A Summary of Motor Yacht M4

The motor yacht M4 is a superyacht of good sized proportions. This 33 m (108 foot) luxury yacht was manufactured at Rmk Marine Gemi Yapim nayi Ve in 2002. M4 used to be named the project or yacht name 49. She is a recent converted private yacht. Superyacht M4 is a well designed yacht that is able to accommodate as many as 8 guests on board and has a total of 5 crew. The naval architecture office which delivered the plans and general arangement with respect to the yacht was Stephen R. Seaton and Kevin M. Kerwin. Selldorf was also the interior designer who completed the overall interior design.

The New Build & Design relating to Luxury Yacht M4

The yacht's general design work came from Stephen R Seaton and Kevin M Kerwin. The professional naval architecture plans are the creation of Stephen R Seaton. Motor Yacht M4 received her elegant interior designing from the interior design company of Selldorf. Built by Rmk Marine Gemi Yapim nayi Ve this vessel was fabricated in Turkey. She was successfully launched in Istanbul in 2002 before being handed over to the owner. Her core hull was built out of steel. The motor yacht main superstructure is fabricated extensively from aluminiumandgrp. With a width of 8.53 metres or 28 ft M4 has fairly large interior. She has a shallow draught of 2.87m (9.4ft).

M/Y M4 Engineering & Speed:

The yacht has twin reliable CATERPILLAR main engine(s) and can find a swift maximum limit continuous speed of approximately 14 knots. The main engine of the ship gives 670 horse power (or 493 kilowatts). Her total HP is 1340 HP and her total Kilowatts are 986. Coupled to the M4 engines are twin screw propellers. With respect to the ship’s stabalisers she was supplied with Koopnautic. As for thrusters she utilises Torkmaster. M4 has a/an impressive cruise speed is 12 knots which enables a range of 4000.

While the United Kingdom may lack the plentiful sun and warm seas of France and Italy, there's evidently still an appeal among owners – with an increasing number of yachts setting a course for its capital city. BOAT takes a look at the latest superyacht sightings in London...

Sold after just three months on the market , the new owners of the 60.9-metre Samadhi decided it would be best to bring her back to her home shipyard Feadship for a thorough – but sensitive – refit. Earlier this week, BOAT International was invited to her mooring in Tower Bridge to see the result. While imagery is undisclosed, her new owners are big fans of colour which has translated into the interiors, particularly the colourful carpets. A unique addition is the aft deck pool, which has gym equipment installed inside, including resistance bands for a more intense swim. The owner's suite has also received a refresh, with a new treatment room in place of the wardrobe complete with an ice bath and massage table.  According to BOATPro , the superyacht has since wound her way up to the Hebrides, an archipelago in Scotland.

Delivered early this year, Iris Blue has arrived in London following six months of cruising the fjords of Norway and the Netherlands. The 55-metre is the first of Heesen 's Steel Class series to sport a revised design by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects (the original designer of the Steel Class series). The result is a more "aggressive" and "masculine" look, thanks to a larger expanse of floor-to-ceiling tinted glass. Other design highlights include the sundeck, which has a bar built around a whirpool Jacuzzi and the owner's suite with its veranda and walk-in wardrobes. Iris Blue has been photographed just in front of the iconic Gherkin tower, which was designed by Lord Foster – the man behind the Yacht Club de Monaco and the 41-metre Ocean Emerald .

With her buttercup-yellow awnings and distinctively brawny exterior, 63.7-metre Scout was spotted brightening up London's waterways this week. The flagship of Dutch yard Royal Hakvoort , Scout is named after the owner and his partner's beloved dog and the mascot that sometimes sits on the bow is a custom-made impression of it. H2 Yacht Design has helmed the interior, and according to our first look inside superyacht Scout , the inside is a wacky and wonderful mix of “what the future was once expected to look like”, with features including an LCD skylight that streams various scenes into the main saloon. Scout is no stranger to Butler's Wharf, having paid a visit to the UK capital last year. 

Scintilla Maris

In April, Scintilla Maris was photographed departing from Damen Maaskant 's shipyard in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The 45.6-metre converted fishing trawler then completed her maiden voyage to London and was docked in Canary Wharf, according to BOATPro . Scintilla Maris ' ambitious refit project has earned her a nomination at this year's World Superyacht Awards in the 'Rebuilt Yacht' category. Works included reducing the yacht's 570GT to below the 500GT threshold and the installation of eclectic, loft-like interiors by Dutch studio Vripack .

