Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 preview: 29 of the best new boats to track down

  • Top stories

Next week's Cannes Yachting Festival will see hundreds of motoryachts and speedboats converge on the Cote d'Azur - we pick out 29 that are truly unmissable...

Of all the events in the marine calendar, Cannes Yachting Festival is arguably the pinnacle. As Europe’s biggest on-water boat show, there is nowhere else where you can quickly compare the latest offerings from the world’s biggest manufacturers.

However, with that sheer scale comes a problem – how do you manage to fit all those boats into your itinerary? Well that’s where MBY comes in…

We’ve picked through the vast line-up to select the 28 new boats that should be at the very top of your list.

Best new boats at Cannes Yachting Festival 2023

apreamare-gozzo-35-speedster-cannes-yachting-festival-2023-Gozzo 35 speedsteer (64)

Apreamare Gozzo 35 Speedster

Apreamare’s appealingly tubby designs based on traditional Sorrento fishing boats have always looked like heavy, stolid displacement craft, but beneath the waterline their hard-chine, medium-V underwater shapes, with a long planing run extending beneath the aft platform, have offered sprightly handling and a surprising turn of speed.

And now that huge outboard engines seem to be the go-to power source for anything under about 40 feet, they can offer serious performance too.

Based on the existing Gozzo 35 design, the new Gozzo 35 Speedster model comes as standard with two Mercury V10s bolted to the stern, which not only give a 42-knot top speed, but more importantly offer a useful cruising range of 300 nautical miles or so at 30 knots.

Looking for somewhere to stay near Cannes Boat Show? Look no further…

Making its European debut at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, this 42ft flybridge is the latest model from multihull specialist Aquila Power Catamarans.

Designed by VPLP and Category A certified for offshore cruising, the Aquila 42 will come in a wide variety of layout options to suit all tastes.

Further details are being kept under wraps for now, but key features include direct access from the flybridge to the foredeck, which is inherited from its bigger sister, the Aquila 54 .

In spite of its volume, this 96ft superyacht will hit 24-knots

Arcadia A96

The newest member of Arcadia’s A line, the Arcadia A96 is a custom yacht not just in terms of its style, features, equipment and fit-out but also in terms of its contemporary approach.

Spurred by changing appetites in a post-Covid world, Arcadia has put peace of mind and mental wellbeing at the very core of its A96 design.

In essence, this superyacht has been conceived as a restorative sanctuary that enables you to get yourself back in shape and the layout very much reflects that.

Sliding glass panels on the main and upper decks enable you to open up the side and aft bulkheads, creating vast open-air spaces and inviting in the sounds and smells of the sea.

Azimut Magellano 60

Although the new Azimut Magellano 60 is the smallest model in the line, the DNA of this fourth boat is unmistakable.

Designed in collaboration with Ken Freivokh, there’s a linear, fuss-free elegance to the Azimut Magellano 60 that looks quite modest and classical. It features unbroken wraparound glass, long hull windows and a set of parallel teak louvres on the aft pilothouse pillars. And there’s plenty of overlap in application as well as appearance.

Created for owners who love long voyages, the new 60 is built on Azimut’s second-generation dual-mode hull – a semi-planing hull with a vertical bow, which claims to deliver significantly reduced fuel consumption at cruising speeds than comparable shaft-driven flybridge cruisers.

And those long-distance credentials are backed up on board with an interior optimised for comfortable cruising. Down below, the full-beam owner’s suite sidesteps avant garde edginess in favour of warm restful tones and softly textured fabrics.

Beneteau Antares 12

The latest incarnation of this popular family flybridge cruiser has a practical three-cabin, two-heads layout down below, a spacious deck saloon with a converting sofa – so you can sleep eight – and three outdoor relaxation areas.

On-deck features include a fold-down bulwark on the starboard side of the cockpit for a welcome bit of extra space, an adjustable backrest on the foredeck sunpad, and a smart asymmetric superstructure design to provide a nice wide side deck along the starboard side to link the cockpit with the bow seating area.

There is also a three-part folding cockpit door to completely open up the saloon, while flybridge has forward-facing seats for three, along with a good-size U-shaped sofa with table.

Downstairs, the owner’s cabin in the bows has an ensuite head, while the two guest cabins lie amidships, tucked under the saloon sole, sharing the day head and shower compartment on the starboard side. The port guest cabin has permanent twin berths, while the one to starboard has a single that converts to a double.

Benetti Oasis 34m

Bennetti’s Oasis 40m has proved to be a smash hit for the Azimut group’s superyacht brand and it’s hoping to repeat that success at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival with the launch of a new smaller sister, the Benetti Oasis 34m.

With exterior styling by British studio, RWD, and interior design by New York-based architects, Bonetti/Kozerski, the Benetti Oasis 34m follows closely in the footsteps of the Oasis 40m.

