Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans ‘shocked’ and outraged’ as star returns after sexual assault allegations

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans have been left fuming after the season five trailer dropped earlier today, following the sexual assault allegations against Gary King.
The bosun first appeared on the Bravo spin-off series in the second season, which aired in 2021, and has remained part of the cast ever since , alongside Captain Glenn Shephard and chief stewardess Daisy Kelliher.
Last year, viewers were shocked after a crew member alleged that the 36-year-old tried to force himself on her behind the scenes – something he fiercely denied.
The accusations emerged after the fifth series had been filmed, with many questioning whether it would ever air due to the controversy.
The dramatic teaser was released today ahead of the release date on October 7, showing King and Kelliher at the forefront of the drama on board.
However, while it is not clear how much of a part he will play in the upcoming season, viewers were reeling over the decision and called Bravo out airing the episodes.

Flocking to the comments below the official Below Deck page, Bravo4therestofus posted: ‘Ummmm my understanding was that Gary was NOT coming back sooooooooo ?!!,!?! [sic].’
Glamisgrrrl agreed: ‘Right?! So gross they’re just letting him come back.’
‘How is Gary back??? And why? Ick,’ Arielle_Smith said.
Over on Reddit, NBCaz commented: ‘Can’t say I’m excited to see that Gary is still gonna be a part of this [sic].’
As Pinsleric added: ‘Not only is Gary not scrubbed, he’s featured in the trailer. I’m genuinely shocked.’
Last year, Samantha Suarez claimed that she met King while preparing for season four in Sardinia and had accompanied him back to his hotel in July 2022, after he had filmed interviews for the show.
The former crew member – who worked on the hair and makeup team, and would also assist the talent manager with tasks – alleged that he was drunk and behaving erratically while she attempted to keep him contained in his room.
She claimed to Rolling Stone that he suggested for her to join him in bed, and that he greeted her in his underwear when she later returned, before coming up behind her and grabbing her, pressing her against his body and refusing to let go.
Suarez said that she immediately informed bosses of the incident and had meetings with executive producers and the show’s talent manager, insisting that she didn’t feel comfortable working around King.
Others also claimed that he was seen grabbing a female staff member’s bum and continued to touch her inappropriately when she asked him to stop.
When one team member reported his behavior, they claimed that no one acknowledged it initially, before a producer eventually stepped in to ask him to stop.
Both Suarez and the crew member, who was vocal about what they witnessed, were reportedly not asked to return to the show, having worked on the franchise for some time – while King returned for the following season.
The allegations emerged in August and the reality star later denied them. He posted a message on Instagram in November, vowing: ‘It’s sad that people will do anything in their power to bring you down.
‘It’s not about how you fall but how you get up. Luckily for me the fall was into a sea of daisies.’
The post is currently still visible and includes some of the hashtags: ‘#iwascancelledbecauseofalie #anythingforaplatform #dontbelieveeverythingyousee #ivegotmyheadheldhigh #worldisanuglyplace #iwouldneverdothat #onwardsandupwards.’
At the time of the Rolling Stone article, a Bravo spokesperson told Metro.co.uk in a statement: ‘Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows.
‘We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns.
‘The concerns Ms Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.’
A spokesperson for 51 Minds Entertainment, the company that produces Below Deck, added to the outlet: ‘51 Minds is committed to providing an environment in which every member of the casts and crews on our productions feel respected and, most importantly, safe.
‘51 Minds provides mandatory harassment and sensitivity training for every series it produces at the outset of each new season and lays out a clear process on how and to whom to report any questionable activity.
‘With any complaint filed, a timely investigation is launched and, based on the findings, appropriate actions are implemented to ensure the safety of our cast and crew, up to and including termination.
‘With regard to the incident reported by Ms Suarez involving Mr King, the case was investigated and reviewed as soon as it was submitted, and production acted accordingly based on the results.’

Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's new season will be anything but smooth sailing.
That's because returning costars Daisy Kelliher and Gary King are anything but friendly after their failed boatmance in E! News' exclusive first look at the Bravo series' fifth season.
Following Daisy, Gary and BDSY alum Colin MacRae 's messy love triangle , Daisy is still reeling from the complicated and dramatic fallout from last season.
"Going into this season, I got rid of some dead weight," the newly single Chief Stew says in the trailer. "The breakup did a number on me last year. I felt very broken. But now, I'm coming back in more focused, full of energy and I'm f--king good at my job. And I'm taking back the reigns."
Despite her initial confidence about returning to the Parsifal III , Daisy adds, "It's gonna be a s--t show."
Cut to the Ireland native yelling at Gary, "Guess what? We have a f--king job to do and I'm not f--king carrying this season on my own, you f--king pr--k!"
But luckily for Daisy, the preview teases her quickly moving on with new Deckhand Keith Allen , who tells Gary, "Daisy would make a very good wife. No?"
As for Gary's response, he bursts out laughing at the crewmember's declaration.
However, Daisy feels the same about Keith and tells him, "You're the kind of person I've never met before."
And when it comes to this season's charter guests, the yachties have too much of a good time with one group on shore.
After a night out, Captain Glenn Shephard warns the team, "You guys went out with some guests, I set some ground rules. Two drinks maximum. You knew the rules, you broke the f--king rules, and now you're here getting upset."

