Croatia yacht charter.

Croatia has undergone a remarkable transformation into a luxury yacht charter destination over the last decade, and it does not seem to be slowing down!

With a growing infrastructure accommodating larger yachts (the above 150-foot fleet is increasing rapidly), competitive pricing, and a plethora of stunning islands in close proximity, it offers a compelling alternative to destinations like Greece.

A major plus for Croatia yacht charter is its favorable legislation, which allows for larger groups on charters (more than 12 guests), a rarity within the EU!!

Croatia Yacht Charter Types

Crewed yacht charters in Croatia include, at minimum, a captain and at least 1 stewardess. On a larger motor yacht, the number of crew can be higher than the number of guests (including engineers, bosun, and additional stewardesses)

How much does a yacht charter in croatia cost.

The price of a Croatian yacht rental depends on several factors. There are the obvious ones, such as yacht charter type, size, crew size, and level of luxury , and then there are the less obvious ones, such as tax, APA, fuel (which varies a lot depending on the itinerary and engine fuel consumption), and crew gratuity .

This comprehensive guide breaks down the factors that affect yacht charter prices, typical price ranges, and the importance of understanding any hidden costs you should be aware of.

It also provides tips for budgeting your trip , ensuring you are fully informed and prepared for your charter.

TIP: Chartering during the high season (July and August) is more expensive than in the low season when you can find great deals . Booking in advance or looking for last-minute deals can also affect prices.

Selecting the Right Crewed Yacht for Your Croatian Charter Vacation

There are quite a few factors to consider when looking for the right Crewed Yacht for your Croatian Yacht Charter Vacations. First and foremost, you have to consider your budget -Sailing yachts and catamarans tend to be significantly cheaper than motor yachts, especially when it comes to fuel consumption which plays a big role on a one-week Croatia yacht charter.

But you also have to pick the right yacht for your needs AND your itinerary; here, things like cruising speed, amenities, cabin layouts, and water toys matter.

Let’s take a closer look at the different yacht types and their advantages or…

Croatia Motor Yacht Charters

For those opting for ultimate luxury and speed , we always recommend chartering a Motor Yacht in Croatia. The Dalmatian Coast is home to Croatia’s largest marina, accommodating large motor yachts and superyachts with ease. Docking at Dalmacija Marina, among many of Croatia’s finest Yachts, is a remarkable experience in itself.

The Croatia Motor Yacht Charters in our catalogs are typically locally owned  and often captained by the owner himself or the owner’s son. This is a huge benefit, guaranteeing a top charter experience based on extensive experience and local knowledge .

Croatia catamaran charters.

There are several reasons for catamarans’ growing popularity in Croatia, one of which is their benefits in comfortable cruising. Catamarans are stable and graceful on the water and we therefore often recommend them for people who suffer from seasickness .

Their efficient design makes them noticeably faster than most sailing monohulls, and their shallow draft is a significant advantage, allowing for navigating in shallow waters and the option to anchor much closer to the beach.

A Catamaran Croatia also has the advantage of having roomy living quarters making them ideal for corporate team-building events, family charters, or a summer vacation with a group of friends.

Croatia sailing yacht charters.

If you wish to sail Croatia, you might consider a sailing yacht. Today, modern sailing yachts offer similar amenities to a motor yacht – except for the speed, which is lower, but so is the price! And, of course, it relies more on the wind, which can be both an advantage and a limitation. While motor sailors can achieve an average cruising speed of 15-20 knots , wind-powered sailboats usually cruise at 8-12 knots when the sailing conditions are good.

Croatia has  small tides throughout the season—1-2 feet depending on the region, so the deeper draft of a sailing yacht is not an issue.

Based on our experience, large groups or families with kids often prefer the soundless and relaxing sailing experience  in the Dalmatian islands.

Croatia Luxury Yacht Charters

When we talk about luxury yachts here, we refer to larger motor yachts or superyachts with high-end amenities and large crews, often with specialized staff such as fitness instructors, massage therapists, and more.

Think Jacuzzi , Spa rooms, Saunas, onboard Gyms and Cinema rooms, large selections of water toys with one or multiple jet skis , fully stocked bars and dancefloors, and we could go on.

Still, the price range within the luxury yacht Croatia category is quite wide, starting around €50,000 per week and reaching into the millions for a high-end mega yacht.

Croatia Large Group Charters (12-71 Guests)

If you’re looking for a yacht charter that can accommodate a large group ( more than 12 guests ), Croatia is the place for you!!

Croatia’s favorable legislation, which allows for larger groups on charters (more than 12 guests), is a rarity within the EU !! -i.e., Greece has a limit of 12 people per charter for all non-cruise ships. And this is the norm.

When it comes to large group yacht charters in Croatia, the options are plentiful. Most charters can accommodate between 12-20 people , but it’s not difficult to find a charter for 30 people, and there are even options for more. For instance, yachts like VARIETY VOYAGER can accommodate a whole 71 guests!