Like its big sister, it adopts a clear commitment to informal conviviality, big views and a close connection with the sea – and at the heart of that concept sits Benetti’s ‘Oasis Deck’.

It all revolves around a dramatic infinity pool, set low in the centre of the transom with a glass aft bulkhead. Sunbeds orbit the pool’s forward edge leading to a large open cockpit with drop down bulwarks.

The BGM75 features exterior styling from Zuccon International

Bluegame BGM75

Bluegame is keen to stress that its debut motor cat is not so much a part of the multihull market as the pioneer for a parallel category. In fact, as parent company, Sanlorenzo, puts it, the BGM75 is “first and foremost a luxurious, beautiful motor yacht that ‘by chance’ has not one hull but two”.

And when you look at the design, you can see what they mean. The key here is the modest beam. At 26ft 7in, it measures just over a third of the overall length, which falls somewhere between that of a cat and a monohull.

At a stroke, that helps sidestep the traditional squared-off boxiness of the classical catamaran – and when you also factor in the new boat’s forward taper, it actually bears an uncanny resemblance to the established BGX70 and BG72.

centounonavi-vespro-cannes-yachting-festival-2023-1

Centounonavi Vespro

Centounonavi is a new name, but one that comes with plenty of heritage – co-founder and naval architect Marco Arnaboldi is the son of Angelo, a renowned designer and boatbuilder and the man behind custom boatbuilder AB Yachts.

Centounonavi (literally ‘one hundred and one boats’) is based in the epicentre of Italian boatbuilding, Viareggio. The company’s first model is a slick-looking 55-footer with plenty of horsepower and an eye-watering top speed.

But it’s no mere mindless muscleboat, according to its creators: waterjet drives are less likely than conventional propellers to make sushi out of passing marine creatures, while much of the PVC cores used in its lightweight construction, along with other, unspecified aspects of the build, are sourced from recycled materials.

Also, an efficient hull design means that at its extraordinary cruising speed of 50 knots it burns “only” eight litres of diesel per mile.

The new R+ looks like a coupé-equipped evolution of the established R6

With its enclosed coupé structure, the new R+ might seem like a departure for day boating specialist, Evo, but this latest Valerio Rivellini design feels very much like an evolution of the brand’s established R6.

The custom aft platform, designed for Evo Yachts by Besenzoni, is a central part of that. You can lift it up for easy embarkation from an elevated pontoon, lower it to water level for a larger beach area, or drop it beneath the waterline for watersports or tender use.

The Evo R+ will also feature a convertible dinette with a transverse wet bar aft and a raised island sunbed forward, as well as weekending accommodation for four people in two double berths.

Extra Yacht X99 Fast

With naval architecture by Palumbo Superyachts, exteriors by Guida Design and interiors by Luca Dini, Extra Yachts describes the style of its new X99 Fast as “modern Mediterranean flair” and that translates into a layout that majors on alfresco entertainment.

The 75m² aft deck features an unusual semi-external dining zone, which straddles the internal saloon and the expandable open-air cockpit, with an extendable 12-man table and a well placed multi-purpose bar area.

From here, another pair of convivial zones slope down towards the sea – a lounge area with low-slung settees and fold down balconies, and a spacious aft sunpad perched above a big swim platform.

Greenline 58 Fly

Greenline’s 58 Fly is finally ready to hit the water, and it’s particularly vital for the Slovenian yard because it’s the perfect size to bridge the gap between the 48 Fly and the flagship 68 Ocean Class.

As you would expect, it follows Greenline’s proven formula, with its ability to collect and store electrical energy from the sun, from shore power and (in hybrid form) from the diesel engines.

But it also exhibits a range of modern design touches that will go down very well with visitors to the show. In line with the latest trends, the cockpit seating faces across the beam rather than forward, enabling you to retain a view through a glass balustrade.

cannes-yachting-festival-2023-MBY289.newboat_10.LEO3215

Leopard 40PC

Having enjoyed a lot of success with its award-winning 46PC and 53PC models, Leopard is set to introduce a new, more accessible boat to its power cat fleet. And despite the fact that smaller, shorter cats are more sensitive to weight and trim, the leisure potential of the new boat looks impressive.

In addition to a pair of ensuite port doubles, the lower decks feature an open-plan owner’s cabin to starboard, with a forward bathroom, a central dressing area and excellent natural light through those big hull windows.

Up on the main deck, ahead of the beamy cockpit, the aft end of the saloon is split into a large L-shaped port galley and a starboard fridge and storage unit. The companionway runs between them, taking you forward to a brilliantly sociable helm, with a big port lounge, great all-round views and easy access to the foredeck sun loungers through the forward saloon door.

