The Alubat shipyard has been building aluminum boats since 1973. The Ovni 395, an aluminium lifting-keel cruiser, designed by Philippe Briand and built in France by Chantier Alubat, is the most popular edition to date and is a solid and well proven cruiser.

With its modern and beautiful design, solid hull, powerful rig and lifting keel, this is a fantastic boat suitable for sailing in all kinds of weather! The optimal boat for circumnavigation and blue water cruising, but also suitable for short trips with family and friends aboard.

This boat is delivered to the "Nordic standard" specifications which include, among other things, an insulated hull, four different heat sources, and many other details and extras that are not standard when delivering Ovni to buyers elsewhere in the world. Resulting in a dry and comfortable boat!

She is in very good condition with little wear and has been very well take care of by her two owners, both Norwegian, since she was delivered from the shipyard in Brittany - France in 2007. She was bought by the current owner in autumn 2014.

She is well equipped with a large sailing wardrobe, masthead type rigging and mast steps, a specially designed Orust type wind screen, radar, AIS and everything you need in terms of electronics, windmill and solar panel, life raft, dingy, washing machine etc.

2 cabins in addition to a large technical room with room for technical equipment, storage of sails etc. Master cabin forward with large V-shaped double berth. Guest cabin port side aft with double berth. In addition, it is possible to have 3 berths in the saloon. In total, 7 people can sleep comfortable on board. Large technical/ stow room aft with entrance from the toilet and through an external hatch in the cockpit.

Registered in NOR/NIS. Norwegian VAT paid. EU VAT not paid.

Large and safe cockpit with fixed windscreen, targa and practical bathing platform. Plenty of room and easy access to whatever you need. The characteristic targa bar aft is suitable for mounting various equipment, and can function as a davit for an inflatable boat.

Light and spacious saloon with good height under deck, approx 2 metres. Furnishing in light wood in good condition. Large folding table and sofa on starboard and port side. Good seating for 8 people around the table. In the middle, towards the bow, there is a diesel stove that heats up well.

The boat has all the special and good features of a centerboard sailboat from Alubat , with a strong and robust aluminum hull, retractable swing keel, folding rudder, solid masthead type rig, very good sea characteristics and stability as well as other construction details that make her particularly well suited for sea and coastal sailing. With the keel inside and the rudder folded up, she floats at just under 60 cm, which enables dry docking and access to shallow areas. Ovnis can be sailed with the keel raised without affecting stability.

Volvo Penta D2 55 HP, 2980 hours. Fixed propeller on shaft. Diesel tank 250 litres, meaning she can cover approx. 600 nm on a tank. There is also plenty of water on board for longer voyages, with a water tank of 430 l.

ALUBATS’s experience in centreboarders and the Mortain/Mavrikios and CBA design offices reputation bring together a fantastic model in terms of comfort and performances. Upwind or downwind, on long trips or just coastal cruising, the OVNI 370 will satisfy the most demanding of skippers.

Building on our experience and expertise in blue water sailing yachts, we have collaborated with the MORTAIN & MAVRIKIOS and CBA agencies to upgrade the OVNI 400 to the OVNI 430.

The OVNI 450 is the new version of the OVNI 445, of which already 46 units have been built since the first one in 2008.

With her pilot house and her deck saloon, the OVNI 490 will take you very far on the seas.

These constructions require a great capacity for adaptation and quality finishes that the shipyard reveals in each of its units produced.

Owner’s Remarks: An OVNI had long been the boat I wanted.  They had a great reputation as a bulletproof, go-anywhere, aluminium ocean cruiser that were strong and would eat up the miles in comfort. Many have circumnavigated. They have been into the ice and up the Amazon, will sit on a beach and will float in 60cm of water. They are very sea kindly, the perfect replacement for my much loved Contessa 32. Jimmy Cornell (founder of the ARC rally) had an OVNI 43. If they were good enough for him they would be good enough for me.

‘Greyling’ is a British flagged OVNI 36 (39ft LOA), built in 2001 by Alubat in France. She is well equipped for long distance ocean voyaging, having 2 X 43W solar panels as well as a Rutland 914 wind generator and a 90A alternator (2016) and is largely self sufficient for power while at sea. She has an NKE electronic autopilot as well as Pacific Windpilot windvane self steering. She has AIS and a Merveille radar detector, indispensable for the single hander.

New equipment in 2015 included new standing rigging, a new sprayhood and matching stackpack, new windlass motor and new bank of 90A batteries. This year a TekTank 40 litre holding tank was fitted, a requirement for the Baltic and the Eastern USA waterways, along with new AIS antenna. To help reduce power demand, she has also had LEDs fitted in the cabins and the navigation and masthead lights are LEDs. Instruments include  Furuno radar/plotter, Navicom VHF radio, and NKE cockpit repeater.

In 2011 she had a new genoa and mainsail by X-Voiles (France) along with spinnaker with sock (unused) . She has a hank-on staysail and storm jib and removable self-tacking inner forestay. The previous sails are serviceable and in good condition. Ground tackle is a 16Kg Delta on 60m of 10mm chain and a Fortress kedge with 40m of 10mm chain. Electric windlass is a Lofrans Cayman 1000W with remote control.

Other equipment available includes a Standard Horizon CP300i chartplotter and AIS overlay, with charts of the European Atlantic Coast including the Azores and Greenland, a 2.6m dinghy with Evinrude 4hp outboard, and Ocean Signal EPIRB. Jordan series drogue (2016)
