Croatia Sailing Adventure: Split to Dubrovnik

8 days | explore croatia's stunning coastline from split to dubrovnik.

Young travellers exploring the island of Mljet off the Dalmation Coast in Croatia

Become immersed in Croatia's natural beauty while sailing the stunning Adriatic coast. Mix lazy days of swimming and beach going with time spent exploring medieval fortresses, sitting in lively restaurants, wandering cobbled streets and hiking to ancient ruins. Wind down in the evening and fall asleep onboard the boat, being lulled to sleep by the sound of lapping waves.

Trip overview

  • What better way to see the historic towns, protected forests and stunning islands of Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast than aboard a private yacht? All aboard for a week in paradise.
  • Explore beautiful Split, where tradition, modernity and a variety of European influences come together. A visit to the Diocletian’s Palace reveals some of the Adriatic Coast’s most important surviving Roman buildings.
  • Bliss out on Brac’s world famous Zlatni Rat beach, a spit of white sand jutting out into turquoise waters.
  • Opened to the public only in 1989, the island of Vis boasts coastal scenery and a military history just waiting to be discovered. Also, the local vugava wine is rather nice.
  • Stari Grad, Hvar’s Old Town, is quite literally one of the oldest towns in Europe, and a charming one at that. It provides a great base from which to explore the island.
  • A small zodiac (Dinghy) is used to transport passengers from the yacht to the mainland, with landings taking place at piers (dry landings) and on beaches (wet landings). Zodiacs can sometimes be awkward to climb in and out of, but a sense of humour and a can-do attitude is all you need.
  • This is an adventure on board a real yacht, which means living spaces, cabins, bathrooms and showers need to be shared with other passengers. Sleeping quarters can be relatively compact, but you will spend most of your time above board in the open air.
  • Please note that smooth sailing depends on the weather, so itinerary changes may occur at the last minute if the weather becomes unfavourable. You can trust your knowledgeable skipper to choose an alternative route or activity if any changes are made.

View the itinerary for departures between 01 January 2023 - 31 December 2024

Dobro Dosli! Welcome to Croatia. Your adventure begins in Split with a group meeting at 3 pm. If you arrive early, take the chance to see what makes Split the soul of Dalmatia. There are the impressive ruins of Diocletian's Palace, Split's most imposing structure, to explore or markets just outside the palace walls. After your meeting, you’ll head to the local supermarket to buy supplies for your trip, then board the yacht and sail to sunny Brac – the largest island in central Dalmatia. Take a leisurely cruise along the distinctly Mediterranean coast, soaking up the sunshine and the scenery. Then, weigh anchor and go for a dip in the sea or snorkel and spot sea anemones, crabs, sea urchins and small fish.

  • Overnight Yacht (1 night)

There are no meals included on this day.

Your skipper will collect the trip kitty of EUR 100 at the pre-departure meeting today.

If you have any special dietary requirements, please make sure you notify us at the time of booking so we can accommodate your requests. As we will be setting sail this afternoon, we highly recommend you arrive a couple of days early into Spilt to have time to explore.

The beauty of sailing is that each day is unique and, while we have a destination to reach, if the weather changes or something takes the group’s fancy, we are flexible on the day's itinerary. The itinerary is subject to change and may vary depending on weather. Your skipper will make the final call to ensure your safety at all times.

Your sailing time today will be approximately 3 hours.

After a breakfast onboard, bid farewell to Brac and set sail to Vis – the furthest island from the mainland. On the way, you might stop in for a swim near Milna or the island of Solta. When you arrive, you can take an optional tour to learn about the island’s history – passing between Greek, Roman, Venetian, Napoleonic, Austrian and Italian hands. Visit nuclear fallout shelters, churches and vantage points with great views across the ocean. If you like, you can also take an optional winery tour and indulge in a few glasses of the local vino.

  • Vis - Island tour - EUR50
  • Vis - Wine tour - EUR20

Your sailing time today will be approximately 3.5 hours.

Have breakfast onboard, then make your way slowly to Hvar. Along the way, you might stop at the Pakleni Islands or Stoncica for a swim. After arriving in Hvar you can wander around the towns, home to some wonderfully preserved Renaissance facades. If you like, hike past dramatic jagged limestone cliffs and undulating farms, ancient olive groves and fields of rosemary and lavender. There’s also an option to cross the island by car to Hvar Town – often known as the ‘San Tropez of Croatia’.

Your sailing time today will be approximately 2 hours.

