• If travelling to Airlie Beach by road, please allow extra time to travel during the wet season (Dec-May) as we occasionally have road closures due to flooding.
• At certain times of the year, rare but ‘dangerous’ jellyfish inhabit these waters and passengers should take care for their own safety. Passengers entering the water do so at their own risk and the owner of the vessel will not be liable for any personal injury, illness, death or any other consequences whatsoever of passengers being stung by jellyfish. To minimise this risk, you will be provided with a full-length protective ‘Snorkel Suit’ to wear whilst swimming and snorkelling during the tour.
• Prosail shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any injury to person or property which is suffered or sustained by any passenger as a result of participating in any of its sailing adventures, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

ARE THERE DRINKS ON THE TOUR?

Broomstick Whitsundays is a BYO vessel, meaning guests can bring their own alcohol onboard (no glass or red wine please). Moreover, filtered drinking water is included throughout the tour, so don’t forget to bring a bottle to refill as much as needed (and save on bottled water waste)! We also have soft drinks and bottled water available for purchase on board and a tab will be kept for payment at the end of the tour.

WHERE CAN I PARK MY CAR?

There is plenty of car parking at Coral Sea Marina for both cars and motorhomes, the cost is around $10 to $12 per day, Pay and display or use the Easy Park App

IS THERE A BATHROOM ONBOARD?

Yes! they have a toilets on the boat for your convenience

I CANT SWIM! CAN I SNORKEL?

 Broomstick Whitsundays provide additional floatation if required. A risk assessment will be done on every guest prior to entering the water. The tender will remain relatively close while in the water and staff members are always on look-out duty. Plus, the reefs we visit are off the beaches, so making way back to the beach should not be too hard.

WHAT BAGS CAN I TAKE?

Unfortunately, large bags and suitcases cannot be taken onboard. Storage services are available at most accommodations. Small day packs are perfect to take on this tour.

There are no private rooms but Broomstick has a mixture of nice clean dorm accommodations single and double bunks. The boat has a nice social atmosphere and plays music at night for guests to relax and have a few drinks. This tour is perfect for the adventure traveller.

Broomstick Whitsundays 3 Day 2 Night  Tour visits Whitehaven Beach for around 4 to 5 hours. During this time you embark on a bush-walk from Tongue Point (northern end of Whitehaven), this walk takes approximately 15 minutes, once at the top you will experience Whitehaven Beach above on the viewing platform. This breathtaking view from here lets you see all 7 km of the beach as well as the world-famous swirling sands that form the inlet

Snorkelling

During your two day tour, you will get at least three opportunities to snorkel the coral-filled bays on the coastal fringes of the islands. Here you can see turtles, Maori wrasse, batfish, parrotfish, clownfish (Nemo) plus plenty more! In most bays, the coral starts close to shore and is easily accessible by the small tender boats. For the non-confident swimmers, there are noodles and flotation devices available for safety.

If you don’t have much luggage (which hopefully you won’t!) we highly recommend walking to the meeting point along the Airlie Beach Boardwalk (Bicentennial Walkway). This runs from Airlie Beach Main Street all the way to Cannonvale and has beautiful views. Please allow 30 minutes from the main street if you do choose to walk.

Alternatively, you can catch a taxi using the 13CABS app, call 13CABS, or use the rank in the main street. If you’re driving, type in ‘Bohemian Raw Café’ and it will take you there. Affectionately named ‘Boho’ by the locals, this is a great spot for morning coffee or breakfast on the day of your departure. Just keep in mind it gets busy so allow enough time

##WHAT NOT TO BRING

Large bags or suitcases. Tote bags, small-medium backpacks or small-medium duffle bags (without wheels) are best.

Sleeping bags or pillows

Plastic bags (can kill our marine life)

Items that can potentially damage our property, such as high heels, nail polish etc.

Glass beer or premixed bottles (bring along cans instead) and red wine (it stains the decks on our boats)

Welcome to the tropics!

Our winter months run from May – September and are usually unbeatable in terms of weather. We recommend a warm coat to shield you from the wind after a snorkel during this time.

