Van Geest Design’s new trimaran concept brings a whole new meaning to “floating home.”

Named after the single-story abodes found primarily in ancient Rome and Pompeii, Domus sports a distinctive shape that results in an inordinate amount of real estate on board. Penned in partnership with Rob Doyle Design, the 130-footer claims to have double the interior space of a catamaran of the same size and all the comfort of a superyacht.

Like its namesake, the vessel is centered around a striking atrium that connects the separate areas. Spanning just shy of 8,500 square feet, the interior is split between two decks and offers six spacious guest cabins, including not one but two owner’s suites with adjoining lounges. Elsewhere, you’ll find a cinema, gym, saloon, bar and a swimming pool. Of course, there’s also a spa so you can relax like a real Roman.

In contrast to the old-world name, the trimaran’s tech is at the bleeding edge. In fact, Van Geest claims Domus will be “the first truly zero-emission yacht over 750 gross tonnes.” To that end, the vessel will use a combination of solar power, hydro-regeneration technology and hydrogen fuel cells to ensure unlimited range and zero emissions. Essentially, the silent cruiser will generate, store and run on solar energy during the day and then switch to the battery system at night. It’s also fitted with a sail that provides extra power from the wind.

To top it off, Domus will be able to heel at an angle of two degrees to reduce drag and improve speeds with maximum comfort and minimal rolling. The Dutch firm says “a guest on board will experience a level of comfort underway, far superior to any sailing or motor monohull.”

Van Geest is known for creating disruptive concepts, like a 459-footer inspired by a pebble and a glass-clad 348-footer called Mirage , that aim to move the needle.

“Just because superyachts are what they are now, does not mean they should stay this way,” the studio said in a statement. “We truly believe that this project will redefine what a multi-hull sailing superyacht can be.”

At the very least, Domus should make a nice home on the high seas.

Domus, a zero-emission superyacht trimaran for a life on one level

Domus is a concept of luxury trimaran with a length of 40 m designed for performance and life on one level. Very wide, it is comfortable and efficient, but above all "clean", at least in its use.

A trimaran with a very important beam master

"Domus is a single-story house built around a courtyard known as an atrium, with no roof, and access to several rooms. Domus were found to have many living areas, including a kitchen, bathroom, dining room and bedrooms."

It is therefore to recall this beautiful house of Roman antiquity that designers Pieter van Geest and Rob Doyl have conceived the Domus concept. It is a 40-meter superyacht trimaran with a very large 35-meter beam that allows for a single level layout, comparable in surface area to an 80-meter monohull, according to the design duo.

"Wide trimarans have proven to be faster than catamarans of the same size. This is the case in offshore/inshore races around the world and notably in 2010 with the victory of BMW Oracle (a 27m trimaran) over Alinghi (a 27m catamaran)" begin the two designers.

"We believe that from 40m upwards, if you want to enjoy the benefits of a multihull, the only practical solution is a trimaran. The research undertaken on multihull superyacht sizes between 80/90m and 40/50m clearly proves this." continue the designers.

A central hull dedicated to on-board systems

Without going into too much detail, Domus can sail on two hulls, with a rather reduced heel angle of 2°. This configuration allows the trimarans to reduce drag and therefore be faster in comparison to a catamaran sailing on its two hulls. All the systems and engineering are in the central hull and not in the two floats. Finally, the rigging forces are also taken on the central hull, which simplifies the arm structures and makes the overall structure simpler.

Zero emission navigation

Domus combines solar panels , hydrogenerators and a hydrogen fuel cell for an announced unlimited autonomy with zero emissions. This optimized solar energy management system allows the boat to run on batteries at night for silent and clean moorings.

A living space on one level

The very large interior space is mainly distributed on one level, without steps. All spaces have a view to the outside. The central hull houses the onboard systems. As mentioned, it carries all the rig loads and serves as the main service area (galley, laundry, crew quarters) and the side floats are dedicated to storage . The full width main deck houses the guests and the owner.

