TORTUGA ISLAND

Relax at this white sand paradise.

Tortuga Island Costa Rica, Tortuga Island Jaco, Costa Cat

PUBLIC TOUR

Activities included, bilingual guide, food & beverages, alcohol included*, local hotel pickup, credit card required*.

ABOUT THE TOUR

Tour description.

A beautiful island in the Gulf of Nicoya, Tortuga Island is one of Costa Rica’s most visited locations throughout the entire country. Just over 3 square miles, the gentle coast offers some of the most sought after spots for snorkeling, swimming, and generally lazing about the white sand beach. Tortuga island Costa Rica is our little piece of paradise on the Pacific coast, only 1 hour by catamaran from Jaco . “Tortuga” Spanish for turtle, not named because of arrival of turtles but for the shape of the island. Visiting the central pacific area of Costa Rica this is a must, and we highly recommend visiting Tortuga Island Costa Rica .

WHAT TO BRING

We recommend that you prepare yourself for a day at the beach, meaning load up on the sunscreen. Wear your swim gear, sandals, and maybe a hat wouldn’t be the worse idea. Since food and beverages is included we try to keep what you bring to a minimum for maximum space on the catamaran. The service provides rum punch and margaritas all you can drink, other alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, as they don’t want you bringing your own cooler. During the day you will go snorkeling if you wish, the equipment is included but if you have your own you are more than welcome to bring it.

TRANSPORTATION DETAILS

Transportation from a local hotel is included with this tour. 7:45 am with pickup in the Jaco area around 10 minutes past the hour 7:10am. Please be ready at the designated hotel lobby or pickup specification at that time, even a little before. If you are staying outside the Jaco area, such as in Herradura the catamaran leaves from Los Sueños Marina so you will be the last for pickup. If you are staying in Playa Hermosa there is a $5 (Each) additional cost for transportation. If you wish to arrive direct you must be there by 7:20am for check-in. And there is plenty of parking at the marina.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

In Jaco, the Central Pacific area of Costa Rica , we have two remotely powerful seasons which we call: Dry Season (November – May) and Wet/Rainy Season (June – October) . So we are used to the rain here, plus it’s not cold, actually doesn’t bother you too much unless it’s a downpour. The tour to Tortuga Island will still be operating if it rains, also remember that climates change every 10km in Costa Rica and may not be raining at the island when it is in Jaco . If the tour is cancelled it will be to a sever storm and/or with high winds where it is not safe to travel on the catamaran, your will be notified for rescheduling.

RESERVATION REQUIREMENTS

1) A Deposit of $35.00 per person will reserve your tour, the balance will be paid upon arrival. 2) Tour will only be requested with your deposit, we must confirm operation and times available. 3) Please add your hotel name & room number for pickup details if transportation is needed. 4) Transportation from Jaco / Herradura is Included in the price. 5) Transportation from Playa Hermosa has an additional $5 (Each) transportation fee. 6) Hotel Pickup time is: 7:00-7:10am.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Tortuga island catamaran tour with costa cat.

Tortuga Island is located off the coast between Jaco/Puntarenas and the Nicoya Peninsula. It is a small island with a beautiful white-sand beach and is one of the better places to snorkel in Costa Rica.

Tours to the island can be done out of the nearby Playa Herradura (about 15 minutes from Jaco) on a large 54-foot catamaran, the Costa Cat.

At the Marina, you’ll be served a light breakfast on the boat before heading out to the island. The ride out to the island takes about 45 minutes and is very scenic, passing other small islands along the way.

Once you arrive, you can snorkel, take banana boat rides (included), hike the short trail, or just relax under the palm trees from the comfort of a beach chair. Watersport rentals such as jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, and paddle boats are also available.

The interior of the boat (sitting area) has A/C.

Cost: $131 per person adults, $108 per person children ages 4-13. Rates plus 13% tax. Children 3 and under are free.

Offered: Pickup time around 7:00 a.m. If meeting at the Marina, check in time is at 7:15 a.m. Boat leaves at 7:45 a.m.

Duration: You will return to Los Suenos Marina around 3:45 p.m.

Includes: Round-trip transportation from Jaco, Herradura, and Los Suenos, light breakfast aboard (coffee, juice, water, muffin, and fruit), rum punch and margaritas, soft drinks, water, and sodas, lunch on the island (rosemary grilled chicken, sautéed potatoes, yellow rice, and 2 kinds of salad), 3 activities on the beach (snorkel tour, banana boat tour, and eco hike), and use of chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys for kids on the island.