Our summer months which run from November – March can be extremely hot and humid with passing thunderstorms.

Our vessels are custom built for the Whitsunday conditions. If weather becomes dangerous our local harbour master will close down the marina and tours will be cancelled (this is not a common occurrence). Please see ‘travel insurance’ below.

Alcohol is BYO (bring your own). Purchase your alcohol before you meet at the Marina – there is no bottle shop at the Marina. We have big eskies with ice (we supply the ice) to help keep your beverages chilled onboard. Please bring an appropriate amount for the duration of your tour and be aware that any glass bottles and red wine are not to be taken on the vessel. It is best to just buy cans.

##SOFT DRINKS, WATER, TEA AND COFFEE

Soft drinks can be purchase on board for $4.00. Cash payment is greatly appreciated.

We have a filtered water tap on board so please bring your own drink bottle.

Tea, coffee & hot chocolate is included however for safety reasons we do not provide tea or coffee while our vessel is sailing or motoring around the islands.

##DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

Food allergies and dietary requirements need to be requested at time of booking. We will do our best to cater to your dietary requirements.

Passengers with anaphylactic allergies/reactions must carry an epi-pen or appropriate medication or you will be refused boarding.

##BAG STORAGE

You can store your luggage at most accommodation locations. Otherwise, you can store it at the Red Cat Adventures office in the main street of Airlie Beach (350 Shute Harbour Road). They offer secure and insured bag storage from $5.

##CAR PARKING

Coral Sea Marina South Village (southern end) has car parking for $10.00 per day. This is cash or card payment. Please ensure you pay when you arrive and correctly display the ticket in your car window for the duration of your tour.

##SEA SICKNESS

Our vessels are well designed for sailing in the Whitsundays. If you do suffer from travel sickness, please come prepared with your own travel sickness medication (this can be purchased before hand from the LiveLife chemist in town – 366 Shute Harbour Road). Our trained crew will assist as much as possible in making you comfortable, but they are legally not allowed to provide you with medication to alleviate the problem.

##SNORKELLING EQUIPMENT

Masks and snorkel hire are inclusive within the price with an exception to prescription masks. These can be hired from Aqua Dive (found at Coral Sea Marina North End).

Most of our snorkelling locations are in calm bays throughout the Whitsunday Islands. Snorkelling life jackets and floating noodles can be provided as snorkelling aids if required, however fins are not provided to help minimise coral damage. Feel free to bring your own snorkelling equipment if you prefer. You may also bring your own fins if you are experienced in the water using them (and do not damage coral while using them).

##STINGERSUITS

Stinger suits/wetsuits are provided free of charge year-round to all guests. The full-length stinger suits will prevent UV exposure and significantly reduce your risk to marine stingers. These are compulsory to wear during certain months of the year.

##TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly encourage all guests travel with travel insurance that includes the following coverage for the following situations: Damaged property, medical emergencies including ambulance cover and travel cancellation and interruption.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

SPECIAL COVID-19 CANCELLATION POLICY: If any passenger cannot make the tour departure date due to Government travel restrictions surrounding COVID-19, Prosail will issue a tour credit to be used within 12 months. Please inform Prosail as soon as you are aware that you cannot make the tour. Proof of travel restriction on the tour departure date may need to be supplied.

Prosail will offer other options, a credit or refund for any cancelled departures due to low numbers or unsafe weather.

For any other cancellations or changes: Cancellations made less than 7 days before departure will result in complete forfeiture of the full price. Day 1: Airlie Beach - Whitsunday Islands  

Days 1 - 3 Meet your crew and fellow passengers at Coral Sea Marina at 9:30 am for your 10 am departure. There is no set itinerary for this tour. Each trip will be planned around the weather conditions, tides and the group's desires. Below is a list of what we could offer and where we could go. Please note that we will always visit Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Lookout, a bush-walk or two, multiple snorkelling locations and of course SAIL. - Lots of sailing (hoping there is wind!) - Up to 4 snorkel sites (we choose the best site and timings based on the weather and tides) - Explore the North and possibly the South end of Whitehaven Beach, visiting two different lookouts (Hill Inlet & South Whitehaven) and enjoying all 7km of silica sands - bush-walk locations ranging from 20 minutes to 3 hours - Sunset beach hangs - In the evenings, chill on deck with our crew and your new mates, have a few drinks, stargaze and then let the calm water gently rock you to sleep.

