Accommodations.

Walking in the aft door into a large saloon and galley all on the same level. Galley aft with a custom island with substantial storage for all your cruising necessities plus a built in trash can . Moving forward on the starboard side is a lounge chair and ottoman and lower helm station with a foldaway captains helm seat. To port is a settee and side table.

Going down into the cabins via 2 steps the master cabin is forward with twin beds(new mattress 2022) and a large head with stand alone shower.

The second cabin consists of Bunk beds and has its own private head and shower 

Air conditioning comprises of 3 a/c units 9,000 ,12,000 and a 16,000 BTU system all zoned to keep each area at the appropriate temperature.

The galley was remodelled at Lamb's' yacht center in 2019 which consisted of a Corian Beech Nuwood counter and island with 3 soft touch storage drawers ,trash can drawer and a chart drawer.The following appliances were installed at the same time

Heading up the flybridge on the Starboard side via a large stairway is the second helm station. Situated off to starboard with a captains chair, plus ample seating for guests and crew to relax. The windshield was replaced in 2020.A new Bimini was installed in 2024 which easily folds down to get under any bridges on the ICW or Erie Canal. 

To port as you go to the flybridge are a set of dinghy chocks (2020)and a Marquip electric dinghy crane with a 800 lb lift capacity.

During the fall of 2022/2023 the original Detroit Diesels were removed, including shafts, transmissions and original generator. The entire engine space was cleaned, new engine and generator mounts built, and the space painted prior to installation of new equipment.

Electrical And Batteries

Shore power was upgraded for use with a single 50 cord. 3 x175 watt solar panels were added onto the foredeck, designed by Hamilton Ferris Inc., which includes a 42 amp inverter and battery capacity to keep the all batteries charged while keeping all fridges and freezer working at all times when not on shore or generator power. Charging system is monitored via a Victron monitoring system.

House batteries consist of

• 8 x Trojan T145 6 volt, 215 AH each (860 ah)
• Starting batteries consist 2 x Sportsman 8D one per engine with combiner capability 1 Sportsman 8D generator battery

The charging system for all batteries is done by Magnum MS 2000, 2000 watt inverter/charger Sentry 12 volt/40 amp charger

Anchoring And Docking

Anchoring is made easy with an ideal windlass with vertical capstan and gypsy . There is a single 45 lb CQR anchor with 5/16 chain and rode plus a secondary Danforth D2000 .

She has the custom Huckins cleats on the bow ,amidships and port and starboard and on the transom.

Exploring the Niantic River

The protected Niantic River, which separates the Connecticut towns of East Lyme and Waterford, is a well-protected paddling venue, and offers plenty to see along the way. Paddlers can launch for free at the state launch facility in Waterford, near the Niantic inlet, as well as at Kiddie Beach on Keeny Cove.

On the East Lyme side, you’ll find a launch site at Cinni Park, just before the drawbridge, as well as at the end of Grand Street near Boats Inc. For a fee, you can launch and park at Three Belles Marina on Smith Cove (East Lyme side). Three Belles also rents Hobie kayaks.

Note: Inexperienced paddlers must use caution near the inlet, where currents can exceed five knots and boat traffic is heavy.

The below chart shows some interesting historic sites to check out on a circumnavigation of this important estuary.