Make breakfast onboard the boat this morning and then set sail for the day. Make a stop around Lovista or Scedro for a morning swim, and then cruise along to Lastovo. On the way, explore some of the 46 islets and reefs around the island’s edges. Over 70% of Lastovo is forested, making it the perfect place to stretch your legs after a day spent at sea. There's also Venetian architecture from the 15th and 16th centuries and high number of churches to find in your free time.

Your sailing time today will be approximately 5 hours.

Sail through the jewel-like waters to Korcula this morning, stopping at Badija or Polace for a refreshing morning swim. Greeks settled in Korcula in the 6th century BC, but the town was also occupied by the Romans, Slavs and then the Venetians between 1420 and 1797. Even Napoleon was ruler for a while! As a result of all these influences, Korcula has a cosmopolitan Old Town. Alongside the idyllic beaches, you’ll have plenty of options for your free time. Ask your leader for the best dinner recommendations for a good feed.

Your sailing time today will be approximately 2.5 hours.

After breakfast onboard, set sail for the island of Mljet, stopping for a swim along the way. Legendary in ancient history as the island where the shipwrecked Odysseus lived for seven years, today the island is a haven of lush national park, forests and small villages. Since Greek sailors sought haven here from storms, the island has been inhabited by Illyrians, Romans, Slavs and Avars. In the 13th century the island was given to the Benedictine order who built a monastery in the middle of one of the island's western lakes – Veliko Jezero. When you arrive, perhaps rent a bike and cycle through the national park. Tonight, you could try the local wine – the fields and vineyards that dot the island are the foundation of the local economy, with Mljet's villagers producing wine and olive oil as they have been for hundreds of years.

  • Mljet - Bike rental (per hour) - EUR20
  • Mljet - Mljet National Park Entrance fee - EUR15

Depart the picturesque Mljet and head to the hidden paradise of Elafiti Islands. Made up of three main islands – Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan – the olive groves, citrus trees and ancient ruins will provide a scenic backdrop for lunch. Then, sail on towards Dubrovnik, you will arrive at marina near Komolac. You can then head into Dubrovnik for your final night with the group – there’s a regular bus service – or stay close and enjoying dinner and drinks at the lovely marina. The choice is all yours!

Your sailing time today will be approximately 6 hours.

After breakfast aboard the yacht, your trip will end around 10 am. There are no activities planned for today and you’re free to depart at any time. If you’re flying out of Croatia today, please don’t book a flight earlier than 3 pm in case your arrival is delayed due to weather conditions.

Please note that the sailing times listed above are a guide only and subject to change. They are dependent on weather and sailing conditions.

Overnight boat (7 nights)

Dates and availability

Important notes.

This trip is onboard a mono hull sailing yacht. We use 2 types of sailing yachts for these departures, an Omega Kiss and an Aqua Kiss. Both yachts are of a similar standard

START TIME: This trip starts on Day 1 in Split at 3pm.

ACCOMMODATION ONBOARD THIS SAILING YACHT This trip is accommodated entirely on board a yacht of between 48ft to 52ft. A typical yacht for 8 travellers is equipped with 4 double share cabins, 2/3 shared bathrooms and 2 showers. Our boats are real yachts and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible.

Rooms are allocated on arrival by our skipper according to group composition, which means it is not possible to reserve or guarantee any specific berth or cabin. Single passengers will be paired up with another passenger of the same gender, this will mean sharing a double cabin with a double mattress. Everyone including the skipper shares the bathrooms on board.

While not everyone may feel entirely comfortable living in such close quarters, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort from cramped living conditions is more than made up for by the whole experience.

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION: Please note that the majority of our sailing trips start and/or finish at a marina or port. If you have pre-booked any additional accommodation through us, you will need to make your own way to the joining point on day 1 and from the finish point on the final day. We do not provide transfers between hotels and the port/marina. Please check the Essential Trip Information for details.

HOT WEATHER: Summer temperatures can reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, which can be uncomfortable for those not used to the heat. Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.

MINIMUM AGE: The minimum age on this trip is 15. Please note that triple cabins are not available. If travelling with a child, the child will need to share with one of the adults, and the other adult will share with another adult passenger or purchase a single supplement.

PASSPORT DETAILS: Please provide full passport details at time of booking including exact name as per passport, date of birth, nationality, issue and expiry dates as these are essential for booking services on this trip.