On paper, it is a nice promise, but this concept will have to be fleshed out to study its feasibility. If it is zero emission when sailing, the impact of building such a machine remains important.

bungalow-like interiors

For Domus Trimaran, Van Geest (see more here ) and Rob Doyle (see more here ) have designed a spacious interior of 780 sqm. In addition to the large internal spaces, the superyacht features multiple covered exterior areas, while also allocating all main guest areas on one deck without steps. In this way, Domus generates a unique villa/bungalow-like onboard experience.

The designers have looked at the Domus design from an architectural point of view. ‘Family life in a way is about protection. So why not build around that, create the protected spaces and maximize the functions of the space available in this one-level setup.’ they explain. All spaces are strategically laid out, to enjoy outside views and maintain a connection with what is happening but, at the same time, they are all connected to the communal exterior and interior spaces.

The idea for the Domus Trimaran concept started from a simple question: Why Not? ‘Just because superyachts are what they are now, it does not mean they should stay this way.(…) We were constantly looking at every aspect of the design and saying, ‘I know we do it this way normally but is there a better way?’  the designers share.  ‘Therefore, we truly believe that this project will redefine what a multi-hull sailing Superyacht can be.’ they add. 

After calculating the smallest vessel size that can host a one-floor layout without it being too bulky, the designers started forming Domus as an amalgamation of different innovative ideas. Rob Doyle Design focused on naval architecture, performance, and structural feasibilities, while Van Geest Design developed the styling and layouts.

Domus is a 130FT Trimaran Concept With An Aim To Be Completely Emission-free

Global warming is a concern that can no longer be ignored. The yachting industry has contributed its fair share to the carbon-di-oxide emissions, and there have been conscious efforts to combat and design eco-friendly designs. One such amazing designer is Rob Doyle; with a two-decade experience in the large yacht sector, he is a visionary. "Just because superyachts are what they are now, does not mean they should stay this way. We were constantly looking at every aspect of the design and saying, 'is there a better way? We truly believe that this project will redefine what a multi-hull sailing superyacht can be.", says Rob Doyle. 

The designer has now collaborated with Dutch-born yacht designer  Van Geest Design  to create a unique yacht - a trimaran. Its interior volume compares to that of a 60-meter rival; however, 'Domus' is environmentally conscious and the first of its kind zero emission yacht with over 750 GT. 

Domus is Latin for a single-story house built around an atrium and draws aspects from the design to create a lofty, open feeling. With a beam of 35m, the trimaran can comfortably house various luxuries in its interior space of 780 sq. m. Two decks of Domus can easily accommodate 12 guests within four VIP suites and two owner's suites accompanied by a private lounge area. For recreation, there is a bar in the main saloon along with a cinema room and gym. To make relaxation fun, there is a spa area near the swimming pool. 

Domus is a result of two years of extensive research; the designers have designed her in a way that ables her to reach her maximum potential. Domus can heel at an angle of two degrees to improve her speed and reduce drag. 'The uniquely designed combination of solar power, hydro-regeneration technology and hydrogen fuel cells gives Domus unlimited range with zero emissions.', said the design team. She powers through the daylight hours and transfers over to the battery system at night, thus remaining completely silent with zero emissions while at anchor. 'We strongly believe if you want the benefits of multi-hulls at a 40-meter-plus size, the only practical solution is a trimaran.', the design team adds.

Trimarans are cost-efficient and simple to construct; Domus too has all the systems and engineering located in the central hull, which helps maintain the crossbeam structures simpler and straightforward. 

Alongside the 40-meter concept, the design duo are also working on a larger version of the idea for a shipyard.