Bravo fans have been waiting a very long time for news about Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5, and the network has finally delivered.
Not only did Bravo just drop a brand-new trailer for the fifth season of the hotly-anticipated reality TV show, the network also confirmed precisely when Below Deck Sailing Yacht will return.
Until today, fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht weren't quite sure the spin-off of Below Deck would return for a fifth season, as the last episode of Season 4 aired way back in July 2023.

In late June, one viewer asked Reddit users if Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 was ever going to happen, and even as recently as this summer, fans weren't sure the show was returning.
In that thread, BDSY fans speculated that Season 5 was delayed due to allegations involving First Officer Gary King.
As we previously reported, Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht featured a wild "love triangle" between Gary, Chief Stewardess Daisy Kelliher , and Chief Engineer Colin MacRae:
"Many things influenced the relationship between Daisy and Colin, but one name was the most prominent: Gary King. "Daisy, Colin, and Gary's entanglement reached a boiling point that got the three in public arguments and name-calling, and at the end, estranged."
A month after Season 4 concluded with a two-part reunion in July 2023, Rolling Stone published an in-depth article , "'Below Deck' Accused of Covering Up Gary Kingâs Sexual Misconduct," rocking the show's audience.
It reported in part:
"Bravos Below Deck was recently lauded for its handling of sexual misconduct when a producer on Below Deck Down Under broke the 'fourth wall' and intervened when one cast member, Luke Jones, tried to get into bed naked with another cast member, Margot Sisson, without her consent while she was inebriated and passed out. Not only was Luke fired from the show, but their fellow cast member and stewardess, Laura Bileskalne, was also let go because of victim-blaming comments she made to Margot about the incident and her own line-crossing pursuit of deckhand Adam Kodra. [...] "Samantha Suarez, who first joined Below Deck in the makeup department on Season 10 of the show, tells Rolling Stone that cast member Gary King tried to force himself on her during production of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season Four, which filmed in Sardinia, Italy, in the summer of 2022."
Fans speculated that Season 5 was delayed due to extensive retooling, but Bravo eventually confirmed the return of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, with a trailer that centers Daisy.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5's Release Date And Trailer
On September 16, Bravo finally released the Below Deck Sailing Yacht trailer.
Bravo shared the clip on Instagram and Twitter/X, to the surprise of fans:
Posts teased the crew's visit to the notoriously riotous destination of Ibiza, and the trailer kicked off with some remarks from Daisy.
Daisy is the first crew member to speak in the trailer, and she addresses the unwieldy love triangle of Season 4:
"Going into this season, I got rid of some dead weight. The breakup did a number on me last year. I felt very broken. "But now, I'm coming back in more focused, full of energy, and I'm f*****g good at my job. And I'm taking back the reins."
Immediately thereafter, the clip cuts to a cabin, where Daisy tells an in-bed Gary that she refuses to "carry this season," before cutting back to newer footage of Daisy laughing and predicting:
This is gonna be a s*** show.
Then the video shifts to Ibiza, where a voiceover describes it as the world's "party capital," and scenes are interspersed with a lot of breaking glass.
Gary (who has not been let go from the franchise) makes an appearance, and the soundbite chosen for the trailer is bizarre given the allegations levied at him last year:
If the guests don't have a good time, we're clearly doing something very wrong.
As the trailer winds down, one of the crew members (likely Deckhand Keith Allen) muses that "Daisy would make a very good wife."
The trailer wraps with an apparent firing, as well as what appears to be a scene during which the crew veers uncomfortable close to another vessel at sea, at night.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 debuts on Bravo on October 7 at 9PM Eastern, and streams on Peacock the following day.