The 49.7-metre Triton was seen moored near Tower Bridge in April 2024. She was launched and designed by Delta Marine in 2004 and was the largest composite yacht built in the United States at the time. Triton is best suited to worldwide cruising, deep-sea fishing and exotic reef diving, with an underwater camera in the bow and a lighting rig at the stern that "provides guests front-row seats for observing the ocean’s mysteries". A sonar and bottom-mapping system by Simrad can also photograph and 3D map the bottom of the ocean, easily locating any nearby wreckage. Interior highlights include a full-width master cabin with a sitting room, library, office and his and hers bathroom.

Bravo Eugenia

Oceanco 's 109-metre Bravo Eugenia has visited the Big Smoke many times, showing off a chiselled Nuvolari Lenard exterior and dazzling underwater light display. A sharp plumb bow and extended waterline make her one of the distinctive superyachts on the water, and she certainly cuts an elegant profile whenever she arrives in London. With her hybrid propulsion engine, she offers a quiet electric mode which allows her to consume 30 per cent less fuel than other motor yachts in her size class, making her one of the more eco-friendly yachts in the world . She was most recently sighted in November 2023 at Butler's Wharf Pier, Tower Bridge.

The 90-metre expedition yacht has been spotted anchored in front of Tower Bridge following delivery from Lürssen 's yard in Germany. Launched in February 2023, Norn has since travelled across the Baltic and North Sea, including a skirt around Sweden’s Skåne County and a brief stop in the port of Helsingborg on the 9 of June, according to BOATPro . Key features include an outdoor cinema and changeable-depth pool floor with dance floor illumination.

Prior to arriving in Canary Wharf, the 56-metre Benetti build enjoyed a cruising expedition in the cruising grounds from where she gets her name. Australia ’s Stefano Ricci lines and navy hull attracted plenty of attention along the Gold Coast, and the 2012 build has an equally impressive interior with three individual dining saloons. She was launched as Ulysses and later became known as Bash , and was formerly owned by two serial yacht owners.

Fresh from an Atlantic crossing that began in early May and a stop-off in Portsmouth, the 54.3-metre Amels yacht Revelry was spotted docked in Canary Wharf. The yacht has a textbook Tim Heywood exterior and interiors by Laura Sessa , as part of the Dutch yard's Limited Editions 177 series. She was launched as 4You in 2012 and changed ownership in 2021.

The 110-metre Kaos (ex Jubilee ) is the largest yacht to pay a visit to London in recent years. She cruised up the Thames in May 2023, stopping in front of Butler's Wharf and Tower Bridge to show off her unique blue exterior penned by Lobanov Design . The multi-award-winning yacht has a stellar range of onboard amenities, including an 8.5-metre pool, aquarium and a multitude of custom-designed pieces not found on any other yacht. At the time of her last sale in 2018, she was one of the largest sales in yachting history. 

The third unit in Benetti 's highly popular Oasis 40M series, named Phoenix , has spent a significant amount of time cruising the coastline of Great Britain. Since her delivery in 2021, she has paid visits to Southampton and Ireland as well as to Canary Wharf and Tower Bridge. Key features include the signature Oasis deck, which boasts a glass-fronted dipping pool and unfolding bulwarks. The design of this model was so popular it inspired a smaller 34 metre series, with Zlatan Ibrahimović buying the first unit .

The 49.1-metre Reef Chief was spotted docked in the heart of Canary Wharf in 2022. The yacht was delivered by American yard Trinity in 2009 and has been designed with entertainment at its core. She is crowned by a large sundeck with an exterior bar, shaded dining area and TV screen, along with a Jacuzzi. Ten guests can be accommodated in five cabins, which are styled in classic polished wood and cream tones.

The 33.7-metre Van der Valk superyacht Blue Jeans made her maiden voyage to London after departing the shipyard in the Netherlands. Her cool blue hull added a touch of brightness to a dreary London day, and she spent her time cruising up and down the river showing off her custom Guido De Groot exterior. The all-aluminium yacht is one of the builder's most complex undertakings to date and is home to a foredeck "chillout lounge" with sun pads tucked into the bow, a U-shaped sofa and a dining table that pops up from the deck.

