"If you want to make something well, do it yourself". This principle gave rise to many worthwhile companies, including the Serious Yachts. In 2004, Dirk Bontinck (Derk Bonsink) decided to buy the yacht of your dreams, but never found anything suitable. Then he decided to remake himself trawler Bowman 45, but during the repair fell in love with the process of yacht building. After the light appeared the first from Serious Yachts trawler (13.8 m), followed by Gently 36 and Gently 36 Sport. The latter received the nomination from HISWA in category "Motor boat of the year".

History of Serious Yachts may seem too smooth, but it is important to explain who Dirk Bontinck. A yachtsman from an early age, the owner of the company Bonsink Yacht Painters, he is one of the top experts in the market of yacht painting in the Netherlands . His firm works with such as Amels shipyard, Vitters, Hakvoort, and, of course, leads private projects. Understanding of the market, materials and specialists are allowed the derk of Borsenko to take a quick and successful start with the Serious Yachts.

Manufacturing

the Shipyard of the Serious Yachts is located in the Dutch village of Zwartsluis estuary Zwart , close to the popular Marina Kronenberg . All stages of construction being their own masters Serious Yachts, the shipyard is responsible for the label "Dutch quality".

Given the background of the owner, it is easy to understand what is the competitive advantage of the shipyard.

Serious Yachts — kings finish, they will find "the" color for body painting, cover the door 16 layers of lacquer and Polish all the panels to a mirror Shine.

the shipyard has developed mutually beneficial cooperation with Marina Kramerwirt. Simultaneously with the construction of a private yacht, she has been standing service in the Marina vessels, offering them all kinds of work, from minor to major repairs. So master Serious Yachts never sit idle.

Its ideology Serious Yachts drawn up in two lines of luxury >trawlers with steel and aluminum case: Gently and Brightly. In Gently lives the spirit of old-school gentlemanly charm. Line Brightly more modern in style and daring in mood. Every line is smart model accelerates up to 25-30 knots.

Each of the existing models you can build on and customize for their needs, this issue is Serious Yachts always goes towards the client. The chief designer of the shipyard acts as Arnold de Ruyter (Arnold De Ruyter).

Grand Soleil 42LC review: a serious boat for serious cruisers

  • Theo Stocker
  • July 18, 2024

Performance pedigree and Italian panache certainly make for stylish boats, but how do they translate into a serious cruising boat? Theo Stocker tests the Grand Soleil 42LC

serious yachts

Product Overview

Price as reviewed:.

Light winds may not make for the most exciting boat test images, especially when it’s chilly, the sky is grey and it’s threatening to rain, which was the weather we were dealt for our test of the Grand Soleil 42LC.

There is still a surprising amount you can tell about a boat in light airs, however. A sluggish, heavy boat won’t go anywhere until there’s a decent Force 4, while a lightweight racer will be up and off in a mere zephyr, before terrifying your nervous crew once the breeze kicks in.

The wind speed at which a cruising boats starts sailing is a good indicator of where she sits on that spectrum. Time would tell how this boat fared.

The 42LC is not exactly a new boat; the model was launched at the 2020 Düsseldorf boat show, a few short weeks before we were all plunged into the depths of Covid lockdowns. We didn’t manage to make the stars align until the first boat in the UK passed to her current owner. The fact that the boat is three years old but still looks factory-fresh suggests that she is well-built and well able to withstand the average knocks and bumps of the cruising life.

Nor is cruising Grand Soleil’s heartland. The Italian yard is better known for lightweight, sporty and extremely elegant performance cruisers between 40ft-80ft, unashamedly designed for the Mediterranean. Sleek coachroofs, flared transoms and more than a little Italian panache make them instantly recognisable, both on the race course, where they have found plenty of success, and elegantly bobbing in the most fashionable of harbours.

While many of the older models have gone on to become great second-hand cruising boats with a decent turn of speed, it was just a decade ago in 2015 that Grand Soleil launched its first 46 Long Cruise. The range has now grown to include boats as large as 72ft. The Grand Soleil 42LC joins as the baby of the family, designed, as the others are, by Marco Lostuzzi.

