These boats conformed to the proven design and construction found in North Sea fishing vessels which sailed in all weather conditions. Malahides were designed by Myles Stapleton and constructed primarily in Norway, Ireland, and Portugal depending on the model. All of the boats had in common: hull construction using heavy timbers, framing, and planking; single engine propulsion with very large engines; extensive tankage for long distance travel; independent power generation capability; and extensive safety systems for offshore voyaging. Our 65’ Malahide Trawler Yacht Pilothouse model is a fine example of the type. The boat has been professionally maintained and actively chartered with a Jones Act Waiver that goes with the ship. All systems and structure are inspected and maintained or upgraded each season. The boat is well-equipped with an approval for up to 12 passengers for hire. As a private yacht, the boat has grace and character with ample accommodations and comfort features. Accommodation features include: -Three comfortable private staterooms plus crew quarters and off-watch pilothouse berthing; -Full galley with extensive freezer and refrigeration compartments and food storage; -Private Master Suite marine head compartment with shower; -Guest marine head compartment with shower; -Berthing for three crew members and a private marine head compartment in the crew quarters; -Gracious living space in the main salon, a forward lounge, and outside deck spaces; Mechanical and ship systems include: -Caterpillar 375 HP main engine with complete top end rebuild in 2017; -Robust running gear with major rebuilding in 2016; -Two diesel generators plus a massive house battery bank; -Hydraulic windlass and heavy duty ground tackle for safety; -Extensive and current ship navigation and safety systems; -This vessel is fully equipped for charter service including shore boats, kayaks, and more. Our 65’ Malahide Trawler Yacht is proven as a capable and gracious yacht for long distance cruising and living aboard, as well as having demonstrated multiple years of success in charter service. The condition of the boat today is excellent due to professional maintenance and proactive stewardship. The ability to operate in charter provides financial leverage and an exciting potential to explore distant places with clients. This is a true heritage vessel that offers a compelling lifestyle opportunity for the next owner. malahide trawler yacht

1975 SOUTHERN MARINE MALAHIDE TRAWLER

"connda vennessa".

CONNDA VENNESSA is truly a unique yacht, built to massive scantlings that are usually found in a vessel twice her size. Her hull is so strong that she can take just about anything the sea can throw at her. Stabilized and with a deep draft, her motion is quite comfortable in any sea state. With a range of over 3000 miles, she is capable of going anywhere in the world.

In 2006/07 her present owners refitted CONNDA VENNESSA totally. The hull and superstructure have been taken back to bare, any rot or damage rectified and repainted. The deck has been relaid and the engine room completely rebuilt. Most of the systems have been either totally overhauled or rebuilt. The interior has been completely re-modled giving her a pleasing and contemporary feel without losing her traditional good looks and atmospheric feel. She has had a further refit 2010, and everything is in good cosmetic and operational condition.

Last refit 2013/2014.

It is impossible to overstate the considerable volume and comfortable four -stateroom layout that

CONNDA VENNESSA offers. Her 6.8m beam gives the impression of a 90′ motor yacht. Couple this spaciousness with her low rpm Kelvin diesel, the comfort and warmth of a wood interior with her massive, overbuilt Iroko hull, and you have a rare and wonderful vessel. Kelvin Diesels are renowned for their reliability. Used by trawler fleets around the World they have an enviable reputation. They are still in production and almost exactly the same model is being manufactured today. CONNDA VENNESSA is an economical yacht to run. In her previous ownership she cruised extensively in the North Atlantic, North Sea, Irish Sea and Mediterranean and in the Red Sea. She is now fully equipped for comfortable Mediterranean cruising.

CONNDA VENNESSA is an exceptional motor yacht that is now being offered in fully turnkey condition and which is perfect either for local cruising or to cross oceans, which she will manage effortlessly. She is super value given her huge construction and the scale of the recently completed refits.

In 2006/07 CONNDA VENNESSA was totally refitted, work to the structure included:

Hull completely stripped to bare wood, rotten planks (approximately 3 sqm) replaced, the hull planks were refastened and the whole hull was completely recaulked.

The non-operational stabilizer fins were removed and 2 x 2 new bilge keels were added. The hull was faired and painted. The yacht is single plank wood construction and therefore some movement is expected, hence a semicommercial paint finish was chosen.

Areas of the superstructure, where rot was found or suspected, were replaced with marine plywood and protected with fibreglass and epoxy where required; further work to this was carried out 2010

All windows are replaced, all window frames replaced and varnished. All portholes were chrome plated and fitted with new windows.

A completely new deck was been laid both on main and bridge decks, an area of approximately 120 sq metres.

The mizzen was removed in order to create an outdoor living area underneath sun awning. The deck above the bridge was converted into a sun bathing area with a 10 sq metre 3-piece cushion.

In the course of normal maintenance the hull was stripped back to bare wood 2010/11 and has been totally repainted.

During the 2013/14 maintenance period the hull has been completely repainted, among other improvements.