Whitsunday Island Maxi Sailing Adventure (Departs Airlie Beach)

This is a great way to explore the pristine beaches and stunning coral gardens of the Whitsunday Islands! The tour gives you a full day to relax at the magnificent Whitehaven Beach, walk to famous Hill Inlet Lookout and visit the South Whitehaven lookout. You'll experience up to six snorkelling stops on the coral reefs just at the edge of the islands, and a stop at the amazing outer reef (weather permitting).

Visit Stunning Reefs

The tour will take you over 100km's around these stunning islands. That's 4 days and 3 nights of adventure. Your Maxi Yacht sails faster than other charter yachts. They use wind power so they are environmentally friendly. You'll visit the famous Whitehaven Beach as well as the Northern end of the Whitsundays. This area is considered the best fringing coral reefs in the Whitsundays, especially around Hayman Island, Langford Reef and Mantaray Bay. On this tour, we have time to explore at a relaxed pace, and even visit the outer reef for some of the best snorkelling in the Whitsundays.

Sailing The Boat

The Captain and crew know a lot about the Whitsunday Islands and the Marine Park and they enjoy sharing this if you are interested in learning more. You'll arrive back to the Marina at 3:30pm on the 4th day. Please note, itineraries can change due to the weather, tides and your skipper's professional judgement.

Note: All sailing/diving activities as well as destinations are dependent on good weather and are subject to change at the skipper’s discretion. Our priority is to make sure you have a good time and being out in good weather is important.

Seasonal Produce For Our Meals

Our visitors enjoy meals based on local and seasonal produce. The meals menu changes according to what is available and great eating at different times of the year.

Departs Coral Sea Marina, Airlie Beach at 10am. Returns to the same location on the third day at approximately 3:30pm.

Broomstick departs most Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Please use our Book Now buttons to check the calendar for available departures.

Returns: 3.30pm on day 3

Check-in:  at the office at 350 Shute Harbour Road, Airlie Beach. Check in is available between 10am - 3pm the day before departure or by 8am the day of departure. The friendly staff will take you through a pre-departure briefing and everything you need to know for the trip.

All travellers are required to reconfirm their travel at least 48 hours before departure.

• No large bags or suitcases will be accepted on-board. Luggage can be stored at most accommodation locations or at the Red Cat Adventures shop in Airlie Beach for a small fee
• Accommodation on all boats is made up of single and double beds in open shared dorm style cabins/sections below deck. From April-September our maximum capacity is normally 18-20 guests ensuring all guests have their own bed (unless they would like to share a double). During peak season (October-March) our capacity can reach higher numbers of up to 23-30 (depending on the boat) with sharing of double beds.

When you’re ready to sleep, head down to your chosen beds and cabins and turn in for a pleasant nights rest being gently rocked to sleep by the movement of the ocean.

Today we’re up early with a nice hot cup of tea or coffee while the crew prepare your delicious continental breakfast.

After a pleasant morning sail, it’s time to visit the world famous Whitehaven Beach, with its beautiful white sand and tranquil coastline. Experience first hand why so many visitors rank this as one of the best beaches in the world.

After enjoying a few hours sun and sand on the beach, your crew will take you on an informative guided bush walk through to Hill Inlet lookout. This view is not to be missed as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to view the stunning and intriguing swirling sands that make this place so well known.

After a superb buffet lunch near the beach, its time to get back onboard the boat and continue our adventure to the northern Whitsunday Islands to snorkel some of the best reefs in the world - full of beautiful and vibrant marine life, this is truely to be a highlight of your trip.

As the evening starts to set in, we set sail and prepare to drop anchor for the night at another spectacular location. Time to relax and reflect with new friends on the days activities.