Fresh from a comprehensive refit and extension, the 44-metre motor yacht Brazil paid a visit to the River Thames in December 2022. The yacht was spotted moored outside St Katharine Docks Marina enjoying some winter sunshine in front of Tower Bridge. She was originally delivered by Heesen in 1993 and was relaunched in October following an extensive refit courtesy of a collaboration between three Dutch firms – Snijders Yachts, Zwijnenburg and Dutchflows. Work was primarily focused around the stern area, where the yacht was given a new beach club. The yacht is listed for sale with IYC .

Slipstream was delivered in 2009 as one of two 60-metre models from French shipyard CMN , Both exterior and interior were curated by Winch Design and the British studio has given her a smart navy hull with a distinctive grey superstructure. She features generous living and entertainment areas with an outdoor cinema on the sundeck and a hand-carved 4.5-metre totem pole at the centrepiece of a feature staircase. Owned by Canadian businessman Jack Cowin, Slipstream is currently available for charter by Burgess .

Having recently completed a cross-planet navigation that included Norway, the Maldives and Australia, 62-metre Stardust was spotted cruising up the Thames and into Canary Wharf in July 2022. The Amels build was handed over to her owners in 2020, and is the first and only hull in the Dutch yard's Limited Editions 206 series. Interior design comes from Laura Sessa, while Tim Heywood is responsible for the yacht's distinctive exterior, which is characterised by long lines of circular portholes and a cut-out segment in the hull line. 

The 75.6-metre Boardwalk is one of the newer deliveries from prestigious Dutch shipbuilder Feadship , and she caused a big buzz when she moored up on the Thames against the backdrop of Tower Bridge. Her aft deck helipad, generous beach club and huge TV screens were on full display to lucky onlookers who were able to catch a glimpse of her. 

Delivered in 2010 from Lürssen, 60-metre Bella Vita paid a brief visit to London, where she was seen along Butler's Wharf, just in front of Tower Bridge. Launched under the name Katie Sue II , the yacht became one of the top 50 most expensive yachts for sale in the world prior to her sale in January 2021. No doubt her new owner is enjoying her Glade Johnson interior and well-equipped sundeck. 

The 55.5-metre Moon Sand made waves when she cruised up the Thames shortly after her delivery from Lürssen . The yacht has a number of innovative features on deck, including a recessed pool that can be drained and raised flush with the deck when not in use. The yacht's crisp profile and clean, soothing interiors are by legendary yacht design studio Bannenberg & Rowell . 

With her sky-blue hull and buttercup yellow exterior accents, the Abeking & Rasmussen -built 98 metre motor Aviva added some colour to the city when she visited. The yacht is home to an onboard paddel tennis court - the first of its kind ever installed - which had to be carefully engineered in order to create the correct level of bounce. 

Heesen's largest steel superyacht to date was spotted in London displaying her new name Lusine . The yacht hit the water in 2021 sporting a masculine exterior courtesy of Omega Architects and an interior by Sinot Yacht and Architecture Design . A glass elevator lies at the heart of the design while a touch-and-go helipad forward allows guests to come and go in complete privacy.

With her "champagne and caviar" interiors and two-deck video walls in the lobby, 95-metre Kismet is all about the wow factor. Her interiors are by Reymond Langton, while her exteriors are the work of Espen Øino and she features an impressive jaguar statue on the bowsprit. She marks one of the most expensive yachts for charter in the world , asking a cool €1,200,000 for one week.

Motor Yacht A

One of the most recognisable yachts in the world, Motor Yacht A is sure to have drawn the crowds in the UK capital with her unconventional design. The 119-metre Blohm + Voss was commissioned by Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko. Following the Ukraine war, the superyacht was moved to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where it remains to this day, according to BOATPro .

Hp to pursue $4 billion damages after mike lynch yacht death.

(Bloomberg) -- Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. said it intends to pursue the $4 billion damages claim in London against the estate of the recently deceased British tech tycoon Mike Lynch.

Just over a week after the bodies of Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, were recovered from the wreck of his sunken yacht, the US company said it planned to collect any damages that are awarded by a London court. HPE won the British civil case over the collapse of Lynch’s Autonomy Corp. and is waiting for a judge to decide how much it is owed.

“It is HPE’s intention to follow the proceedings through to their conclusion,” the company said in a statement Monday.

The decision to move forward puts HPE on a reputational tightrope. While a UK civil claim automatically ensures that the case passes to the estate of a defendant in the event of a death, the prospect of pursuing the money from Lynch’s family is likely to be deeply unpopular after the tragedy.

“It was likely that they were going to face criticism going ahead with a claim against his grieving widow,” said Robin Henry, a partner at law firm Collyer Bristow, who isn’t involved in the case. “I think they are trying to mitigate the reputational damage by saying they are under an obligation to protect the interests of HPE’s shareholders.”