TRIP KITTY: On this trip it's compulsory to contribute to a kitty of EUR100 per person. The kitty is an on-ground payment put into a central fund managed by travellers. It helps fund for breakfast and lunch on the boat and other small items such as ice, water, snacks and drinks. Travellers are responsible for the preparation of these meals onboard and to shop at port where supermarkets are often very close to the mooring. Kitty amounts are subject to change to reflect local price increases. On day 1, the skipper will talk through the kitty and how it will be managed (by yourself or fellow travellers) The kitty will be collected when you arrive at the welcome meeting or in stages throughout your trip.

Want an in-depth insight into this trip? Essential Trip Information provides a detailed itinerary, visa info, how to get to your hotel, what's included - pretty much everything you need to know about this adventure and more.

33 Responses to “Ferry Catamaran Dubrovnik – Sipan – Mljet – Korcula – Lastovo”

hello. I’m travelling to Croatia for 1 1/2 weeks end of June. We want to travel down from vis, Hvar & Korcula then onto Dubrovnik. Are there daily ferries that run between the islands? Hope you can help, as cant seem to find any one timetabel that links them all up.

hi gee, no, there is no one ferry line that connects these islands. from vis you have to sail to split to continue your journey to hvar and korcula, as well as to dubrovnik. i hope this helps a bit…

I am planning my Croatia trip in June. I have following problem to ask:

1. Dubonvik to Korcula Is there any ship sail on 19/ 6 (tue)?

Hi Katy, for time beeing, assume there is no ferry on that day sailing from Dubrovnik to Korcula. Take bus instead : at 2pm to Orebic (then 15 minutes ferry to Korcula) or 3pm bus that runs from Dubrovnik ot Korcula ( no need to change in Orebic) See these pages :

http://www.korculainfo.com/ferries-korcula.htm http://www.korculainfo.com/buses-roads-korcula.htm

could you tell me more about the bus start at 2pm from Dubonvik –> Orebic , when will the bus arrive Orebic?

then when can i catch the ferry, how often is the ferry from Orebic to Korcula?

Thanks, Katy

kathy, it arrives in orebic about 4.30 pm / 4.45pm

in orebic, take small, foot passengers only ferry to korcula : http://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/orebic-korcula-passenger-only-service.html it is frequent service – easy and straight forward. this is photo of that ferry : http://www.korculainfo.com/gallery/ferries/lovor1.html

Hi. What is the best way to get from Vis to Mljet on Thursday July 26th? Many thanks, Andrea

Is this ferry running now??? I am arriving in Dubrovnik area around the 10 Sept 07… Or do I need to look for other ferry service?

THANK YOU — LOLLY

Andrea – you have to sail back to Split and then continue to Mljet. No other way is available.

Lolly – this ferry will still sail in September but only to some destination – check timetable…

Hi, Can you tell me if there is a daily ferry service from Dubrovnik to Korcula and vice versa every day throughout August? Thanks Kevin

Just a bit confused about ferries! We’re hoping to spend a day or so in Mljet in July. Is there a ferry on Thursday 10 July from Dubrovnik? Many thanks.

Do you publish your Korcula Blog on Twitter? Hvala! Chris

@chris – yes i do: twitter.com/korculainfo

Hello! I’d like to from Dubrovnik to Miljet on October 28th and return on the 31st of October. The main ferry doesn’t run after the 25th so I am wondering what my best option is.

Thanks in advance!

nimo, there is a daily ferry all year round from dubrovnik to sobra on mljet island. It is a line 9807 run by TP Line.

Ana, get in touch with Tankerska Plovidba shipping company to check what is available for 2022. They run this ferry. web: tankerska.hr

Will there be a ferry operating February 20, 21 and 22 from Split to Dubrovnik?

Hi Mary, to get from split to dubrovik by ferry in February you will have to change in Korcula and overnight in Korcula. If this is not suitable for you, then bus from split to dubrovnik is better option. From April to October you can travel on direct ferry route.

Hi I would like to take a car ferry to Korcula from Dubrovnik October 8. Is one available or where do we need to drive to to find a car ferry? Thanks

Christine, there is no direct car ferries from Korcula to Dubrovnik. You will take ferry from Korcula to Orebic https://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/ferry-orebic-korcula/ and drive to Dubrovnik

2 couples need a ferry from Dubrovnik to Korcula on May 23. Is there only one at 16:00?

We also need a ferry from Korcula to Split on May 24. Is the 6:00 am ferry the only option?

karen, there are two more optioins, the best is to check with croatiaferries.com