Leopard also talks about “the largest flybridge ever seen on a 40-footer” – but while that might sound a bit far-fetched, there’s no doubting the space that such a massive beam creates.

cannes-yachting-festival-2023-MBY289.newboat_3.B4

Originally introduced as the 420 but since renamed to better express its length and volume, Marex’s new flagship cruiser looks like a really impressive boat. At the aft end, a secure enclosed cockpit with an all-weather canopy system enables you to shut out the elements for year-round use.

When specced with cockpit bar stools, an enormous C-shaped galley at the aft end of the saloon helps keep the inside and outside spaces beautifully integrated too. In ‘Scandinavia’ rather than ‘Gourmet Cruiser’ form, there is also the option of a smaller starboard galley, plus a larger port dining area for extra indoor seating but in all cases, the 440 is designed to deliver the cruising experience of a much bigger boat.

To that end, you get integrated aft-facing box seats at the swim platform for summer fun. You get a two- or three-cabin layout, each with two bathrooms. You get easy side deck access for the skipper. And in terms of propulsion, you can pick between D6 440s with sterndrives, D6 480s with IPS drives or D6 480s with V drives.

Pershing-GTX116-side-view

Pershing GTX116

Pershing launched its most radical new boat in years back in February and it will be getting its global debut at Cannes before heading onto the Monaco show. The Pershing GTX116 is best classified as a sportfly, although the futuristic styling and unusual layout suggest a crossover label may be more appropriate…

The Pershing GTX116 certainly has a very different look to the 50-knot sportscruisers we’re used to seeing from Pershing, with a near vertical windscreen positioned much further forward than usual and a snub-nosed bow like the flagship Pershing 140.

The stern is also quite different with a trio of terraces that cascade down to sea level culminating in a pair of transom doors that swing up and out to create a beach club effect. This cab-forward design frees up space for a much more even split between indoor and outdoor entertaining zones.

Prestige F4

Measuring 49ft 9in (15.18m) with a maximum beam of 14ft 9in (4.49m), the Prestige F4 is similar in size to the outgoing Prestige 520 but features a new Michael Peters hull with a deeper vee and a fuller, higher bow, said to offer ‘unparalleled stability, efficiency and comfort in navigation’.

However, the biggest changes are saved for the interior and exterior spaces, where a number of innovative ideas, layouts and materials are being used to try and lift Prestige further away from its mainstream market origins.

This starts at the stern where twin staircases lead up from the optional hydraulic bathing platform to a cockpit with freestanding furniture that can be arranged in a conventional L-shape or facing each other across the beam to enjoy the views out.

The new Princess Y80 is based on the X80’s hull but swaps the enclosed upper deck for a big open flybridge

Princess Y80

Enjoying its world premiere in Cannes will be a fourth entry in Princess’s Y Line range of flybridge motor yachts – and if the award-winning Y72, Y85 and Y95 are all about space, luxury and custom-friendly options, the new Y80 looks certain to follow suit.

It adopts a classically understated style, which closely echoes the established Y Class formula, with a continuous window line and an ‘S’ shaped hardtop connecting the flybridge to the main deck.

Outdoor entertaining also remains a priority and to help with that, there are three alternative cockpit designs: a traditional U-shaped dining layout with extra storage; a central cockpit table with seating for eight; and Princess’s ultra-slick ‘Infinity Cockpit’ arrangement.

Practicality is ramped up with a T-top, suspension seats, a bow tent and a 500-litre tank

RAND Roamer 28

The closely guarded Rand Roamer 28 is designed to marry the brand’s trademark style, sustainability and simplicity with genuine adventure boat credentials.

To that end, it uses a stainless steel and hardened glass T-top with a carbon-fibre roof and full-closing canvases to enable proper four-season protection.

The Rand Roamer 28 also comes with a 144W solar panel on the roof, plus a 500-litre fuel tank for long-distance cruising.

There’s a big roof rack for all your toys plus a toilet in the console and an aft seat that can be turned into a full wet bar with sink and cooker.

The jauntily named Riva 82 Diva is all about big outdoor day spaces

Riva 82 Diva

Riva’s latest yacht, the Riva 82 Diva, is designed to deliver “endless outdoor space.” It attempts that by means of a stern beach club with drop-down terraces that increase the width by 3m. Forward of that, the raised cockpit with its “sea-view” sofa design, encompasses a further 35m² of outdoor space.

And up on the flybridge, another 40m² enables each living area to enjoy its own distinct zone, with a lounge aft, a sunbathing area forward and an extra lounge with dinette and bar in the centre.

The saloon takes a similar approach to zonal arrangements, putting the lower living space and the raised dining area on different levels to help delineate each region without physically separating them.

Riviera 505 SUV

Making its European debut at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, the Australian-built Riviera 505 SUV was designed with active boaters in mind, its spacious, low-level cockpit and two-part aft platform providing the necessary working area for fishing and diving.

Meanwhile the fridge, freezer and grill installed down there make it easy to mix the cocktails and cook the catch.