All controls are led aft to the helm and a powered winch each side makes shorthanded sailing a doddle. Photo: Richard Langdon

Visually, the Grand Soleil family resemblance is still there – sharp, high bows, sweeping down past a low coachroof to the flared topsides at the stern, above a pinched-in waterline, just as with the Performance boats. The difference is all in the volume – the soft chines aft come down a lot closer to the water, the topsides now tower above the pontoon (you’ll need a fender step if you’re boarding midships) and the waterline has spread outwards.

Look up, and there’s a more modest rig – our test boat was fitted with the self-tacking jib and a furling mainsail, and although a carbon bowsprit adds nearly a metre to the boat’s length, it’s a fraction of the huge sprits on the Performance boats. Sadly, we didn’t have a Code Zero or gennaker for the test sail. Below the waterline, things have mellowed too – the bow knuckle still floats sportily just above the water, but the forefoot is deeper and there’s more hull rocker, promising a more forgiving sail.

Looking at the polars, and we’ll have to rely on those for the boat’s strong wind capability for this review, it certainly looks like the 42LC will start to leave her stern wave behind for anyone bold enough to set an asymmetric spinnaker in the high teens and early 20s – speeds of 9-10 knots should be achievable, though most will be happy with reaching at 8-9 knots without pushing too hard.

The teeth of a zephyr

Motoring serenely down the Hamble river, out to a not-quite-glassy Southampton Water, the Volvo D2-50 manages 6.5 knots at just 2,000rpm, and maxes out at 7.7 knots at 2,800rpm; 7 knots at 2,300rpm should be a pretty efficient way of motoring from A to B. With a bit of tide under us and the sails sheeted home, we were soon making 4 knots boat speed into little more than 5 knots of true wind with 7-8 knots across the deck.

Another knot or two of breeze and we were at 4.6 knots. Then came the strong stuff; 8 knots of true wind gave us 11-13 knots apparent and we were slicing serenely along at 5.5 knots. I reckon with an overlapping headsail, a battened main with a bit more roach and a scrubbed hull we’d have had another half knot or more, easily.

The polars agree that you’ll be up above 6.5 knots as soon as you’ve got 10-12 knots true. The extra breeze will help with pointing too – while we were sailing at around 35º apparent and tacking through 100º true, once the sails and keel are working properly you’ll get a few extra degrees of height. A less slippery hull would be slower off the mark and less keen to point.

It’s a clean deck layout, with grab rails recessed into the coachroof. Photo: Richard Langdon

Easy to handle

This also translates into a boat that is easily handled. Twin wheels link to a single deep rudder abaft a deep L-shaped keel, and this boat had the standard 2.25m keel (a slightly heavier 1.9m ‘shoal’ keel is an option). Although we couldn’t get everything loaded up in the light airs, the helm felt light and taut, and the boat answered the wheel quickly, even at slow speeds.

Singlehanding wouldn’t be an issue, with all lines led aft under the coamings to clutches, served by a pair of winches each side, the outboard one being powered. There’s still just enough space forward of the wheel for crew to handle the lines and a rope bin beneath the aft end of the cockpit benches.

With no instrument repeaters or lines forward, the danger is that your crew get bored before they get overwhelmed. They will, however, be able to sit back against the sloping coachroof bulkhead under the shelter of the large sprayhood, which sets from the cockpit arch. It is taller than many sprayhoods, so you look forward through rather than over it, but it performs its job admirably.

The arch also secures the mainsheet; given the potential dangers posed by mainsheets in the cockpit, having this completely clear felt incredibly safe.

serious yachts

The optional cockpit arch keeps the mainsheet out of the way, helps to set the sprayhood, and provides solid handholds for moving about. Photo: Richard Langdon

It may offer less sail control than an aft mainsheet (a padeye in the cockpit sole aft of the table is an option), but it sets much further aft than the usual solution of a bridle forward of the companionway, and pulls the boom towards the centreline, rather than down to cockpit sole, leaving the kicking strap and adjustable backstay to handle mainsail twist. With a self-tacking jib, in-mast furling main and powered winches, setting sail, tacking, gybing, and stowing sail is simple, with minimal line-handling.

Controls for the bow thruster, anchor windlass and hydraulic bathing platform are all to hand, all of which can be operated by remote if you’re away from the wheel. While the latter of these may sound like overkill, a remote-controlled bathing platform has the advantage that it can be raised as you leave the boat by dinghy, then lowered again when you return to the boat – clever! The thruster and single rudder make handling under power straightforward.