Louis was great from beginning to end and walked me through the whole process. He helped me find a great boat that fit within our time and cost preferences. He explained the differences between the different builds and the pros and cons. Once we selected the boat, he explained and walked me through the whole booking process and answered all my questions. Finally, he checked in with me before, during, and after the charter to make sure everything met our expectations. I can’t recommend Louis enough if you are planning a charter, and I will definitely be in touch for our next trip!

What is a crewed yacht charter?

A crewed yacht charter is a vacation where you rent a luxury yacht with a dedicated crew, including a captain and often a chef, stewardess, and other crew members . Imagine lounging on the deck of a luxurious yacht, your every need attended to by a professional crew. Sounds enticing, doesn't it? That's the promise of a crewed yacht charter.

Reasons for choosing Luxury yacht charter with a Crew in Croatia

Luxurious yachts equipped for comfort.

Regardless of the type of boat (sailing boat, catamaran, or motor yacht), crewed yachts tend to be larger and more luxurious than bareboat charters. They feature larger cabins, a comfortable spacious saloon, full equipment, and wide sun decks for sunbathing and relaxing. The boat itself has more equipment, not just for your personal comfort but for your leisure activities as well – tender, kayaks, stand-up paddles, snorkelling equipment, windsurfing are just some of the water toys at your disposal . Some even offer scuba diving, jet skis, or water skiing.

Dedicated Crew at Your Service

The secret of an enjoyable crewed yacht charter is the crew. They welcome you on board and take care of all your wishes during your vacation. The crew is always accommodated in a separate area, ensuring privacy, but they're also present at all times to cater to any of your needs. The number of crew members depends on the size of the boat – there's always the captain of the yacht and the hostess , but on larger boats, a chef, a deckhand, or even a guard is at your disposal.

Yacht Charter Croatia

Breathtaking aerial view of Hvar's marina, a top destination for yacht charters in Croatia

Whether it is the more than 1,000 islands and secluded bays that beckon to you or the east-meets-west luxury of the Dalmatian Coast that’s calling you, Croatia is one of the most popular yacht charter destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean.

You’ll benefit from the fact that Croatia has become increasingly popular amongst the yacht crowd as many new beach clubs and restaurants have popped up. The beautiful coastline now is a charter lifestyle to rival the French Riviera. Split, Dubrovnik, Hvar, and Brac are just a few of the hot spots worth stepping ashore for on a Croatia luxury yacht rental. Along with its cosmopolitan offerings, the southern coast harbors glorious remnants of the past – Roman, Venetian, and Austrian influences ooze from the architecture and cuisine. The heritage is evident wherever you cruise.

During your Croatia superyacht charter, when you do choose to step ashore from your floating paradise, there are plenty of cobble-stoned streets and ancient promenades to enjoy. If you want to see from your yacht and not be seen, the Dalmatian Coast is for you. It is a place to simply sit back, relax, and just be on the water. Sailing from Dubrovnik north to Split, the southern Dalmatian Coast harbors a hotchpotch of cultures. Discover the Roman ruins and historical sites from Venetian and Ottoman chapters in the history of this region’s past. When the yacht cruises further north, be sure to tender ashore to some of the stunning Kornati archipelago’s chain of islands with unspoiled beaches and shallow bays.

Best Places to Charter in Croatia

Best places to go on a charter yacht in Croatia:

  • Mljet Island : Known for its unspoiled nature
  • Hvar Island : A hotspot for the jet set, offering vibrant nightlife
  • Paklinski Islands : Ideal for unwinding after an active day
  • Dubrovnik, Trogir, Pula, Rovinj, Split, KorÄŤula, BraÄŤ : These cities are unmissable stops for superyacht charters
  • Krka National Park : This protected area boasts spectacular natural scenery, wildlife, and historic sites
  • Ĺ olta : Close to Split, Ĺ olta offers tranquil promenades leading to secret beaches

The waters that lap the Dalmatian Coast and its 1,100 islands are warm and inviting. You will be spoiled for choice by the myriad of islands, some of which are very well-established – Brac, Hvar and KorÄŤula being the most popular. But discovering their smaller neighbors, which remain quiet, provides you with a world away from the bustling waterfronts when renting a yacht in Croatia. And then there are the fashionable walled cities of Dubrovnik and Split, both offering stunning sights that you simply cannot miss. Here, when you do choose to disembark and head ashore, you can experience urban city centers surrounded by ancient walled fortresses. Dine at lavish restaurants, spend some time shopping in both the small markets and high-end establishments and, if the mood strikes, grab cocktails at some of the area’s coolest spots to round out an exceptional Croatia yacht charter.

4 benefits of a crewed yacht charter in croatia.

December 5, 2020

4 minute read

Even before the ideal superyacht charter vacation starts, the members of your crew will begin preparing for guest`s arrival. All the provisioning and necessary arrangements are over before guests step aboard the superyacht. This means you will start forming a relationship with the crew the very instant you board your crewed yacht charter in Croatia.