A spokesperson for Lynch’s family declined to comment. The Times of London reported on the case earlier.

After one of the longest and most expensive trials in British history, Judge Robert Hildyard ruled in 2022 that Lynch had fraudulently boosted the value of the company. “One of the tragedies of the case is clear: an innovative and ground-breaking product, its architect and the company will probably always be associated with fraud,” the judge said in the ruling.

In total, HPE was seeking $4 billion from Lynch and his finance chief, but the judge had cautioned that it was likely to get substantially less than that.

Lynch died after his luxury yacht foundered in severe weather off the coast of Sicily. He was celebrating his acquittal from US criminal charges with a small group of advisers when the storm struck. His wife, Angela Bacares, managed to escape with her life, while Lynch’s other daughter wasn’t on board at the time.

Sicily yacht sinking: London tech tycoon Mike Lynch and teenager daughter among missing after yacht sinks

B ritish technology tycoon Mike Lynch and his teenage daughter are among six tourists missing after a superyacht sank off the coast of Sicily as a tornado hit the area.

Rescue officials confirmed that one body had been found after the 56-metre boat, named Bayesian, sunk around 5am on Monday near Porticello.

Four Britons are reportedly among six people missing at sea, including Mr Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

There were 22 people onboard the vessel at the time and 15 were rescued by coastguard patrol boats and firefighters, including Mr Lynch’s wife Angela Bacares.

Mr Lynch co-founded software giant Autonomy in 1996 and was made an OBE for services to enterprise in 2006.

In June this year, he was cleared of conducting a massive fraud relating to an £8.64 billion sale to US company Hewlett Packard.

The coast guard said that divers had been sent to inspect the wreck of the Bayesian, which was lying at a depth of 49 metres.

Italian authorities said that a body, believed to be that of the vessel’s chef, had been recovered in their search for missing yachtsmen near the vessel’s hull.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch said four of its inspectors were being deployed to Palermo and that a team would conduct a basic assessment of the scene.

Charlotte Golunski, who was on board the vessel, told La Repubblica newspaper of how she saved her daughter Sofia as the boat sank.

She said: “I held her afloat with all my strength, my arms stretched upwards to keep her from drowning.

“It was all dark. In the water I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I screamed for help but all I could hear around me was the screams of others.”

Charlotte and Sofia are being treated in hospital, as is Charlotte’s husband, James.

The vessel had been flying a British flag at the time of the incident, according to ship-tracking site Marine Traffic, and called at various ports in Sicily in recent days.

A spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said: “We are in contact with the local authorities following an incident in Sicily, and stand ready to provide consular support to British nationals affected.”

The captain of a nearby boat, Karsten Borner, said that when the storm hit he turned the engine on to keep control of the vessel and avoid a collision with the Bayesian.

"We managed to keep the ship in position and after the storm was over, we noticed that the ship behind us was gone," he said.

The Bayesian "went flat on the water, and then down," he added.

Fisherman Francesco Cefalu said he sailed from the shore to the scene after seeing a flare at about 4.30am, but the Bayesian had sunk by the time he arrived.

He added: “I think they are inside, all the missing people.”

Storms and heavy rainfall have swept down Italy in recent days after weeks of scorching heat, which had lifted the temperature of the Mediterranean sea to record levels, raising the risk of extreme weather conditions, experts said.

"The sea surface temperature around Sicily was around 30 degrees Celsius, which is almost 3 degrees more than normal. This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms," meteorologist Luca Mercalli told Reuters.

Crew of doomed Bayesian superyacht say they ‘saved who they could’

Crew members of the Bayesian superyacht which sank off the coast of Italy told how they ‘were walking on the walls’ of the tilted ship to ‘save who we could’.

An investigation is underway into how the luxury vessel went down near Sicily, killing seven people including British tech billionaire Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

Matthew Griffiths, 22, was on watch duty when the storm hit and told prosectors how he ‘woke the captain up when the wind was blowing at 20 knots,’ according to Italy’s Ansa news agency.

‘He ordered to wake everyone else up. I then stored away the pillows and plants , closed the windows of the sitting room in the bow and some hatches.’

He continued that the ship ’tilted and we fell into the water. We were then able to climb back on and we tried to save those we could.’