Of course you don’t have to be active all the time – the section of the main deck between the cockpit and saloon provides a comfortable, sheltered outdoor area from which to watch others doing all the hard work, while the sunbed on the foredeck, complete with hinged backrest, will be ideal when the effort of merely watching gets too much.

cannes-yachting-festival-2023-Sanlorenzo-SX100-1-2

Sanlorenzo SX100

Where Sanlorenzo’s SP110 showed the influence of radical Bluegame design thinking in its low aft saloon and two-storey atrium, the new SX100 goes the whole hog with bold superstructure styling that is clearly another conscious homage to its sister Sanlorenzo brand.

A two-decker with several layout options, including a three- or four-cabin lower-deck layout, the Sanlorenzo SX100 retains the SP110’s superb stern arrangement, where you descend from the broad cockpit into a low-level space that can be fitted out as either a secluded, waterline saloon or as a master suite .

In either case, the bulwarks fold down to let light in from the sides as well as aft.

Ascend via the other cockpit companionway and you find yourself up on the main deck, with its spacious midships seating area and the option of a spectacular cabin forward, which could serve as either a VIP or master, or a bright open-plan dining area with excellent views on three sides.

cannes-yachting-festival-2023-MBY289.newboat_8.Saxdor_400_GTO

Saxdor 400 GTO

Finnish powerboat builder, Saxdor, is set to unveil a new flagship for its range of sporting weekenders. And having already captured the public’s imagination with a fleet of boats that has sold more than 1,000 units since 2019, the Saxdor 400 GTO looks set to take things to a fresh level.

As you would expect, the new boat is built on an upscaled version of the 320 hull with twin steps, a plumb bow and a sleek adventure aesthetic. As you might also expect, it’s designed for use with a twin outboard rig and constructed with vacuum infusion techniques for reduced weight and improved running efficiency.

The extra scale also looks well used for a good size of forward double cabin with standing headroom in excess of 6ft, plus a separate bathroom and an optional midships double.

But it’s the layout of the cockpit that really makes a splash. Instead of sacrificing space to walkaround side decks, Saxdor has pushed the furniture and hard top out across the full beam of the boat and added a door in the port corner of the windscreen to give access to the foredeck lounge.

Fold-down balconies on both sides that stretch all the way forward to the back of the helm seats come as standard and help turn the cockpit into an even bigger sheltered outdoor party zone in a matter of seconds.

SILENT-62-3deck---open-version4

The improved Silent 62 is based on the successful 60 model

Austrian shipyard, Silent Yachts, has taken its best-selling Silent 60, added 2ft and replaced the traditional flybridge with a larger, more practical third deck. Designed to combine the “superyacht flair” of Silent’s 80ft flagship with the compact dimensions of the 60, that upper deck comes in three configurations – a closed skylounge, a closed owner´s suite or an open sky lounge (pictured).

That open variant features a U-shaped galley with bar, a central dining table for ten, lots of casual seating around the deck’s edge, and a huge raised sunbathing zone at the stern. With lightweight carbon-fibre construction and a cruise-friendly draft of just 1m, this eight-berth boat is designed to be operated with the utmost ease by just two people.

It comes with 42 solar panels rated to 17 kWp, alongside a 286 kWh battery bank and a choice of e-motors from 50-340kW. According to Silent, that should enable the 62 to cruise up to 100 miles per day on the sun alone, while also running your various onboard systems without recourse to a generator.

cannes-yachting-festival-2023-MBY289.newboat_9.1

Turkish yard, Sirena Marine, is set to introduce a new boat at the entry point to its award-winning fleet of liveaboard cruisers. Designed to enable a whole range of applications, from day boating and long weekends away to extended family cruises, the whole idea behind the new model is to transfer Sirena’s traditional big-boat versatility into a more compact package.

To that end, the 48, which actually measures 52ft 4in in length, provides a claimed 25% more usable volume than its competitors. If the vertical bow and windscreen help with that, so does the flybridge, which overhangs the side decks and aft cockpit, creating lots of space up top as well as extra shelter below.

Up on the flybridge, that space is divided into two parts: a huge forward sunbed that enables the helm to remain involved in the party; and a full-beam dining station aft with direct access to the transverse wet bar that butts up against the helm seats.

It’s quite a simplistic design but it makes good use of the space – and the main deck saloon adopts a similar approach. It’s arranged over two levels, with a sociable aft galley, a starboard helm with side door and a port lounge that stops a little short to generate extra volume below.

The deck layout is one of the most appealing we’ve seen on a boat this size

Solaris Power 52

Having launched two new smaller models in the wake of its original 48ft Open, Solaris Power is now working its way up the range, starting with this new Solaris Power 52 Open.

As with previous models, Solaris claims its tear-drop-shaped footprint – with a heavily flared vertical bow and deep vee aft sections – delivers an unusually dry, stable, comfortable ride while also creating more space above and below deck for guests.