The Trimaran Redefining a Life at Sea

Drawing on the architecture of Ancient Rome while incorporating cutting-edge green technologies: the trimaran designed by Van Geest Design and Rob Doyle Design aspires to be the first truly zero-emission superyacht

Translating the ancient Romans’ concept for living on water, design studios Van Geest Design and Rob Doyle Design have created Domus , a luxury trimaran that looks like a real floating Roman Domus. Drawing inspiration from the single story Roman dwelling whose living spaces develop around an atrium, here the designers distributed interiors of the sailing trimaran around two atriums that filter the natural light from the above and, thanks to the dunnage which converts into a platform, offer a unique space for living in close contact with the water.

A trimaran is a type of pleasure craft that offers considerable living space, as its three hulls are connected by a single deck allowing for internal space on a 40 meter vessel comparable to that of a 60 meter monohull. On the main deck of the Domus trimaran , a spa and gym with a pool are developed around the two atriums, which together with the water-level platforms make the yacht look like an authentic villa on the water . Interior spaces are completed with dining, living, lounge/cinema areas, four guests cabins and two VIP cabins with a private lounge and sea views.

“In the last years, we have seen the trend in the industry of ‘being want to be part of the surroundings.’ In a way, trying to design to get the exterior surroundings into the yacht’s interior,” explain the designers Pieter van Geest and Rob Doyle. “In Domus , Pieter van Geest and Rob Doyle looked at it from an architectural point of view. Family life, in a way, is about protection. So why not build around that, create the protected spaces and maximize the functions of the space available in this 1 level setup. All spaces have a view of the outside, so they do not lose the connection with what is happening. Still, they are connected to the communal exterior and interior spaces.”

While the main deck is dedicated to wellbeing, leisure and relaxation for guests, below deck the hulls become containers for technical spaces and areas dedicated to the crew. Specifically, the central hull houses crew cabins, the galley and technical areas, while the two lateral hulls (called “side floats” in trimarans) hold tenders and toys.

In addition to the innovative distribution of spaces, the Domus trimaran aspires to become the first ultra-modern vessel over 750 gross tonnage with zero emissions. “The uniquely designed combination of Solar power, Hydro Regeneration & Hydrogen Fuel cells gives Domus an unlimited range with Zero Emissions,” say the designers. A accumulated system of solar energy and optimized batteries allows the trimaran to work both during day and night, without emissions and silently.

The trimaran is already a stable boat, but to minimize drag and increase performance, Domus was designed to heel at a two-degree angle so that cruising is pleasant, even for those unaccustomed to navigating the seas.

The Domus trimaran represents a great opportunity to reflect on the traditional nautical cannons. “From the start, the approach in Domus has been ' Why Not ,’ explain the designers. “Just because superyachts are what they are now doesn’t mean they should stay this way.”

Può una barca a vela moderna ispirarsi all’Antica Roma? Ne sono convinti i progettisti Van Geest Design e Rob Doyle Design che hanno ideato Domus, un trimarano di lusso che sembra una vera e propria “domus” romana galleggiante. Proprio partendo dalla struttura di un’abitazione romana i cui spazi abitativi si sviluppavano attorno all’atrium, i designer hanno distribuito gli interni del trimarano a vela partendo da due locali che fanno filtrare la luce naturale dalla parte superiore della sovrastruttura. Gli stessi spazi, grazie al pagliolato che si converte in piattaforma, offrono uno spazio assolutamente originale per vivere a contatto con l’acqua.

Il trimarano è già di per sé una tipologia di imbarcazione che offre notevoli spazi vivibili. Questo perché i tre scafi sono collegati da un unico ponte che consente di avere 40 metri quadrati interni corrispondenti a un monoscafo lungo 60 metri. Sul ponte principale del trimarano Domus si sviluppano, attorno ai due atri, una Spa e una palestra con piscina. Mentre gli spazi interni si completano con zona dining, uno spazio living, un’area lounge, cinema, quattro cabine ospiti e due cabine Vip con salottino privato e vista mare.

