Westport 112 Overview

Yachts in the Westport 112 series have a length of 111 feet, eight inches (34m), a beam of 23 feet, nine inches (7.3m) and a draft of six feet (1.8m) making them the ideal size for cruising with families and friends. Additionally, the yacht’s draft allows for cruising in shallow locales, such as The Bahamas. Westport 112 yachts for sale are able to run at 26 knots and cruise at 22 knots. These yachts are powered by twin MTU 16V200 M85 engines with 185hp. The yachts carry two 65KW generators and their hulls are designed by the builder, Westport.

Moving indoors on the main deck is the full-beam main salon followed by the formal interior dining table for 10 guests. Staircases forward of the dining table access the upper and lower decks and a dayhead also is found here. Further forward is the yacht’s well-equipped country style galley that has ample space for dining at the built-in dinette.

The lower deck is home to the yacht’s four staterooms, welcoming eight guests, as well as the crew accommodations. The 112 Westport’s flybridge carries a tender aft and a crane for lowering it into the water. Forward is the flybridge helm with covered seating and a full bar – this is an ideal space for entertaining.

The 112’ slots in nicely within the Westport lineup as its 4-stateroom option that can accommodate 8 guests with about 4-5 crew. In comparison, the 125’ and 130’ Westports are the next step up, as they provide accommodations for 10 guests in 5 staterooms with 5-6 crew. While these yachts certainly have the same build quality and timeless design Westport is known for, there is no denying that the 112’ model has had more staying power being in production since 1994, while the larger models have been in production for a shorter period with the 125’ model eventually replacing the 130’ model.

The 112′ model made its grand debut in the early 1990s, designed to cater to the desires of discerning yacht owners who sought a balance between spaciousness, performance, and luxurious features. With its sleek lines, graceful profile and timeless appeal, this iconic model captured the attention of yachting enthusiasts worldwide.

As of 2022, Westport has delivered a staggering 65 hulls from its Washington state based yard since 1994. This is a testament to the longevity of the model, and how forward-thinking the layout and design are. In 2008, the yard started offering this luxury yacht in an optional layout with a main-deck owner’s stateroom. The classic yacht originally featured an owner’s stateroom, a VIP stateroom, and 2 twin staterooms belowdecks. Additionally, a delightful country kitchen graced the main deck forward. In its new configuration, this vessel continues to provide exceptional accommodations with 4 staterooms below. However, the 4th stateroom has transformed into an upper/lower suite. The owner’s stateroom has been reimagined, occupying the space where the country kitchen once resided, now positioned all the way forward on the main deck. It boasts a spacious head, conveniently located a few steps down under the foredecks, thoughtfully utilizing the area previously occupied by the below-deck owner’s stateroom.

Apart from these enhancements, much remains unchanged in both versions of the vessel. A generously proportioned salon, a dining room, a well-appointed galley, and an open-yet-protected afterdeck adorn the main level, ensuring ample space for relaxation and entertainment. Moreover, the topside and forward areas offer expansive open spaces for leisure activities, ensuring a truly enjoyable experience for all on board.

With a high pedigree of quality and class, the highly established Westport Yachts are now built in three separate shipyards in the Washington area- including Westport Shipyard, Hoquiam Shipyard and Port Angeles Shipyard. To ensure quiet, smooth operation, the 112' features Detroit Diesel anti-vibration mounts for the engines, a proprietary underwater exhaust and a sound-insulating bulkheads. This all adds up to low DB levels and high performance cruising, further softened by a state-of-the-art stabilizer system which is included as standard equipment.

With recent refinements adding to an already dramatic contemporary profile, the Westport 112' boasts proven efficiencies and a now timeless elegance. Known for it's exceptional ride, due to the hull engineering expertise of naval architect Jack Sarin, the Westport 112' achieves a 24-knot cruise and tops-out at a whopping 28 knots. Exceptional performance by any standard!

Designed for socializing and sunning, the bridge deck features generous lounge seating, a sun pad, a full-service bar and hot tub beneath a sculptured free-span electronics arch. The adjacent fully-instrumented flybridge helm is flanked by two wing stations for docking and close-quarters maneuvering. Aft, the bridge deck accommodates a 2000-pound capacity davit and chocks for the life raft and tender, also included as standard equipment.

Always a centerpiece of attraction, the wheelhouse features electronic engine controls, instrumentation and a full complement of electronics including satellite navigation, autopilot, radar, depth sounder and satellite telephone and television systems. A raised settee accommodates up to four guests in an unusually spacious environment. Large view windows on three sides provide clear visibility for the captain, and a panoramic view for guests.

In the galley, the flooring is hardwood with an inlaid border. The overhead detail is a soffit with crown molding and rope light. Cabinets are cherry, including the refrigerator! The dinette settee and dining table have built-in storage, plus special fabrics specified by the designer. The galley is equipped with granite countertops for quick clean-up meal preparations, a 48” refrigerator, a 5-burner cooktop, a convection oven, microwave, trash compactor and a disposal.... all conveniently placed in an oversize country kitchen. Interior design items include six marble choices – crema marfil, light emperador, dark emperador morato (shown here), toddo damasco, and daino reale. Settees are soft-cured vanilla leather.