After the first day, bonds will be formed and you will no longer look at the crew as just people at work; they will become companions on a journey, confidantes and individuals you trust with your safety and the safety of your charter party. Your expert crew will lovingly tend to your every desire and need,  always fulfilling them with a smile on their face.

On the other hand, if you’d prefer not to be disturbed and to create a totally private atmosphere, your crew will make themselves nearly invisible, being seen in only the most practical of moments.

The multiskilled yacht crew will always do what you desire

The crew of a yacht charter is made up of experts with a wide range of abilities. They are much more than just sailors; they can be coaches, fitness instructors, divers, tutors, guides, and whatever you would like. They tend to every vital technical task in order to realize your ideal charter holiday when you are basking in the sun or exploring hidden coves.

More crew members make it much easier to keep a superyacht cleaner; the same level of cleanliness is not possible in land-based establishments. The crew will clean the cabins at least twice a day, do laundry, polish handrails, scrub the decks and keep a tidy and hygienic environment overall.

Besides this, while you are in a yoga class with one crew member, your better half can dive with another, and your youngest can watch a cartoon with a third. That is why chartering a superyacht is by far the most iconic vacation choice in the world.

You will benefit from a 0-24 service on your crewed yacht charter in Croatia

Whether you are an early bird who wakes up at 5 a.m. or a night owl, the crew will make sure someone is always on demand. They can prepare an early breakfast or a late supper, transport you to and from a beach party or special events on the coast, or simply sit with you whilst stargazing from a truly breathtaking place. There is always one member of the crew on watch, in case of emergencies. You cannot expect this kind of treatment in a land-based villa or a cruise ship.

crewed yacht charter in croatia crew serving guests

A passionate crew will make all the difference on your holiday

Every guest is special for members of a superyacht crew – you are not just another face in a sea of people, as is the case for other types of vacations. They conduct their daily responsibilities with love, care, and affection. Because of the enthusiasm they bring into their jobs, the crew is always focused and present. Hospitality is always of the highest quality that money can buy.

On a luxury yacht, you are the star!

It is not only their job, it is their calling & passion

The highest standards of professionalism will always be a prerogative on your crewed yacht charter in Croatia. With a trained crew, be sure that your charter holiday will always fit your every need. A yacht crew is always more motivated than their colleagues on land, mainly because a yacht crew is a tightly knit group that holds bigger responsibilities. They are compensated more, therefore more is expected of them. This in turn implies that they are more educated and experienced in their craft.

Since they have to fulfil multiple roles, they are extremely multiskilled, making them a cut above a standard stewardess or assistant in villas or 5-star hotels. Remember that for your yacht crew, yachting is not just their job, it is their calling and passion.

Sacrifices are constant in the yachting business, and the crew pays the price gladly, so they could help you enjoy every minute of your charter holiday. You will receive not just a 5-star service, but rather a service above a standard luxury package you would expect from similar services.

klobuk yacht charter crew members

The short time you will share a superyacht with your crew, you will become close, as it is the law of the sea that brings people together. Your crew knows this fact, making them not just workers, but rather companions, tasked to make your superyacht charter holiday perfect. One thing always remains true: your superyacht charter crew is the best at what they do because they feel a strong passion for yachting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to rent a boat for a short period of only a few days.

We usually do weekly reservations on our yachts, especially when the inquired weeks are in between taken reservations. To reserve on a few days can be also possible if the reservation date is before or after any other reservations. For this option, we suggest contacting our team to discuss possibilities and rates for the yacht charter.

What are the most popular destinations for Yacht Charter in Croatia?

Among the most popular destinations for a yacht charter in Croatia, you will find many places from the southern part of the Croatian coast. The most popular destinations include Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar, and KorÄŤula. We can not forget the central and northern parts of the Croatian coast which include Kornati, Zadar, Rovinj, and Opatija. Usually these places are less crowded and fit for more relaxing cruises.

What is a Crewed Charter?

A crewed charter is a premium yacht rental experience where your journey is enhanced by a professional crew. An experienced captain is responsible for navigation and safety, complemented by a personal chef, deckhands, and additional staff, all committed to guaranteeing a flawless and relaxing voyage. The captain and crew offer discreet, high-quality service, balancing attentive care and safety with respect for your privacy.

Can I book a single bed/stateroom?

Unfortunately, we offer only rentals of the full yacht capacity with its crew. As we are having more and more questions about single beds we might change this in the future and reserve a couple of weeks for single bed/ stateroom reservations. With that in mind feel free to send an inquiry, and we might come up with something for you.

Are food and drinks included?

Food and drinks are not usually included in the price. Each yacht has its offer for food and beverage options, and you can find them under the section "Detailed pricing" on the page of each Yacht. Usually, there are different food options like full board or half board, and many beverage packages like all-inclusive, non-alcoholic, and other packages that can be added to your charter reservation.