La natura deve entrare dentro la barca

“Negli ultimi anni abbiamo assistito alla tendenza nel settore nautico di progettare per portare l’ambiente esterno all’interno dello yacht”, spiegano i progettisti Pieter van Geest e Rob Doyle – così abbiamo studiato il progetto di Domus da un punto di vista architettonico. Tutti gli spazi di Domus hanno una vista verso l’esterno; quindi non perdono la connessione con l’ambiente circostante e sono contemporaneamente collegati alle zone comuni esterne e interne”.

Il ponte principale del trimarano è dedicato al benessere, allo svago e al relax degli ospiti; invece sottocoperta gli scafi diventano ospitano spazi tecnici e zone dedicate all’equipaggio. Per esempio nello scafo principale centrale sono collocate le cabine dell’equipaggio, la cucina e delle zone tecniche, mentre nei due scafetti si possono stivare tender e watertoys a disposizione dell’equipaggio.

Navigare a zero emissioni

Altro punto di forza del trimarano Domus è che è concepito per essere ecosostenibile. Aspira infatti a diventare la prima barca ultramoderna oltre le 750 tonnellate di stazza lorda a emissioni zero. “Il mix di energia solare, tecnologia di rigenerazione idroelettrica e celle a combustibile a idrogeno consente a Domus di viaggiare indefinitamente senza emissioni”, dicono i progettisti. Inoltre un sistema di accumulo di energia solare e batterie ottimizzato permette al trimarano di funzionare sia di giorno sia di notte, senza emissioni e in maniera silenziosa.

Il trimarano è già una barca molto stabile. Ma per ridurre al minimo la resistenza aerodinamica e aumentare le prestazioni, Domus è stato progettato per sbandare con un angolo di 2 gradi; così da rendere la crociera molto piacevole, anche per i non avvezzi alla navigazione.

Il trimarano Domus rappresenta un bello spunto per riflettere sui canoni nautici tradizionali. “L’approccio del progetto del trimarano Domus è stato fin dall’inizio Why Not”, spiegano i progettisti. “Solo perché i superyachts sono quello che sono ora non significa che debbano rimanere così”.

Una combinazione di tecnologie per una barca da sogno

“La combinazione di energia solare, tecnologia di rigenerazione idroelettrica e celle a combustibile a idrogeno consente a Domus di viaggiare indefinitamente senza emissioni”, affermano i progettisti.

Un sistema di accumulo solare e batteria ottimizzato assicura che il trimarano funzioni in modo efficiente giorno e notte senza emissioni nocive. Credenziali di tutto rispetto che vanno anche di pari passo con le prestazioni. La barca sarà completamente silenziosa all’ancora, senza generatore o rumore di scarico.

Il Trimarano è rispettoso dell’ambiente

A parte il suo design imponente, Domus è stato progettato pensando alle prestazioni. Per ridurre al minimo la resistenza aerodinamica e aumentare la velocità, il trimarano sarà in grado di viaggiare con un angolo di due gradi, un fattore che si traduce in un rollio minimo, consentendo una piacevole crociera.

Comprende ampi spazi per gli ospiti, la superficie interna della barca è di 783 mq suddivisi in due ponti. Ci sono un totale di sei cabine ospiti, quattro cabine VIP e due enormi cabine armatoriali, ciascuna con la propria area lounge. Servizi interni? Ultra lussuosi. Includono una sala cinema, una palestra e una lounge con bar, oltre ad un gioiello: un centro benessere con piscina.

La parola Domus si riferisce ad una tipica casa romana ad un piano costruita attorno ad un atrio. Questo trimarano utilizza letteralmente aspetti di questo design per creare un ambiente di bordo unico. Una buona prospettiva futura per i prodotti legati al super lusso.

The DOMUS is an innovative concept design for a 40m zero-emission trimaran. The designers behind the trimaran are Van Geest and Rob Doyle , and the design duo amalgamated several innovative ideas to create the first yacht of 750 gross tons with zero carbon emissions.

The yacht combines superyacht luxury with an eco-friendly design, delivering a new direction for the yachting industry.

