Tour The Black Swan , the World’s Most Elegant Superyacht

As the name suggests, superyachts are meant to garner attention . From Zaha Hadid’s stunningly crafted ships to vessels featuring waterfalls , these massive floating crafts are becoming ever more exquisite in design. And the latest concept superyacht, by designer Timur Bozca, is no exception. Dubbed The Black Swan for its black exterior and graceful aesthetic, the striking structure is proof of the power of simplicity. According to Bozca, who splits time between offices in Istanbul, Milan, and London, the superyacht was crafted by connecting “simple lines together with dramatic angles and curves.”

“Using the powerful image of an arrow as my inspiration, I tried to create an aerodynamic exterior that would give the yacht a distinctive look, while also improving the efficiency of the craft in the water,” said Bozca in a statement. The yacht will include four engines that can generate 23,172 horsepower, hitting a top speed of 32 m.p.h. Made from aluminium and steel, the yacht features a stunning pool that funnels toward the stern and seems to disappear into the ocean. The Black Swan also includes a sundeck, balconies that are hidden from view, and a rooftop helipad.

The superyacht will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests across a master suite and six guest suites. The yacht is still in its initial design stage, but if built as shown, it would cost upwards of ten million dollars.

The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Black Swan Superyacht is a luxurious 70-meter floating getaway has been designed to be as technically-advanced “under the hood” as she is mesmerizing to look at. The yacht’s arrow-shaped aerodynamic design not only ramps up her “cool quotient” – she ensures her high efficiency.  The Black Swan is here to captivate those, who have the eye for style, luxury, technology and most importantly travelling by sea.

Black Swan’s four engines, capable of revving up to an impressive 23,172 in horsepower, are fueled by a staggering 183,000 liter fuel capacity. Cruising speed is around 20 knots, with a top speed of 28.

This ‘concept’ yacht has been designed with state-of-the-art technology to redefine the term experience, style and luxury, and to give her owner a supreme experience in travelling.. The hull is made of reinforced steel and the superstructure is constructed of sleek black aluminum. An on-board water tank ensures that the yacht leaves port with a supply of 38,600 liters of fresh water.

The Black Swan Superyacht can accommodate up to 12 guests and a staff of 18. The master cabin and six guest cabins are decorated in earth tones with black walls and glass accents that give the décor a futuristic look, included a helipad, pool and multiple sunning decks.

‘black swan’ weather phenomenon may have sunk bayesian yacht, experts say.

A rare and unexpected “black swan” weather event may have led to the Bayesian superyacht’s speedy demise , maritime experts claim.

The spontaneous formation of a tornado-like waterspout would have given the 22 passengers and crew aboard the luxury vessel little to no time to react to the violent storm Monday before the ship capsized and sank, killing one and leaving six others missing.

Marine experts believe the large waterspout — a slim column of spinning air below a thunderstorm that occurs over water — was a “black swan event” or a weather phenomenon characterized by its extreme rarity and severe impact, similar to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, they told the Times UK.

“That water carries significant weight,” Matthew Schanck, chairman of the Maritime Search and Rescue Council, told the Times. “And if the waterspout ends up dumping a load of that water on board the vessel, that’s going to cause significant damage.”

The Bayesian is believed to have sunk within minutes after being struck by the early morning storm. Six people, including British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and top New York City lawyer Christopher Morvillo, remained missing Wednesday as Italian officials investigate the ship’s sudden sinking.

One expert, Andrea Ratti, a nautical design professor at Milan Polytechnic University, suggested the ship may have sunk so quickly because its windows, portholes or other openings may have been broken or smashed open by the powerful waterspout, allowing the vessel to quickly fill and sink.

However, a UK industry expert said sinking a ship of that size should have taken hours.

“I don’t think the industry has ever faced anything like this. It’s a horror story,” the unnamed expert declared.

Meteorologists told the outlet the weather conditions that led to the ship’s demise were consistent with a waterspout and that a lot of unpredictability comes with tornado warnings.

“There was a big thunderstorm just to the north of Sicily, a lot of lightning activity, lot of heavy rain, very strong signature of what we call ‘cold cloud tops’ on the satellite pictures. All of those things would add up to a thunderstorm that could easily spawn a waterspout,” said Dr. Pete Inness, a meteorology lecturer at the University of Reading in Berkshire, UK.

Inness noted that with tornado warnings, officials can estimate when and where they will happen, but until one forms, they don’t know all the details, including how strong they will be.