Side decks are wide and clear thanks to the split chainplates for cap and lower shrouds, leading to an extensive foredeck, where there’s a recess in the coachroof for sunpad cushions. In a blow, getting to the bow might feel a little exposed across this open space, but the moulded toe rails here should help. Not that you’ll need to, given that the below-deck jib furler and any furling offwind sails can be managed from the cockpit.

Our test boat had an impressive collection of fenders, for which, amazingly, space could be found in the bow locker, the aft section of which is watertight stowage space, plus a draining gas locker, while the forward portion houses the anchor windlass with a decent hull-depth drop for the chain.

serious yachts

The hydraulic bathing platform can be operated remotely when returning to the boat by dinghy. Photo: Richard Langdon

Stowage aft is provided in the generous lazarette between the wheels, with a bin for the liferaft accessed via the bathing platform. Given this is hydraulic, you’d need to manually override to get to the liferaft in the event of a power failure. There are no lockers below the cockpit seats, giving more headroom to the aft cabins.

In this two-cabin version, there is still a large locker port side aft (aft of the galley), but it is only accessible via the starboard aft cabin, marginally reducing its usefulness, though no doubt a good space for spare linen, folding bikes and infrequently used spares. The large cockpit table also includes a deep bin with more than enough space for snacks, drinks and binoculars.

In it for the long haul

The Long Cruise name suggests that this isn’t just a boat for weekend afloat here or there, but for proper, long-term cruising, and as I headed below I was struck by how many details Grand Soleil seems to have got right.

Gently-sloping companionway steps with handles either side lead to a large grab handle on the heads bulkhead to starboard. The heads are easily accessible in wet sailing gear, and there is a separate shower cubicle in which to hang dripping foulies. Grab rails are set into the deckhead either side of the coachroof hatches (as long as you’re tall enough to reach), then fiddles and chainplate tie rods provide handholds as you move forwards.

The galley in the two-cabin version is something to behold. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a galley with this much stowage. Cleverly, the forward section of what would have been an aft cabin has been used for a full-height bulkhead of lockers, plus lockers and drawers against the hull, meaning there is ample space for microwaves and coffee machines, as well as extra worktop space. No more ferreting around under seat cushions to find that elusive tin of baked beans or caviar.

serious yachts

There aren’t many galleys on boats this size with anywhere near this much stowage. Photo: Richard Langdon

A two-burner stove sits inboard of a bottle and condiment rack and lockers, with more pan lockers and a large split-top fridge. I liked the recess tucked behind the galley sink, providing somewhere to put wet dishcloths and washing-up liquid. To port, C-shaped seating around the large saloon table affords comfortable seating for four, and while there are no seats on the fourth side, a couple of foam stools would provide extra seating if you wanted it.

To starboard, a proper forward-facing chart table, replete with plotter, instruments and electrical switch panel, sits neatly between two comfortable chairs, which make the saloon a most convivial space, though a straight sea berth is a an alternative option. All joinery is finished with solid wood edges and rounded corners, as is proper on a yacht.

Accommodation is provided in two double cabins, with an option of a third double cabin port side aft, and a lowering saloon table would give you another double in the saloon. As it is, the boat’s owner Paul never sails with more than four on board. The starboard aft cabin on this boat has separate twin beds – a double is an option, or an infill could probably be added to make up a double, and there’s decent locker and shelf space, as well as access to the side of the engine bay.

serious yachts

There’s plenty of space to move around the forward cabin, with an island double bed on the centreline. Photo: Richard Langdon

The forward cabin is definitely the owner’s cabin, with a large midships island bed with steps either side, and a large wardrobe locker, complete with shoe locker below. Below the bunk are two large drawers, while the retracting bow thruster and battery plus a couple of small stowage bins take up the forward section of the under-bunk space.

There’s plenty of room to stand and walk around, thanks in part to the small step down in the cabin sole from the saloon to maintain headroom (as do steps down into the galley and the aft cabin). The generous ensuite heads, complete with separate shower cubicle, doesn’t make it feel like a squeeze.

