Contessa 28 - Yachting Monthly
Contessa 28. This Doug Peterson design was a reasonably sharp performer on the club circuit, which could also do duty as a safe, manageable and docile family cruiser. Slightly heavy steering and an awkward interior prevented her becoming as successful as some of her sisters.

The Contessa 28 is a 27.67 ft (8.43 m) masthead sloop that has a reputation for being fast, seaworthy and well-balanced. It is a moderate displacement sailboat that is slightly underpowered, but very stable and stiff, with a good righting capability if capsized.

Contessa 28? - YBW Forum
Many years ago, I used to crew on a Contessa 28 in club races. She was a good solid boat that sailed well. She was reasonably competitive but not tender so would make a good fast cruiser. We took her across the channel with 5 or 6 (I think) on board and she handled the Force 6/7 crossing well.
What is it about Contessa 28's? - YBW Forum
Contessa 28 was a Doug Peterson design and although not a racing boat was of the IOR type. If memory serves there was some story about floors needing strenghtened on a few but I don't think that there were really any serious problems.

Information about Contessa 28, Please Help - Cruisers ...
There is a lot of information on 26's and 32's but almost nothing on CO28. I admit we are smitten with this boat and its size. And kind of wanting to upgrade from the ensign 22 for a while now. All the published numbers are pointing to a good pedigree and medium to a fast performance.