DOMUS yacht interior

Van Geest and Rob Doyle have combined their ideas to design the spacious interior of DOMUS. DOMUS means a single-story house built around an atrium with many rooms opening off the central atrium area.

The design is built around the idea of these traditional abodes, which originated from Rome and Pompeii.

The trimaran has used this concept to create an open, lofty feeling in the onboard area. The unique shape gives the yacht expansive real estate on board.

The interior of the DOMUS is a 783-square-meter deck split over two decks. There are six cabins on board, with four VIP cabins and two large owners suites with individual lounge areas.

The interior is a floating home on the water with cutting-edge designs and technology.

The spaces are laid out strategically to maximize the family feel of the trimaran and maintain a connection with the views. The interior includes a cinema room, gym, and a saloon with a bar. 

The idea that sparked the design of the DOMUS was “Why not?” The design duo believes that just because superyachts are the way right now, why couldn’t they be done in another way.

The yacht was an amalgamation of different ideas, with Doyle focussing on naval architecture, performance, and structural feasibilities. Van Gees developed the styling and the layouts for DOMUS. 

The vessel’s exterior is sleek and sophisticated and has been designed to bring the exterior of the ocean and views outside into the living spaces with large windows and a central open plan feel to the spaces inside.

The designers are working on a larger version of the 40m concept for a shipyard which could be the future of luxury yacht design.

Specifications

The DOMUS will be the first 40m long zero-emission yacht of 750 gross tons. The unique vessel will be powered by solar power, hydro regeneration, and hydrogen fuel cell systems.

The exterior is lined with solar panels to achieve the zero-emissions goal for DOMUS. The result is a vessel with an unlimited range, high speeds, space, sustainability, and carbon-free, noiseless cruising.

The tri-hull of the trimaran offers several design benefits that the designers are firm believers in. The trimaran is designed to heel 2 degrees to allow the weather hull to come out of the water.

This concept reduces drag and increases performance. This means a high level of comfort onboard for the guests, especially compared to a sailing or motor monohull, which experiences high rolling angles.

Large trimarans are proven to be faster than catamarans of the same size, and this kind of high performance would be impossible to achieve in a superyacht catamaran.

The trimaran is significantly cheaper to construct than a catamaran because it needs only one system in the center hull instead of two.

The yacht is truly the amalgamation of luxury yacht design and eco-friendly sailing.

Rob Doyle Design e Van Geest Design hanno collaborato per presentare Domus, un trimarano a vela di 40 metri con un volume interno che rivaleggia con uno yacht a motore di 60 metri. Con la velocità, lo spazio e la navigazione eco-consapevole in prima linea nel design, Domus mira a diventare il primo vero yacht a emissioni zero di oltre 750 tonnellate di stazza lorda.

“La combinazione dal design unico di energia solare, tecnologia di rigenerazione idroelettrica e celle a combustibile a idrogeno offre a Domus un’autonomia illimitata a zero emissioni”, ha affermato il team di progettazione.

SISTEMI OTTIMIZZATI – “Un sistema ottimizzato di energia solare e accumulo di batterie consente allo yacht di andare a motore durante le ore diurne e poi di trasferirsi al sistema di batterie durante la notte. Ciò significa anche che Domus è completamente silenzioso con zero emissioni mentre è all’ancora”.

Accanto a vere e proprie eco-credenziali, Domus è stata progettata pensando alle prestazioni. Per ridurre la resistenza e migliorare la velocità, sarà in grado di sbandare con un angolo di due gradi. Ciò garantirà anche una crociera confortevole con un rollio minimo.

Lo spazio interno dello yacht copre 783 metri quadrati suddivisi su due ponti. Le cabine ospiti in totale sono sei, con quattro Vip e due ampie suite armatoriali, ciascuna dotata di una propria area lounge. I servizi includono una sala cinema, palestra e salone con bar. Domus ospita anche un’area benessere con piscina.