*Beer is $3 and other drinks are $4-10

Isla Tortuga Tour – A Day In Paradise

Posted on Last updated: October 26, 2023

Isla Tortuga is a postcard-perfect paradise nestled in lush green foliage and white sandy beaches. It’s fringed by gem blue waters and swaying palm trees.

Costa Rica offers a vast range of magnificent islands to visit. One highlight is Tortuga Island, located southeast of the Nicoya Peninsula. To reach the island, you would need to take an hour’s boat trip.

There are many day tours offered to the island with either catamaran yachts or speed boats. Our day trip to Isla Tortuga was one of my favourite days in Costa Rica, and I wanted to share the beauty of that island with you!

I’ve put together this Isla Tortuga tour guide to help you plan your trip to Tortuga, including logistics on how to get there, what to expect, prices and more. So let’s jump straight in!

Getting to Tortuga Island

Isla Tortuga, Costa Rica tours are famous for their day trips, with boats and catamarans leaving daily. Day excursions leave from Montezuma, Puntarenas and Jaco on the mainland.

The duration of your boat trip to the island will vary depending on your departure site. Tortuga Island is open all year-round, welcoming crowds during the peak season from late December through to January.

Options to tour Isla Tortuga

We opted for a one day, all-inclusive activity tour from Montezuma. A delightful day spent in complete bliss and absolute luxury!

Palm trees and sunbeds on Isla Tortuga

To get to the island from Montezuma, it will cost around $50 USD, or about $70 USD from Santa Teresa. Keep in mind, this also includes a 45-minute transfer by minibus.

Along the way there, and back, we experienced breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. During our boat ride, we even saw a humpback whale jumping and playing around in the sea!

They told us we might be able to see whales but we didn’t really believe them, assuming it’s what they tell all tourists, but we were surprised and happy when we did really spot one.

Do you need travel insurance for Costa Rica?

After my personal experience spending two nights in a private hospital in Tenerife, and having to pay for it out of pocket (it wasn’t cheap), I always recommend getting travel insurance.

You might not end up needing it, but for a small fee you can travel without worries. Personally, I suggest getting your travel insurance with  Heymondo .

Heymondo offers tailor made travel insurance, providing the best value for money for your specific trip. You can also buy it once you’re already abroad and have forgotten about it before flying (which, if you’re anything like me, is quite likely).

Besides the usual cancellation, medical expenses, luggage coverage and general travel insurance services, Heymondo also has a 24/7 doctor chat and instant assistance through their app.

As a Greta’s Travels reader, you get 5% off your Heymondo travel insurance !

Enjoying the clear water of Isla Tortuga

Enjoying the clear water of Isla Tortuga

Tortuga Island offers gorgeous beach days, where visitors can enjoy themselves snorkelling and swim to their hearts’ content. Other popular tourist activities offered on the island are banana boat rides and jet skis.

Adventure-seekers and hiking enthusiasts , you might enjoy hiking up one of the many gorgeous mountain trails and relish panoramic views on the way up.

Just make sure to ask someone where you can actually hike, as there are fences that separate private property to where tourists can stay.

The island is surrounded by a volcanic reef, home to an abundance of wildlife. Snorkelling or diving in these waters offers the opportunity to see spinner dolphins, moray eels (they’re rather shy), and some shipwrecks.

Our Isla Tortuga tour

We did a Isla Tortuga Snorkelling Tour , which did three stops – two for snorkelling in the cliffs surrounding Isla Tortuga, and one for lunch and relaxing on the beach on actual Tortuga Island.

We were shown the best spots for snorkelling in the crystal clear waters, home to extraordinary tropical beauties. We were lucky enough to spot also some Manta rays!

After a spectacular snorkelling experience, our tour led us to a white sand beach where drinks and fruits were served before a delightful lunch. After lunch, the afternoon was ours to enjoy and explore.

Note: For any scuba diving lovers, there is a scuba diving club you can join to explore the tropical waters a little deeper.

Where to stay before your Tortuga Island tour

Keep in mind, the island is only accessible via day tours, and there is no accommodation offered on Isla Tortuga, Costa Rica. I’ve listed below some of the places we stayed at in mainland Costa Rica before our paradise island tour.

Best place to stay in Montezuma – Sollevante Casitas Montezuma

If you want to avoid travelling too much on mainland Costa Rica, and prefer being directly where the boats for Isla Tortuga set off, you should consider staying in Montezuma.

