I was trying to buy a Sea Fox 328 and I have sent numerous request for information to Alex Radcliffe with absolutely no response over several months. Very poor customer service and brand representation!!!!!

I thought about selling my 2002 Chaparral 285 SSI instead of paying for winter storage. After several communications with Brett Stanfield from Off The Hook and sending him all info on the boat and pictures he requested, he told me he would have an offer for me in a few hours. He was waiting for final numbers from his purchasing manager. Instead, I heard nothing for another week so I sent him an email reminding him he said he would have numbers for me a week ago. Brett wrote back saying he had some medical problems and was in the hospital for a few days last week. What a crock! He must have gone into the hospital within a few hours of the previous week's communication because, in that email he said he would get back to me in a few hours. His response to me today when I emailed him about, 'where's my offer that was promised to me a week ago' his response was to bad mouth my boat as being 20 years old, just sell it yourself and 'I don't like your tone' My storage options have decreased due to his delay and I never did get an offer from him. The boat is in excellent condition with only 286 hours in 19 years. His company sells boats older than mine. After looking at their website, it became clear that they usually sell boats that are much higher priced than mine but they do sell older boats. I would advise anyone thinking of buying a boat from these guys, check the Better Business Bureau and the online reviews. You can do better!

Very friendly staff and they have a huge inventory of pre-owned boats. The best pricing I can find anywhere.

10/10 recommend!!! such an amazing group to work with!! It really makes a difference when the team is after your best interests and knowledgeable about their products.

Buyer beware! They are good "salesman" and butter you up until they have your money then they'll screw you. I purchased a Grady white and had them order a new trailer for it from Venture. When the trailer arrived at the dealership they called and said the trailer was the wrong size. They made some adjustments which allowed for safe travel and told me to take the boat and trailer home and they would order the correct trailer. They lied! They now are telling me that I have to pay a 10% restocking fee for this trailer because I pulled it home. 3 months after purchase, 2 payments in to the deal and I haven't been able to use the boat because they didn't want me to splash the trailer. After all of this waiting they are backing out of their word and leaving me high and dry, literally!

Open a west coast location! The brokers in California, or at least the ones we dealt with, don't love selling boats and need a class in customer service. I thought it would be difficult buying a boat across the country but Beau made it very easy and communicated with me throughout the entire process. it's not often that a company actually puts the customer first. I had issues at the time of delivery and Off the Hook took care of them even after the boat was delivered. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

This review is in reference to the 2020 Midnight Express 37 Open with quad 450R's advertised as "SHOWS LIKE BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 100 HOURS". After hours of discussion and negotiation I had the boat under agreement pending shipment, inspection and sea trial in Massachusetts. Within the listing and reiterated in countless conversations with Dennis Gunn (Broker representing Off the Hook), I was reassured that the boat was in pristine condition. Dennis was well aware of my expectations being a seasoned boat owner and having had communicated that I would not accept the boat unless it was immaculate and like new as advertised. After spending the money to ship the boat; the arrival and subsequent inspection was nothing less than a disaster and letdown. Upon starting the boat, the two port engine's water cooling systems weren't functional, the two center props were damaged along with stone bruising from transport, hull sides marked and rub rails damaged. The interior hatches were stress cracked, the side door hinge striker sat unattached, the armrest on the lounge seat had been pulled out of the fiberglass with numerous screws throughout that were backed out or missing. Although the Broker representing Off the Hook agreed with my assessment of the boat and the misrepresentation of its current condition, they would not credit me any portion of the extensive shipping costs. I would NOT RECOMMEND dealing with Off the Hook, they did little to nothing to remediate the situation and will do or say anything to make a sale - this 2020 Midnight Express 37 Open is an abused and neglected boat.

Meet matt pickett.

Born and raised in Durham, NC, Matthew grew up on the water boating and fishing with his father, both inland and at the coast. This sparked his passion for boats that continued throughout his childhood and into his college years; which is when he began buying, fixing, and selling boats of his own. This gave him an all-encompassing perspective of boat needs, functions, and knowledge. Matthew graduated from East Carolina University in 2017 and moved to Wilmington, NC to pursue his dream of living by the water. 

A natural-born salesman, during recent years of working in the operating room as an associate in spine implant sales, he brokered boats on the side. Following his passion and success in brokering, he made the switch to a full-time boat broker in 2023 for a local brokerage in Wilmington, NC. He joined the Off The Hook team in 2024 and is excited to continue serving customers across the country.