Overhead, a perimeter soffit holds crown and rope lighting for a starlight effect. The domed overhead ceiling feature is a generous oval over the dining area, with a dining pendant. Wide windows are draped with lattice-effect, slatted drapes. To starboard, the salon includes a walk-up bar, an extension of the aft deck bar; plus a combination refrigerator/ice maker and storage. A 52” flat screen TV is centered in the entertainment area. A mirror with beveled edges is installed on the forward bulkhead flanked by wood detail port and starboard. The conversation area provides leather sofas and rich fabrics in upholstered loveseats, plus occasional chairs, end tables, and a gaming table. Truly a yacht forged in luxury, each minute detail is exacting. The fit and the finish on ANY Westport is something to marvel over, from the joining of her hull and deck to the joinery of her cherry and mahogany interior.

The master stateroom rivals much larger yachts AND the luxuries they offer. The centrally located king-size berth sits atop a raised pedestal with drawers underneath. The stateroom features an abundant amount of storage space, including walk-in wardrobes. For comfort, the perimeter of the stateroom has sofa seating, end tables and a vanity counter. The master bath is located behind the bed with privacy access doors provided on each side.

His and hers ensuite vanities are seperated by a whirlpool tub and stand-up shower. Marble pillars, walls and countertops accentuate the woodwork of some of the Northwest's finest craftsmen. This level of craftsmenship and artistry would be expected in custom yachts costing considerably more.

The VIP Stateroom features a queen size berth. There are also three private double staterooms, each with its own head compartment, accommodating up to six guests for extended voyages.

The use of overhead mirrors adds considerable dimension to an already large day head. Notice how the sink jettisons out over the cabinets for easy use. Most day heads lack sufficient room for this welcome feature. The day head is located immediately abaft the pilothouse, in the walkway between the galley and the salon. With entrance doors from the exterior of the yacht located directly across the walkway, it keeps traffic to a minimum when nature calls.

Westport commences construction on three 41m yachts on spec

US shipyard Westport Yachts has announced that construction on three  41-metre yachts from its new W135 | 41m line is officially underway.

Known as the "enhanced Westport 125", the model features an extended hull for enhanced performance and to accommodate a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, which helps to minimise emissions. 

"These new builds mark another significant milestone in Westport's history of crafting timeless vessels, with a dedication to craftsmanship, engineering, and luxury. The decision to initiate spec builds on these three 135 | 41m motor yachts underscore Westport's confidence in the demand for premium, high-performance vessels in the luxury yacht market," said Westport Yachts.

Accommodation on the W135 is for 10 people across five cabins, including an owner's suite on the main deck, plus further provision for a crew of five. Additional space in the aft guest cabins allow for the inclusion of king-size beds.

When I talk about pedigree yards, it’s easy to assume that I would be speaking about the most famous yards of The Netherlands or Germany. Westport should not be overlooked in this pedigree classification.

From hull construction through to fit and finish, Westport is using the highest quality materials. Every hull is a combination of composite and fiberglass. The Westport 112 has a massive 23’ 9” beam while having a draft of only 6 feet. This 6’ draft will take you through the skinniest Bahamian waters. She can also get you there at a cruising speed of over 20 knots with a max speed of 26 knots.

All of these advantages come from a seasoned engineering and design department, including a supply line with access to the finest materials for a yacht. Westport can also boast about is the build of the 112 — it’s probably the most challenging, yet they always complete these projects on time. While the layout of the Westport 112 has not significantly changed, this attests to time in service. With over 60 plus Westport 112s built, this platform has proven itself among yacht owners and captains alike. She’s a true 4 stateroom motor yacht with a luxurious country kitchen.

I remember walking aboard a 112’ Westport named JOPAJU during a charter boat show. After being received at the aft main deck bar, I was handed a glass of champagne and led through the main salon into the galley. The chef was using almost all of the counter space and boasting about how great it was to cook in this country kitchen. The term “galley” does not suffice as a descriptor. The forward dinette in the country kitchen provides guests with a chance to chat with a personal chef and create their dream menu for an upcoming charter.

The flybridge on the Westport 112 has seating as well as a bar under the cover of the hardtop, a perfect place to spend your time underway. If you move aft of the hardtop and the vessel’s toys, you will find a great place to sunbathe. For those who prefer a more upright and private setting, the circular seating on the bow is where you’ll find peace.

After a long day of watersports, swimming, eating, and drinking, you can retire to the standout feature on this yacht: the master suite. It’s a full-beam stateroom with one of the most spacious ensuite heads in class. This room is a plush, private, and quiet spot to relax after a day in the sun.

3. Personalization

The Westport 112 has gone through very little (serious) change in her tenure. After building over 40 very impressive 112s, Westport decided it was time for a change. Just a small change. Hull #42 introduced additional side gate entrances, a passerelle for ease of boarding in the Mediterranean, an additional bunk in the crew quarter (expanding total crew to 5), and larger seating on the main deck aft to accommodate more guests for outdoor dining.

Past hull #60, you’ll notice larger hull side windows and a few aesthetic changes, while keeping in the tradition of the Westport 112 lines and layout. When you experience success with the same product for so long, why make a drastic change? The 112 has always been the standard-bearer and it’s the entry-level boat if you are entering the Westport class.

Westport is an American company founded in 1964. They were faced with the high risk/high reward commercial fisheries of the Pacific Northwest. Westport Launches Hull No. 9 of the 125

In early November, Westport Yachts in Washington State launched the ninth hull of its Westport 125 series.

The model has continued to prove popular since Hull No. 1 launched in 2016, marking the first new model in a decade for the builder that had long been known for the Westport 112 and Westport 130 . More than 100 of those two models have been built.

When the 125 first appeared, Westport said it drew on popular features from the 112 and 130 models, giving owners a way to move up to a bigger yacht from the 112 without having to go all the way to the size of the 130. Like the 112, the 125 has a raised pilothouse (as opposed to the 130’s trideck design).