The town is very small but also very cute, and Sollevante Casitas is a great place to stay. They have an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, do I need to say anything else?

Isla Tortuga offers pristine stretches of beaches and blue ocean waters, ideal for spending the day frolicking in the water.

If you’re looking for a tour with the wow factor, then book this full-day Tortuga Island tour ASAP!

This tour is a winner from start to finish. It starts with a complimentary breakfast on an air-conditioned catamaran cruise through the Gulf of Nicoya, spotting whales and dolphins as you go. I’d say that’s a pretty good note to start on, wouldn’t you?

But things only get better from there, with snorkeling and a banana boat ride that’s an absolute blast. You’ve also got the option to check out some of the island’s most hidden wildlife with a nature hike. I highly recommend doing this, as we saw baby wild pigs – how cute!

And don’t worry, there’s also plenty of time to relax on the pristine beach while the crew keeps the drinks coming. We’re talking rum punch and margaritas – yum! And honestly, I cannot say enough good things about the crew. They really do make everyone feel like a VIP. You won’t find better hosts anywhere!

We also had the option to rent paddle boards or even jet skis, but honestly, the pre-arranged activities are more than enough. I am so impressed by how much is included in this tour. It offers incredible value for money.

The word is well and truly out, though, and this tour almost always sells out. So if you’re going to be staying in Jaco, grab your spot now because you really don’t want to miss this adventure!

This tour is likely to sell out – secure your spot here with FREE cancellation 24 hours before you go.

2. Tortuga Island Full-Day Tour from San José with Lunch

The-beach-on-Tortuga-Island

  • Price: $115 USD
  • Duration: 12 – 18 hours
  • Time: between 4 am and 6 am
  • Highlights: dolphin watching, guided snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, delicious lunch on the island
  • Inclusions: all transport to and from the island, hotel pickup and drop-off, lunch, snorkel equipment, guide, coffee and tea, cold drinks, fruit snacks
  • Pickup from: San José
  • Rating: 4.5 ( check 325+ reviews here )

If you’re staying in San José, there isn’t anything better than being whisked away to a tropical island for the day. I don’t know about you, but I’m always happy to trade cityscapes for white sand, clear water, and amazing marine life.

Speaking of which, booking this full-day tour actually means that you’re pretty likely to see dolphins (and maybe even crocodiles) on the boat ride through the Gulf of Nicoya! And once you arrive, there’s even more incredible marine life on offer with the guided snorkeling session. We saw turtles, manta rays, puffer fish, and even a reef shark when we went snorkeling here. Don’t worry, reef sharks aren’t dangerous, but they are wonderful to see.

I also love the fact that you get five hours to relax and do as you please on the island, whether that’s swimming, more snorkeling, grabbing drinks at the bar, or venturing into the forest to see if you can spot any deer or wild pigs.

This tour strikes a fantastic balance between relaxation and adventure. It’s hands down the best way to visit Isla Tortuga from San José, and you absolutely cannot pass up the opportunity to enjoy it!

3. Tortuga Island Private Full-Day Boat Tour from Jaco

Bailey smiles at the camera in the ocean on Tortuga Island

  • Price: $160 – $180 USD per person
  • Duration: 8.5 hours
  • Time: 7:30 am
  • Highlights: flying subwings underwater, snorkeling, paddleboarding, seeing spider monkeys on a remote island, private beach visit, delicious lunch, fantastic hosts
  • Inclusions: breakfast, lunch, all water sports equipment, Bluetooth speaker, soft and alcoholic drinks, beach chairs, hotel pickup and drop-off
  • Pickup from: Jaco
  • Rating: 5 Stars ( check reviews here !)

If you ask me, visiting Tortuga Island on a private speedboat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So if you’re going to be in Jaco with a group of 5-10 people, I really don’t think that it gets better than this private charter .

Seriously. For one thing, you get to use subwings to fly underwater which is a blast and a half. And of course, this experience is even more magical when you’re surrounded by all of Isla Tortuga’s insane marine life! And with paddleboarding and snorkeling on offer as well, I think it’s safe to say that this tour truly offers a day to remember.

I also love the fact that this tour visits a secret island to see spider monkeys! Spider monkeys fascinate me because they’re so intelligent, and it’s not often you get to see them on a gorgeous remote beach.

In addition to visiting the main beaches on Tortuga Island, the crew can take you to a hidden private beach for some relaxation if you prefer, or you can relax out at sea. Hey, your day, your way!