Enjoy your final breakfast and take the opportunity for one last snorkel on todays chosen reef, or try your hand at stand-up paddle-boarding ( if available ). Afterwards, as we sail back towards Airlie Beach, take in all the beauty of the Whitsundays and it’s incredible archipelago whilst soaking in the sun and atmosphere of being on a sailing vessel.

Can I travel with my chidren?

Children’s age limit varies from 5-12 yrs, some vessels do not take children at all or are not suitable, please contact our office with age of children and our reservations staff will be able to assist you in choosing the best sailing experience for you and your family.

What immunisations do I need?

For the latest information on immunisations, we strongly recommend you or contact the Travellers Medical and Vaccination Centre ( www.traveldoctor.com.au ) to discuss health requirements for your trip. They will advise you about appropriate inoculations.

Do I need to take any medical supplies?

It is not necessary to bring any medical supplies other than any personal items you may require. Each tour will carry an first aid box and our guides are all certified in First Aid.

How do I get to Port of Airlie Marina for my vessel departure?

Port of Airlie Marina is 5 minutes walk towards the bus terminal from our check-in office. Follow the map and directions you will receive at check-in. 

How do I get to Abell Point Marina for my vessel departure?

Abel Point Marina has two departure area’s which you will be shown on your check in.  Taxi is approx. $10, Buses do go to the Southern end of the marina but limited service.By foot! Bicentennial walk follows the foreshore from Airlie Beach Lagoon – To the Northern end of the marina is approx. 15 min walk and to the Southern end approx. 20min.We do not have a pick up service.

How fit do I need to be?

Our tours are made to be fun, informative and active and can be enjoyed by anyone with a moderate degree of fitness and agility. Travellers should be comfortable with hiking/walking up to 5km each day.

Do I need travel insurance?

Insurance is important in protecting visitors from loss or damange of goods, medical problems, cancelation by passengers or other casualties. Its highly recommended.

Some tours on this website require you to have travel insurance. If you are Australian then it is not necessary.

Will I be able to use my mobile whilst on tour?

If you are using Telstra as your mobile service provider than most likely yes! Their coverage of Australia is quite extensive so you shouldn't have too much trouble. 

Do I need to check-in at the office?

Please ensure that you call to reconfirm with our office 48 hours prior to departure.  Check in is preferably the day prior between 7:30am to 5pm, if you can not check in then please call us on 1300653100.  Our office is located at next to Airlie Waterfront Backpackers in Beach Plaza at 6 Airlie Espanade.

Do I need to bring my own drinks?

Most Whitsundays Sailing Adventures vessels are BYO (bring your own) alcohol, soft drinks, spring water and juice. Three of our vessels have a licenced bar on board which sell alcoholic drinks at very reasonable prices. It is a legal requirement that alcohol is not brought on board by guests onto these vessels. At publishing these vessels are Pacific Sunrise, Derwent Hunter and Kiana.

Can I have my own cabin?

Yes you can have your own cabin, just look for one of our vessels with this option, some with their own private facilities.  The following are the types of accommodation that our vessels offer:Shared single – single bed in a dorm situation Shared double – double bed in a dorm situationPrivate twin – two single beds in a private cabinPrivate double – double bed in a private cabinPrivate Stateroom – double bed in a large private cabin

Do i have to book this tour online.

Definitely not. Our website is designed to make is easy and convenient for you to schedule your tour. However we understand sometimes its nice to talk to someone directly. So by all means give us a call and we can organise your trip over the phone.

If I book more than one tour can I get a discount?

Absolutely! If you are booking multiple tours then we may be able to offer you a discount. Send us an email at [email protected] and let us know what you thinking of doing and we can put together a price for you.

Also, be sure to look out for monthly specials on tours. We often have some great bargains.

How do I know when a tour is available?

You can check the departure dates of tours by using our calendar on the top right hand corner of the tour page. This will tell you what days the tour departs. For availability of seats please contact us directly at [email protected] or call us.

Does the tour price include flights?

No. Tour prices do not include any travel arrangements other than for the duration of the tour itself.

How far in advance do I need to book my tour?