La parola Domus significa una casa ad un piano costruita attorno ad un atrio, con molte stanze che si aprono dall’atrio centrale. Lo yacht prende in prestito aspetti di questo design per creare una sensazione nobile e aperta a bordo.

Lavorando insieme al progetto, Rob Doyle e Van Geest Design hanno svolto ricerche approfondite sugli aspetti pratici e sugli elementi di sicurezza associati ai trimarani. “Crediamo fermamente che se si vogliono i vantaggi dei multiscafi a una dimensione di oltre 40 metri, l’unica soluzione pratica sia un trimarano”, ha aggiunto il team di progettazione.

“Solo perché i superyacht sono quello che sono adesso, non significa che debbano rimanere così. Guardavamo costantemente ogni aspetto del design e dicevamo: “c’è un modo migliore”? Crediamo davvero che questo progetto ridefinirà ciò che può essere un superyacht a vela multiscafo ben presto”. Oltre al concept di 40 metri, i due designer stanno lavorando a una versione più grande del concept per un cantiere navale.

Domus, un trimarano superyacht a emissioni zero per una vita su un unico livello

Domus è un concept di trimarano di lusso lungo 40 metri, progettato per offrire prestazioni e vita su un unico livello. Molto ampio, è comodo ed efficiente, ma soprattutto "pulito", almeno nel suo utilizzo.

Un trimarano con un baglio molto ampio

"La domus è una casa a un piano costruita attorno a un cortile chiamato atrio, senza tetto, che dà accesso a diverse stanze. La Domus aveva molti ambienti, tra cui cucina, bagno, sala da pranzo e camere da letto"

È per ricordare questa bella casa dell'antichità romana che i designer Pieter van Geest e Rob Doyl hanno concepito il concetto di Domus. Si tratta di un trimarano di 40 metri con un baglio molto ampio di 35 metri che consente un layout su un unico livello, paragonabile per superficie a un monoscafo di 80 metri, secondo il duo di progettisti.

"I trimarani larghi hanno dimostrato di essere più veloci dei catamarani delle stesse dimensioni. Ciò si è verificato nelle regate offshore/inshore di tutto il mondo, in particolare nel 2010 con la vittoria di BMW Oracle (un trimarano di 27 metri) su Alinghi (un catamarano di 27 metri) i due designer iniziano.

"Riteniamo che a partire dai 40 metri, se si vuole godere dei vantaggi di un multiscafo, l'unica soluzione pratica sia un trimarano . La ricerca condotta sui superyacht multiscafo di dimensioni comprese tra 80/90 m e 40/50 m lo dimostra chiaramente" i progettisti continuano.

Uno scafo centrale dedicato ai sistemi di bordo

Senza entrare troppo nei dettagli, Domus può navigare su due scafi, con un angolo di sbandamento abbastanza ridotto di 2°. Questa configurazione permette ai trimarani di ridurre la resistenza aerodinamica e quindi di essere più veloci rispetto a un catamarano che naviga su due scafi. Tutti i sistemi e l'ingegneria si trovano nello scafo centrale e non nei due galleggianti. Infine, anche le forze di sartiame vengono assorbite dallo scafo centrale, il che semplifica le strutture dei bracci e rende più semplice la struttura complessiva.

Navigazione a emissioni zero

Domus combina pannelli solari , generatori idroelettrici e una cella a combustibile a idrogeno per un'autonomia dichiarata illimitata a emissioni zero. Questo sistema ottimizzato di gestione dell'energia solare consente all'imbarcazione di funzionare con le batterie durante la notte per ormeggi silenziosi e puliti.

Spazio abitativo su un unico livello

L'ampio spazio interno è distribuito principalmente su un unico livello, senza gradini. Tutti gli spazi hanno una vista sull'esterno. Lo scafo centrale ospita i sistemi di bordo. Come detto, trasporta tutti i carichi dell'attrezzatura e funge da area di servizio principale (cucina, lavanderia, alloggi dell' equipaggio ), mentre i galleggianti laterali sono dedicati allo stoccaggio . Il ponte principale a tutta larghezza ospita gli ospiti e l'armatore.