Visitors to Croatia are typically impressed by the sheer beauty of this island country, represented by a combination of lush greenery, fantastic history, numerous UNESCO heritage sites, rich culture, fresh Mediterranean cuisine and a lively atmosphere. There are many ways of exploring this Eastern Mediterranean paradise, but there is only one way of exploring it in a true style, ultimate luxury and unprecedented comfort - and that is by means of a Croatia yacht charter. Among the favourite yacht charter destinations in the Mediterranean , Croatia provides travellers on luxury superyachts with a wide selection of various activities, breath-taking destinations, fine cuisine and friendly, welcoming locals.

The Cost To Charter a Yacht in Croatia:

Croatia yacht charter prices vary according to the size, style and age of the yacht. Our luxury superyacht charter yachts in Croatia rent from 30,000 Euro to over 1,000,000 per week, plus expenses, in the form of an advanced provisioning allowance (APA). Conversely, smaller 'all inclusive' type vacations cost between Euro 15,000 to 50,000 per week.

Top Croatia Luxury Yacht Charter Highlights:

Lovers of island-hopping will get their fair share when visiting Croatia. And what better way to explore islands than by yacht? With hundreds of unspoiled islands along the Dalmatian coast, there are plenty of hideaways as well as vibrant hot-spots to choose from. Whether you are into a bustling night-life or secluded anchorages, Croatia has everything and anything for all. The Northern Adriatic and the Kornati Archipelago generally offer more serenity with the Southern Croatian coastline being livelier and more energetic. Here's an introduction of the main spots to consider visiting:

Brac is the third largest island in Croatia and the largest in Dalmatia. It is perhaps the most famous thanks to the small village called Bol and it's very photogenic Golden Horn beach. The island is covered in pine forests, olive groves and vast vineyards with a somewhat romantic feel to it. It has a wealth of cultural and historical heritage dating back to the prehistoric times, unique cuisine and lovely beaches. Brac is separated from mainland Croatia by the 5 to 13 km wide BraÄŤ Channel. The island’s tallest peak is a respectable 778 meters high (Vidova gora, or Mount St. Vid) making it the highest island point in the Adriatic Sea. Brac has a permanent population of 14,436 and its biggest town is called Supetar, with more than 3,300 inhabitants.

With its UNESCO Heritage site the 'Old Town Dubrovnik', Dubrovnik is a must stopover on any Croatia yacht charter. Step into the world of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque walking the narrow cobbled streets awing at the fascinating architecture this beautiful city has on offer. After a day of culture and history, enjoy a fabulous meal in one of the many fine-dining restaurants recommended by your Captain and the crew, followed by a cocktail or two with other jet-sets in an exclusive night club. If loud music and dancing is not your thing, you could sample some of Croatia's excellent wines in one of the relaxed and quaint little wine bars or sip on a late night coffee watching the passersby. Dubrovnik's high stone city walls are a trademark of this city, and other attractions such as Luza Square, Stradun, Sponza Palace, Orlando's Column, the City Hall, the National Theatre, the Rector's Palace, the Bishop's Palace and the grand facade of the Baroque Cathedral are all well worth visiting.

Hvar, a gorgeous Croatian island, is a popular stop-over for luxury yacht charterers and superyacht owners. It is also known as the Queen of the Dalmatian Islands. Hvar Town prides itself on several stunning Gothic palaces, romantic marble stone streets, 13th-century walls as well as plenty of fantastic night-clubs, bars, up-market restaurants and cafes. Hvar is a great destination for families or friends looking for quality service. There are also fantastic beaches as well as, of course, the beautiful ancient architecture, history and cultural heritage. Located off the Dalmatian coast, lying between the islands of BraÄŤ, Vis and KorÄŤula the Island is around 68 km (42.25 miles) in length, with a high east-west ridge of Mesozoic limestone and dolomite. More about

Well known for its traditional Knights' dance celebrating the Turkish assaults on the island, Korcula is one of the destinations to include in your Croatia yacht charter itinerary. This beautiful island, covered with lush green forests of Aleppo pine, cypress and oak trees welcomes its visitors with a colourful cultural heritage and interesting legends. Stroll the enchanting narrow cobbled streets of the town of Korcula, surrounded by 13th-century walls. It's sixth largest island in Croatia, at 20 miles long and between 4 and 5 miles wide on average. This island is known for it's forest the ancient Greeks called the island Black Korcula (Kerkyra melaina).

Approaching Mljet aboard your Croatia motor yacht or sailing yacht you will be witnessing one of the most beautiful and greenest islands of the Adriatic. Mljet is also home to the Mljet National Park boasting two interconnecting salt-lakes of Veliko Jazero and Malo Jazero. The lakes are proclaimed unique geological and oceanographic phenomenons of worldwide importance, with origins dating back 10, 0000 years. An interesting fact about these lakes is that they were freshwater lakes up until the Christian era. Beautiful rich forests descend all the way down to the lakes, thus creating an impression of an unspoiled natural environment. The Benedictine Monastery of St. Mary from the 12th century is situated on the Big Lake, and represents an important part in the history which dates back to the Illyrian tribes, the Roman Empire and the Republic of Dubrovnik.