As a rule of thumb we generally say AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to departure, this will usually get you a seat on the date you want. That being said, we cannot guarantee that spaces will be available at the time of your booking so, if you can, book as soon as possible.

Bookings can still be made right up until the departure date of the tour if seats are available. If you know when you'd like to travel, please contact us and we will let you know if you need to book soon or if you have time.

If I make a deposit only, when will I need to pay the balance?

Balance on tours need to be paid at least 30 days prior to departure. Failure to do so could result is the cancellation of your seat with a fee charged. If you need more time to clear your balance then let us know ASAP and arrangements can be made.

Who travels with us

Is this tour for me.

Our tours are made up of small groups with a range of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Generally people who travel with us are between 20 and 45, though we also get alot passengers much older onboard - everyone is welcome! On tour we get equally as many males as females and everyone shares an enthusiasm for the out doors, nature, adventure and culture.

Our tours are for those wanting to really explore Australia and share the experience with likeminded travellers. Whether we are camping by a billabong in Kakadu National Park or sharing a cabin in Tasmania, our travellers want more than just a site seeing tour. They are chasing a hands on group experience.

The trips are packed with many highlights and the pace can be fast. There may be some long drives and passengers should expect to help out when setting up camp or cooking food - this is a group adventure. However, there’s always time to chill out, have a cold beer ( or wine! ) and soak up your surroundings.

What type of groups go on these tours?

Onboard our tours there are usually around 5 - 24 people ( depending on the tour and destination ). Lost In Australia's travellers want to explore the country and develop a real sense for the land, nature and its people. We travel in small groups which allows us to get from destination to destination quickly and effortlessly whilst being flexible and free!

Is it ok to travel alone on one of these tours?

We have many travellers jumping onboard our tours by themselves. Those travelling by themselves are very much welcomed and encouraged. During your outback adventure you'll meet new and interesting people and forge relationships that will last a life time.

Those who do travel by themselves will probably be sharing a room with a travelling companion of the same sex, but even if you do get your own room, you won't be charged extra. For camping tours, generally there are enough tents available that you can have your own if you choose to.

How many people will be on tour?

Group sizes vary from tour to tour. You can find the size of your group by checking out information at the top right hand corner of the tour page. Group sizes range of 5 - 24 people.

Is there an age limit?

We get a large range of travellers from all over the world and from a very large age range. We get people of all ages joining these trips; generally our travellers vary between 21 - 45 though we also get many happy travellers in their 60s and 70s. Some tours however have a restriction on children under the age of 16 - 18. This will depend on the destination so please email us for more info.

Cost and Fees

What does "paid locally" mean.

Some tours require you to pay national park fees directly, in cash, to the tour guide on the morning of departure. Rest assured this will be subtracted from the tour price when reserving your tour.

Will I need additional money?

Visitors are advised to bring some cash as ATMs and banks can be few and far between depending on where we are during the trip. Its handy to have some extra cash as we do stop by local shops and cafe.

Do I need to tip our guide?

If you had an amazing time on tour and wish to tip the guide, then that is completely up to you. However, tipping is not customary in Australia and is not at all expected.

Are there any hidden fees I need to know about?

Our tour prices are completely transparent. There are no additional fees involved that are not included in the overall tour price shown. If you wish to do optional activities such as helicopter rides or wildlife safaris, then an extra cost may be needed. However, this will always be made clear at the time of your booking.

Whilst on tour

Can i book extra accommodation for the start and end of the tour.

Definitely - We know Australia inside and out and would be happy to give you good recommodations.

Can you cater of special diets?

We can certain cater for most dietary needs. Please advise us at the time of your booking so arrangements can be made. For travellers with more extreme diets we may ask that you bring along additional snacks.

What is the weather like on the east coast?

The east coast of Australia is an extremely long piece of coastline and it traverses very different weather patterns, from the temperate south in Sydney to the tropical north in Cairns. Irrespective of the season, In summer, if you are travelling between Sydney and Cairns, you are probably going to either experience wetter more humid weather nearer Cairns. In winter months, clear and dry conditions near cairns and cooler and wetter weather nearer Sydney.

Can I travel with children?