Clever features

One neat detail was that the recess housing the speed and depth transducer is sealed off from the rest of the bilge, so that when you swap out the transducer, any water is easy to mop up without draining aft to sit on the keel bolts. I also liked the sliding portlight blinds set into the hull lining – it all adds to the quality of the finish.

serious yachts

Two comfy chairs flank the forward-facing chart table. Photo: Richard Langdon

Tankage is pretty good, with 300 litres of water and 200 litres of fuel giving you sensible if not vast range; enough for moderate offshore sailing. Tanks are both located in the aft cabins, leaving more stowage space beneath the saloon seating. To my mind the boat looked a little ‘bows up’, though this may just be a trick of the sheerline and high bow knuckle rather than from too much weight aft; the boat certainly did not drag her stern at the speeds we were sailing at.

Access to the Volvo D2-50 and sail drive gearbox is very good. The engine space is well illuminated and includes forced ventilation to keep fumes and smells out of the accommodation. There is an option for a 60hp motor, but given our speeds under engine, there doesn’t seem to be much to be gained by doing so.

There are plenty of 42ft cruising yachts out there, but if you’re looking something a little more refined with ambitions to go further afield, the options start to narrow. With a slightly larger budget, you might consider a Scandinavian boat like the Linjett 39 we tested last month or an X43 Mark 2 – both very nice boats of a similar ilk, if a little pricier, or you might be looking at a Dehler, Hanse or an Elan. Given the light winds of the test it’s hard to be sure, but I’d bet the Grand Soleil with an overlapping jib and slab main would give those boats a run for their money. Like all new boats these days, it doesn’t come cheap, but I was impressed with both the quality of finish and the attention to detail. For a three-year-old boat, the one I sailed showed virtually no signs of wear and tear.

Some insist that the true measure of a motor yacht's worth is the dimensions of her flybridge, sundeck, and covered aft-deck. There must be space for owners and their guests to revel in sun, sea, and sky. But there are others equally convinced that a motor yacht must be judged by her interior spaces: How roomy, how magnificently furnished, how well appointed with standard equipment and amenities. Happily, the 39 Motor Yacht satisfies all those requirements. The open bridge seats eight, who can also enter conveniently from the foredeck by the Side Walk.

The 39 Motor Yacht's foredeck and sheltered aft-deck are the perfect adjunct to an interior designed for on-water living and entertaining. Wide of beam, the 39 Motor Yacht's salon, dinette area, and uncommonly roomy galley are remarkable for their space and luxury. The convertible L-lounge is sprawling; the dinette table, solid cherry; the galley, a seacook's delight.

Aquarius: Modern classic masterpiece makes for a surprisingly sensible superyacht

Yachting World

  • August 27, 2020

Named for the sign of astrological quality, this stunning 186ft world-cruising ketch is the result of serious sailors challenging the best of the best to produce something elegant, fast and seaworthy. Rupert Holmes reports

A demanding brief for Aquarius from experienced sailors has produced a masterpiece from some of the most experienced and talented brains in the superyacht world. Within five months of handover she had already clocked up 11,000 miles.

It’s often tempting to sum up new yachts with a short phrase describing their key characteristics. The brief for Aquarius included that she should be, ‘an elegant, muscular sailing yacht with a classic profile for family enjoyment’. But that barely scratches the surface of the main requirements for this giant ketch.

The owners also wanted a yacht that would combine good seakeeping characteristics with performance, reliability and quality. Essential features included relative simplicity, robustness of systems and a contemporary interpretation of elegant, classic lines, with a clean and uncomplicated appearance.

Aquarius ’s graceful lines and timeless shape belie a rugged world cruiser configured to be self-sufficient for extended periods when voyaging well beyond the popular Med and Caribbean circuits. In addition, the yacht is welcoming for family and friends, while providing sufficient performance to compete in superyacht regattas .

Designed to perform

“The owner loves sailing, so top performance was important,” says Dykstra’s Erik Wassen, who led the design team. “Not to the level of a racing yacht, but having the feeling of sailing well and being responsive like a smaller yacht.” A further stipulation was that the boat should not be experimental. The result is a sensible superyacht interpretation of a performance yacht.

With a whopping 50ft of bow and stern overhangs, there’s far less internal volume than might be expected for a yacht of this length. Also maximum beam is less than one-sixth of the overall length. Even so, any temptation to spoil the lines by raising the black-painted freeboard to provide more space for systems was successfully resisted.

Liara: The Baltic 112 superyacht designed to cruise the world in supreme comfort

Over the past decade we’ve been treated to the rise of the custom built cruiser-racer. Arguably inspired by the success…

Considerable work and talent was therefore needed to fit all the requirements into the slender hull. The design team repeatedly honed the arrangements until everything would fit, including adequate space for crew accommodation and servicing of systems.