Visitors on luxury yacht charters travel to Pula to admire its magnificent roman ruins that incorporate remains of an ancient roman amphitheatre, still standing as an imposing structure on the higher point of the city port. The city is located at the southern tip of the Istria peninsula with a great tradition in fishing shipbuilding and wine making. There are beautiful beaches running almost one hundred miles along the stunning coastline, as well as outstanding restaurants, bars, boutiques and souvenir shops in town. There are many events organised throughout the year in Pula, with one of the most famous events being the International Film Festival. For hiking enthusiasts, the city is surrounded by the lush Brijuni National Park.

Split (or Spalato in Italian), with its Adriatic feel and ancient Roman roots, is another popular stopover for Croatia boat charterers and the second largest city in Croatia. Boasting of a unique cultural heritage and various events, Split is a fantastic holiday destination in any season. A meeting point of modern lifestyle with traditionalism, this city is always vibrating with life and energy. Here you will find UNESCO's Diocletian's Palace as well as numerous bars, night clubs, exclusive restaurants, high-fashion boutiques and other fun places to visit.

Intriguing history and cultural heritage make Sibenik another destination worthwhile visiting. The archipelago of the Sibenik Riviera is made up of 242 islands, islets and reefs boasting of picturesque coves, pristine sea and tranquility. In this area you will find the Krka and Kornati national parks, and the towns of Sibenik, Vodice, Primosten, Rogoznica and the island of Murter being perhaps the most renowned to visitors. Sibenik town is located in a gorgeous bay, where the river Krka flows into the sea. Historical monuments to visit in Sibenik include Cathedral of St Jacob, St Krsevan church, St. Francis church, the city hall and the St Michael, St Ivan, Subidavac and St Nicholas fortresses.

Sukosan is a picturesque little town located in the Zlatna Luka bay, about 7km south-east of Zadar. Sukosan is known for its vineyards, olive groves and farming as well as a sought after destination among sailors thanks to its marina Dalmacija - the largest marina of the Adriatic Coast. The marina represent a meeting point between two important vacation hot spots - Sukosan and Bibinje, both renowned for their rich history and colourful traditions, as well as an important stopover for yachtsman and sailors. Interesting monuments to visit in Sukosan include the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, situated in the centre of the old village and dating back to 1650. Other historical sites include the church of St Cassian, All Saints Church, Crkva Sv. Martina, The Upper Gate, or the 15th century Archdiocesan mansion - Palac.

Trogir represents one of the oldest cities on the Adriatic coast in Croatia, with the main 'centre' of Trogir being a small island located between the hills and the coast of the island of Ciovo. The entire Trogir Riviera is made up of 20 islands, islets, small counties and little villages, making this area a lovely destination to visit aboard a luxury yacht. Its rich history was built upon the old Greek, Roman and Venetian culture, offering plenty of churches, towers, fortresses and other monuments to visit. Torgir is also on the list of UNESCO world heritages sites.

Also located on the Trogir Riviera is the small and quaint little fishing town of Vinisce. The first mention of Vinisce dates back to 1272, although it is believed that it was inhabited much earlier. There are numerous beautiful churches to visit with the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary being the most important, as well as the church of St Antun Padovanski from the 18th century. Several beautiful bays can be found around Vinisce with attractive pebble and sand beaches. Yacht charterers will find a good selection of lovely restaurants, cafes, bars as well as souvenir shops. Vinisce is a great location for surfing, swimming, sunbathing, snorkelling or simply relaxing enjoying its warm Mediterranean atmosphere.

FUN IN THE WATER

Yacht charterers travelling to Croatia will find a huge selection of beaches, from small coves with pebbles and rocks through to beautiful secluded sandy beaches that can only be approached by a boat. The sea is crystal clear and, as opposed to many Mediterranean coastlines, still teaming with underwater life - so get your snorkelling and diving gear out and ask your Captain and crew for the best areas to explore under water. As well as diving and sunbathing, there are plenty of other water activities to engage in. Luxury yachts available for rent in Croatia all include a good selection of various water toys which are at guests' disposal. Yacht tenders, jet skis, water skis, donuts, bananas, water slides and other toys can be found aboard these vessels - please, ask our brokers for the full list of amenities and extras aboard your preferred boat.