I really think that this is an incredible way to make memories with friends or family. While it’s one of the pricier tours in this blog, it offers incredible value for money. Since this is a private tour, spots are limited, so if you want to enjoy Tortuga Island in the most comfortable and luxurious way possible, I strongly suggest that you book now!

  • Free cancellation on most tours – Most of the tours on Viator allow you to cancel and get a full refund up to 24 hours in advance. This is handy in case plans change, or if booking an outdoor activity, the weather forecast is looking grim.
  • Reserve now and pay later – You can secure your spot on some of the most popular tours well in advance and not pay until closer to the day of the tour.
  • Lowest price guarantee – If you happen to find the same tour at a lower price elsewhere, Viator will refund you the price difference.
  • Pay in your chosen currency – Avoid costly international transaction fees by choosing to pay in your home currency.
  • Peace of mind – When booking with tour operators you find in person on the street or in small booking offices, you are often promised one thing and given another. This online platform holds tour operators accountable with a written description of inclusions as well as the opportunity for customers to leave reviews.

4. Isla Tortuga Snorkeling Tour from Paquera

A-rock-formation-on-the-protected-area-near-Tortuga-Island

  • Price: $89 USD
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • Time: 9 am
  • Highlights: snorkeling, seeing the spider monkeys, lots of beach time, volleyball
  • Inclusions: snorkel equipment, guide, lunch, hot and cold drinks
  • Pickup from: self-drive

Paquera is one of the easiest places to visit Tortuga Island, so don’t miss out on this epic boat tour if you’re going to be staying in the area. At just $89 USD per person, it’s a steal, so budget travelers will definitely want to snag their place quickly!

This tour can also be booked for just one person, which is not always the case with tours in Costa Rica. It’s ideal for solo travelers, although we went as a couple and had an amazing time!

One of my favorite things about this tour is that we stopped at a nearby island on the way to Isla Tortuga and got to see spider monkeys on a secluded beach. The monkeys were so adorable and I just loved seeing them swinging through the trees.

When we arrived on the island, our guides took us snorkeling, and let me tell you, I was just blown away. We saw so many different creatures, including reef sharks, manta rays, seahorses, angel fish, and turtles. Yup, the whole cast of Finding Nemo was there – and then some!

We also had lots of time to relax and our group even played volleyball together. The included lunch was just delicious, too. We went for the shellfish, which was freshly caught that day.

We would do this tour again in a heartbeat – in fact, we’re planning to the next time we’re in Paquera! It’s a fantastic adventure and I really don’t see how it could have been any better. Plus, there’s very little travel time involved when you visit Isla Tortuga from Paquera, so make sure to book this tour if you’re going to be spending time in this beautiful beach town.

5. Private Isla Tortuga Full Day Tour from Puntarenas

Bailey on Tortuga Island

  • Price: $115 – $210 USD
  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Time: 8:30 am
  • Highlights: dolphin spotting, snorkeling, seeing spider monkeys, relaxing on the pristine beach
  • Inclusions: transportation, private parking if necessary, lunch, snorkeling equipment, all activities
  • Pickup from: cruise port
  • Rating: 4.5 Stars ( check 80+ reviews here )
  • Free cancellation: yes

Tortuga Island is one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful island jewels and you really can’t miss the chance to explore it. Whether you’re visiting Puntarenas on a shore excursion and only have a day here, or are spending a few days in the city, this private full-day tour is one of the best ways to visit!

This tour meets at the cruise port in Puntarenas and whisks you away to the tropical island paradise – but the journey there is actually half the fun. We got to see tons of dolphins as we cruised through the Gulf of Nicoya and we got to stop off at Negritos Island Biological Reserve, where we saw tons of spider monkeys frolicking around in their natural habitat. It was so cool!

And once you arrive, the snorkeling on Isla Tortuga is second to none. We saw everything from turtles and seahorses to reef sharks – don’t worry, they’re not dangerous. It was so much fun, and then we got to relax on the white sand beaches and enjoy lunch on the island. There were a few different options available but we just had to go for the fresh ceviche.

This tour was a winner from start to finish, and we love that it offers travelers a lot of flexibility. If you’re a solo traveler, couple, or small group, you can join the small group tour. There’s a maximum group size of 12, so things don’t get crowded. Meanwhile, groups of 5 or more have the option to go private – how cool is that?

We think that this tour is hands down the best way to spend a day in Puntarenas. It usually sells out at least a few days in advance (or a few weeks during peak season), so we recommend booking your spot now to avoid disappointment!