We’ll have to wait for a sea trial to confirm the seakeeping claims but these early renderings certainly show a big, beamy cockpit with full walkaround decks leading to a generous foredeck lounge.

The designers have put the space to good use, giving owners the choice between three separate cockpit layouts. The first one features the usual pair of straight sofas facing each other across a teak dining table with a big outdoor galley forward.

Sunreef 80 Power Eco

If you like the idea of free, renewable energy but don’t like sails, Sunreef would love to have a word. The Polish shipyard’s newest power cat is this Sunreef 80 Power Eco, available in both hybrid and pure electric versions, that positively bristles with solar panels.

These produce a claimed maximum of 36kWp in bright sunshine, although with many of the solar panels mounted along the sides, that figure will only be achievable if the sun can be persuaded to shine on both sides at the same time.

So it might occasionally be necessary to top up the batteries using the generators. The batteries themselves are ‘ultralight’, with an energy density of around 200Wh per kilogramme, and you can choose between 360kW and 720kW of motive power.

Wally-WHY150-cannes-yachting-festival-2023

Wally WHY150

Created in collaboration with Studio Vallicelli, the new Wally WHY150 uses a raised pilothouse design to create what it calls “unparalleled exterior spaces” – but that approach also has a very striking impact on the inside.

In the main deck saloon, floor-to-ceiling glass is paired with flush decking and more than 8ft of headroom to create a profound sense of openness and light.

The absence of a lower helm also frees up the space for a main deck owner’s cabin, which takes full advantage of the Wally WHY150’s elevated bow and wraparound glazing for 270-degree views from the bed.

That’s supplemented on the lower deck with either three guest cabins (a VIP, a double and a twin) or a pair of larger, more decadent VIP suites.

This 50-knot adventure boat is the biggest and most versatile Wellcraft yet

Wellcraft 435

Coming hot on the heels of the adventure-ready Wellcraft 355, the new Wellcraft 435 is not just the biggest Wellcraft ever, but also the most versatile.

There’s plenty of space on the aft deck thanks to a large bathing platform and a cockpit with fold-down bulwarks on both sides, and the big foredeck lounge provides a handy alternative drinks venue.

With its plumb bow, forward raked windscreen, substantial freeboard and elevated all-round guardrails, there’s plenty of security here, as well as volume. And visibility looks good too, thanks to 360° glazing, plus a starboard side door and an overhead sunroof.

Windy 40 Camira RS

Windy’s 39 Camira was much admired during its seven-year production run so it’s no surprise to see the Camira name being resurrected at Cannes. The new 40 Camira RS will tread much the same path as the 39 but it will do so with uprated styling, a revamped helm, an open-plan lower deck and the option of outboard power.

In terms of deck layout, the port wet bar is replaced with an aft-facing chaise longue and the cockpit is made more practical thanks to an optional sunroof-equipped T-Top.

As the flagship of Windy’s sportscruiser line, you can still opt for a pair of 400hp or 440hp Volvo Penta D6s on sterndrives, but the Camira RS also comes with twin Yamaha 425 XTOs or triple Yamaha F300 petrol outboards for speeds in the region of 45 knots.

Things have changed down below too. While the single or twin mid cabin stays the same, a new open-plan layout sees the traditional forward cabin ousted in favour of a convertible U-shaped dinette with the option of a much larger galley to port.

French boatbuilder Catana has been in the business for more than 40 years, with 1,300 employees on five sites. The yard is best known for its sailing catamarans , and until now, by its own admission, its powercat models have tended to look like all the others but with the masts taken off.

Now with new designs and a new brand, the yard has decided to get serious about powercats. The redoubtable J&J Design has been entrusted with design and development of the new range.

The YOT 36 is a beamy, fast, two-cabin, two head sports cruising catamaran offered with a choice of V6 or V8 Mercury outboards that promise an impressively sporty top speed.

A Spectacular Start to Show Season: Cannes Yachting Festival 2023

By Frances Flannagan

Kicking off the yacht show season, Cannes Yachting Festival is set to return from the 12th-17th of September for its 46th edition. It is a highly celebrated boat show, enjoyed by over 50,000 visitors, with boats ranging from 5 metres to 50 metres on display.

Located on the two luxurious ports of Cannes, the Vieux Port and the Port Canto, the Cannes Yachting Festival has been an industry favourite since 1977. The show offers nearly 650 boats each year, with the biggest actors in the industry and their latest innovations contributing to the unparalleled, eclectic feel of the festival.

Over 600 exhibitors attend the show, from the industry’s most celebrated boat manufacturers to luxury lifestyle brands, meaning that visitors can enjoy the full range of specialities that the industry offers. The exceptional opportunities that Cannes Yachting Festival offers is endless; not only is Port Canto set to be the largest sailing yacht exhibition in the world, there is also the opportunity to speak with leading industry experts at the Palais des Festivals to discover the latest yachting trends and gain an expert insight into industry. Cannes itself is the ultimate luxury destination, with an array of stunning beaches, spectacular shopping opportunities, and breathtaking views and scenery.