MOUTH-WATERING EXPERIENCES

If you are passionate about fine cuisine and wine, be prepared to indulge in a variety of Mediterranean produce and dishes while on your vacation. One of the perks of hiring a Croatia based yacht is having your 'personal' chef on board. Superyacht Chefs are accustomed to creating high-quality dishes made of the best and finest ingredients on the market, and often source fresh produce from the local growers and producers. They are highly trained individuals with years of training and experience in fine-dining restaurants or five-star hotels. Prior to embarking on your holiday, in order to create a personalised menu and stock up on all necessary ingredients, you will be asked about your meal preferences, allergies, intolerance or desires. Croatia coastal region is mainly represented by fresh seafood and fish, accompanied by fresh salads and various vegetables, and the use of locally produced olive oil. The dishes are often paired with fine Dalmatian wines from the local vine-growers and producers. You will find a large Mediterranean influence and a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

CROATIA'S UNESCO HERITAGE SITES

Renowned for its rich culture and heritage, Croatia is home to seven sites that have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. First one is the Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Porec, with the earliest constructions dating back to 313. The basilica features outstanding mosaics and tiled illustration. The Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik is the second site on the list and represents a cultural mix of Northern Italy, Dalmatia and Tuscany of the 15th and 16th centuries. Trogir, situated northwest of Split boasts beautiful Romanesque churches and Venetian-era Renaissance and Baroque constructions. Split's Diocletian's Palace is another UNESCO monument and a historical complex built in the 3rd and 4th centuries by Roman emperor Diocletian. Moving onto the island of Hvar, although unknown to many tourist, Stari Grad Plain is also on the UNESCO list. This is an ancient stone wall that divides the land into twenty-four plots of grapes and olives, which have been continuously used for the past 2400 years. The Old City of Dubrovnik is also popular with discerning yacht charter tourists, with its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries and palaces, as well as fabulous atmosphere, lovely cafes, bars and a vibrant nightlife. The seventh UNESCO Heritage site are the Plitvice Lakes, located inland Croatia.

NATURAL PARKS IN CROATIA

There are numerous beautiful natural parks in Croatia well worth visiting when holidaying on a Croatia superyacht charter. Located on the western coast of Istria, National Park Brijuni consists of two larger and twelve smaller islands. The islands, in addition to their astonishing natural beauty, are renowned for their important cultural heritage which goes back to the Roman and the Byzantine eras. Represented by 140 islands, islets and reefs, the Kornati archipelago draws visitors, and in particular sailing and boating enthusiasts, thanks to the distinctive shapes of reefs and crags, and the imposing high cliffs.

Mljet National Park on the island of Mljet is perhaps the most significant protected area on the Southern Dalmatian coast. Mljet island is regarded as one of the most alluring islands to visit in Croatia, with the 12th century Benedictine monastery being one of its cultural heritage attractions. Krka with its seven amazing waterfalls is another famous and popular national park in Croatia, which deserves a day-trip inland. In addition to the waterfalls, historical monuments such as the Franciscan monastery on the little island of Visovac and the Krka Orthodox monastery are also sought-after attractions for visitors. Renowned for peculiar karstic formations - Hajducki kukovi and Rozanski kukovi, the Northern Velebit National Park offers biggest selection of flora and fauna in Croatia. There is also a pothole Lukina Jama (Luka's pothole) or a lovely botanical garden to visit.

Northern Velebit National Park is a fantastic place for hiking and trekking, offering unparalleled views of the Kvarner islands from the trail. Plitvicka Jazera is perhaps the most famous Croatian National Park and only one of eight on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The park is made up of sixteen small lakes joined by waterfalls and surrounded by dense forests. Plitvicka Jazera (or Plitvice Lakes) is located inland Croatia and can be visited on a day-trip. Another Croatian natural wonder is the Plaklenica National Park where yacht charterers with passion for hiking and tracking will find their peace. Croatia Yacht Charter Reviews with 12knots

Oscar Serra

“We tried to make the most of it, but it was far from ideal”

Hey Grigory, thanks for asking. The boat was not in good condition. For example, there were no mooring, deck or motoring lights, so we feared a boat would hit us while we slept, and were not complying with the law while sailing at night. The anchor w…

The charter was excellent, everything perfect. The boat was in super condition (brand new), and very clean. The staff was helpful, and very kind. We enjoyed the trip very much and are looking forward to our next booking.

“Everything was great! The boat was perfect for our needs”

Dear Grigory, Everything was great! The boat was perfect for our needs and the skipper, Slavin, was really friendly. The only downside was that the boat was late getting ready - 6:30pm - but we were still able to make it out of port that night so in …

Sailing Croatia

Without a doubt, Croatia can be described as one of the best  kept secrets of the European sailing destinations. Sheltered by the  chain of the Dinaric Alps, its endless coastline is covered with  pristine beaches and charming medieval towns. A Croatia yacht charter is  a wonderful choice whether you are looking for a relaxed sailing  vacation with your family, or an exiting sailing adventure with your  friends. This region has many secluded islands and islets, along with a  wide variety of comfortable marinas. You can choose a boat charter in  Croatia with easy hops or longer, more challenging passages.

A Croatian sailing vacation offers a wonderful chance to explore  ancient ruins and historic cities, to stay for a night in a secluded  anchorage, or to visit traditional fishing villages - all of this in one  of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe.