The boat was built to the rugged “Det Norske Veritas” construction standards, certifying her to operate year round in the extreme conditions of the North Sea. Construction is of carvel planking over massive timbers and frames with a laminated keel. The hull is fastened with locust wood trunnels, which swell in the timbers to form a tenacious, corrosion-free connection. Galvanized steel and bronze fasteners are used in a supplementary way in other places in the vessel. Norwegian Pitch Pine forms the primary hull structure material with a welded aluminum cabin and pilothouse for strength, lighter weight aloft, and durability. The hull and aluminum superstructure were fabricated in Norway and the boat was delivered under her own power to Ireland for completion at the Southern Marine shipyard in Malahide. This boat has been professionally maintained as a United States documented charter vessel with a 2018 survey proving the condition of the vessel as “very good and serviceable” for “operation in the waters of the Pacific Northwest, Southeast Alaska, and along the west coast of the continental US and into Mexico waters.”

Water tanks: SS (250 gallons), plastic (250 gallons); Holding tank: plastic (88 gallons) (new with all new lines and macerator pump in 2017).

Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

The layout features a forward cabin crew’s quarters, three staterooms for guests, a large galley with ample storage, a generous salon and lounge area, and a pilothouse with separate cabin.

Enter the forward crew’s quarters through a large deck shuttle companionway. This cabin is set up with a lower double and upper single berth, a settee, a marine head compartment with shower, and ample storage.

From the main deck, you may enter the cabin spaces from a port side or cockpit doorway. The aft door opens to a large salon with a settee to port and L-shaped settee to starboard with a large glass table. Teak cabinetry and desks provide for ample storage. Large windows permit splendid views and open for ventilation.

Forward from the saloon is the large galley. You will find a three burner propane stove with oven, microwave, a new refrigerator with freezer and a large built-in refrigerator in this space. A very large freezer is below decks for ample food storage. A large opening window complements the galley.

This features a large queen-sized berth with Tempurpedic mattress (2015), teak hanging lockers and drawers, and a portlight hatch to the outside plus an overhead hatch to the deck. An ensuite head compartment includes a shower compartment with seating and a port light hatch for ventilation.

Forward down a hallway a storage compartment to port provides access to the large freezer and storage for cleaning supplies and equipment. Opposite to starboard is the guest head compartment with a large shower and opening port light. The hallway leads forward to the guest cabins.

The port side guest cabin features upper single and lower double berths, ample storage in drawers and lockers, and an opening hatch to the foredeck plus opening port light to port. VIRTUAL TOUR - VIDEO - 80 TO 100 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS Malahide Trawler Yacht! Malahide Trawlers were created as long-distance ocean-capable voyaging yachts.

Accommodation features include:

-Three comfortable private staterooms plus crew quarters and off-watch pilothouse berthing; -Full galley with extensive freezer and refrigeration compartments and food storage; -Private Master Suite marine head compartment with shower; -Guest marine head compartment with shower; -Berthing for three crew members and a private marine head compartment in the crew quarters; -Gracious living space in the main salon, a forward lounge, and outside deck spaces;

Mechanical and ship systems include:

-Caterpillar 375 HP main engine with complete top end rebuild in 2017; -Robust running gear with major rebuilding in 2016; -Two diesel generators plus a massive house battery bank; -Hydraulic windlass and heavy duty ground tackle for safety; -Extensive and current ship navigation and safety systems; -This vessel is fully equipped for charter service including shore boats, kayaks, and more.

Curtis Stokes was born in Lewes, Delaware and grew up in nearby Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and St. Michaels, MD until he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1992. Curtis grew up on the water and around boats through many years of fishing, sailing and hunting up and down the East Coast of the U.S. and The Bahamas.

While attending Washington College, in Chestertown, Maryland, Curtis decided to obtain his real estate license and joined his father’s real estate firm, Anderson-Stokes Realtors. Curtis became president of the firm after his father’s death and led the company through its expansion to 20 offices and expanded the publicly traded company into insurance, advertising and development. The company was sold in 1991 and Curtis decided to pursue his real love of the water and made yachting his career.

Curtis’ yachting career includes everything from a 75’ Trumpy to a 180’ Feadship, 2½ circumnavigations and a half dozen Atlantic Ocean crossings. He has been associated with and enjoyed worldwide cruising on such well known vessels as EXCELLENCE, FIFFANELLA, OUR TOY, MOECCA, RENEGADE, KISSES and HUNTRESS. Curtis also gained experience as sales manager at Hatteras Yachts, in New Bern, NC, where he helped develop and sell new models and train and coordinate his dealer network.

Curtis then spent six years as a very successful yacht sales broker with The Sacks Group Yachting Professionals, Inc. Curtis was consistently a top producer at the firm. Curtis decided to form his own yacht sales and charter firm September 1, 2009, which took off on a very successful start, even in a recession! Curtis has grown the company to multiple offices and 50 full time sales associates located around the US; and he has sold virtually every type and size of yacht and boat possible.

Curtis held a USCG 3000 ton All Oceans Master license, UK MCA Class IV Master certificate, Cayman Islands Master certificate and a PADI Divemaster certificate. He is also a former Emergency Medical Technician, firefighter and CPR instructor.
