1910 Classic Gentleman’s Commuter yacht
"malago", description.
Simply unique and a piece of history. "Malago" is currently in charter in Palm Beach shuttling the wealthy, much as she would have back in the Gilded Age and Edwardian Era, when she was first built.
Impeccably restored, she is an Elegant Lady with a steel hull and beautifully appointed Teak and Mahogany Salon layout. Fore and aft open air seating areas. Note the original stain glass in the doors. Few vessels can claim to have had such a storied history of more than 110 years, and still be in service.
One of a kind Classic that could not be replicated, this Gentleman's Commuter Yacht offers, (as she always has) an opulent lifestyle for the fortunate few.
Fresh refit with new Yanmar KM2P-1 21hp engine, transmission, and control panel.

Electric marine head
New electronics including Chartplotter and Depth sounder.

39ft. ‘FAIRWIND CLASS’ GENTLEMANS MOTOR CRUISER – 1938 – Fully Restored – Classic Gem – Lying: France
Boat details.
- Description
FAIRWIND CLASS MOTOR CRUISER – LADY CHRISTINA
Built and designed by master boat builder Graham Bunn of Windboats, Wroxham in 1938, an epoch when quality was of the highest standards, LADY CHRISTINA is constructed of the ultimate boat builder’s timber, Burmese Teak on solid 2” English oak timbers and backbone. She recently underwent a complete renovation to bring this fine motor cruiser into the 21st century and had a complete refit with modern systems under the classic look of a true Gentlemen’s cruiser. With her dual position controls and super flying bridge, she is a river cruiser of true and unique pedigree. She is perfect for those isolated getaways and holidays with the family. Her history is rich and adventurous, featuring more recently on Great Canal Journeys hosting Tim & Prunella for a week onboard, having completed multiple channel crossings (visits to the Dutch and Belgian waterways), coastal jaunts to Guernsey and Jersey, she is now lying on the Nantes-Brest canal network in South-west Brittany (can easily be transported anywhere in Europe). Powered with a fully reconditioned BMC marine engine and new Borg Warner gearbox, LADY CHRISTINA is ready for exploration, adventure and delight. LADY CHRISTINA exudes comfort, quality and is pleasing to the eye in every aspect, completely hand crafted and re-configured as part of her restoration, she now offers a Master cabin with a huge 7’6” bed, twin seating and storage, all fabricated in Burmese teak and English Walnut – internally she is a celebration of gorgeous wood grain and hardwood, all accompanied with mood lighting. Adjacent wet-room and separate head with original features and fittings of the highest quality. The saloon with convertible bunks for 2+1 and equipped with multimedia systems (surround sound with dual zone controls) is perfect relaxing and entertainment. The exceptionally comfortable wheelhouse has fantastic all round visibility with the clever use of glass and newly fabricated Burmese teak framing. The fully equipped galley is a delight, fitted out in oak and walnut and Finnish made diesel hob and oven. A lovely “U” shaped seating area invites you in to enjoy the moment as the Captain cooks and presents you with the theatre of dining in style on the river. The forward cabin presents further vintage luxury and flexibility, a twin “V” berth or huge double quarters. Fully heated through-out, with 7 day timer on thermostatic controls and hot water on board for shower and galley. She had a full exterior refresh summer 2021: Complete re-varnish and paint, hull painted and decks re-oiled. She was last lifted (bottom coated) and inspected in 2018 but will be lifted out for any survey at the prospective buyer’s request. LADY CHRISTINA has been fitted out with marine equipment of the highest quality with no expense spared. She is a true head turner, attracting interest everywhere she goes and a real piece of Vintage history and is now waiting for her new custodian.
Currently lying in Brittany, France but she can be easily transported back to the UK (all VAT paid) or further afield in the EU.

Broker's Comments
This truly classic gentlemans Motor yacht is by far the most "interesting" boat I have ever stepped aboard. Built in 1938 the current owners (who by the way are only the third owners in her history) have built up an extensive portfolio tracing her back to her origins. This is a testament to the quality of craftsmanship and materials used. She has been out of the water from July last until January this year for painting/varnishing and replacing foredeck and stern post, lower rudder pintle/nylon bearing anti fouling when she was also surveyed. She can be seen on the "Historic Ships Register number 1933. I find it difficult to describe this amazing vessel and do her justice. She is in original condition retaining most if not all of her original fittings. The current owners live aboard mainly using the spacious saloon and aft cabin areas. Fwd of the engine room there are crew quarters which are largely original as they is currently used mainly as storage for provisions. There is a little work (varnishing) to be done in the wheelhouse which ought to be finished by the end of May. The owners will also be cleaning out the fwd sections. This is a truly stunning vessel with beautiful lines in superb structural condition, the owner has asked me to point out that there is a little cosmetic work perhaps fwd of the engine room. **Now Reduced to 65K**

Silver Lass (ex Silver Lal) was built by the renown J. A Silver boatyard in Rosneath, Scotland and is part of the Ormidale class of vessels designed by John Bain. She was originally built in 1961 for Mr James Ball Ritchie from the Isle of Man, who went on to fund the RNLI Oakley Class lifeboat based in Ramsey Harbour, although he sadly passed away before it was launched in 1970. The charitable trust set up by his late wife still goes towards funding the lifeboats for the Isle of Man to this day. It was then purchased by Mr Samuel Acton, from Conwy, Wales in 1965 before being purchased by Mr Richard Viney of London in 1969.
It stayed in the ownership of Mr Viney for 40 years, in which time he travelled with the vessel extensively throughout the Mediterranean, West and East and then into the Black sea and up the River Danube. In the later years of his ownership she returned to her permanent mooring on Cadogan Pier, Chelsea in London.
Throughout the entirety of Mr Viney’s ownership, the vessel was serviced and maintained by Ray Harrison who at the time was the overseas marine representative (all non capitals) for L Gardner & Sons, the father of Michael Harrison who owns Gardner Marine today. The vessel was put up for sale in 2008 and the new owner stripped out her tired interior and sent the engines to Gardner Marine for full overhaul. Two years into the restoration, progress came to a halt. Gardner Marine took ownership and embarked on the mammoth task of rebuilding what essentially amounted to an empty hull and a lock-up full of pieces – but a significant chapter of both Gardner Marine and Harrison history.
Please see the restoration section at the bottom of this page for a glimpse of the background of the four-year restoration.
On completion, she was taken back to the Mediterranean in the Summer of 2023 where she had spent so much time all those years ago. After a season of travelling between the Balearics, Sardinia and mainland Italy, the trip culminated with her being part of the Monaco Classic Yacht week where (she can just about be spotted) in the background behind the beautiful Rivas.