New to this year's show is the Small Boat Area; a floating space dedicated to 8m - 11m yachts, highlighting the festival’s exceptional initiative of showcasing a diverse range of yachts to attendees. Alongside this new addition, there are a plethora of exciting areas on offer throughout the festival. The Start-Up Village, located in the heart of the sailing area at Port Canto, is home to intelligent start-ups in the nautical sector offering high added-value services and breakthrough technologies. The festival has created a ‘Green Route’ to highlight the eco-high performance solutions proposed by the exhibitors, a concept introduced to the festival last year. The 'Green Route's' success is evident as it has been brought back for the 2023 show. This feature combined with the festival’s aims to reduce its activities’ environmental impact showcases its dedication to the sustainable future of the nautical industry.

Various debuts are set to attend Cannes Yachting Festival, highlighting its important place in the industry as an event in which new yachts and innovations are showcased for the first time. Amongst these debuts is the new Riva 82 Diva, which marks a new chapter in the reimagined use of space with a flybridge of 40 square metres. The wallywhy150 is another attendee, with a length of 24.1m and an exceptional execution of design, with interior volumes being unparalleled for a yacht of her size, along with a 270 degree view in the owners cabin.

Yachts boasting impressive design features are not the only vessels to be making their debut; the Magellano 60 built by Azimut represents a new vessel that enjoys long voyages at sea in an economical way. Built on the brand's second-generation dual-mode hull, it delivers up to 20 percent less fuel consumption than yachts of a similar size. The range of yachts that attend Cannes Yachting Festival highlight the range of expertise that are showcased: from impeccable design to breakthrough technology.

The festival is bound to be a showstopping start to the yachting show season, and the forty years of experience behind the event set the precedent for another remarkable show at Cannes in September.

"Thanks to the renewed confidence of our exhibitors, this 2023 edition is looking very good with similar forecasts to the previous year, i.e. 600 exhibitors, more than 650 boats and 140 previews." Sylvie Ernoult, Director of the Yachting Festival

Vieux Port, Cannes

12 - 17 Sep 2023

By Katie Scott

Back for its highly anticipated 46th edition, the Cannes Yachting Festival is a staple event for both the yachting and social calendars of Cannes.

Scheduled to run from 12-17 September 2023, this show is one of the leading in-water yacht shows in Europe. The Cannes Yachting Festival attracts around 700 boats each year, which are divided between two iconic marinas; Vieux Port and Port Canto.

Setting itself aside from many other yachting events, the Cannes show offers visitors rare opportunities to indulge in sea trials on various motor yachts and luxury yacht charters , providing a first-hand experience of the yachting lifestyle at its best.

What to expect

Sea level view of Cannes Vieux Port. Motorboats berthed on port side with Cannes settlement visible in background.

Globally renowned for being one of the must-see yachting events of the year, attending the show will naturally introduce visitors to some of the biggest names and yachts on the market. Over 100 models make their global debut at the event each year, in addition to a host of toys and tender displays, showcasing the latest innovative developments in the industry.

Highlights of the 2023 edition will include the new floating exhibition of small boats with sizes ranging between 8 and 12 metres. Relocated from the land-based exhibition area on the Quai Max Laubeuf, organizers of the event have created a new dedicated area in the heart of Vieux Port to showcase the smaller models in a new light.

But with all the spectacular new yachts in the marina, visitors can also get excited about a trip down memory lane, with an incredible collection of vintage boats with the annual Concours D'Elegance display.

Paired perfectly with a vibrant social scene, the popular Cote d'Azur event enhances the already enticing environment with a selection of side attractions and events.

Premium shopping at the Luxury Gallery prepares all charter guests for an indulgent West Mediterranean charter , with a specially curated selection of prestige retailers from fashion, jewelry, real estate and nautical niches.

For inspiration, visitors to the show can witness adrenaline-pumping watersports demonstrations with equipment often found on luxury yacht charter packages. Some of the activities include paddle boarding, Jet skis and flyboarding.

Chartering Cannes

As one of the major highlights adorning the South of France , Cannes is a chartering destination not to be missed.

With social events sprinkled throughout the year at the famous Palais des Festivals, and of course within the marina, there are ample opportunities to see and be seen at some of the most prestigious events in France .

With such esteemed events like the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Cannes Film Festival attracting high demand each year, booking early is always advised for Cannes yacht charters.

What To Expect At The 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival

cannes yachting festival 2023

Each year, the Cannes Yachting Festival marks the end of summer or the beginning of the fall boat show season, depending on how you want to look at it. This year's event begins on September 12th and is the 46th edition of the show which attracts nearly 700 boats. Divided among two marinas this year - Vieux Port and Port Canto - there will be a new segment for smaller yachts this year ranging from 26 to 50-feet.