A fixed 4.8m draught keel fits with the theme of simplicity, while also freeing up the internal space that a lifting or telescopic keel would otherwise occupy. Wassen says: “If it was for optimum performance, you go to seven, eight, nine, ten metres.” The problem is that quickly stops being practical, so his aim was to: “try to get her in the same sort of harbours as the J Class yachts – you can still enter St Barth’s Bucket , for instance.”

Computational Flow Dynamics (CFD) work informed the final hull shape. “In our first hull design we noticed the centre of effort shifted when going from close-hauled to a beam reach to running,” says Wassen. “By optimising the hull shape in the CFD we could minimise that effect, giving much more equal rudder pressure on different points of sail.”

A sense of scale as the seemingly tiny figures prepare the mizzen staysail

The response and feel of a smaller boat was achieved “through having an ample sail plan – the boat has lots of sail – and giving her lots of stability,” he adds.  “We kept her as light as possible, which is always difficult because of the weight of the systems and of the ballast needed to provide stability.”

Aquarius ’s skipper James Turner has been very impressed with the handling so far: “With the correct sail plan Aquarius is a delight on the helm, responsive with weight to the wheel,” he reports. “Contrary to what her length and volume might suggest, she feels lively yet forgiving, almost playful on the wheel.”

A clean and uncluttered deck layout was a key priority, but was rendered more difficult by the lack of bulwarks. The profiles of both deckhouses were kept as low as possible, while individual sails are sheeted to similar points, which concentrates deck gear in discrete locations.

modern-classic-royal-huisman-superyacht-aquarius-helm-controls-credit-Carlo-Baroncini

Despite her significant sail area, push-button controls mean Aquarius can be sailed by three

Clustering several different items into a single feature also helped to achieve this goal. For example, the boxes for vents and skylights ahead of the main deckhouse also form the backrests for the cushions when this area is used for sun lounging. In addition they house discrete B&G units that provide headsail and spinnaker trimmers with the key data needed for racing.

Project manager Godfrey Cray was keen to use halyard locks to reduce the number of winches around the mast base – the final arrangement has just two winches here instead of the usual four. Attention to detail extends to the cowl vents that have a protection ring of black composite below the polished stainless steel caps so that there is no chance of lines snagging.

The large mizzen was a feature from the inception of the project and provides a powerful configuration for fast reaching and downwind sailing with the mizzen staysail set. A further advantage of this sail plan is that no compromises were needed to keep air draught below the Panamax limit.

Optimised hull shape and big sail area means Aquarius has the response and feel of a smaller yacht

Doyle Sails New Zealand was involved in the project from an early stage, which gave time to tweak the sail plan and for aerodynamic and finite element analysis work to optimise the deck layout and improve overall load predictions. Aquarius is a fast enough boat for the apparent wind to often be forward of the beam.

A 1,580m2 running asymmetric spinnaker is included in the inventory and is clearly important when racing. However, optimisation of the reaching sails was also a priority to enable Aquarius to realise her enormous potential. In addition to the main and mizzen a 460m2 mizzen staysail and 770m2 Code 0 boost the sail area to an impressive 2,200m2 when reaching.

Rondal performance furling booms are a key means of simplifying sail handling , without compromising performance. They allow control of the foot tension of the sail, while providing a very practical means of reefing and stowing the sails.

modern-classic-royal-huisman-superyacht-aquarius-rondal-rig-credit-Carlo-Baroncini

“Typically, these systems are getting more and more reliable,” says Wassen. “There are hardly any boats that are not specifying them, except for some that go all the way to more racy slab reefing systems to reduce weight aloft.”

Square-top sails were shunned because of the difficulties of handling the top batten. However, the large roach main and mizzen still require running backstays, which are handled by captive winches. “They take more space and are heavier,” says Wassen, “but the captive winches mean you always have the opportunity to ease the runners under load if you have to make an unexpected tack or gybe.”

