Rent a boat in Lisbon , the capital and largest city of Portugal , and you will have an incredible adventure in a true cosmopolitan center that inspired, through the ages, several painters and writers, from where the first Portuguese caravels and navigation of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries left. A place where history unfolds daily, whether through culture, cuisine, architecture, language or people, but especially through the natural beauty and energy of Lisbon.
Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sea of Palha , the city of Lisbon was built on several hills (those of São Jorge, São Vicente, Sant'Ana, Santo André, Chagas, Santa Catarina and São Roque ), which is why the city has cable cars like the one in Parque das Nações and lifts, like the one named Santa Justa , connecting Baixa Pombalina to Bairro Alto in the historical center of the city.
A boat rental in Lisbon allows you to immerse yourself in Portuguese culture, contemplate these historical monuments and create your own unforgettable memories!

Lisbon offers an array of fantastic sailing destinations for enthusiasts. Sail along the scenic Tagus River , enjoying views of the historic Belém Tower and the majestic 25 de Abril Bridge . Explore the picturesque coastline of Cascais , known for its charming marina and beautiful beaches. Head to the tranquil waters of the Arrábida Natural Park , where you can discover hidden coves and clear waters. Whether you’re looking for vibrant cityscapes or serene natural beauty, Lisbon provides a perfect blend of both for an unforgettable sailing experience.
Regardless of whether your boat charter in Lisbon starts at Doca de Alcântara , Doca de Santo Amaro or Marina Parque das Nações , it is a good idea to start your boat tour in Lisbon at the Natural Reserve of the Tagus Estuary , a little corner full of nature in the heart of the Portuguese capital. This is a good place to breathe some fresh air, observe the seabirds of the region and start your day on the right foot.
Following the Tagus River navigation , one of the first monuments in sight is the Vasco da Gama Bridge , which with its incredible 17km length, adds a touch of urbanism and modernity to picturesque Lisbon.
The best part of a private boat rental is the opportunity to choose and plan your own itinerary, and we know that in Lisbon, the chances of stopping are more than humanly possible. We recommend the National Tile Museum and the National Museum of Ancient Art , to admire a little of the Portuguese contribution to the artistic world, the National Sanctuary of Christ the King , the Monument of the Discoveries to admire the incredible panorama, the beautiful Monastery of Jerónimos and of course, the indispensable Tower of Belém , probably the most famous monument in Portugal . We can already see that the Tagus River is really the soul of Lisbon!
For those looking for fun on the beach with family and friends, the Portuguese capital also offers beautiful walks, such as Praia da Torre , for example. But if you want more beach options, a boat can take you to Cascais , to the charming beaches of Guincho , Rainha , Conceição and São Pedro de Estoril , where you can spend the day in the Atlantic sun, before returning to Lisbon.
If you wish to visit other regions, we suggest you rent a boat and go to Sesimbra and Setúbal , paradise corners of Portugal , near the Arrábida Natural Park , where some of the best beaches in the country are kept, such as Galapinhos Beach , Portinho da Arrábida and the Troia Peninsula , golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters to make your summer dreams come true!
To close the day, we suggest returning to the Tagus River to watch the famous Lisbon sunset in the privacy of your own boat deck!

During this period, the weather is warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), making it ideal for sailing. Sea conditions are generally calm, and there is less chance of rain, ensuring a pleasant boating experience. Lisbon is the beautiful capital city of Portugal that is a dream holiday destination for various types of travellers. If you like to explore exciting cities with plenty of cafés and restaurants or go on a sailing adventure, Lisbon is definitely the ideal choice. Given it’s geographic location on the Atlantic coast it became a popular sailing destination over the years.
Rent a boat in Lisbon and explore the hidden gems of the Atlantic coast, discover the Belém Tower, the Ponte 25 de Abril Bridge or admire the famous Catholic monument of the National Sanctuary of Christ the King. There is definitely something for everyone in Lisbon that can fill up a memorable holiday for the whole family or a group of friends.
The price of renting a boat in Lisbon is depending on many factors. Firstly, the time of the year will naturally dictate the price. The more tourists are in the area the higher the prices will be. In Lisbon the high season is during summer time, so expect to find the highest prices then and the most tourists in the city. If you plan to charter a yacht in Lisbon, expect to pay around 200€/day for a sailboat and 400€/day for a catamaran.
If you rather rent a motor boat, the price will depend on the size and type of boat you like. We recommend planning in advance to know what kind of boat will be suitable for your activities. You need to rent a different boat if you plan to do water sports or go on a day trip along the coast to discover the region. But surely you will find the best that will make your holiday filled with new experiences and memories with your friends or family.
Lisbon is a very famous and popular holiday destination that makes it very easy to rent a boat as there is a huge selection available. We highly recommend booking a boat months before your holiday especially if you’d like to charter a yacht. If you wish to rent a motor boat for a day it is still advised to do a few weeks of month before to avoid any unpleasant surprises and shortage in boat availability. The high season in the area is during summer, so expect to find the most tourists then. If you would like to avoid the crowds in the city and wish to visit Lisbon when it’s calmer, we recommend visiting in spring or autumn. The weather is still mild and sunny, so perfect for sightseeing and sailing and the added benefit is the less tourists.
If you rent a boat in Lisbon you will need to have a valid boating license with you no matter the type and size of the boat. It means that both for sailboats and motor boats, valid documentation is needed. If your boating license is issued by any EU Member States it will be automatically accepted in Portugal. However, you don’t worry if you don’t have the required documents or just don’t feel comfortable renting a bareboat, most of the boats are available to rent with a skipper. If you want a stress free vacation, this is the best option. Having a skipper means that they have the technical knowledge to control the boat and the local knowledge from the area. The only thing you are left with is to sit back and enjoy your holiday! Your Lisbon trip will become an unforgettable holiday experience for sure!
Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal located on the Atlantic coast. It is not only the capital city but also the biggest city in the country. Lisbon is the westernmost capital city in Europe and the only on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon is a very popular holiday destination that receives millions of tourists each year. The city is well known for the tons of stunning landscapes, the vibrant nightlife, excellent Portugese cuisine, the colourful tiles and the famous tramway across the city. If you're looking for nearby destinations, you'll easily have acess to nearby cities that are just as charming. Sail your boat to Algarve , a charming region just south of Lisbon. Here in Algarve, one of the most famous spots for sailing is Faro. You can either sail directly here or rent a boat in Porto and get to know the coast from a different perspective.
Thankfully Lisbon is a perfectly walkable city with every important attraction nearby, so that makes the city very easy to be discovered. However, you should definitely try out the famous tram that goes around the city as it is a very unique and special experience. Hop on at one attraction and travel to the next one with the tram. Keep in mind that during the busiest months the trams are very crowded and might be difficult to get on, but definitely worth waiting for it.

And there are many other attractions in the city that are worth visiting! Don’t miss out on trying the Pastel de Nata which is a famous and delicious dessert in the region.