Sulla carta è una bella promessa, ma il concetto deve essere approfondito per studiarne la fattibilità. Se è a emissioni zero quando naviga, l'impatto della costruzione di una macchina del genere rimane significativo.

Un'imbarcazione progettata ispirandosi alla domus degli antichi romani.

La vita in mare sarà rivoluzionata per sempre. Ecco Domus il nuovo trimarano pronto a sconvolgere le abitudini di ogni amante del mare. Gli studi di progettazione Van Geest Design e Rob Doyle Design hanno ideato una nuova imbarcazione di lusso ispirata agli antichi romani. 

Traslando il concetto di abitazione degli antichi romani sull’acqua, infatti, è nato il  trimarano di lusso  che sembra una vera e propria  domus romana galleggiante. Partendo dalla struttura della casa degli antichi romani, i cui spazi abitativi si sviluppavano attorno all’atrium, i designer hanno distribuito gli interni del trimarano a vela partendo da due atri che fanno filtrare la luce naturale dalla parte superiore della sovrastruttura e, grazie al pagliolo che si converte in piattaforma, offrono uno spazio unico per vivere a contatto con l’acqua .

DOMUS: IL TRIMARANO DI LUSSO 

Il trimarano è una tipologia di unità da diporto che offre notevoli spazi abitativi, in quanto i tre scafi sono collegati da un unico ponte che consente di avere uno spazio vivibile di oltre 40 metri. Sul ponte principale del trimarano Domus  si sviluppano SPA e palestra con piscina che insieme alle piattaforme a livello dell’acqua fanno sembrare lo yacht un’autentica  villa sull’acqua . 

Un'imbarcazione che promette di rivoluzionare il concept del lusso in mare  e che potrebbe presto soppiantare il dominio degli yatch.

Van Geest Design ha collaborato con Rob Doyle Design su un nuovo trimarano rivoluzionario chiamato Domus. I trimarani di grandi dimensioni hanno dimostrato di essere più veloci dei catamarani di dimensioni equivalenti. Ciò è ben dimostrato nel mondo delle regate offshore/inshore e nell’Americas Cup 2010, dove BMW Oracle (trimarano di 27 metri) ha battuto Alinghi (catamarano di 27 metri).

Domus è progettata per uno sbandamento di 2 gradi per consentire allo scafo meteorologico di uscire dall’acqua, riducendo così la resistenza aerodinamica e aumentando le prestazioni. Questo è impossibile da ottenere in un catamarano Superyacht.

Più facile da costruire – I sistemi del catamarano devono essere raddoppiati per i due scafi, questo aumenta notevolmente il costo della nave, seguendo la rotta del trimarano abbiamo tutti i sistemi e l’ingegneria nello scafo centrale proprio come un normale metodo di costruzione.

Tutte le forze sartiame sono assorbite dallo scafo principale, mantenendo così le strutture delle traverse più semplici e generalmente la struttura complessiva più lineare.

Più spazio – A causa del fatto che uno scafo può essere sollevato fuori dall’acqua, i trimarani generalmente hanno molto più raggio. Ciò equivale direttamente a più volume interno e spazio sul ponte. Più comfort – Con tre scafi in acqua all’ancora, si ha un migliore effetto di smorzamento sul Trimarano rispetto a un catamarano, quindi una piattaforma più solida e movimenti notevolmente ridotti rispetto ai monoscafi. Poiché Domus è progettata con un angolo di sbandamento di 2 gradi, gli ospiti a bordo sperimenteranno un livello di comfort durante la navigazione, di gran lunga superiore a qualsiasi monoscafo a vela oa motore, che può subire angoli di rollio elevati.