Several of the new boat brands represented by SI Yachts will have strong participation in this Cannes Yachting Festival highlighting the innovative and trend-setting progressions of each shipyard. While not all of these models will make it to the U.S. for the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in October, it will be a window into the future offerings from some of the most iconic builders in the world.

While we cannot cover every single boat in the show, we are experts on the below models that will be on display. If you are interested in receiving more information, pricing, and availability of any of the below boats, please send us an email at [email protected] or fill out the form on the page.

ABSOLUTE YACHTS ON DISPLAY AT CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL

absolute 52 fly at cannes yachting festival 2023

The luxury flybridge yachts coming out of Italy in the last few years have created fierce competition between the shipyards there, and across the pond in the U.K. Companies like Sunseeker , Azimut , Ferretti , and others continue to invest millions in their equipment, facilities, and designs. Absolute Yachts doesn't produce the sheer volume that say an Azimut-Benetti shipyard does, but their model ranges offer fresh and innovative solutions that subtly enhance your comfort on board. The result has been a strong book of orders, along with the awards to back them up. At this year's Cannes Yachting Festival, you can see:

  • 52 FLY (Featured above)

PARDO YACHTS ON DISPLAY AT CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL

pardo at the cannes yachting festival

SI Yachts has quickly become one of the largest dealers for Pardo Yachts in the country and it's easy to see why. Similar to Van Dutch in style (they're also a sister company at the same shipyard) this is a boat where you can make a statement. Sexy, remarkable lines make Pardo models impossible to miss on the water. The hallmarks of each boat, regardless of which model lines, include elegance, spaciousness, high performance, and the finest interiors. If you haven't set foot on a Pardo, find one at your next boat show.

PRESTIGE YACHTS ON DISPLAY AT CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL

prestige yachts at the cannes festival

The Prestige Yachts brand has always been about creating a 'luxury home on the water' that gives you the same sense of comfort and relaxation as your own. Models like the 590 FLY were a game changer for the French builder, allowing them to create a great value in an exceptional layout that owners could enjoy with multiple guests for weekend trips or longer. Can you imagine if Prestige built a power catamaran and how they would utilize that space? Now you don't have to with the Prestige M-line which will be on display at Cannes with their newest model.

PRINCESS YACHTS ON DISPLAY AT CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL

One of the most dominant and exciting displays at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival has to be that of Princess Yachts . Aside from displaying world-class models like the flagship Y95 and the S72 (above), this will also be the world premiere of the new Y80. The Princess display will be located at Vieux Port right in the heart of Cannes. See these Princess models at the Cannes Yachting Festival:

Cannes 2023: Europe’s largest in-water show opens with over 700 boats on display

Tuesday, September 12th, 2023

Written by: Marine Industry News

Cannes 2023

The Cannes Yachting Festival has opened its gates today (12 September 2023) to welcome visitors from one end of the Croisette to the other.

For six days, at the heart of the French Riviera in the Bay of Cannes, more than 700 vessels ranging from 5 metres to 50 metres are on display from more than 610 exhibitors.

Organisers have promised major debuts and innovative engines for 2023 , with world and European premieres taking place across the site.

Yachts and boats on display span monohulls, multihulls, sailing and motor vessels, including both rigid and semi-rigid hulls, and new or previously owned.

More than 120 boats that have just left their workshops for the first time are being launched on the water to make their world debut during the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival. Alongside them, the areas on land are accommodating equipment suppliers, engine manufacturers, service companies and more.

“Today, Europe’s biggest in-water boat show is opening its doors,” says festival director Sylvie Ernoult. “My team and I are immensely proud to conceive and build a boat show of this scale. This year, we will have the pleasure of welcoming more than 700 boats – a record and a real technical challenge.

“As always, our main objective is to satisfy our customers, serve the marine industry and put on the best event possible for our visitors. We are set on giving each boat, brand, piece of equipment, and innovation the best showcase. I hope that our visitors will find the boat or equipment of their dreams and that the new products our teams are presenting will receive the best welcome.”

The boat show is organised into sectors by type of boat: around 540 motorboats are on display in the Vieux Port, with about 50 small boats starting at 8 metres long showcased in their new area in-water for the first time in a brand-new marina dedicated to them .

Port Canto welcomes the sailing world with 115 boats ranging from 10 to 30 metres, including around 30 new models, as well as the brokerage and charter area, the toys area dedicated to water toys and finally, the startup village, launched in 2021 in partnership with Mer Angels and BNP Paribas Banque Privée, to promote smart startups in the marine sector.

Several activities will take place daily at Port Canto, from Tuesday to Saturday (12-16 September 2023), from 5pm to 7pm, including on-water water toy demonstrations, a buy-one-get-one-free “happy hour” offer on drinks, and musical performances.

