One look and you will either fall in love with the Manta or not. These are cult catamarans. Production started in 1993 under the management of Pat Reischmann with the Manta 38 under contract with Endeavour Yachts in Largo, Florida. Production continue their with 40 and 42 foot design introduced. Manta opened their own yard in 2001 in Sarasota, Florida. Multiple versions of the 42 were built as well as a 44 foot power boat developed in 2007. Production ended in 2008 due to health issues of ownership and the financial pullback of the Great Recession.

Manta 42 Mk IV (Chesapeake Bay)

Storyteller is a Maryland based 2007 Manta 42 Mk. IV Catamaran for Sale by Owner. Storyteller is hull No. 118 and began as the builder’s “boat show” boat, featured in magazine articles and at the Miami Boat show. She has never been in charter. The original owners purchased her when Manta closed.

We purchased Storyteller from them in December 2011, sailed her up to the Chesapeake in April 2012, and have been sailing her ever since throughout the Chesapeake and up and down the East Coast and Bahamas. 127 Manta catamarans were built in Florida between 1994 and 2009. The boats were intended for couples who wanted to live aboard and cruise on blue water. Some say the Manta is one of the more comfortable cruising catamarans to this day, with spacious accommodations, refined decks, and high-quality construction. All Mantas are solid glass below the waterline for safety and offer Nida Core coring above the waterline for lightweight, durable, moisture resistant construction. Mantas are very well regarded and capable offshore catamarans (several have circumnavigated), which are easily single-handed. No Problems is Truly Turn Key Ready for Long Range Cruising.  Her 3 cabin 2 heads layout with Fully Enclosed Cockpit, Fiberglass Hardtop, and Full Electronics Including RayMarine Autopilot, Radar Tri-data.  She Boosts a huge color navigation system to keep her crew safe and comfortable while cruising in style.