The captain managed to rescue ‘the little girl and her mother’, he added, thought to be a reference to yacht guest Charlotte Golunski, 36, who was earlier reported to have held her one-year-old daughter’s head above the water to save her.

Prosecutors in Italy have opened in a wide investigation into the circumstances of the sinking.

The ship’s captain, New Zealander James Cutfield, is under investigation for possible manslaughter and culpable shipwreck charges.

Tim Parker Eaton, the engineer who was in charge of securing the yacht’s engine room, and Matthew Griffith, are under investigation for the same possible charges, their lawyer said.

Lawyer Mario Scopesi said: ‘The profile of their possible responsibilities is still unclear, as the investigation has just started.’

He added that both Parker Eaton and Griffith left Italy on Wednesday, along with Cutfield and the rest of the crew.

Under the Italian legal system, no guilt is implied with an individual being officially under investigation and it does not mean there will be formal charges to follow.

Investigators are focusing on how a sailing vessel deemed ‘unsinkable’ by its manufacturer, Italian shipyard Perini Navi, sank while a nearby sailboat remained largely unscathed.

Prosecutors said the sinking was ‘extremely rapid’ and could have been due to a ‘downburst’ – a localized, powerful wind that descends from a thunderstorm and spreads out rapidly on hitting the ground.

All crew members survived except for the chef, but six passengers were trapped in the yacht’s hull and died.

The captain’s lawyer Aldo Mordiglia said of his client: ‘He just exercised his right to remain silent, probably prosecutors were expecting that.’

Mr Mordiglia added that the captain’s legal team has just been named and needs time to work on his defensive strategy.

The Bayesian is expected to be raised from the seabed costing at least £15 million in order to find more clarity on what led to the disaster.

LONDON (AP) — Hewlett Packard Enterprise said Monday it won't drop its U.K. claim for damages against the estate of British tech mogul Mike Lynch , who was killed when his superyacht sank last month.

Britain's High Court in 2022 ruled mostly in favor of the U.S. technology company, which accused Lynch and his former finance director of fraud over its $11 billion takeover of his software company Autonomy. Hewlett Packard is seeking up to $4 billion in damages and the judge is expected to issue a decision on the final sum soon.

Lynch died when his yacht, the Bayesian, sank in a storm off Sicily on Aug. 19. His widow, Angela Bacares, could now be liable for the damages.

Months before the sinking, Lynch was acquitted in a separate U.S. criminal trial of fraud and conspiracy charges in the deal.

Hewlett Packard initially celebrated the costly acquisition of Lynch’s company in 2011 but quickly came to regret it. The company said in a statement Monday that it had “substantially succeeded” in its civil fraud claims against Lynch and Sushovan Hussain, the former finance director.

“It is HPE’s intention to follow the proceedings through to their conclusion.”

However, the judge in the U.K. civil case has already ruled that the amount payable in damages would be “substantially less” than the company is seeking.

A spokesperson for Lynch's family declined to comment.

Lynch and his daughter Hannah were among six passengers who died when 56-meter (184-foot) luxury yacht went down. One crew member, the boat's chef, also died, while 15 people survived the disaster. They had gathered on the yacht to celebrate Lynch's acquittal.

Officials initially said the yacht was struck by a tornado over the water, known as a waterspout, but the weather phenomenon was re-identified as a downburst. Prosecutors in Italy are investigating the captain on possible charges including manslaughter.

The M4 is a motorway in the United Kingdom that connects London and South West England. It runs from London to South Wales and it is a crucial part of the English transport network.

The M4 was first proposed in 1927 and construction began in 1958. It was completed in 1971, running from London to Reading, Berkshire and later extending to South Wales.

The M4 is one of the major roads in the UK and a significant part of the economy. The M4 has been upgraded in certain sections and currently consists of 146 miles (235 km) of motorway.

The M4 is one of the safest motorways in the UK. According to the Department of Transport (DfT), the M4 had a collision rate of just 0.41 per million vehicle kilometres between 2017-2018. This is lower than the UK major-road average of 0.71.

To the West the M4 joins the M5 at M4 Junction 20 which heads north to Devon Cornwall and the South West of England.

The Western end of the M4 is in South Wales Junctions 23 to 48. Bridgend is on Junctions 25 to 37, M4 Junctions 44 and 45 for Swansea, Junctions 30 to 33 for Cardiff and Junctions 24 to 28 for Newport. 

 East M4

At the eastern end of the M4 is London, with Junctions for Slough, Reading, Newbury, Swindon and Bristol on the way to Wales in the West.