• 1) Golden Spur Amusement Park: Site of the world-famous Diving Horses (1905-1924). The horses would jump into the water after climbing a ramp to the top of a 20-foot tower.
• 2) Boston Post Road Bridge: Car and trolley overpass (1905-1924). Trollies ran daily from New London to the Golden Spur Amusement Park.
• 3) Beckwith Shipyard site (early 1800s): Jason Beckwith began operation of this shipyard, originally located in nearby Keeny Cove, before the American Revolution. Four generations of the family produced hundreds of crafts, primarily fishing smacks, sloops and schooners. Jason, Jr. took over the business upon the death of his father, and his seven sons worked in the yard as ships’ carpenters. Two of those sons, James and Daniel, ran the yard after their father’s death, while two other sons, Gordon and Elisha, began a second yard at Strait’s Bridge, now known as the Golden Spur area. James and Daniel Beckwith, in response to a demand for larger vessels, moved the original shipyard to New London in the early stages of the Civil War.
• 4) Oswegatchie Hills: This privately held parcel of land, once a granite quarry, represents what might be the last undeveloped mile of coastal waterfront in Connecticut. Local groups want to protect it as a nature preserve.
• 5) Quarry Dock (1819): Site of a former barge dock that serviced the quarry in Oswegatchie Hills. Granite from the quarry was used in the construction of many famous buildings, many in New York City.
• 6) Saunders Point (1650): One of the oldest points of settlement in East Lyme, this site was occupied by the Nehantic tribe prior to the arrival of Europeans.
• 7) Pine Grove (late 1880s): Site of a former religious tent colony.
• 8) Old Stone House (1815): Built after the 1815 hurricane, this house still stands on the hill behind Three Belles Marina (formerly Bareuther’s Boat Yard).
• 9) Smith Cove: Former Nehantic settlement site.
• 10) National Guard Camp: Active for about 110 years.
• 11) White Storrs House: Site of skirmish in 1781 between militia and local residents trading with Long Island.
• 12) Boats Inc.: Former homestead of Avery Smith, developer of Niantic Village.
• 13) Railroad Tracks: The first single-rail track ran through Niantic in 1852.
• 14) Rope Ferry Site: Site of a rope-pulled ferry that operated in Colonial times.
• 15) Wigwam Woods: The shoreline from Keeny Cove to Rope Ferry was known as the “Wigwams,” and believed to be a former wintering area of the Nehantics. Several skeletons have been discovered along the banks following the various recent hurricanes.
• 16) Trolley Trestle (1905-1924): Former trestle used by trolley that ran between New London and the amusement park at Golden Spur.

'Beautiful Soul': Family Of Slain Meriden DOT Worker Grieves As Driver Faces More Charges

A 55-year-old Connecticut woman accused of crashing into a state Department of Transportation worker while intoxicated now faces more charges linked to the fatal crash this summer, authorities announced on Monday, Sept. 16.

New Haven County resident Denise Lucibello, of East Haven, is now charged with second-degree manslaughter, the New Haven Judicial District State's Attorney Office said. She was already accused of driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, and several traffic infractions. 

Andrew DiDomenico, 26, of Meriden, was working on the Wharton Brook Connector (the Exit 13 on-ramp) to I-91, in Wallingford on Friday, June 28, when Lucibello's car veered off the road and crashed into him on the shoulder, authorities said. 

Lucibello remained at the crash site but failed a field sobriety test after police said she showed signs of being impaired, the prosecutor said. 

Dozens of people posted memorials to DiDomenico on social media. 

DiDomenico's obituary said he enjoyed his job as a DOT maintainer, but his love for his family and New England sports teams were his true passions. 

Andrew possessed a kind and generous heart, whose beautiful soul will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He treasured all things sports. He loved Hunters Golf Course- his first job was at the Course as summer help maintaining the lawns. He was an avid golfer and found much enjoyment on the golf course. He played in the Monday Mens League at Hunters for the past 5 years. Andrew was a loyal fan of the N.Y. Yankees, the N.E. Patriots, Duke University basketball and recently cheered on his Boston Celtics to another World Championship. He treasured attending many sporting events with his "#1", his dad.

DiDomenico was a 2017 H.C. Wilcox Technical High School graduate and Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish parishioner. 

The City of Meriden said it would create a scholarship in DiDomenico's honor for a Wilcox Technical High School student. Donations can be made to the Andrew DiDomenico Scholarship Fund c/o 60 Edgemark Acres, Meriden, CT 06451.

A DOT coworker created a GoFundMe to help the DiDomenico family. It raised more than $22,000 of its $25,000 goal. Click here for more information on the campaign.