Check availability and book this top-rated tour in advance here!

Getting Around Costa Rica

Bailey with our rental car near Rio Celeste Costa Rica

How you choose to get around Costa Rica is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make when planning your holiday here! How you do it depends on your budget, travel style, and comfort level.

Renting a Car

Without a doubt, the number one way to explore Costa Rica is in a rental car. We book rental cars on the Discover Cars website as we have had good experiences with them in the past.

One of the things you need to watch for when renting a car in Costa Rica is the mandatory insurance that the government requires you to have. There are a lot of very cheap rentals that don’t include this mandatory insurance (TPL) in the original booking price, but there are also ones that do. To avoid additional surprise charges when you pick up your rental car, be sure to rent a car that includes the mandatory insurance when you book.

Thankfully, on Discover Cars it’s easy to tell apart the companies that include the mandatory insurance and those that don’t. The trick is you can’t pick any car on their website. In the picture below, you can see this rental car, with pick up in Jaco, includes the TPL. That means the mandatory insurance is included in the price. Any cover you get above that is extra.

Of course, I still suggest getting the full coverage offered by Discover Cars, which covers you even more.

You can  browse cars on Discover Cars here .

TPL Cover Costa Rica

Book Shuttles

If renting a car isn’t in your budget, you don’t feel comfortable driving in Costa Rica , or you just don’t like driving, shuttles are the next best option. There are hundreds of shuttle routes available all over the country, and they are very affordable.

Shuttles in Costa Rica are specifically for tourists and often include pick up and drop off at your selected hotels and airports. The drivers also speak some English, and the vehicles have air conditioning. You’ll also be guaranteed a seat when you book a shuttle (which isn’t the case with the public bus system.)

To get the best price, use the website  Bookaway . They compare all the offers and prices of shuttle companies in Costa Rica so you get the best price! Honestly, we have saved so much money using Bookaway!

You can search for shuttles online on Bookaway here.

Lastly, you can use the public bus system. On short journeys, such as from San Jose to La Fortuna or Uvita to Manuel Antonio, this system is great. However, the longer the journey the more hassle and time spent on a bus. It’s undoubtedly best to save the public bus in Costa Rica for short and straightforward trips!

The public buses are definitely the cheapest way to get around Costa Rica, but they are not always very reliable and schedules often change without notice and delays are to be expected. The buses can also be very crowded and hot – so just be prepared!

It’s also good to speak some Spanish if you plan on riding the public bus since most drivers and ticket booth operators don’t speak English.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!

If you’re looking to save money on travel insurance, we currently use and recommend  SafetyWing . We’ve been using their coverage since 2018 and they’ve had our backs when we needed emergency flights and got sick overseas.

SafetyWing is one of the cheapest providers out there and covers everything from medical costs to lost luggage, travel delays, and emergency flights. A huge difference we’ve found between them and other companies is that they let you take out a policy AFTER leaving your home country. We’ve also found it handy that it’s a monthly payment rather than a lump sum, and you can get a refund for unused time.

SafetyWing has helped us out in some scary situations before and their affordable coverage has given us peace of mind.

Daniel and Bailey take a selfie on the boat to Tortuga Island

Tortuga Island is one of those places that is so beautiful, it’s hard to believe it’s real! Taking a tour here is a must while you’re in Costa Rica, and luckily you have a lot of options. Hopefully, this blog was helpful, we did all the research for you, and now you can simply book and go!

If you need more travel tips and resources, be sure to explore our other Costa Rica blogs . After traveling all around the country and living in various parts, we have collected a lot of intel on the best places to explore. Here are a few more articles that I think will be helpful!

It was great fun.

Maureen McQuaid

We just returned from a two week trip in Costa Rica. We booked three tours through your company, including Tortuga Island, Manuel Antonio Park, and three activities in Arenal/La Fortuna. We enjoyed all of the tours, and the guides were great. There are a few things that did not go as advertised. When booking the Manuel Antonio tour, we inquired about the time spent at the beach. We were specifically told that there would be 20 minutes at the beach. Thus, we did not bring swimsuits. Our tour guide was emphatic that the tour would allow one hour at the beach and that was always the case. Thus, we were given incorrect information by your company, and did not have the chance to really enjoy the beach. Also, unlike the other tours, we felt the bus driver took unsafe risks in passing other vehicles. The only other complaint was that there were no walking sticks on the Arenal Volcano/Hanging Bridges/La Fortuna Falls tour as advertised on your website. Hiking the Arenal Volcano was especially dangerous because there are no railings and very steep steps. Fortunately, a tour guide on another tour let me borrow a walking stick to make the trek down the volcano. This helped immensely. Our tour guide said that she has asked for walking sticks in the past, but the company has yet to make them available. We highly recommend that you do so as advertised to avoid an unfortunate accident. Thank you for your attention to these comments.

WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

Doug McDaniel

Great trip from initial pickup through drop off with the crew making the trip to and from Tortuga and the many hours on the beautiful island an amazing experience. The staff was friendly knowledgeable and attentive and provided great food drinks and activities on the island. I highly recommend this tour for a fun filled day with amazing scenery and top notch service.

Elana & Jim Campbell

What a great day! The trip was well organized, the food and service were excellent, and the island was beautiful! We'd definitely recommend this tour!

Jennifer Fyfe

Catamaran was your immaculate, friendly professional staff, beautiful day trip

Kelly Hogan

LOVE LOVE LOVE the waterfall repelling adventure. I had so much fun I can't put it into words. There was a total of 5 repels or jumps that had a variety of heights. I was a little nervous to do the biggest waterfall first, without having tried to repel it before. You definitely need to be physically fit or active to enjoy this. I went in Sept during off season and our group had 5 people so we didn't have to wait in line long for each waterfall. The tour guide mentioned that during on season, it could be up to a group of 20 and take forever to wait in line. The tour guides were very knowledgable and made me feel safe the whole time. Even showed us wildlife along the trail and drive there. SLOTHS!!

Patricia Sanjurjo

AMAZING! We couldn’t ask for a better crew and experience. Everyone was super helpful and always making sure we were having the best time. Wilbur is a gem and Mario keeps the energy going all day. I will recommend this tour to everyone just for this amazing crew.
It was a perfect island day! Endless rum punch and margaritas, guided snorkeling, 1 mile nature hike around the island, and plenty of time to swim in the ocean and relax. The staff was warm, welcoming, and literally went out of their way to make us comfortable.

Sheddie Omar

Excelente servicio y muy divertido el tour 100% recomendado 👏
The service from the staff was outstanding. They had good vibes and got us water, snacks, more drinks at every moment. Even when we stepped off the boat from snorkeling they had cold water waiting for us. The staff was personable and asked our names and where we were from. I highly recommend the tour.
Great day! The staff were very professional and fun at the same time. Highly recommend!

Angela Graham

Perfect Day! From the time we arrived to the marina all the way to departing the marina the staff were all wonderful!! Sebastian was a blast and we appreciate him & all the crew! We've traveled many places and have been on many excursions and the catamaran tour was by far the best. We'll be recommending you to all our friends!!! Thank you so much for a fun & relaxing day!!

Marcus Jackson

A great experience I will never forget. Went snorkeling for the first time and the hike through the jungle was exciting and kept me on edge. The staff was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Would recommend any and everyone to try the party tour.
Absolutely fantastic! There isn’t a single thing I would change about the tour. I will recommend it to everyone I know heading to the area! The crew were amazing and so helpful. They spoke great English and their activities were a blast! Wish I could do it again!
The island party was more fun than you can imagine
So much fun. it is a must try
I had a great time on the Tortuga Island party.
The trip to Tortuga was beautiful. Me and my husband really enjoyed taking in the surrounding beauty. We will be calling and booking a trip with reservation staff soon. I would like to try the zip line canopy through the forest. My husband wants to try fishing.

What our clients say.

I’m so glad that someone recommended us to go explore Tortuga Island but more specifically to go with Bay Island Tours! From the moment you arrive to the moment when you leave, you are always being cared for. They help you whenever possible and are all so attentive. The island itself is so beautiful and we all had so much fun! Thank you to the staff for taking such good care of us! We look forward to one day coming back!

A highlight of our Costa Rica Vacation We had an excellent time! The whole staff is super nice, and attentive. The boat ride is beautiful, the island is beautiful, the food was tasty, they even washed our feet as we entered the boat leaving the island. This trip was the highlight of our Costa Rica vacation.

This is a great tour that I would recommend if you go to Costa Rica. You will board a Catamaran fun boat from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica into the Golf of Nicoya. Where You will experience a breathless and relaxing sailing through several small islands, while being served fruit trays and drinks by Costa Rican sailors dressed in white. Narration of the history of the islands is provided as well as music by a Costa Rican band and entertainment as well.