When working side by side with someone 24 hours a day for six to eight weeks straight in cramped conditions, it’s easy to catch feelings ! That’s what’s happened to a number of crew members on the Below Deck franchise, who have fallen for each other while working during charter season. So, which boatmances have stood the test of time, as well as distance? Whether it’s Below Deck , Below Deck Mediterranean , Below Deck Sailing Yacht or Below Deck Down Under , getting a group of young people from across the globe together who love to work hard and party harder is a recipe for hookup action. And while there have been plenty of frisky physical escapades between crew mates, some have turned into actual couples . The most recent duo to reveal they were dating after leaving the show was Ben Willoughby and Sunny Marquis , much to the shock of fans. However, he made it clear to lead deckhand Sunny that they were basically a hookup and nothing more. At one point, he even called ex-girlfriend Camille Lamb from season 10 to ask if she wanted to hang out when he returned to Florida after the charter season. When she shot him down, Ben continued to have a passionate physical romance with Sunny, who had fallen hard for her boss, but didn’t want to get emotionally involved. The pair left the St. David together with the intention of seeing where things might go, although viewers were fairly convinced after Ben’s behavior all season that they were just a showmance. Fans were floored when the day after the season finale aired on May 27, 2024, Ben took to Instagram to reveal the pair were dating and very much together. “Yes, you guessed it, we are still together! Finally we can let go of the secrecy that has been held for the past 15 months,” he wrote in the caption of a series of photos showing the pair. “We want to thank you all for the support throughout season 11 @belowdeckbravo. Soon they were flirting and making out, and Culver decided he wanted to take things to the next level. He asked Jamie to be his girlfriend via a handwritten card where he professed her feelings for her and had her check off a “yes” or “no” box. Feeling pressured, Jamiee checked “yes” although she thought they were moving too fast after knowing each other for only a few weeks. That night, the pair got their own guest room aboard the boat to be intimate for the first time. Their romance had the potential of continuing through another charter season, as one of Culver’s former captains inquired about hiring him for the summer Mediterranean season and needed a stew as well, to which the Maryland native recommended his girlfriend. While Jamiee wasn’t sure if she wanted their boatmance to continue aboard another vessel, she agreed, in part because she’d always wanted to work and play in the Med and was willing to have another adventure with Culver. Jaimee became deeply attracted to handsome new lead deckhand Luka Brunton when he arrived to work on the final charters of the season, regretting getting together with Culver so quickly. The pair drunkenly kissed in a bar after the charter season ended, which Jaimee confessed to Culver, claiming she didn’t remember it. The duo left the boat as a couple although their Med offer fell through. Chief stew Aesha Scott revealed during Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen following the September 18, 2023, finale that the pair took a month-long road trip along Australia’s Western Coastline but that the couple did not mesh well off the boat and called it quits. The pair had known each other for several years, as he hooked up with one of her close friends while she had a fling with one of his pals. “Cheffy” as she was known on the boat didn’t think highly of him after how he treated her friend, but João proved he was a changed man as the two grew close, as he showed off his caring and tender side. While the Zimbabwe native wanted to pursue a boatmance, Tzarina fought back her feelings as to not upset her friend until the September 4, 2023 episode of the show where they finally made out and hooked up. The pair are no longer together, as João celebrated his one-year dating anniversary on June 12, 2023 with fellow yachtie Domi Tiesi , as they work on the same boat. He and chief stew Daisy found themselves drawn into a full-on boatmance. “I knew Colin was single and there’s kind of always been something between me and Colin. So, in a way I was surprised, but I also wasn’t surprised, if that makes sense,” she told In Touch exclusively ahead of the season premiere. “There were little moments that we’d like maybe brush hands or look at each other that I don’t think anyone else really picked up on. But I would kind of be like, oh a moment that lasted a little bit longer and it’s like, ‘is this something?’” she explained, adding, “But he always had a girlfriend, so I always just friend zoned in the whole situation and never kind of expected anything more.” The pair went from making out to sleeping in each other’s bunks in no time flat. Despite his several trysts, Gary said he was in love with Daisy. However, despite a moment during the June 2022 reunion episode where they shared an embrace, Daisy set the record straight that they were just friends. She told E! News in February, “Our relationship is very platonic. We care about each other and like I said we’re both affectionate people, so affection can sometimes lead to kissing. But no, we’re just friends.” During season 4, it was revealed that the two did more than just make out. “Having sex with you was f–king amazing,” Gary confessed after Daisy and chief engineer Colin had embarked on a boatmance, made all the more complicated by the fact that he was Gary’s best friend. Daisy eventually revealed to Colin that she and Gary hooked up in Menorca, Spain, after season 3 wrapped, and again in California after a trip to Disneyland. It made Colin re-evaluate his romance with Daisy, especially since she and Gary still had a deeply flirtatious relationship. Things were made even worse when Daisy called Colin by Gary’s name while the pair were in bed together. There wasn’t a happily ever after though, as Ciara revealed to Us Weekly in April 2021 that the pair had split the prior December, explaining, “I loved him, but I think I was not in love.” She added that not being in close quarters on a boat with Paget made her see their relationship differently. “There were a lot of reasons that it kind of broke down. Their flirtation turned into a a full-on romance, with Jack enlisting fellow crew mates to help him pull off a grand gesture in asking Aesha to officially be his girlfriend. She happily accepted, and it seemed as if the two lovebirds would sail off into the sunset to a happy post-season life together. But once the charter was over, Jack ghosted Aesha. He revealed during the Bravo After Show on October 1, 2019, that when he got home to England, “I thought it was a bit of a forced situation. It wasn’t reality. I thought about it all and called it a day.” Aesha explained on the same show that Jack had asked her to come to London but that he needed to work out dates because he had a wedding to attend. While discussing their post season plans, the cook told her, “I’m gonna get the f—k off this boat, hop in my van, and drive away,” as Jenna began to cry about his view of the future without her in it.