Is there drinking water on the boat.

Yes, all our vessels have fresh tap water suitable for drinking.  If you prefer bottled water you can purchase this on board most vessels. Remember to drink at least 2 litres of water per person per day!

Will there be jelly fish?

At certain times of year ‘dangerous’ jellyfish inhabit these waters and passengers should take care for their own safety.  'Stinger Season' in the Whitsundays runs every year generally from October through to May. During this period, jellyfish can be found in the waters around the mainland, islands and have occasionally been found out on the reef.  Passengers entering the water do so at their own risk and the owners or operators of the vessel will not be liable for any personal injury, illness, death or any other consequences whatsoever of passengers being stung by jellyfish. To minimise this risk you will be provided with a full length protective ‘Stinger Suit’ to wear whilst swimming and snorkelling during the cruise.  We highly recommend these be worn all year round, some vessels make it compulsory for the safety of the guests. Not only are they for safety but they keep you warm in the water, act as sun protection and are a great aid for buoyancy while snorkelling.

We have a great menu for you, however we do need to be informed at check-in if you have special dietary requirements. If you have any medical conditions/food allergies please advise at booking and again at check-in.

This tour will visit the best of the best of the Whitsundays, joining a stellar crew and ripping it up with 20 – 25 other guests. You’ll be able to engage in some amazing activities from snorkelling, bushwalking, sailing, and socialising the nights away. You will also have the chance to visit the famous Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet Lookout for some fun in the sun, marvellous viewpoints, and great photo opportunities.

Now, when you aren’t socialising and soaking in all the fun, guests are able to sit back in the shade or sun and just enjoy the beauty of the natural locations. There is no set itinerary for this tour. Each trip will be planned around the weather conditions, tides and the groups desires. Below is a list of what we could offer and where we could go. Please note that we will always visit Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Lookout, bush-walks, multiple snorkelling locations and of course do lots of sailing.

Sailing and match-racing between the Prosail maxi yachts Up to 4 snorkel sites Explore the North and possibly the South end of Whitehaven Beach, visiting two different lookouts (Hill Inlet Lookout & South Whitehaven Lookout) Bush-walks that range from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Supplier Terms & Conditions

Cancellations made less than 7 days before departure will result in complete forfeiture of the full price.

Cancellations made outside of 7 days before departure will only incur a $35 per person admin & booking fee. Any date changes can be accepted without a fee up to 7 days prior to departure. Please note that the 7-day cancellation policy will always be calculated from the original departure date.

All prices are per person in AUD and include GST, National Park and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park entry fees, professional skipper and deckhands, live-aboard accommodation, all meals, fresh linen, use of snorkelling equipment and snorkel suits. Prices do not include airfares or transfers to and from the marina, accommodation pre or post-tour or extras.

Accommodation on Broomstick is made up of single and double beds in open shared dorm style cabins/sections below deck. From April-September our maximum capacity is normally 20 guests allowing guests to have their own bed (whether it be a single or a double). During peak season (October-March) our capacity can reach higher numbers of up to 25 with sharing of double beds.

Prosail tours are perfect for adventurous singles, couples and groups normally aged between 18-45.

All Broomstick Whitsundays guests must be able to move freely about a boat unassisted.

No large bags or suitcases will be accepted on-board. Luggage can be stored at most accommodation locations or at the Red Cat Adventures shop in Airlie Beach for a small fee.

BYO alcohol and drinks (no glass or red wine please).

We cater for most diet requirements – vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free. Please call our office if diet requirements differ from these. Please note that there is limited diet alternatives to our desserts (which include gluten and dairy).

We reserve the right to substitute vessels without notice at any time for any reason.

All charters are subject to weather and the vessel operator’s discretion. We recommend you take out travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss of personal goods and the inability to travel due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstances. This is an adventure product and clients should note that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard guests, we cannot be responsible for any damage, personal injury or loss due to the actions of passengers that are beyond our control.

If travelling to Airlie Beach by road, please allow extra time to travel during the wet season (Dec-May) as we occasionally have road closures due to flooding.