Additionally, like tornadoes, waterspouts are short-lived weather events that go undetected on radars. Along with the fact that it was dark out during the storm, it would’ve been difficult for the crew to realize what was happening, Inness said.

There were 18 confirmed waterspouts off the coast of Italy on Aug. 19, according to the International Center for Waterspout Research.

Other experts questioned why the crew wasn’t paying closer attention to various weather warnings ahead of the tragedy.

“I don’t know if there was anyone on board consulting the radar. Let’s say that if I had been on board, at the first sign of a thunderstorm, I would have woken up all the occupants and been ready and alert with lifejackets on until the storm was over,” one of Italy’s leading climate experts, Luca Mercalli, told the outlet.

Even if they had been paying closer attention, it was unlikely the crew could have been prepared for such a “high impact, low probability” weather event, Schanck added.

“I’ve reviewed the forecasts. There was nothing other than thunder. There was nothing that jumped out to me that made it a dangerous decision to anchor there,” he said.

The experts also squashed a theory shared by American entrepreneur Scott Painter , who suggested the ship’s 240-foot-tall mast — the tallest of its kind — may have made the vessel more vulnerable in the powerful weather event.

One rescue diver told Italian media the yacht was “practically intact” underwater, and Tom Sharpe, a former Royal Navy commander, said the idea that the mast would make the ship unstable was “just incorrect.”

“That mast is designed to have a massive sail hanging off it. So on its own with no sail, that’s not what has caused the boat to go over.”

An official investigation into the incident will likely take months, prosecutors in Sicily said.

