• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Omg we had a great time, Shawn our captain was amazing and fun. We'll definitely do it again. He chargers for our phones, loud speakers etc, he took our pictures and he was flexible with us. It was a great experience P. S. The only rule we didn't like was the no shoes policy especially slippers lol. We thought no shoes meant heels etc so we wore sneakers, slippers etc but it wasn't accepted but once we bypass that, man let the fun begun 😂 😂

We truly could not have asked for a more perfect sailing experience with Captain James!! Our time on the water was so fun thanks to his warmth, hospitality, knowledge, and love for sailing. Our group (including a toddler) loved experiencing the DC area all the way to Mount Vernon. We surprised our friend for her birthday and it was the most fun. I highly recommend this for any and every group looking for a different experience around DC!

The Fantastic Voyage

Our group of 3 families with 7 small kids 3-7 years old had a great time boating with Troy! His boat seems brand new and he is a great captain, taking care of the group and safe boating very well. It was very easy to communicate and organize the trip with him before it started, and everything went as agreed. We could bring our snacks and drinks and enjoy our own music and beautiful DC views for 2 hours, everyone loved it and had a great time! We highly recommend it!

Enjoy our World Class Service aboard Sea Ray 400 Sundancer

Captain Rod and our host Miguela were a delight the entire time! Miguela made sure we had everything we needed while also staying out of the way and off to the side (I wouldn’t have minded if she involved herself either because she was so pleasant). We were a small group of 4 looking for a relaxing time on the water and that is exactly what we got. The vessel was super clean and today and well stocked. I would definitely book again and recommend them to anyone in the future!

Rent a boat in

Goboat: be your own captain.

Experience the freedom of sailing with GoBoat, where you are the captain of your own rented boat. Enjoy a few hours with friends, family or colleagues on the water and see the city from a whole new perspective.

We ensure a safe experience in a Danish-designed boat while the city offers beautiful sights. The perfect combination for everyone to enjoy each other's company and "hygge". GoBoat has worked internationally with boat rental and experiences on the water since 2014. In the US we started as Float DC and changed brand in 2023 to GoBoat USA.

The boats sail at a leisurely pace of around 3-4 knots, which equates to 3-5 m/h. Sailing so calmly means you can really focus on the experience. Safety is key. So we teach you how to sail - first online via email and then on site when you arrive (please be there 15 minutes before departure).

Each boat has room for 8 people. So you don't have to sit in a big boat with hundreds of tourists. In the boat you'll find a map to help you get the most out of your trip. We have recommended routes, but you decide where you go!

GoBoat is a safe, fun and eco-friendly way to enjoy the beautiful waterways of Washington, DC. 

GoBoat, formerly known as Float DC, offers rentals that are 100% electric, Scandinavian designed, picnic boats for up to 8 people. If you're over 21 and have a valid drivers license, GoBoat allows you to be your own captain and steer the electric vessel up and down the Washington Channel on our own. If you haven’t completed your boaters safety course, GoBoat offers a 1 day license option that will give you the confidence and knowledge you need to navigate the Washington Channel on your own! Prices start at $150 per boat per hour.

GoBoat operates from 8am to 6pm daily from April through October. Feel free to bring your favorite libations and food aboard (red wine not allowed).

• Flying Junior Sailor for Members Only Sail Select this registration type if you are qualified to sail on a Flying Junior by either years of FJ experience or having completed our Intro to FJs Course.

2024 Monday Members Only Sails Programming

Members Only Sails are open to active (paid) DC Sail Members at the Admiral, Basic, Lifetime, Super levels, and Volunteer Instructor Members only. We are unable to accommodate non-Member guests during Members Only Sails on Monday and Wednesday evenings. 

Online registration is required for DC Sail Members who plan to attend Members Only Sails, in order to maintain an appropriate level of attendees for boat allocation. Registration will open on the day of the event at 12:00 Noon. Please only register if you are 100% committed that you’ll attend as you’ll be taking the space from another Member once we reach capacity. Registration will close at 4:00 PM the day of the event.

All sailors will be required to have their own personal life jackets.

When registering, please select either the Flying Scot or Flying Junior registration type. Note that FJ registrations require previous/relevant FJ sailing experience.

If you are an FJ Sailor, please consider registering for the FJ spot so that more Members can attend via Flying Scot boat allocation. Dock Manager will assist in teaming you up with another FJ Sailor.

Weather & Cancellation: Please monitor the weather prior to coming to the docks. For safety, we will close dock operations in the event of thunderstorms in the area within 15 miles and/or when there is an extended forecast for the threat of heavy weather, small craft advisory, poor water quality situations with recent flooding, high winds or no wind situations, and in extreme heat.

If the weather forecast is not reflecting clear and safe sailing conditions, it is likely the event will be cancelled.

While we typically send a notice of cancellation to confirmed registrants as well as post and update to our home page about an hour prior to the 5:30 PM start time, there are occasions where the weather causes a last-minute cancellation of the event. Dock Manager may also cancel the event if the weather becomes dangerous once the boats have launched.

Please arrive between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM for check in and to be allocated to boats.