The twin wheels are positioned far enough outboard to give good sight lines to the bow and the rig. Key sail controls are also located at each helm station to facilitate easy handling. A drawback to this, though, is that you can’t always see the function you’re adjusting.  “It’s something we don’t often do,” says Wassen, “and making it look inconspicuous and classic is difficult.”

modern-classic-royal-huisman-superyacht-aquarius-deck-detail-credit-Carlo-Baroncini

The solution was a more modern style console with a lot of controls that are fully concealed by hinged teak covers when not in use. This enables the boat to be sailed with only three people on deck.

Key challenges

While the brief for Aquarius deliberately avoided pushing hard against the boundaries of engineering and materials technology, there were still many challenges to overcome before the owners’ vision and dream could be realised.

In particular, a huge effort was needed to fit the accommodation and systems into the low-volume hull. This involved an iterative process between four parties – naval architect, interior designer, the engineers at Royal Huisman, and the owners – to ensure systems and adequate crew quarters could be accommodated, while leaving enough space for the owner and guest accommodation to meet the brief.

modern-classic-royal-huisman-superyacht-aquarius-aft-cockpit-credit-Carlo-Baroncini

There is plenty of relaxation space split across Aquarius’s three cockpits

Interior designer Mark Whiteley initially presented two concepts – one for a relatively dark panelled interior, the other with mahogany furniture and trim balanced by white wall spaces. After the two had been mocked up at full scale for a section of the boat, the owners chose the lighter option. Whiteley subsequently described his challenge as creating, “a light and contemporary classic feel, rather than a more sombre and historically referenced one”.

While this early decision informed the big picture, he says the finer details needed careful judgement to give the boat its unique feel. The final coat of white paint on the wall panels, for instance, was brushed by hand to provide additional character and interest. He says: “This added to the relaxed informality and chic, understated quality you might associate with a house in the Hamptons.”

The main cockpit is the primary social hub of the boat, so considerable effort was put into refining it. This extended to the folding arrangements for the tables and to the design of the additional fold-away seats that face the main U-shape seating areas.

Mahogany joinery is balanced by white trim

The owner wanted a single floor level in the deckhouse, without a higher level for the seating areas, while retaining a view through the windows when sitting down. The lower edge of the windows therefore needed to be brought down as far as possible, which in turn provides a lot of natural light. The skylights also help to flood the interior with natural light.

Two versions of the magnificent owner’s suite were mocked up full-size to ensure every aspect was optimised to the maximum extent possible. There’s ample natural light from the large oval fan light around the mizzen mast, plus four port lights.

The bed is positioned to give a view towards the stairs to the private aft deckhouse, which opens onto its own cockpit. Attention to detail extends to secure stowage for water carafes and personal items.

modern-classic-royal-huisman-superyacht-aquarius-owners-cabin-credit-Carlo-Baroncini

Natural light floods into the owner’s suite from large fanlights around masts

Guest accommodation includes two double suites, plus a further flexible cabin that’s primarily configured as a twin. Two extra berths can be provided here to accommodate a larger number of children, via a Pullman on the inboard side and a recessed bed that drops down from the deckhead on the outboard side. A great deal of effort was expended to ensure there is no evidence of these extra beds when the cabin is in its normal mode.

There’s also a fully equipped gym, plus a lower saloon, with a huge cinema screen and top end concealed sound system. Quarters for up to 10 crew are provided in five cabins forward. This area has its own access from the foredeck, while guest areas can also be reached from the galley.

What does Whitely like most about the accommodation? “The relaxed feel and the balance between the classic and the contemporary, it really works. I also like the owner’s suite a lot: it’s a fantastic living space.”

modern-classic-royal-huisman-superyacht-aquarius-saloon-credit-Carlo-Baroncini

Aquarius is the latest addition to a very distinguished lineage of modern classics produced in the past decade by a collaboration between Dykstra and Royal Huisman, including Kamixitha , Meteor and Pumula .

It’s a stunningly successful partnership that, with Aquarius , has produced another beautiful new superyacht that combines the ultimate in elegance with superlative comfort, style and performance.

Serious Yachts

The beginning

Introduction The water sports enthusiast and yachts painter Derk Bonsink was planning to buy his own yacht in 2004 when he discovered that no shipyard could deliver exactly what he wanted. He decided to completely refit a 1975 Bowman Trawler and fell in love with yacht building. The first pleasure yacht he created was the Serious Yachts 13.80, soon followed by the Gently 36’ and the Gently 36’ Sport. The latter was even nominated for HISWA motorboat of the year 2009. Serious Yachts was born.