Yachting is one of the most popular forms of recreation in Croatia,  thus numerous catamarans and sailboats can be seen all over the  coastline. Croatia yacht charters are well developed. Here you will find  one of the biggest European chains of modern marinas with berths for  yachts and catamarans from 30 to over 100 feet long. Anchorages,  moorings, and marinas have all the necessary amenities and are located  within a few miles of one another. In addition, while sailing in Croatia  you will find many free moorings near family restaurants where you can  sample local wines and fresh seafood right on board your own yacht.

The Adriatic coastline can be divided into three counties: Istria,  Central Dalmatia and South Dalmatia. Yacht charters in Croatia are  available all along the coast. Below are some useful tips for selecting a  boat rental in Croatia that will help you find the perfect time and  place for your dream sailing trip.

North Croatia Sailing – Istria County

July to the middle of September is the best time for a yacht  charter in the northern part of Croatia. During this season the water is  warm and most days are sunny, while the prevailing wind is mild  mistral. In early spring and late autumn this area may be prone to bora,  strong local northeastern winds.

One of the most convenient places to start a North Croatia yacht  charter is in Pula, the city closest to the international airport.

During your sailing vacation in the northern region of Istria, we  recommend a visit to the former Tito`s state summer residence, his  favorite safari park in the Brijuni Islands, to walk under the ancient  pines of Mali Losinj and to sail under the picturesque Cres Island  bridge. The stunning view of the ancient Rovigno City and its main  landmark, St. Euphemia Basilica, can be seen only from the water. If you  are looking for a more challenging sailing passage in Croatia, you may  like to head from Pula directly to Venice. Within a several hour journey  you will find yourself along the Italian coast.

Southern Croatia boat rentals – Dubrovnik County

Since ancient times Croatia has had great strategic importance,  thus over the centuries various civilizations and cultures have left  part of their legacy and influence, creating a rich and diverse culture.

Sailing along the southern Adriatic Coast of Croatia is recommended  for sailors with moderate to good sailing experience. In this part of  the country, good weather and fair winds last longer into the season, so  you can explore the sights and enjoy the beauty of the Adriatic coast  until late autumn. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry  summers and cool, wet winters.

Dubrovnik sailing vacations

A yacht charter in Dubrovnik, the southernmost region of  Croatia, offers a great variety of comfortable marinas and secluded  moorings. The medieval city of Dubrovnik is called the "Pearl of the  Adriatic" and because of its long history of maritime trade, has played  an important role since ancient times. Today its blend of historic  architecture and modern cafes and nightlife make it a fascinating  destination.

The rugged coast south of Croatia is a great choice for sailors who  value stunning scenery and historical sites more than the distance  passed. What could be better than having breakfast on board your yacht  near an ancient fortress of an old town

During a yacht charter in Croatia, you won't want to miss a visit to  Mljet National Park and the golden island of Sipan. There you will find  stunning vistas of the Dalmatian Islands and enjoy a landscape covered  with orange and tangerine trees, palms, agaves, Renaissance parks,  flower gardens and medieval stone buildings.

Sailing in Split area

The Split area is one of the most popular Croatia yacht charter  destinations. Located only 10 minutes from the airport, it attracts  sailors from all over the Europe. A Split yacht charter is an easy  starting point for a sailing vacation in Croatia, with open access to  the most stunning destinations and secluded islands.

Within a 7-day Croatia yacht charter you will be able to visit Hvar,  an island popular for its exclusive cafes and bars on the Adriatic,  learn how to extract marble on the island of Bra, visit famous Korula  island, the birthplace of Marco Polo, and soak up history and culture  with Renaissance cathedrals and ancient monuments while walking the  ancient streets of Trogir.

When sailing in the Split area do not miss a chance to visit the  waterfalls located in Krk National Park, a gorgeous destination any time  of year.

Overall, a Croatia yacht charter offers an ideal mix of history,  exquisite Mediterranean cuisine and unforgettable sailing opportunities.  With excellent infrastructure, short passages and calm waters, Croatia  yacht charters rival any other sailing destinations in the world.

It is also a perfect country for those who are looking for an unforgettable sailing adventure in Europe.

Below Deck's Captain Glenn Shephard opens up on life beyond the camera

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Captain Glenn Shephard has been at the helm of the Parsifal III for all four seasons of the hit show, and has now opened up about his life off-camera

Glenn Shephard

  • 11:03, 3 Sep 2024
  • Updated 12:42, 3 Sep 2024

Below Deck Sailing Yacht, the popular reality TV show, follows the crew of the Parsifal III as they cater to guests during their charters around Greece , Croatia, Spain and Italy. Captain Glenn Shephard has been at the helm for all four seasons.

The series offers a glimpse into the lives of the crew members who work and reside on the 177-foot yacht. There's never a dull moment onboard as the guests keep the crew on their toes.

In an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk, Glenn shared insights about his life both on and off the Parsifal. He is currently preparing to inaugurate the 55th Southampton International Boat Show, Britain's biggest marine festival, later this month.