At certain times of the year, rare but ‘dangerous’ jellyfish inhabit these waters and passengers should take care of their own safety. Do i need to reconfirm my bookings.

All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

What should I do if my trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

You may either re-schedule directly with the supplier or you can email our support team on [email protected] and include your voucher number, name of product you booked, planned departure date and your contact details. Once you’ve emailed us, you can drop us a line at +61 2 5633 1149.

Do you book tours with flexible dates? If so, how long are they valid for?

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.

What do I do if I need help with an existing booking?

Do I need travel insurance?

We endorse the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that all travellers take out travel insurance. 10/10 would recommend Would definitely recommend this trip! The tour itself is beautiful with white haven beach being a clear highlight but all other stops and snorkelling spots also being brilliant. The boat itself is fairly big and as boats go quite comfortable (two bathrooms and you can fully stand up in most parts downstairs). We sailed with Quinn, Chlo and Lecole and they were so lovely and knowledgable. Food was also great with the afternoon snacks being great after the days activities. Come explore the Whitsundays with us and learn to freedive in some of the most beautiful waters in the world.  Four days on board a maxi yacht, stretching and meditation, deserted beaches and a freediving course.

Looking for an amazing way to spend your next holiday? Then look no further than our Liveaboard Whitsundays Freediving Retreat! While onboard a maxi yacht, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef while learning how to freedive or improving your skills.

This trip will truly take you away from that busy world we live in and reconnect you with nature. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve with the proper instruction and guidance. In addition to line diving and exploring the reef, you’ll also participate in daily breathwork, stretching and meditation and even get certified in freediving with PADI, SSI or Molchanovs.

What are the best dates for my flights?

It is best to arrive on the morning of the first day of the retreat. If you are completing a course we will have a theory and pool session in the afternoon. We will depart on the sailboat early the following morning. 

On the last day of the retreat we will arrive back in Airlie Beach mid afternoon and enjoy a final dinner together in Airlie Beach, so it's best to fly out the following day.

You will need to arrange your own accommodation for both nights in Airlie Beach.

If you are not completing the course you are welcome to join the theory or pool sessions for a refresh on your skills, or join us for a welcome dinner on the first night of the retreat.  

Liveaboard MAXI YACHT "BROOMSTICK"

Your home away from land.

Prosail owns and operates a variety of maxi yachts which sleep up to 24 people. To maximise comfort and experience, OceanSense has capped this trip at just 12 people with a 1:4 instructor to student ratio. Making this liveaboard Whitsundays retreat a truly unique and stand out experience.

Broomstick has a spacious and comfortable shared, bunk style accommodation. With 32 metres of deck space, this huge maxi yacht offers plenty of space onboard for guests to roam around, sunbathe or perfect your backflips off the back of the boat.

For guests who want to be involved, they can help set the sails, have a turn on the wheel and get some awesome sailing photos. The Captain and crew will provide interpretive information on the Whitsunday Islands and the Marine Park. The itinerary will cover around 100 kms around the islands and is achieved due to the sailing performance and ability of a Maxi Yacht. Maxi yachts also are even more ‘eco-friendly’ as they use wind power as much as is possible.

Sit back, relax and unwind as we sail through the islands with your favorite beverage.

Meals are included and are freshly prepared on board; we source quality Australian Produce. Special diets can be catered, though may incur an additional cost and should be advised at the time of booking.

Liveaboard Whitsundays Retreat Schedule

Day 1 airlie beach.

If you’re completing a freediving course we will meet in Airlie Beach today.

• Complete our classroom theory, a breathwork session and pool session
• Meet for a group dinner and get to know your new freediving friends

Day 2 Depart Airlie Beach for Whitsunday Islands

If you aren’t completing a course, you are most welcome to join us on day 1 for dinner. Otherwise you can meet us on day 2 to board the boat.