The Cannes Yachting Festival welcomes its Green Route back this year to create awareness among visitors of the show’s more eco-minded exhibitors, with more than 60 exhibitors showcasing eco-efficient solutions to reduce the marine industry’s environmental impact on the sea and marine ecosystems. The Green Route can be found in both ports.

Cannes 2024 at the starting line: new highlights on display at the yachting festival

  • Alex Giuzio
  • August 30, 2024

The Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 is just a few days away, scheduled to take place from September 10th to 15th. The Vieux Port and Port Canto will host over 700 boats freshly launched from the most prestigious French and international shipyards. These include the best motor and sailing models, the latest marine equipment and technologies, the most exclusive services, and the brand-new marina dedicated to motorboats up to 13 meters. In the following lines, we preview descriptions and images of the most interesting boats .

” With just fifteen days to go before the opening, we are eager to welcome back our exhibitors and visitors – says Sylvie Ernoult , director of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 – The setup for the event began on August 12th, and everything is progressing well. The docks and stands are finding their final positions to accommodate the boats. As every year, the Cannes Yachting Festival kicks off the season by unveiling a very eclectic offering. We are proud to host nearly 700 boats, including 120 world premieres, and 640 exhibitors. Our visitors will experience the best of the yachting industry: not only the most renowned shipyards and equipment manufacturers but also new entries in the sector showcasing their creations”.

port vieux

As usual, the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 will span both the Vieux Port and Port Canto. On one side, the water will feature 355 new motor units ranging from 12 to 45 meters, along with various equipment manufacturers and service companies related to the boating sector. On the other side, Port Canto will showcase the sailing universe with 120 new units, including monohulls and multihulls, a brokerage area with 45 pre-owned boats over 25 meters, a space dedicated to nautical toys, and the brand-new power boat marina, which will host 175 boats under 13 meters in length.

As shipyards and equipment manufacturers steadily shift towards sustainability, allocating much of their budget to research and development, eco-efficient innovations that are increasingly prevalent in the marine field will be highlighted at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024. These innovations will be showcased through the “ Innovation Route “, which visitors can follow by looking for specific signage.

The premières on display at Cannes 2024

Among the boats on display at Cannes 2024, some will certainly attract more attention than others. One of these is the world premiere of the Zodiac Nautic X10CC, the largest boat ever built by the French shipyard. Its spacious deck allows easy movement on board, regardless of the number of passengers, which can reach up to 20.

Equally noteworthy is the Brabus Shadow 1000 Sun , the fastest motorboat ever built by Brabus Marine. It boasts impressive acceleration and speed thanks to two 4.6-liter Mercury V8 500R racing engines that produce 1,000 horsepower, combined with exceptional handling. This is also a world premiere, making its debut at the Cannes 2024 showcase.

Another absolute debut at Cannes 2024 is the Evo Yachts 4+ , a new 13-meter model that follows the success of the Evo R+. The Italian shipyard reintroduces the closed deck solution for comfortable onboard living in various weather conditions, adding a stylish aluminum hard top. The beach area includes a custom multifunctional aft platform that ensures maximum livability in this zone, and when extended, adds an additional meter to the boat’s length.

For catamaran enthusiasts visiting Cannes 2024, the Lagoon 43 is a must-see. The French shipyard has added an extra opening at the rear of the hulls, providing easier access between the boat and the dock, combining safety and comfort to enhance onboard well-being. The new design of the Lagoon 43 offers generous volumes and larger berths in all cabins, ensuring unprecedented livability for a boat of this size.

Another world premiere in the catamaran segment is the Thira 80 by Fountaine Pajot, a true super yacht featuring innovative spaces not found on other models of this size. It boasts two side cockpits with foldable wings, a beach club that faces entirely towards the sea for enjoying anchorages, and storage areas designed for toys, such as bow lockers for paddleboards. This makes the Thira 80 an eagerly anticipated and innovative addition to the festival.

Among the Italian shipyards present at Cannes 2024, the Ice 53 ST Yachts is a standout. This extremely fast boat, made entirely of carbon, features a conversion kit that allows it to be transformed from a cruising yacht to a racing version in just a few hours. The Ice 53 ST is the result of a robust one-piece construction that ensures a high level of safety, making it a highly anticipated exhibit at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024.

Another highlight is the Sanlorenzo SP92, which combines sleek design and refined performance to offer supreme comfort and ecological responsibility. With a structure designed to reduce environmental impact and maximize energy efficiency, the Sanlorenzo SP92 represents the cutting edge of marine sustainability.

Lastly, Azimut will showcase the Seadeck 7 at Cannes 2024, a hybrid-powered yacht designed for long cruises, fostering an authentic connection with nature and providing an immersive sea experience thanks to its reinvented cockpit. This yacht reduces carbon emissions by up to 40% through innovative technologies.