Speaking from Croatia, one of his favourite sailing destinations, he said: "I'm currently in Croatia on my little boat, my girlfriend and I have a 42-footer. Croatia is amazing, I also really like Greece as a place to sail."

"I love the Caribbean and the Bahamas."

More recently, he admitted he had "slowed down", explaining: "I'm not working that much on the big boat [Parsifal] any more."

"I worked for 15 years on that boat, 12 years before any cameras showed up, doing exactly the same thing as you see on the show."

"But now I'm taking more time off to cruise on my boat. For a day in the life of a captain on a super yacht, you get up, and you meet some of the crew."

"It depends whether you have guests on board or are in between charters, but going to the wheelhouse, check emails, the guests get up."

"What's the plan for the day? Go out and do a sail, stop for lunch somewhere, maybe do another sail in the afternoon and get set up for dinner, maybe a beach party or picnic - something like that."

"All of the logistics you are figuring out. My job is very heavy on organising and keeping everybody on the plan."

"Keeping them motivated and interacting with the guests and making sure their needs are seen to."

He emphasised that no two days are alike, stating: "I think that's an average day but there's no normal day."

"There's always something crazy happening and I think that's why it makes for such a good TV show because nothing is planned, none of it is made up."

"But there's always something crazy happening on the boat."

He is soon to be found at Mayflower Park in Southampton, as the boat show runs from September 13 to September 22.

The UK's largest marine showcase offers the best the industry has to offer.

Captain Glenn will officially inaugurate the show at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and fans can hear from him directly during a special Q&A session on the Foredeck Stage at 3.30pm. He'll share fascinating tales from his life at sea, what it takes to captain the Parsifal III, and insights into the world of Below Deck.

Additionally, 20 lucky superfans will have the opportunity to meet Captain Glenn at an exclusive VIP meet-and-greet in TheYachtmarket.com sparkling wine bar.

Tickets to the event come with a glass of fizz, an opportunity to quiz Glenn on all things maritime, and even a signed keepsake to take home.

Discussing the upcoming boat show, Glenn said: "I think boat shows are a great way to start if you have an interest in boating and you have never been on a boat."

"The whole boating industry got a massive bump right after Covid, the boat builders can't keep up with the orders."

"Used boats, the prices have gone up. There's an enormous boost in interest in boating, it's a great way to still have a holiday but stay isolated."

"People are starting to realise the attraction of that whether there's a pandemic or not."

Below deck sailing yacht’s gary king thinks he has viewer support following bad behavior (fans may not watch this season).

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King has been banking on having viewer support amid some genuinely bad behavior, but fans may not tune in for the upcoming season of BDSY because of him . Gary has been a longtime member of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht team, having appeared on the series as First Officer since its second season. Working closely with Captain Glenn Shephard, Gary has been working well with the team professionally, but from a personal standpoint, things haven’t always been easy. Gary’s behavior has been questioned over the last year, creating issues for Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

Throughout Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, many Below Deck viewers began questioning how Gary treated women. While he was always friendly and open with his colleagues, Gary’s behavior was something that the women he worked with and the women he served aboard the charters were wary of . Gary, who’s in his 40s, was always a man who had more of a playboy attitude and consistently moved from partner to partner, flirty and at times inappropriate. When sexual misconduct allegations came out against Gary , Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers weren’t surprised, but didn’t know if they should be supporting Gary.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Gary’s Sexual Misconduct Allegations Alienated Below Deck Viewers

He hasn’t taken accountability.

Although Gary’s been actively denying the allegations lodged against him, it’s been clear that something happened during the filming of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 that’s impacted the production entirely. Allegations lodged against Gary by a Below Deck franchise makeup artist detailing sexually aggressive behavior came to light after the reunion for the last season of the series, making it clear Gary was overstepping his boundaries. While Gary has vehemently denied the allegations , viewers have claimed they’re not interested in seeing him on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 due to his potentially dangerous behavior not being taken seriously.

Gary Believes His Audience Is Still Supportive

He doesn’t believe he’s done anything wrong.

As Gary doesn’t believe he’s done anything wrong in the scope of his work on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, he’s been open about his fans staying supportive. While there have been some moments where Gary speaks up about the wave of viewers who haven’t been supporting him, many of his social media posts discuss the fact that he has Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers behind him . While many have chosen not to support Gary , he believes that the audience of the series is still behind him. With Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 coming soon, Gary feels he’ll be celebrated.

Will Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Ratings Tank?

Many won’t want to support gary.

As Gary will likely be a part of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 throughout the season, it’s possible that viewers make the decision not to support the show after all that he’s done. While the allegations against Gary aren’t confirmed , his behavior on the show prior to the allegations supports the idea that he would take things too far if given the opportunity. In choosing to believe the victim, Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers may take a stand against the series for giving Gary a platform. It’s possible Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s ratings could tank when it finally returns.