• Board the sailboat early in the morning and set sail to the Whitsunday Islands
• Our first depth diving session where we will put our new freediving skills to the test in the ocean
• An exploration dive on one the Whitsundays reefs
• Watch the sunset over the islands
• Lunch & dinner on board

Day 3 & 4 Whitsunday Islands & Outer Great Barrier Reef

• Wake up early for the sunrise
• Sail to the Outer Great Barrier Reef
• A breathwork, meditation or stretching session
• Exploration diving on different coral reefs, chosen based on the days conditions
• Watch the Sunset over the Great Barrier Reef
• Breakfast, lunch & dinner on board

Day 5 Whitsunday Islands & Whitehaven Beach

• Our last depth diving session for the trip
• Visit Whitehaven Beach
• Hike to the lookout for an amazing view & swim in the crystal clear waters
• Sail back to the Marina and disembark mid afternoon.
• Breakfast & lunch on board

Depending on sailing conditions we will visit either the Outer Great Barrier Reef OR Whitehaven Beach, usually not both due to the time it takes to sail to each location. They are both equally amazing experiences!

Experience an impressive 3 day 2 night Maxi Sailing Adventure on the Whitsunday’s perfect for the young at heart.

This boat tour offers you a social experience with a group of like-minded travelers. On this sailing tour, you will explore the amazing Whitehaven Beach and go snorkeling at up to four locations on the fringing coral reef.

The maxi yacht Broomstick only stopped racing in 2000 but now is fitted out for your passenger comfort. it’s still a long and sleek boat with double and single bunk accommodations on board.

Yachts are 22 to 24 meters long and offer plenty of space to relax on the deck or below. We roll out large shade awnings when at anchor.

When you are not socialising, soaking in the sun rays, or speed sailing, guests are able to sit back in the shade (or sun) and just appreciate the natural locations.

The itinerary for this tour is flexible, planned around weather, tides, and the group’s interests. Regardless, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Lookout, multiple snorkel sites, bushwalks, and sailing are guaranteed.

Sailing and match-racing between the Prosail maxi yachts is a highlight. Up to 4 snorkel sites are visited out of a selection based on weather and tides.

Two lookouts at Whitehaven Beach are visited, along with 1-2 sunset beach hangs. Up to two bush-walks ranging from 20 minutes to 3 hours are available.

The tour departs from Coral Sea Marina, Airlie Beach, and returns on the last day. After the tour, join the crew and passengers at the after-party in Airlie Beach for a catch-up with reserved table, drink discounts, and meal deals. Evening onboard entails socializing with the crew and fellow passengers, enjoying drinks, stargazing, and falling asleep to the gentle rocking of the water.

The yacht offers extra comforts like sun and rain shades, hammocks, hot showers, USB charging stations, and thicker snorkel/swimming suits in cooler months.

• These tours are perfect for adventurous singles, couples and groups normally aged between 18-45. We have no age limit, however you must be ‘young at heart’, fit and able to move about a boat unassisted and understand the adventurous and social nature of our tours. Some under 18’ s may be accepted on board by request
• Accommodation is made up of single and double beds in dormitory-style cabins/sections below deck. During peak season (October-March) capacity can reach up to 25 guests onboard (with sharing of double beds). From April-September capacity is normally 20 guests ensuring all guests have their own bed (unless they would like to share a double)
• Departs Coral Sea Marina, Airlie Beach at 10 am. Returns to the same location on the fourth day at approximately 3:30 pm
• If Broomstick’s departure dates are not desirable, check out  Hammer and  Condor’s availability as these boats run the exact same tour.

Broomstick is a BYO vessel, which means you are able to bring your own alcohol onto the tour (no glass please). Filtered drinking water is included throughout your tour, you are welcome to bring a bottle and fill it as much as you like, however for your convenience soft drinks are available for purchase on board. The crew will keep a tab and you can pay at the end of your tour.

Don’t worry, we supply swimming noodles and additional floatation as required. We will do a risk assessment on every guest before entering the water. While in the water the small tender will be relatively close by. We also have staff on look-out duty. In the Whitsundays, the reefs we visit are off the beaches, so it is pretty easy to make way to the beach.

Accommodation on all Prosail vessels is made up of single and double beds in shared dormitory-style cabins/sections below deck. This tour will run with a maximum of 20 guests ensuring all guests have their own bed (unless they would like to share).