Il primo yacht a emissioni zero superiore a 750 tonnellate di stazza lorda La combinazione dal design unico di energia solare, rigenerazione idroelettrica e celle a combustibile a idrogeno offre a Domus un’autonomia illimitata con emissioni zero. Un sistema ottimizzato di energia solare e accumulo della batteria, consente allo yacht di navigare durante le ore diurne e quindi di trasferirsi al sistema della batteria di notte. Ciò significa anche che Domus è completamente silenziosa con Zero Emissioni mentre è all’ancora. Sono finiti i giorni del rumore del generatore e degli odori di scarico mentre sei seduto nel tuo ancoraggio idilliaco.

SPAZIO – Considerando le scelte relative ai criteri tecnici e prestazionali dei multiscafi Van Geest lo dice nella Domus lo spazio interno è doppio rispetto ai catamarani di 40 metri. Oltre agli spazi interni più ampi e esterni coperti, il fatto che le aree principali per gli ospiti siano tutte su un ponte senza gradini conferisce a Domus un’esperienza a bordo come una villa/bungalow unica. Dentro fuori o fuori dentro? Negli ultimi anni Van Geest ha visto la tendenza nel settore dell'”essere desiderosi di far parte dell’ambiente circostante”. In un certo senso, cercando di progettare per portare l’ambiente esterno all’interno dello yacht. In Domus lo guardavano da un punto di vista architettonico. La vita familiare in un certo senso riguarda la protezione. Allora perché non costruire intorno a questo, creare gli spazi protetti e massimizzare le funzioni dello spazio disponibile in questa configurazione a 1 livello.

Tutti gli spazi hanno una vista verso l’esterno, quindi non perdono la connessione con ciò che sta accadendo, ma sono tutti collegati agli spazi comuni esterni e interni.

Catamarano VS Trimarano Negli ultimi anni c’è stato un crescente interesse per i catamarani più grandi. La ragione di questo maggiore interesse sono 3 percezioni/idee principali sul perché i catamarani siano migliori dei monoscafi. Più spazio, prestazioni più elevate e angoli di sbandamento significativamente più bassi durante la navigazione. Guardando in profondità queste percezioni/idee, tutto non è come sembra, e può diventare molto complicato quando iniziamo a parlare di multiscafi Superyacht superiori a 40 m. Quando si guardano i grandi multiscafi, ci sono altri 3 fattori, il costo, la complessità del sistema e la progettazione strutturale.

SBARCO A TRIESTE – Il team dietro il progetto Domus è stato coinvolto nella progettazione di oltre 60 Superyacht e ha una vasta esperienza di progettazione dettagliata, conoscenze e dati che ci danno la sicurezza di intraprendere un progetto del genere”. Persone dello staff vicine all’armatore fanno intendere che ci potrebbe essere una “toccata” anche a Trieste, probabilmente nel 2023.

Rimsky-Korsakov Memorial Apartment Museum

The youngest and probably the greatest of the "Mighty Handful" of composers who strove to establish a Russian nationalist style of classical composition in the late 19th century, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) was born in the provincial town of Tikhvin (now in the Leningrad Region), but came to school in St. Petersburg and remained in the city for the rest of his life.

A naval officer who later became Inspector of Naval Bands and a professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, Rimsky-Korsakov was a prolific composer, perhaps most famous for his fifteen operas, nearly all of which are based on Russian history or folklore. They comprise a significant part of the opera repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre , and visitors who wish to find out more about the man and his music are advised to visit this museum on Zagorodny Prospekt, where more than two thirds of them were composed.

Four rooms in the museum are reconstructions of original interiors, the centrepiece of which is a grand piano played on by Scriabin, Rachmaninov, and Stravinsky among others at Rimsky-Korsakov's celebrated musical soirees, which attracted many of the leading lights of St. Petersburg's cultural world, including Feodor Chaliapin and the painters Ilya Repin, Vasiliy Serov, and Mikhail Vrubel. This tradition is echoed in the numerous concerts held at the museum, both in the sitting room and in a 50-seat concert hall.