Seconda giornata di Rolex Swan Cup, ieri, sulle acque antistanti Porto Cervo caratterizzata da instabilità meteo, nonostante la quale il Comitato di Regata è riuscito a far disputare sia la regata costiera, prevista per tutte le classi, che una prova a bastone per i soli ClubSwan 36, rinunciando alla seconda a causa di un temporale che ha reso il vento instabile. Per la stessa ragione anche la regata costiera è stata leggermente accorciata per le Divisioni Swan A e C e per le Classi One Design, mentre il taglio di percorso per la Divisione B, gli Swan Sparkman & Stephens, è stato maggiore.   Le previsioni di vento leggero tra i 6 e i 10 nodi da est-nordest in rotazione a est-sudest sono state confermate, alle 13.30 CEST il Comitato di Regata ha dato l’avvio alla regata costiera su un percorso tatticamente interessante: dopo aver girato la boa di disimpegno posta a un miglio e mezzo, seguita da un off set al traverso, la flotta si è diretta al lasco verso la Secca di Tre Monti, con l’interessante opzione tattica di poter passare esternamente al Passo delle Bisce oppure di attraversarlo. Lasciata a dritta la boa nei pressi della Secca di Tre Monti, gli Swan si sono diretti di bolina verso l’Isola dei Monaci, doppiata la quale hanno fatto rientro a Porto Cervo. Per gli Swan Sparkman & Stevens, la riduzione di percorso ha visto l’arrivo posizionato alla boa della Secca di Tre Monti.  Vincitori di giornata sono stati: Maxi Grand Prix, Swan 82 Kallima- Randstad ; Maxi Cruiser, Swan 90 Freya ; Mini Maxi Grand Prix, Swan 60 Sea Quill ; Mini Maxi Cruiser, Swan 65 Marlin II ; S&S Racing, Swan 38 Mascalzone Latino ; S&S Classic, Swan 36 Isabella ; Swan Grand Prix, Swan 45 From Now On; Swan Cruiser, Swan 54 Katima. La flotta Swan all'uscita del Passo delle Bisce con il temporale in arrivo Ha navigato particolarmente bene lo Swan 82 Kallima – Randstad Sailing Team con Paul Cayard al timone, Tommaso Chieffi alla tattica e Federico Michetti alle scotte, oggi secondo nella divisione Swan Maxi A per soli 16 secondi dietro a Freya , ma primo nella sottoclasse Grand Prix. Altrettanto bene ha navigato, il 60 CR Sea Quill di Andrea Fornaro tra gli Swan Mini Maxi A, dimostrando ottima velocità e pulizia di esecuzione delle manovre. A bordo anche la 17enne Maddalena Spanu , atleta del programma sportivo Young Azzurra e campionessa del mondo in carica di Wingfoil. Francesco Mongelli, navigatore su Freya : “La vittoria odierna è arrivata grazie al lavoro dell’equipaggio che manovra in modo eccellente, con cambi di vele perfetti su una barca molto ben preparata. Questo ci ha aiutato a recuperare alcuni errori di strategia e siamo di nuovo primi al calcolo del tempo compensato, oggi non era affatto semplice con i piovaschi che hanno portato molta instabilità sia nell’intensità che nella direzione del vento”.  Con il primo posto odierno, lo Swan 45 modificato argentino From Now On si mantiene saldamente al comando nella sottoclasse Grand Prix della Divisione Swan C. Anche nella sottoclasse Crociera Swan C lo Swan 54 tedesco Katima bissa il primo posto di ieri, ma lo Swan 53 CB Bedouin, arrivato dall’Australia, fa la doppietta al secondo posto. Nella Divisione B S&S Classic lo Swan 47 CB Matilda mantiene la testa della classifica provvisoria grazie al secondo posto che segue al primo di ieri. Nella Divisione B S&S Racing la classifica provvisoria vede ancora al comando lo Swan 48 tedesco Elan , ma seguito a un solo punto da Mascalzone Latino I ClubSwan 50 impegnati nella regata costiera hanno visto il bis dello scafo tedesco Olymp che guida nettamente la classifica provvisoria. Secondo posto di giornata per Vitamina , il cui randista, Alberto Bolzan ha spiegato: “Per Vitamina è stata una buona giornata, un secondo posto oggi con vento così imprevedibile a causa dei piovaschi attorno al campo di regata non è scontato. Il vento molto leggero saltava un po' da tutte le parti, ha pagato bene andare a navigare sotto costa sfiorando gli scogli sotto Capo Ferro, che ben conosciamo. Da domani si tornerà tra le boe con le regate a bastone, siamo determinati a continuare come abbiamo fatto oggi”. ClubSwan 50 in regata, Rolex Swan Cup 2024 Con la terza vittoria consecutiva il ClubSwan 42 Canopo allunga in testa alla sua classe, tra gli Swan 45 è Ulika a guidare la classifica provvisoria. Tra i ClubSwan 36 Black Seal mantiene il comando provvisorio ma tallonato, con due punti di distacco, dal vincitore di giornata Fra Martina. Una volta a terra, gli equipaggi hanno trovato il consueto rinfresco post regata seguito da un piacevole concerto rock ad opera della Swan Bandits, una band composta da regatanti Swan, nel più puro spirito amichevole della Rolex Swan Cup. Oggi le regate riprendono alle ore 12.00 CEST con le prove a bastone per la Divisione One Design nella quale debutterà il nuovissimo ClubSwan 28. Courtesy of Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Fall at Walt Disney World brings a lot of excitement from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom to the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival taking over World Showcase. But just outside of the gates of EPCOT is another food and wine festival that many Disney fans don’t know about: the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic . The two-day food festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and will take place on Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16. “It’s an honor and privilege for us to have successfully hosted the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic for 15 years. This milestone year is a testament to our continued commitment to ensuring culinary excellence remains a major part of the guest experience here,” says Greg Sherman, director of food and beverage at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin . The 2024 event will have the longest hours in the event’s history, starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 9:30 p.m. In another first, the Food & Wine Classic will have an event record-setting 45 dishes to try and more than 170 beverages to taste from 85 booths set up along the causeway between the Swan and the Dolphin, reaching down to the resort’s sprawling pool area. What we love about this secret food festival is that all of your food and drink are included in the ticket cost — so there’s no whipping out your wallet each time you want to try something and there will be no fiddling with food or drink tickets, either. The food samples and booths are all a tribute to the resort’s on-site restaurants and chefs. In addition, there are also larger themed areas that showcase regional and international cuisine, like a miniature Chinatown and an area dedicated to fresh Florida cuisine.  “Our most important goal is to leverage our expertise and creativity to the delight of our guests and we are immensely grateful to those who come from near and far to experience what we have to offer each year,” says Sherman. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic’s culinary highlights With more dishes than ever to try, you’re going to want to attend both nights of the Food & Wine Classic. And it’s important to note that the menus for each food station are different on Friday versus Saturday.  “The culinary experience is a key element of that [Disney] magic. We showcase our innovation in food and beverage with constantly evolving offerings which give us an opportunity to present new flavors, styles, and approaches,” explains Sherman. “We empower our culinary team to bring forth ideas and concepts that are certain to surprise and delight our guests.”  On Friday, guests can try some of the innovations in food such as hand-crafted smoked bacon with braised greens, carrot purée, artisanal bread purée, and shaved vinegar heirloom apple from Smokin’ D’s BBQ. Another highlight of the Friday menu is a new dish of hand-made harissa spiced lamb sausage that’s served alongside bulgar wheat, smoked yogurt, and fennel onion salad.  Saturday brings an all-new menu to try at some stands. From The Fountain, you can try a Reuben sandwich with pickled mustard seed, Russian dressing, house-cured cabbage, and marble rye bread. An all-new dish to the festival lineup for Saturday is the Korean “No Mayo” Salad, with rice noodles, bean sprouts, cucumber, kimchi, and cashews. Some of the more popular restaurants at the resort complex will host the same menu on both nights of the festival. This is the case for Shula’s Steak House, where Roasted Linz Heritage Black Angus Beef Tenderloin served with marble potatoes, caramelized onion purée, horseradish, and béarnaise sauce will be served on Friday and Saturday. Todd English’s Bluezoo will also feature the same menu of Roasted Sablefish with black garlic miso butter and a Shaved Asparagus Salad with cured yellowfin tuna as its two dishes. Rosa Mexicano rounds out the restaurants serving the same menu. At this booth, there will be tempura-fried cauliflower tacos, fish tacos, and the restaurant’s signature guacamole.  Food & Wine Classic will have four themed food areas that will serve the same menu on Friday and Saturday. The first is an ode to fresh Florida dishes at For The Love of Florida. Here, you’ll find dishes like Seminole Pumpkin Fry Bread and Grilled Florida Oysters with a side of house-made kumquat hot sauce. At the Beer Garden, hot buffalo wings are always a hit — along with boiled peanuts and miso butter-tossed Brussels sprouts. Adults will instantly be brought back to childhood at Carnival Corner, where corn dog bites and chipotle macaroni and cheese are on the menu. An all-new dessert zone, called Pastry, will feature sweet delights like Caramel Banana Creme Brûlée, Mandarin Cream Beignets, and Chocolate Blackberry Choux Puff.  All-you-care-to-drink wine and more As part of your ticket to the Food & Wine Classic, you’re privy to trying 170 different drinks from around the world. While the festival mostly focuses on wine from places like Argentina, California, France, and Spain, you can also try craft brews at the beer garden. Eagle-eyed festival goers will also notice that the Japan drink booth serves sake, which is a real treat.  Each drink is included in your ticket price, so try as much as you wish. Just be sure to never drink and drive. If you plan on partaking in alcohol, consider booking a room at the resort for the night, getting a rideshare to and from the resort, or having a designated driver in your group.  Learn how to create cocktails and pair wine at interactive seminars Every year the Food & Wine Classic features educational seminars where guests can learn how to do everything from blend wine to create craft cocktails. Each of the $85 per person seminars is led by a member of the resort’s food and beverage team. This year, the event has three seminars, two of which are new. The first new option is called Beer Here! , where guests learn about and taste some of the craft beer made in Florida. The second option is Salud! A Journey Through Spain , which showcases wine from Spain, teaching people about wine regions, types of wine, and how to pair wine. The last seminar of the weekend is a fan-favorite, Craft Cocktails . With this class, you’ll learn how to make a perfect cocktail no matter where you’re at, from finding the best ingredients to learning if something should be shaken or stirred. Where to stay To stay directly in the heart of the festival area, try getting a room at Disney’s Swan, Dolphin, or Swan Reserve. The three sister hotels are part of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin complex. They are owned by Marriott, so if you have any brand loyalty you can get your Marriott Bonvoy member perks here. After booking your ticket to the Food & Wine Classic, you can lock in your room by calling (888)-828-8850 and mentioning the Food & Wine rate for a discount.  Alternatively, you could stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn or Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts for Disney-owned properties that are within walking distance of the Swan and Dolphin. All three of these Disney hotels are considered deluxe resorts and as such, are priced at a premium rate. If you want to stay at a Disney hotel for less, consider one of the moderate resorts like Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside or Disney’s Coronado Springs. If you stay at one of the moderate resorts listed, you will need to find your own way to the Swan and Dolphin. How to get tickets Tickets for the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic are currently for sale online . Tickets for Friday or Saturday night alone are $195. If you plan on going to both nights of the festival, you can save 15% by bundling your tickets for both nights, making the total cost $331.50 before taxes and fees. Whether you decide to go for one or both nights, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic is a great way to spend an evening.
