Of the 15 rescued passengers, eight were taken to a local hospital for treatment and were in stable condition, CNN reported. A 1-year-old was among those rescued. The large vessel sank after heavy rainfall from strong storms caused flooding and landslides in parts of Italy.
Prosecutors in a town near Palermo have since opened an investigation into the events leading up to the sinking, which may shed some light on why Lynch was aboard the superyacht. Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, was one of the rescued passengers, the BBC reported.
Here is what we know about Lynch.
What companies did Mike Lynch found?
In 1996, Lynch co-founded the Autonomy Corporation, an enterprise software company now known as HP Autonomy. He also founded Invoke Capital , a venture capital fund.
Through Invoke Capital, Lynch became a co-founder of Darktrace, a British cyber security company established in 2013 and headquartered in Cambridge, England.
Why was Mike Lynch charged with fraud?
Soon after Lynch sold Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard (HP) for $11 billion in 2011, a sale in which he made around $800 million, he was hit with civil and criminal charges.
In November 2012, HP announced an $8.8 billion writedown of assets and claimed Autonomy artificially inflated its value by hiding "serious accounting improprieties, disclosure failures and outright misrepresentations," the Guardian reported.
Although the UK Serious Fraud Office ended its investigation of the sale due to insufficient evidence, Lynch and Stephen Chamberlain, former vice president of finance at Autonomy, were indicted for fraud in the U.S. in November 2018. Sushovan Hussain , Autonomy's former finance chief officer, was found guilty of fraud in 2018 and sentenced to five years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California .
HP won a civil action in the High Court in London in January 2022 against Lynch and Hussian, the BBC reported. Damages were to be decided later, with the judge saying the amount would be "significantly less" than the $5 billion claimed by HP, according to the outlet.
Was Mike Lynch found guilty?
Lynch was extradited to the US in May 2023 to face 16 counts of wire fraud, securities fraud and conspiracy. He and Chamberlain, who was charged with 15 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy, pleaded not guilty.
On June 6, 2024, the men were found not guilty of all charges.
Lynch told BBC Radio 4 in August that although he knew he was innocent at the onset of this 11-week trial, he felt his wealth allowed him to prove his case in U.S. court.
"You shouldn't need to have funds to protect yourself as a British citizen," he said.
Stephen Chamberlain on life support
On Saturday, two days before Lynch's disappearance, Chamberlain was seriously injured in a road accident, Reuters reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Chamberlain was struck by a car in Cambridgeshire on Saturday morning and was placed on life support, the person said, per Reuters.

One person dead and six missing after superyacht with 22 on board is sunk by tornado off coast of Italy
British tech tycoon Mike Lynch is among those unaccounted for after the ship was battered by a tornado off the coast of Palermo in the early hours of Monday morning.
Tuesday 20 August 2024 16:20, UK
A man has died and six people are missing after a UK-flagged superyacht sank off the coast of Sicily in a tornado - with a prominent British businessman among those unaccounted for.
Technology tycoon Mike Lynch owned the 56-metre vessel (183ft), named Bayesian.
Mr Lynch, known as the "British Bill Gates", has been in the headlines in recent months over a high-profile fraud case.
In June, he was cleared of all charges by a US jury related to the sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard in 2011.
Mr Lynch's 18-year-old daughter Hannah is among those missing after his yacht sank, local media reports.

Mr Lynch's wife Angela Bacares is confirmed to be among the 15 people who were rescued after the British-flagged yacht capsized at around 4.30am local time (3.30am UK time) on Monday.
One body has also been recovered, after being found close to the vessel, according to local media.

The boat was hit by a tornado over the water, known as a waterspout, that struck where the yacht had been anchored during the storm.
Police divers have been trying to reach the hull of the ship, which is resting at a depth of 50 metres (163 feet) off Porticello, near Palermo.
During the rescue effort, divers saw "corpses through the portholes" of the wreck, Salvo Cocina, the head of the Civil Protection of Sicily, said.
“They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he added.
The incident comes days after Stephen Chamberlain, Mr Lynch's co-accused in the fraud trial, died in a car collision in Stretham, Cambridgeshire.
Mr Chamberlain's lawyer said he was out running on Saturday when he was hit by a car.
Most on board yacht thought to be British
The boat had 12 passengers and a crew of 10 people. Four of the missing passengers are British and two are American, Italian news website la Reppublica reports.
Most of those on board were reported to be from Britain - including a mother and one-year-old daughter who are among those rescued.
Speaking to the Giornale Di Sicilia newspaper, Charlotte Golunski said: "For two seconds I lost my baby in the sea, then I immediately hugged her again amid the fury of the waves.
"I held her tightly, close to me, while the sea was stormy. Many were screaming. Luckily, the lifeboat inflated and 11 of us managed to get on board."

Ms Golunski was reportedly given stitches for a chest injury following the ordeal. The father of the child also survived, Mr Cocina said.
Eight of the 15 people rescued and taken ashore at Porticello were taken to hospital, while the others were taken to a hotel.
The Italian coast guard said the boat had passengers from Britain, the US, and Canada.
Meanwhile, multiple Italian news outlets reported that people on the boat were from Britain, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Ireland.
British-French citizens were also among those on the superyacht, according to reports.
'I saw it sinking with my own eyes'
Pietro Asciutto, a fisherman from Porticello who witnessed the storm, told local media: "I was at home when the tornado hit. I immediately closed all the windows. Then I saw the boat, it had only one mast, it was very big. I saw it suddenly sink."
He added: "I think the whirlwind came from Porticello... shortly afterwards I went down to Santa Nicolicchia Bay to get a better look at what was happening.
"The boat was still floating, then all of a sudden it disappeared. I saw it sinking with my own eyes."
Fabio Cefalu, another local fisherman, called rescue services after spotting the wrecked boat off Porticello.
He said: "Around 3.55am we witnessed the whirlwind. After a quarter of an hour, we saw a flare 500 metres away from the dock.
"Around 4:35am we went out to sea for the rescue, however, we only saw the remains of the boat floating. There were no men in the sea. So we immediately called the harbour master's office."
A spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said: "We are in contact with the local authorities following an incident in Sicily, and stand ready to provide consular support to British nationals affected."
Camper and Nicholsons, which provided yacht management services for the Bayesian, has confirmed the vessel sank at around 4.30am local time.
The company said in a statement: "The Italian coast guard is leading search and rescue operations, and has safely recovered 15 individuals. Efforts to locate the seven missing persons continue.
"Our priority is assisting with the ongoing search and providing all necessary support to the rescued passengers and crew."
Online charter sites listed the Bayesian as available for rent for up to €195,000 (about £166,339) a week.
